The Topklasse table after Round 1

 Maxwell Charlesworth   18:52
Well, what a round of cricket, bowler dominated with no side passing 200. It´ll be a season for the youngsters and Luke Hartsink has put his best foot forward. ACC and HCC seem to have done well in the off season trading and recruiting with Burnett and Crowley standing up when it mattered today. Make sure to check our website in the following days to catch our reviews and previews of the next rounds of topklasse. Also make sure to give our instagram a follow @tkcricket to see the best pictures and moments of the games this season and join TK Fantasy. That’s all from me for today, enjoy yourselves and see you next weekend.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  18:38
VOC : 152/3 – 10 (39 overs)
VCC : 155-6 (38.2 overs)
And thats the ball game, it wasnt going to be anything but a VCC win since about the 20th over, although it got a little shaky towards the end there. Tom de Grooth, 85*, the stand out batsman from the entire round and made sure he put a price on his wicket, and in doing so, ensured victory for his side.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  18:38
VOC : 152/3 – 10 (39 overs)
VCC : 151-6 (38 overs)
VCC lose 4 wickets since the last update but still look in control while de Grooth, 85*, is out there.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  18:05
VOC : 152/3 – 10 (39 overs)
VCC : 121-2 (30 overs)
Much of the same at Hazelaarweg as VCC continue to ensure that they don’t throw this game away de Grooth 63* .

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  18:04
ACC : 166 – 10 (48 overs)
HCC : 169 – 4 (34.5 overs)
.A commanding win by the HCC boys, but for the most part it was the Crowley show, and you would not want to change the channel, a chanceless innings that was topped by sweeping a 6 over square both to win the game and bring his score to 74*, Burnett batted well in the first innings and seems a good find for ACC as his work behind the stumps was tidy to say the least. With Klaus and Floyd doing the damage with the ball straight up. A thoroughly enjoyable game of cricket.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  17:55
VOC : 152/3 – 10 (39 overs)
VCC : 106-2 (25.2 overs)
Dutt edges one to Forget at first slip for 16 off the bowling of Seelar bringing de Leede to the wicket, de Grooth still trucking along on 57* .

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  17:50
ACC : 166 – 10 (48 overs)
HCC : 155 – 4 (32.4 overs)
.Patel comes to the crease to replace Vecchi who edges one off Arya for his second, it seems ACC´s fate is sealed however.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  17:42
ACC : 166 – 10 (48 overs)
HCC : 149 – 3 (31 overs)
.Just as Gorlee was starting to join the party the host asks him to leave. A mix up results in him stranded in the middle of the pitch accepting his fate and is eventually run out. Crowley on 63*, new batsmen is Vecchi.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  17:40
VOC : 152/3 – 10 (39 overs)
VCC : 83-1 (21 overs)
De Grooth showing class and making his way to 46*. VOC need an answer, and they need it fast.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  17:32
ACC : 166 – 10 (48 overs)
HCC : 133 – 2 (27 overs)
.Crowley´s in cruise control, reaching his 50 with an uncharacteristically gentle touch, Gorlee still at the crease though in very much a supporting role.

 Dosti-United vs VRA  17:27
Dosti : 55-10 (2? overs)
VRA : 56-2 (7 overs)
VRA show they´re not all talk with a, for lack of a better word, brutal display against Dosti. Winning by 8 wickets and more than 25 overs left to bat. Dosti will have to shake themselves off quick intime for next weekend or it could be a long 8 weeks for the boys in purple. Rasool 27* and Lees 13* the not out batsmen.

Sunshine and smiles in the end for VRA

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  17:20
VOC : 152/3 – 10 (39 overs)
VCC : 63-1 (15 overs)
Pieterse goes and VOC have their first wicket. Trying to swat a Schoonheim short ball back down the ground he only manages to get to the hands of point. Dutt joins de Grooth who sits on 37*. Van Wingerden with the ball from the other end.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  17:15
HBS : 126 – 10 (4? overs)
Punjab : 132 – 4 (21.1 overs)
All over at the Craeyenhout with Punjab winning by 6 wickets, finishing the game with a 6, a dominant display in all departments.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  17:13
ACC : 166 – 10 (48 overs)
HCC : 105 – 2 (22 overs)
Ahmad gone! He batted so well for his 42 only to cream a Zaidi ball into the hands of midwicket. Gorlee in at 4 for HCC with Crowley still in on 35*.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  16:00
VOC : 152/3 – 10 (39 overs)
VCC : 55-0 (11 overs)
VCC off to a solid start with the bat, Pieterse 18* seems to be getting himself in, in contrast to de Grooth´s run a ball 35*. Seelar and Schoonheim bowling.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  16:28
ACC : 166 – 10 (48 overs)
HCC : 88 – 1 (18 overs)
Crowley, 30*, and Ahmad (31*) motoring along well above the required run rate, it was the spin of Knoll and Kothari from both ends for a while there with Crowley in particular feasting on anything waywardly pitched, particularly targeting down the ground.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  16:50
HBS : 126 – 10 (4? overs)
Punjab : 104 – 4 (15 overs)
Time for drinks at the Craeyenhout with Punjab having lost another wicket, although one suspects it’s perhaps a little too late.

 Dosti-United vs VRA  16:17
Dosti : 55-10 (2? overs)
VRA :
Dosti must surely be happy there´s no relegation this season as its hard to see how VRA could lose from here. Raja ends with utterly ridiculous figures of 4-6 off 6 overs while Luke Hartsink will be giving the selectors something to think about when Gunning is available again, his figures of 3-19 off 7 overs are truly remarkable.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  16:37
HBS : 126 – 10 (4? overs)
Punjab : 84 – 3 (1? overs)
2 quick wickets for HBS and suddenly they are in with a sniff, they´ll be hoping the old “1 brings 2, 2 brings 10” mantra will come rear it´s entertaining head.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  16:28
ACC : 166 – 10 (48 overs)
HCC : 59 – 1 (12 overs)
ACC have managed to nab their first wicket with Staal caught at slip off Knoll´s bowling, they´ll need plenty more though if they are going to defend this total. Crowley having none of it though, hitting a 6 over long on off the 3rd delivery he faced and a 4 two balls later in the same spot.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  16:23
HBS : 126 – 10 (4? overs)
Punjab : 74 – 2 (9)
Punjab hoping to reel in some non-existent bonus points by smashing themselves to victory over HBS, stranger things have happened though in the batting department this round, so don’t rule HBS out yet.

 Dosti-United vs VRA  16:17
Dosti : 48-8 (20 overs)
VRA :
VRA flexing the immense talent of their youth with 14 year old Luke Hartsink taking 3 wickets. On the opposite end of the age spectrum Raja has 3 as well, while Thurmianne has 1. Dosti in all sorts.

Bit of green on the VRA wicket, but not exactly 48-8 green

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  16:14
ACC : 166 – 10 (48 overs)
HCC : 37 – 0 (8 overs)
Both batsmen progressing nicely here at Loopveld with Staal on 19* and Ahmad on 17*. Staal particularly not being satisfied with a lofted cover drive for 4, he did it one better the next ball and put it in the canal for a maximum, Napoleon feeling the brunt of the damage. McInerny currently off the field for a suspect broken finger.

 Dosti-United vs VRA  16:07
Dosti :39-5 (16 overs)
VRA :
Much of the same in de Bos as Dosti also suffers a top order collapse, with 5 batsmen already having returned to the newly renovated pavilion.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  16:00
VOC : 152/3 – 10 (39.5 overs)
VCC :
Van Wingerden is run out in the 39th over leaving VOC with a total of 152, or is it 153? There seems to be some confusion there but we will get back to you. Kingma the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-15 off 8 overs, but de Leede not far behind with 3-21 off 7. 31 extras by the VCC outfit today though, could that be the unlikely deciding factor?

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  15:47
ACC : 166 – 10 (48 overs)
HCC : 8 – 0 (2 overs)
And, we are back, Ahmad 4* and skipper Staal 4* opening the innings for HCC, facing up to Kothari and Napoleon..

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  15:45
VOC : 151 – 9 (39 overs)
VCC :
Mulett tries to take Boissevain over long on but only manages to find Pieterse on the rope. Rutgers joins him in the sheds soon after, bowled by Kingma for his 3rd of the day. Moorman and the child prodigy Van Wingerden at the crease.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  14:58
VOC : 142 – 7 (36 overs)
VCC :
Rutgers seems to be picking up where Durrani left off, he makes his way to 22*with Mullet supporting adequately on 5* at the other end.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  14:58
VOC : 117 – 7 (30 overs)
VCC :
The main man Durrani departs caught off the bowling of Qasim for 56. Mullet joins TK fantasy smokey pick Rutgers after Forget is bowled by De Leede for his 3rd wicket of the afternoon.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  15:07
HBS : 126 – 10 (4? overs)
Punjab :
126 all out, HBS will be considerably disappointed with that effort, however, their effort to bat into what one would assume to be the 40th over after being 50/6 should be commended.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  15:03
ACC : 166 – 10 (48 overs)
HCC :
Just like that, after being 80-0, ACC are all out for 166. Their middle order cost them a 200+ score today, but credit must be given to Klaus (4-37) and Floyd (3-30) for some brilliant bowling.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  14:58
VOC : 103 – 5 (27 overs)
VCC :
50 for Durrani! Some glorious batting by the VOC man, absolutely brutal hitting against the spinners. Mayhem at the other end though as Jain falls for 20 and J. Schoonheim departs for 1. VOC will be hoping Forget, 2*, will provide some stability.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  14:53
ACC : 160 – 8 (46 overs)
HCC :
2 quick wickets fall at the hands of Klaus who bowls both Kothari and Napoleon, new man at the crease is Shoaib.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  14:21
HBS : 106 – 8 (3? overs)
Punjab :
Drummond gone by the 3rd run out of the innings for 46. Unclear who has joined Stephan Vink at the crease, but either way HBS has found themselves once again in dire straits.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  14:41
VOC : 84 – 3 (23 overs)
VCC :
Kingma comes back into the attack as Durrani hits Boissevain for his 3rd 6, he stands on 41*with Jain on 17.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  14:26
ACC : 147 – 6 (43 overs)
HCC :
Meanwhile across Amstelveen, Babu is caught by Staal off the bowling of Overdijk, who thoroughly deserved a wicket. Followed by the new batsman Zaidi being stumped by Lagas off the bowling of Klaus. Joining Krishna at the crease is Kothari.

 Dosti-United vs VRA  14:33
VRA :
Dosti :
Great news out of de Bos, a 33 over game is set to start at 15:00. Toss has commenced with VRA winning and electing to field, a common theme today.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  13:55
VOC : 67 – 3 (20 overs)
VCC :
VOC managed to not lose a wicket before drinks with Durrani 32* doing the bulk of the scoring. Boissevain and Dutt rolling their arms over.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  14:26
ACC : 141 – 4 (41 overs)
HCC :
Babu, 23*, needs a partner to stick around with him as Knoll is caught and bowled by Klaus for 12. His replacement is Krishna.

 Dosti-United vs VRA  14:23
VRA :
Dosti :
Lunch has been had and we are awaiting a verdict from the umpires from their inspection.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  14:21
HBS : 102 – 7 (35 overs)
Punjab :
Drummond batting well to try and save his team some face as he makes his way to 45*, Stephan Vink amply supporting on 7*.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  13:55
VOC : 44 – 3 (15 overs)
VCC :
Durrani starts to get going, making his way to 14* off 42 as VOC try to consolidate with Jain at the other end on 9*. Dutt comes into the attack.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  14:08
ACC : 121 – 3 (38 overs)
HCC :
Potdar falls LBW to Floyd who picks up his second. HCC starting to make some inroads here with the ball. New man in is ACC captain Knoll.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  14:05
HBS : 81 – 7 (28 overs)
Punjab :
Online text commentators curse. Ferdi falls for 14 and is replaced by his namesake Stephan.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  13:57
HBS : 80 – 6 (26 overs)
Punjab :
A come back on the cards? Drummond, 36*, and Ferdi 13* are consolidating nicely, still a long way to go though.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  13:55
VOC : 21 – 3 (11 overs)
VCC :
Tim de Kok out for 2, caught at slip by Tom de Grooth off the bowling of Bas de Leede. 3 balls later he gets Dutch skipper Seelar as well! Top class topklasse bolwing from the VCC youngster.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  13:50
ACC : 111 – 2 (32 overs)
HCC :
Redemption! Floyd gets his man from his last over bowling McInerny for a well-crafted 35. Potdar makes his way to the wicket.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  13:47
ACC : 102 – 1 (30 overs)
HCC :
Floyd drops a sitter of a caught and bowled off the set batsman McInerny, 35*, ACC make their way to 102 off 30 overs, Babu, 11*, doesn’t seem to be content with that run rate though as we start to see some big shots come out.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  13:40
VOC : 11 – 1 (8 overs)
VCC :
Kingma gets the wicket of Malik who departs for 5. De Kok joins Durrani on the crease, no significant increase in run rate so far.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  13:34
ACC : 89 – 1 (25 overs)
HCC :
The sun comes out for a second and HCC get their breakthrough! Crowley gets the edge of Burnett and hes gone caught behind for 53, new man at the crease is ex-Bloemendaal player Ramesh Babu. McInerny on 31*.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  13:20
VOC : 8 – 0 (4 overs)
VCC :
Kingma and Qasim open the bowling against Durrani 0* and Malik 4*, a cautious start, but still very early in the innings.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  12:34
ACC : 80 – 0 (21 overs)
HCC :
50 for Burnett! His team mates shout “halfway there mate”, and you´d think he is thinking the same. McInenerny still with him and has started to pick up the pace making his way to 25. Overdijk unlucky to still be wicketless though with several edges falling short of the slips or wide of keeper.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  13:14
HBS : 50 – 6 (15 overs)
Punjab :
Yet another HBS wicket falls, they would do well to reach 100 from here let alone a competitive total. Drummond 19*, Ferdi 4*.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  12:54
ACC : 60 – 0 (15 overs)
HCC :
Burnett enters the 40s as ACC continue building this opening partnership, Overdijk back into the attack, a couple missed runout opportunities by the HCC fielders are starting to cost them.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  12:50
HBS : 30 – 5 (? overs)
Punjab :
Further capitulation at Craeyenhout as the total runout count comes to 2.

 VOC Rotterdam vs VCC  12:50
VCC :
VOC :
VCC won the toss and will field in their shortened game against VOC. Start time: 13:00

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  12:40
HBS : 25 – 4 (8 overs)
Punjab :
HBS off to a dreadful start being 4 down before even the 10th over. Visee, Mason, Coster and a mystery bastman are back in the sheds. Punjab return to the topklasse in style!

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  12:34
ACC : 43 – 0 (11 overs)
HCC :
ACC looking comfortable here with Burnett (30*) punishing anything short and McInerny keeping good company on 10, Klaus into the attack with Byloos still steaming in at the other end.

 Dosti-United vs VRA  12:30
VRA :
Dosti :
Good news is, its getting better. Bad news is the next inspection is at 13:30. Couple scenarios being discussed, one of which is a 30 over game starting at 15:00

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  12:15
ACC : 22 – 0 (7 overs)
HCC :
Overdijk replaces Floyd as Burnett begins to settle on 15, one would imagine ACC will need a strong opening partnership to be in with a shot against this HCC outfit.

  🌧 Weather Update 🌧   12:10
Weather getting better here at Loopveld and at VRA with the wind expected to die down in a couple hours.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  12:05
ACC : 13 – 0 (4 overs)
HCC :
Burnett takes Floyd over midwicket for a 6 in the 2nd over after facing Byloos bowling at a decent click from the other end. Bail trouble however as the 40km/h breeze passing through removes them 5 times in 2 overs.

 ACC Amsterdam vs HCC  11:52
ACC : 1 – 0 (1 over)
HCC :
Tentative first over as McInerny and Burnett keep out Floyd, but only manage a single run from it. Topklasse is underway!

Dosti :
Still wet in de Bos but getting better, play still expected to happen at some point.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Punjab  11:29
HBS :

The team efforts at the ground seem to be paying off, with play now scheduled for a 12 o´clock start, that is if the 11.30 inspection goes to plan.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs Sparta 1888  11:27
Excelsior :
Sparta :
Disappointing news coming out of Thurlede as the game is called off due to a particularly wet wicket. Fingers crossed the other matches don’t follow suite.

 Dosti-United vs VRA  11:04
VRA :
Dosti :
Looks like there will be some cricket occurring in de Bos as well with the turf wicket and square being relieved of its protection. Plenty of preparatory work to be done before any chance of a toss.

 ACC Asterdam vs HCC  11:00
ACC :
HCC :
Covers off here at Loopveld as the rain subsides, hopeful for not too much of a delay with an impending toss coming in roughly 30 minutes.

 Maxwell Charlesworth   10:30
Morning all and a very warm welcome to the first belated round of topklasse for the season, looking gloomy with drizzle and high winds at most grounds around, with the covers still on here at Loopveld and at Amstelveen, it seems like we are in for a couple of delayed starts. It´s already confirmed that Punjab will have to wait at least another hour for their return to the big-league as their game against HBS is due for its next inspection at 11:00. Remember folks, another postponed start to a shortened game at VOC today with the match scheduled to commence at 13:00.

HBS vs Punjab inspection results in another inspection at 11:00

  Rod Lyall  10:10
And so, a little later than we planned, it’s good morning (or afternoon, or evening) to you all. This is Rod Lyall, still in Sydney, Australia but looking forward to a great, if virtual, day of Topklasse cricket. Max Charlesworth will be keeping us apprised of all the action throughout the day, with Our Glorious Leader Bertus de Jong heading south for a long-planned and thoroughly-deserved walking holiday among the southern neighbours. And indefatigible lensman Sander Tholen is at Craeyenhout to capture events there. Special greetings, by the way, to all the scorers and club officials who make it possible for us to do what we do. While we wait for battle to commence you might like to divert yourself with the season preview and its mate we have put together in this very strange week [e&oe]. There’s also the On this Day feature we’ve been running since the start of the season , which we hope you’ve been finding interesting. The toss in four of today’s five matches is currently about 20 minutes away, and we’ll bring you the news as soon as we have it.
