Topklasse Live | Round 10 | As it Happened

 Bertus de Jong  19:00
That’s a wrap on a remarkable day’s cricket, Punjab at least keeping things interesting as the rest of the league fell completely to peices in the second innings. Three wins by 100+ runs and another almost as convincing. VOC go top, Punjab fail to get off the bottom, and still five teams at least in contention for to top spot.

The Topklasse table after Round 10

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  18:52
 Excelsior: 219-7 in 50 overs
Punjab: 200 all out in 45.4 overs
Nope. Ingram will. Hussain can’t see him off, clean bowled for 8 and Bamunusinghe stranded on 59*, Punjab 20 short of a remarkable win. Exclesior back to their winning hard, winning ugly ways.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  18:48
 Excelsior: 219-7 in 50 overs
 Punjab: 199-9 in 45 overs
Five overs to go, 21 to get. Bamunusinghe’s on 58, will he be the hero?

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  18:37
 Excelsior: 219-7 in 50 overs
 Punjab: 192-9 in 42 overs
Bamunusinghe gets his half century. Eight overs left, 28 to get, just one wicket. Are Excelsior getting nervous yet?

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  18:17
 Excelsior: 219-7 in 50 overs
 Punjab: 174-9 in 39 overs
And the collapse comes belatedly to Thurlede. Usman caught behind off van Troost after a combabtative 19, and Tariq and Din quickly follow him without scoring. Hussain last man in with Bamunusinghe, who’s 9 short of fifty.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:51
 Excelsior: 219-7 in 50 overs
 Punjab: 150-6 in 31.4 overs
Meanwhile 150 up for Punjab, 70 needed off 18.2. Wickets is the major concern and Bamunusinghe, currently on 31, really needs to stay there til the end.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  17:46
VOC: 177 all out in 49.3 overs
Dosti: 128 all out in 45.5 overs
Dosti finally all bowled out for 128. An enthralling game of cricket, where VOC’s tail came to the rescue after Davids ran through the VOC top order. Klassen, Fletcher, Hanif and Baker then squeezed the Dosti batsman to produce a solid victory for VOC. That’s all from Hazelaarweg and your mysterious correspondent Corey R.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:37
 Excelsior: 219-7 in 50 overs
 Punjab: 144-6 in 30 overs
Bajwa goes, LBW to Heggelman for a duck, all on Bamunusinghe now. He’s on 22 as Usman joins him for the 7th wicket.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  17:30
VOC: 177 all out in 49.3 overs
 Dosti: 111-8 in 41 overs
A few lusty blows by the Dosti tail.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:17
 Excelsior: 219-7 in 50 overs
 Punjab: 127-5 in 26 overs
Punjab apparently haven’t got their invites either, they are fighting courageously at Thurlede and have lost a mere 5 wickets. The last to fall was Latif for 34, which swings the game well back in the hosts favour, but Punjab ahead of the rate and hanging in there. Bajwa joins Bamunusinghe.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  17:15
VOC: 177 all out in 49.3 overs
 Dosti: 84-8 in 35 overs
Seelar chimes in with another scalp

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  17:10
HCC 189 all out
Sparta: 65 all out in 30.3 overs
A spirited, even sprightly last-wicket partnership – the biggest of the innings – between Snoep and Hoornweg comes to an end when Ninan returns and Hoornweg falls to a running overhead catch, well taken by Gorlee at extra cover. HCC win by 124 runs, and the bizarre procession continues. Is this the International Day of the Lemming?

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  17.01
HBS: 235 all out in 48.3 overs
ACC: 62 all out in 22 overs
All over at het Loopveld too. My word.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  17:00
VOC: 177 all out in 49.3 overs
 Dosti: 67-7 in 32 overs
Things are little better for Dosti, Seelar removes Hans caught and bowled, then Schoonheim ends Hafeez patient reaguard of 30, clean bowled. Looks to be the game for VOC, who may move to the top of the ladder after today’s result. 3 wickets to go

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  16.55
HBS: 235 all out in 48.3 overs
 ACC: 60-8 in 20 overs
ACC meanwhile have lost another, Wesdijk has his five-fer too bowling unchanged to finish with 5-35 in 10.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  16:54
 VRA 238-7 in 50 overs
Quick 137 all out in 28.2 overs
And ter Braak Wraps it up, Gunning, fittingly takes the final catch. He’s finished with figures of 5-36 and delivered a 101 run win for VRA.

HCC vs Sparta 1888 16:48
HCC 189 all out
Sparta: 41-8 in 23.5 overs
We went into Test match mode after Buurman’s departure, just singles and a wide adding to the meagre total. But another catch by Lagas gives Street Muhammad’s wicket, and brings Usman Saleem to the crease.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  16:47
 Excelsior: 219-7 in 50 overs
 Punjab: 101-4 in 20 overs
Myburgh has belatedly got the 2nd innings collapse memo, Bhatti has him well caught by Hilditch for 48. Punjab will have to get a move on if they’re to catch up to the collapsing pack however, in fact they’re barely losing at this point.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  16:40
 VRA 238-7 in 50 overs
 Quick 113-9 in 25 overs
Ter Braak the elder’s part-time leg-spin puts an end to a face-saving 40 run partnership as Vierling is trapped in front missing a sweep. Van der Horst last man.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  16:34
 VRA 238-7 in 50 overs
 Quick 110-8 in 24 overs
The introduction of spin has brought a measure of sanity to proceedings, with Turmaine and Raja operating in tandem. Vireling and Khan batting with the freedom a lost cause affords them, and have rapidly brought up the hundred for Quick.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  16:32
HCC 189 all out
Sparta: 37-7 in 19 overs
And Overdijk removes Buurman for 15, nicking through to keeper Lagas. The cue for a drink, with HCC, like their lion badge, utterly rampant.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  16:25
HCC 189 all out
Sparta: 37-6 in 18 overs
The hero of last week’s victory over ACC, Atse Buurman, is setting about rebuilding the innings again, in partnership with skipper Snoep. Hidde Overdijk and Street have replaced Ninan and Qasim, but the pressure remains on.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  16.24
HBS: 235 all out in 48.3 overs
 ACC: 42-7 in 12 overs
Two more for Westdijk. ACC seven down. Like it’s a race or something. Can only assume there’s some awesome Topklasse party on this afternoon that I’ve not been invited too.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  16.16
HBS: 235 all out in 48.3 overs
 ACC: 30-5 in 10 overs
So the entire Topklasse seems to be having a weird collective collapse, ACC five down. Westdijk twice to do for Rasool and Zulfiqar Ahmed

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  16:10
HCC 189 all out
Sparta: 21-6 in 13.2 overs
Two catches behind, both off Qasim, account for Ambrose and, crucially, Bell. Qasim now has six for 18, doing to Sparta what he did to HBS earlier in the season. Snoep joins Buurman.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  15:55
VOC: 177 all out in 49.3 overs
 Dosti: 30-5 in 20 overs
Some unbelievable scenes at Hazelaarweg, Hanif runs into bowl the 18th over with the first delivery hitting Hafeez on the thigh pad and trickling to the right of keeper Edwards, the non striker completely over commits, mass confusion as Edwards shy’s the ball to Seelar who mops up, and non striker run out. Davids joins Hafeez and 3 balls later identical play, the ball strikes Hafeez pad, Davids runs and Hafeez refuses again, another run out to keeper Edwards and the two Dosti players are left arguing at each other in the middle. Dosti at a snails pace are 5 for 30 off 20. Hafeez who opened still only 11.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888
16:14
HCC 189 all out
Sparta: 21-6 in 13.2 overs
Two catches behind, both off Qasim, account for Ambrose and, crucially, Bell. Qasim now has six for 18, doing to Sparta what he did to HBS earlier in the season. Snoep joins Buurman.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  16:12
 VRA 238-7 in 50 overs
 Quick 78-8 in 17 overs
And Gunning again! What a spell this has been. Edged and Lees takes again, that’s van Schelven gone and, quite unbelievably, Gunning’s maiden Topklasse 5-fer.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  15:35
 Excelsior: 219-7 in 50 overs
 Punjab: 58-2 in 11.1 overs
Steph Myburgh’s about the only bat in Holland enjoying this second innings. He’s unbeaten on 38 off 33, but Hilditch deprives him of another partner as Khan is caught behind the wicket for 7.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  16:04
 VRA 238-7 in 50 overs
 Quick 72-7 in 15.4 overs
Catch for Gunning now coming in off the rope at deep fine leg to give Borren his second. Mol gone, van Schelven in.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  16.01
HBS: 235 all out in 48.3 overs
 ACC: 30-3 in 8 overs
And now Wesdijk in on the action, another great take behind the stumps from Visee, Asad Zulfiqar gone and ACC on the ropes.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  15.58
HBS: 235 all out in 48.3 overs
 ACC: 28-2 in 7 overs
Another for Coster meanwhile, Rehmat Zulfiqar gone.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  15:55
VOC: 177 all out in 49.3 overs
 Dosti: 17-3 in 14 overs
Baker capitalizes on the seamer’s pressure and bowls Ahemed with his 2nd ball

 Quick Haag vs VRA  15:54
 VRA 238-7 in 50 overs
 Quick 52-6 in 12 overs
Gunning on absolute fire here, Davey was never getting anything but edge on that. Third catch for Lees.

HCC vs Sparta 1888 15:50
HCC 189 all out
Sparta: 9-4 in 8 overs
The drama continues! Qasim bowls Pollard in his third and then Bukhari in his fifth. Ninan, meanwhile, has bowled three maidens on the trot. Warren Bell joins Ambrose, with Sparta threatening to implode.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  15.47
HBS: 235 all out in 48.3 overs
 ACC: 17-1 in 6 overs
Big wicket early at het Loopveld too, Frenz goes for ten thanks to a thick edge off Wessel Coster and a cracking one-handed take from Visee.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  15:44
 VRA 238-7 in 50 overs
 Quick 46-5 in 11 overs
Gunning looking all-but unlayable here, and he’s got the big wicket – finds Bista’s edge and Borren with a fine diving take at first slip, might have had another three balls later if Singh had managed to replicate the take at second, but Stokkers gets an unearned four to get off the mark. He won’t get much further though, Gunning’s right through him and into the pads, no hesitation from the umpire. Mol in.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  15:39
VOC: 177 all out in 49.3 overs
 Dosti: 9-2 in 10 overs
An unbelievably tight first 10 overs from Klassen and Fletcher, Dosti going at less than one an over.

HCC vs Sparta 1888 15:37
HCC: 189 all out in 48.1 overs
Sparta: 5-2 in 3 overs
If the start of the HCC innings was dramatic, Sparta’s is even more so. Faisal Iqbal and Craig Ambrose start purposefully enough against Ryan Ninan and Ali Ahmed Qasim, but off the final two balls of the latter’s first over Iqbal chops on, uprooting his middle stump, and then De Kok is bowled first ball.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  15:36
 VRA 238-7 in 50 overs
 Quick 41-3 in 10 overs
And Borren has Ekelmans caught behind for 6 here, Davey joins Bista, Quick in trouble.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  15:35
 Excelsior: 219-7 in 50 overs
 Punjab: 21-1 in 4.1 overs
Meanwhile Myburgh has started with plenty of intent at Thurlede, on to 15 at just over a run a ball, but Rens van Troost deprives him of his opening partner, removing Raza for 2. Khan in.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  15:19
 VRA 238-7 in 50 overs
 Quick 29-2 in 6 overs
Ter Braak strikes here, van Gigch had survived an enthusiastic appeal for caught behind two over earlier, but there’s no doubt this time. Bista in and off the mark driving through cover to the rope.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  15:15
VOC: 177 all out in 49.3 overs
 Dosti: 3-2 in 5.1 overs
There’s the early breakthrough as Fletcher continues his magnificent day by snicking off Vinoo Tewarie for a duck, well held by Klassen at first slip. And again! Fletcher has Kohli for a duck in his next, an absolute belter of a catch by Klassen at 1st again. Rahil Ahmed in at 4.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  15:05
 VRA 238-7 in 50 overs
 Quick 12-1 in 3 overs
And they’re back in action here at the Bos, I’ve made the dash down Kalfjeslaan just in time to see Gunning knock back Landheer’s stumps for a four-ball duck. He’s sharing the new ball with Ross ter Braak. Ekelmans joins van Gigch.

HCC vs Sparta 1888  14:41
HCC: 189 all out in 48.1 overs
And it lasts just one more delivery, as a run out leaves HCC on a rather disappointing 189, given that they were 132 for three at one stage.

HCC vs Sparta 1888  14:41
HCC: 189-9 in 48 overs
That reckoned without a rather untidy over from Hoornweg and a short but breezy innings from Douwe Walhain, which included a six off the last ball of that over. But in the course of it Qasim was bowled, and in Bukhari’s next Walhain is caught at deep midwicket and Jan Wieger Overdijk is bowled first ball. A Michelle for Bukhari.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  14.40
HBS: 235 all out in 48.3 overs
And that’s a wrap as Khan is caught off Ahmed Zulfiqar by Potdar at short third man. A fine fightback from ACC after Gomes and Coster looked to be taking the game away from them.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  14.36
 HBS: 233-9 in 48 overs
Meanwhile here at het Loopveld de Mey has given Botha his second wicket, looking to clear Rasool at mid on but not getting enough on it. Barresi goes next ball two short of a half-century as he’s struck on the pads looking for a leg glance. Fink last man.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  14:31
 Excelsior: 219-7 in 50 overs
A muscular 36 off 31 from Woutersen has given Excelsior a fair bit to bowl at too, we hear, and 220 will be Punjab’s target.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  14:28
 VRA 238-7 in 50 overs
Borren’s onslaught didn’t last much longer, we’re told, he departed for 42 shortly after out last update. The VRA lower ordewr have got them to a decent score however, 239 will be Quick’s after the break.

HCC vs Sparta 1888 14:22
HCC: 165-6 in 45.1 overs
Bukhari returns, and promptly bowls Trijzelaar (a.k.a. Jonkman) for 14. HCC will do well to get near 200 from here.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  14:22
 Excelsior: 184-6 in 45.3 overs
Hussain removes Verhagen after a rearguard 38, but Excelsior have recovered well and David Woutersen looks to capitalise, he’s moved swiftly to 21 off 20. 184 on the baord with 27 balls to come, Excelsior will be looking to get well north of 200 here.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  14.16
 HBS: 211-7 in 43.3 overs
Singh goes having a flash at Ahmed Zulfiqar outside off, and is duly caught behind. Westdijk in as HBS look to kick on. And Westdijk out as he loses his leg stump trying to flick Botha round the corner, de Mey in.

HCC vs Sparta 1888  14:12
HCC: 162-5 in 43.5 overs
Street perishes for the cause, trying to hit Iqbal back over his head and hearing the bails fly. Ali Ahmed Qasim in to join Jonkman.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  14:10
VOC: 177 all out in 49.3 overs
An unbelievable recovery from the VOC lower order has seen them resurrect there innings to 177 all out. Baker, Hanif, Fletcher must take most of the credit after an early inspired bowling display From David’s and later on Hafeez, had VOC teetering at 8/111. But Hanif’s 36*, Bakers 13 and Fletcher’s 15 has wrestled back momentum and one feels the battle between Klassen and Seelar vs Kohli and support, may decide the match which is evenly poised.

HCC vs Sparta 1888 14:02
HCC: 148-4 in 41 overs
A half-century for Street, as he pulls Snoep square for four. He’s been joined by Mark Jonkman as HCC go into the final ten needing a big finish if they’re to set a really challenging target. But Staal, Street and Gorlee have certainly given them the platform.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  14.02
 HBS: 195-5 in 40 overs
Getting dangerous here as Barresi absolutely creams that over the scorer’s heads, safe in the knowledge that ACC had too many out, so a no ball. Not as safe as he thought though as said no ball is not given, to the bafflement of all. Lucky he wasn’t bowled I guess or I expect angry words would have followed.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:55
 Excelsior: 152-5 in 40 overs
Tariq has Shankar caught behind for 36, but he’s done a fine job rebuilding after the early collapse. Skipper Heggelman in to join Verhagen who’s on 35.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  13.52
 HBS: 182-5 in 38 overs
And Ahmed out, trapped in front for a duck by Arjan Kumar. Navjit Singh in to join Barresi.

HCC vs Sparta 1888 13:50
HCC: 132-4 in 38.1 overs
And there it is, as Gorlee tries to whip Snoep away through midwicket and has his stumps rearranged. He made 25, and Street has 41.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  13:50
 VRA 201-5 in 45 overs
Borren leading the fightback at VRA, he’s hit 40 off 25 to bring up the 200 with five overs to go, Turmaine with him on 16.

HCC vs Sparta 1888  13:46
HCC: 129-3 in 37 overs
Street moves sedately on to 39, with Gorlee on 24. Another valuable stand forces Snoep to have a trundle himself, and to try Iqbal from the Scoreboard End. The game’s pretty evenly poised at this stage, but one wicket could swing it back towards Sparta.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  13.46
 HBS: 174-4 in 37 overs
That might help though, Morgan spoons one high up of Sikander, Raza under it at mid off and no mistake. Ahmed in.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  13.36
 HBS: 163-3 in 35 overs
Wickets have brought little relief here as Morgan and Barresi pick up where Coster and Gomes left off. Morgan’s on to 17 already having seen most of the strike, Barresi on 5.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:26
 Excelsior: 127-4 in 36 overs
Verhagen and Shankar continue the reconstruction efforts at Thurlede, 50 partnership up, they’re on 32* and 21* respectively.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  13:24
 VOC: 135-8 in 37 overs
VOC’s tail showing some ticker here, Baker with some extravagant batting and Hanif lofting the ball straight for 6 then cutting for 4, move VOC to 135 for 8.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  13:23
 VRA 159-5 in 36.5 overs
Szwarczynski’s horror season continues as he falls victim to a mix-up and is run out, van den Burg doesn’t last long either as he skies a top edge off Davey and Vierling takes it comfortably. Turmaine joins Borren who’s on 15.

HCC vs Sparta 1888  13:20
HCC: 109-3 in 32 overs
Street and Gorlee go quietly along, the former intent on anchoring the innings and his partner taking a little time to settle. Snoep rings the changes with his bowlers, and when Bukhari comes back from the Scoreboard End Gorlee whips him through midwicket for his first boundary. Crucial phase, this.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  13.16
 HBS: 141-3 in 33 overs
And one brings two as Coster takes on on the pads too and is sent on his way for 64. Barresi in and with two new batsmen at the crease ACC coming back to life.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  13.12
 HBS: 141-2 in 32 overs
And finally a breakthrough here as one stays low and Gomes can’t get bat on it, into the pads and brings the appeal, and, after a long delay the finger. ACC look almost as surprised as Gomes, but nowhere near as angry. Morgan in.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  13:10
 VOC: 111-8 in 35 overs
Another wicket goes to Hafeez and just a matter of time before the innings is wrapped up, Baker and Hanif currently occupying the crease.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  13.06
 HBS: 137-1 in 30 overs
And a chance is spurned as Coster drives Raza up toward extra cover where Ahmed Zulfiqar can only palm it up, but loses it on the way down. This pair look set to punish them too, Coster on 62* now, Gomes 65*.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:05
 Excelsior: 101-4 in 30 overs
Verhagen and Shankar digging in for Excelsior meanwhile, and bring up the hundred.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  12.58
 HBS: 130-1 in 28 overs
Coster is cutting loose here now as he brings up his own half century putting the ball over a delighted HBS bench. Couple more boundaries and he’s caught up to Gomes, both batsmen on 60* now.

Game evenly poised with Street & Gorlee at bat photo Ryan Campbell

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  12:53
 VOC: 90-6 in 30 overs
Davids now traps Edwards for 27 and VOC in all sorts of trouble, the umpires have had to step in after Davids gives Edwards an unnecessary send off -Kagiso Rabadaesque. The umpires have stepped in to try cool the situation.

HCC vs Sparta 1888  12:49
HCC: 80-3 in 24 overs
There’s the breakthrough, as Staal, having hit a four, followed by a massive six onto the tennis courts off Iqbal’s last, edges Saleem through to Buurman and departs for 49. He’s furious with himself. Boris Gorlee joins Street.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  12:49
 VRA 129-3 in 28.5 overs
Suddenly wickets at the Bos as Stokkers nicks off Cooper for 45 off 40, before Bista strikes the next over, holding a return catch to deny ter Braak his half-century by a single run. Szwarczynski and Borren in.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  12.46
 HBS: 107-1 in 25 overs
Acceleration here meanwhile as Gomes brings up the hundred and his fifty with a vicious pull behind square. ACC’s usual skipper has some ideas, but his team looks rather stumped.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  12:45
 VOC: 85-5 in 27 overs
There’s the Big wicket, Davids is brought back into the attack, and with his first ball there’s a huge appeal and traps Pieter Seilar LBW. A very dubious call as it’s him on the top of the flap of the pad, but never the less brings Klaassen to the crease, and a door open for Dosti – writes our man at Hazelaarweg today, Corey R.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  12:41
 Excelsior: 75-4 in 22 overs
Hilditch gone too now as Vorster holds on to a return catch, and Excelsior’s lower middle order have a real job to do here if they’re not to extend their new and entirely unwelcome streak.

HCC vs Sparta 1888  12:38
HCC: 66-2 in 22 overs
The partnership continues to prosper, with Street now also taking a more aggressive hand, especially when Hoornweg drops at all short. He flashes at a Bell bouncer, edging very fine for four, and Usman Saleem comes on at the Scoreboard End, with Faisal Iqbal operating from the other. Staal, meanwhile, has gone on to 38, while Street is on 19.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  12:34
 VRA 113-1 in 25 overs
Hundred up for VRA in the meantime, Cooper has passed ter Braak but the latter has picked up his pace too, they’re on 42* and 39* respectively.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  12:30
 VOC: 70-4 in 25 overs
Seelar looking to take on the Dosti’s three prong spin attack as he moves onto 23*. He’s found a solid partner in Edwards who has 12* to his name. And the partnership grows to 29.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  12.24
 HBS: 74-1 in 20 overs
Gomes and Coster continue to make steady if unshowy progress as Alim takes over at the River End. Quick outfield is aiding in twos as it takes the ball away from the fielders, but the ball’s not really coming on to the bat and boundaries have been scarce.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  12:21
 Excelsior: 64-3 in 17.2 overs
Another down at Thurlede as Etman falls to Khan for 37, Hilditch joins Verhagen who has struggled to find any fluency, he’s on 3 off 20 balls.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  12:14
 VRA 84-1 in 19 overs
Van Schelven finds the breakthrough, trapping Singh in front for 27, but Cooper joins ter Braak and begins briskly. He’s already almost overtaken his partner, both batsmen in the twenties and a solid platform.

HCC vs Sparta 1888  12:11
HCC: 43-2 in 16 overs
Circumspection is more the name of Street’s game, as he faces a second Bell maiden and has so far confined himself to singles. Staal, by contrast, continues to go for his shots against Bell and Hoornweg, the latter having replaced Bukhari at the City End.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  12:09
 VOC: 45-4 in 16 overs
But van Ierschot goes for a duck. Edwards in and Seelar looking comfortable on 12 but huge pressure again on this partnership. The pitch and Dosti’s spin are a perfect recipe.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  11:59
 VOC: 34-3 in 15 overs
Van Baren hits a longhop to cover and van Lent finally runs himself out at the 4th attempt. Spin looking very difficult to play on a slow pitch, Maarten van Ierschot and Seelaar in and Scott Edwards to follow. The match will likely turn on the next 2 partnerships, our informant feels.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  11.58
 HBS: 50-1 in 14 overs
Fifty up for HBS now, Coster and Gomes looking increasingly settled. ACC have let a few run-out chances go begging earlier though, and conceded a sprinkling of overthrows too, to the audible frustration of the sidelined Saqib Zulfiqar, whose injured ankle has landed him scorer’s duties today.

HCC vs Sparta 1888 11:53
HCC: 30-2 in 12 overs
Staal is batting well out of his crease, and it seems to be working for him. He brings up the first four of the morning, uppishly finding the gap through point off Bukhari, and then in his next over creaming a lovely straight drive for another. Bell has replaced Muhammand, opening with a maiden, but Staal cracks a lovely square drive for another four. The pace begins to quicken.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  11:44
 Excelsior: 37-2 in 10 overs
Tariq claims the big wicket at Thurlede, messing up Ingram’s stumps via an inside edge to bring the recently returned Roel Verhagen to the crease.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  11:42
 VOC: 26-1 in 10 overs
Van Lent and van Baren strating to play some shots now after a period of consolidation, Tewarie brings Hans into the attack. On a slow deck spin will be the main test our correspondent suggests.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  11:40
 VRA 42-0 in 10 overs
Steady start for VRA at the Bos meanwhile, ter Braak and Singh have put up 42 without loss in the first ten.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  11:34
 Excelsior: 31-1 in 8 overs
one down at Thurlede too, Hussain removes Kroesen for 7. Ingram in witrh Etman.

HCC vs Sparta 1888  11:30
HCC: 13-2 in 6.1 overs
No argument about this one, as Ninan doesn’t even look at the umpire as Sparta go up again and heads for the dressing room. Two for the Bukhari-Buurman combination, as Bryce Street joins Staal.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  11.30
 HBS: 23-1 in 7 overs
Gomes looking to counterattack abbetted by a freshly-mown outfield. Botha into the attack bowling with three slips and a gully in, ACC very much on the hunt.

HCC vs Sparta 1888  11:18

HCC: 11-1 in 4 overs
Dost Muhammad starts from the Scoreboard End, and there’s some low comedy when a brilliant stop at cover almost leads to a run-out and instead produces an overthrow. But Muhammad and Bukhari are generating pace and movement, and life is far from easy for the batsmen at the moment.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  11:16
 VOC: 10-1 in 4 overs
And an early wicket at Hazelaarweg too, where VOC lose Jelte Schoonheim early, trapped in front by Davids. Some reckless running has gone unpunished so far, for which the hosts will be grateful. Rutgers and O’Dowd are both sidelined today, Maarten and Reinhout van Ierschort come into the side.

HCC vs Sparta 1888
11:11
HCC: 2-1 in 1 over
A sensational start at De Diepput, where a loud appeal for caught behind against Hidde Overdijk off the first ball of the match, bowled by Mudassar Bukhari from the City End, is answered in the affirmative by umpire Muthucumaru. Overdijk stands for a long time in visible disbelief. But he has to go, and Tonny Staal joins Ryan Ninan at the crease. A single apiece from the rest of the over.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  11.08
 HBS: 5-1 in 2 overs
Joy and relief early for ACC as Kumar strikes with his first ball, cramping the dangerous Visee for room and finding the edge as he looks to force a cut, gone for one. Gomes joins Coster in the middle.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  10:55
There’s a light overcast at De Diepput, with pale sun filtering through and the outfield as lush as ever, compensating somewhat for the shortness of the boundaries, especially square. It’s still one of the Netherlands’ most picturesque, as well as historic, grounds.

 ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout  10.48
Here at het Loopveld HBS have won the toss and will also bat.

Excelsior ’20 vs Punjab Rotterdam  10:42
Down at Thurlede Excelsior have the toss and they fancy a bat too.

VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti United  10:39
And word from Hazelaarweg, where VOC reckon it’s a bat first day too.

 Quick Haag vs VRA  10:37
Meanwhile at the Bos VRA have won the toss and decided to bat first.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  10:35
News from de Diepput, where Sparta have won the toss and asked HCC to bat.

 ⛅ Weather Update ⛅  10:21
It’s a fairly cool morning here in Amstelveen though it’s expected to warm up a bit later. Still some hazy cloud overhead but little to cause alarm. A full day of uninterrupted cricket looks likely, competent batting permitting.

 Bertus de Jong  10:16
Morning all and welcome again to out live coverage of the Topklasse as we enter the second half of the season. Another full round today, Rod should be at de Diepput any minute to keep an eye on HCC – Sparta, whilst I’m en route to het Loopveld where ACC take on HBS. A little further along Kalfjeslaan at the Bos VRA welcome the currently groundless Quick, whilst elsewhere Punjab head to Thurlede, and Dosti drop in on VOC. We’ll do our best to keep you abreast of all the action. In the meantime, as always there’s our preview and prognostications to keep you amused.
