Topklasse Live | Round 14 | As it Happened

 Bertus de Jong  18:30
So a good day to bat first. Bar VRA, who surprisingly recovered after a shambolic opening to get back on track to chase down Dosti’s 246 at the Bos, nobody even got close. With the higher-ranked sides all winning, today has had effectively no impact on either the relegation fight nor the race for the title, except to extend the gap between the two.

Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 221-10 (47.4 overs)
A two, a four and then caught, Lees’ innings ends on 44, caught in the deep straight down the ground. Dosti win by 25 runs despite the efforts of Borren, Cooper (who has been confirmed to be given out LBW) and Lees. The VRA chase looked more than shaky at the start, being 5-3 and all, but Davids ensured that there was no upset in the end. That’s all from de Bos, enjoy the end of the other games as they teeter towards results.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  17:59
ACC : 186 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 158 all out(~40 overs)
Sparta have duly capitulated. Details to follow.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  17:59
Excelsior : 192-7 (50 overs)
VOC : 137-8 (42 overs)
VOC don’t look like getting anywhere near these either,so long as Mullet’s in Excelsior will be nervous. He’s in the 20s but down to his penulatimate partner

 VRA vs Dosti-United  17:55
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 215-9 (47.1 overs)
Dosti claim the first of the 2 they need, Raja popping one up to mid off looking to go over the top from the first ball of this Davids over. Gul is the last man in for VRA. Lees on strike.

 Voorburg vs HCC  17:55
HCC : 237-6 (50 overs)
VCC : 159-9 (45 overs)
Voorburg’s chase drifting toward the inevitable still.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  17:52
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 215-8 (45 overs)
18 balls left, VRA need 32, Dosti still need 2 wickets. Good running from Lees has seen him race to 38, Raja is keeping him company nicely on 4.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  17:40
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 197-8 (45 overs)
5 overs to go in this VRA chase, a slightly expensive over here from Diwan, conceding 10. However, he picks up the wicket of Graber who is bowled for 5. VRA need 50 off 30 balls, Dosti need 2 wickets. Lees on 25, new man in is Raja.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   17.37
HBS : 323-7 (50 overs)
Quick : 108-7 (33 overs)
Diwan still there with Stokkers, who’s into the 30s, has got them to three figures and looks intent on batting out the overs at least. Required rate is 12s from here but it’s important to have goals.

Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 180-7 (41.2 overs)
Gunning goes for 0, LBW to Bali, as VRA lose another, the man replacing him is Graber. Lees not out on 15.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  17:25
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 179-6 (40.5 overs)
Confusion here at de Bos as Cooper is given out off the bowling of Hans, no one seems sure how, but the best guess is LBW. He goes for 114, a brilliant knock that has brought VRA close, however one feels this may be a bridge too far for them now. New man in is Gunning.

 Voorburg vs HCC  17:25
HCC : 237-6 (50 overs)
VCC : 122-7 (38 overs)
Wickets still falling at Westvliet, Boissevain and Kingma gone, Nic Smit still there but running out of partners.

Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 171-5 (40 overs)
Welcome to the final 10 overs of this gripping run chase, VRA will need to score at 7.6 runs an over if they are to pull this off. However, tighter lines from Hans and Bali has made scoring trickier. Cooper on 113, Lees on 7.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  17:22
Excelsior : 192-7 (50 overs)
VOC : 91-6 (35 overs)
Upadhyaya and Mullett are proving an obstinate pair, but VOC are still over 100 runs adrift with just 15 overs to go.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  17:12
ACC : 186 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 120-6 (30.3 overs)
Wicket continue to fall at Berweg, Buurman Caught behind off Barends, Manminder Singh falls to a spectacular catch from Saqib off Raza. Plenty of overs to go, 66 to get, but a lot on Bukhari here now.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  17:04
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 155-5 (35.6 overs)
Turmaine falls LBW to Davids for 1 as VRA lose 2 in an over. Will all that work from Cooper and Borren be for nothing? Lees is the new man in the middle at 7.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   17.03
HBS : 323-7 (50 overs)
Quick : 78-7 (24 overs)
The collapse arrives, three wickets in five balls as Brand is caught of Farshad Khan and Gibson strikes twice in three balls to remove Vierling and van Schelven. Diwan joins Stokkers in the middle

 VRA vs Dosti-United  16:57
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 153-4 (35.1 overs)
First ball of the next over sees Borren get the faintest of nicks to the keeper off the bowling of Davids in his first ball back in the attack. He goes for 43, the 148 run partnership comes to an end, Turmaine walks to the crease.

 Voorburg vs HCC  16:53
HCC : 237-6 (50 overs)

VRA : 151-3 (34.1 overs)
And that’s it, 100 up for Cooper, works this one from Hasif Hoisenbaks off his pads for 4 to bring it up off 94 balls. VRA need 96 to win with. 7 wickets in hand.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  16:47
Excelsior : 192-7 (50 overs)
VOC : 69-6 (26 overs)
Ignominious collapse at Thurelede. Edwards Seelaar and Schoonheim gone, the former caught and bowled by Ingram, the latter two fall in successive deliveries to Rens van Troost. Upadhyaya joins Mullett, both scoreless.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  16:44
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 140-3 (32 overs)
Cooper takes himself into the 90s and Borren into the 40’s as Dosti have gone 26 overs without a wicket. Required run rate of 4.54 for VRA as the bowling remains unchanged since the last update.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  16:36

 Voorburg vs HCC  16:35
HCC : 237-6 (50 overs)
VCC : 82-4 (22 overs)
De Lange caught and bowled Haye, Floyd in at six, VCC’s challenge is faltering here too.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  16:33
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 120-3 (27 overs)
127 runs to go for VRA, almost half way there. This partnership now worth 115, Cooper nears his ton on 83, Borren batting patiently on 30. Hoseinbaks and Bali bowling now, seeming to cause the most trouble since the opening spell with a couple loud LBW appeals.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   16:32
HBS : 323-7 (50 overs)
Quick : 50-4 (16 overs)
Gibson has Mol caught behind for 13, Stokkers joins Brand. Fifty up for Quick but the game is long gone.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  16:20
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 101-3 (23.3 overs)
100 up for VRA, brought up via a work-to-third-man boundary by Cooper.

 Voorburg vs HCC  16:25
HCC : 237-6 (50 overs)
VCC : 79-3 (20 overs)
Croes caught for 16 off Klaus, VCC under the pump again.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  16:22
Excelsior : 192-7 (50 overs)
VOC : 50-2 (19 overs)
Van Baren and Seelaar still the epitome of circumspection, 50 up in the 19th over.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  16:21
ACC : 186 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 57-3 (17.1 overs)

 VRA vs Dosti-United  16:15
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 92-3 (21 overs)
This partnership now worth a hefty 87 as Cooper, 66, and Borren, 19, bring VRA 155 runs away from the target with 28 overs to go. Pace still off the ball with Hans and Kohli bowling in tandem. I’ve been corrected, there are more like 90 spectators not the 20 odd I had guesstimated earlier. My apologies to the spectators.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  16:11
ACC : 186 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 55-2 (16 overs)
Fletcher and Raza for Sparta.

 Voorburg vs HCC  16:06
HCC : 237-6 (50 overs)
VCC : 58-2 (15 overs)
Nic Smit and Noah Croes for VCC now.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  16:02
Excelsior : 192-7 (50 overs)
VOC : 44-2 (15 overs)
Seelaar and van Baren digging in now, VOC need them to put some sort of partnership together.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  16:00
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 71-3 (18 overs)
50 up for Cooper from 40 balls as he is applauded by the 20-odd spectators around the ground. Good innings this but VRA will need him to make a lot more if they stand a chance in this run chase. Borren not out on 15, Hans and Kohli sharing the bowling duties. Now it’s time for drinks.

 Voorburg vs HCC  15:53
HCC : 237-6 (50 overs)
VCC : 40-2 (10 overs)
VCCs chase suddenly runs into trouble too, as de Grooth and Smit perish in swift succession, Ali Ahmed responsible for both wickets.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  15:47
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 51-3 (14 overs)
VRA’s 50 is brought up by Cooper depositing Hans over long on on the 3rd ball of the 13th over, his 2nd six of the day as he makes his way to 38. Borren on 7 at the other end. Kohli takes the ball at the Mulder end.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   15:48
HBS : 323-7 (50 overs)
Quick : 12-3 (5 overs)
Fair to say Westdijk has killed this chase in the crib. Knocks over Bista’s stumps off the inside edge in his third over, Brand joins Mol with Quick 3-down and still well over 300 behind

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  15:38
Excelsior : 192-7 (50 overs)
VOC : 25-2 (9 overs)
VOC lose their second too, Parchment again, van Lent the victim.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  15:36
ACC : 186 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 13-2 (5.3 overs)
Another down at Bermweg, as Barends has Tarr caught behind.

 Voorburg vs HCC  15:33
HCC : 237-6 (50 overs)
VCC : 20-0 (5 overs)
Meanwhile Tom de Grooth and Matt Smit have got VCC off to a comparatively serene start.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  15:31
ACC : 186 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 9-1 (3.3 overs)
Direct hit from Jamie Mulready sees ACC off to a good start, Snoep gone without scoring.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   15:29
HBS : 323-7 (50 overs)
Quick : 5-2 (1 over)
And they’re back on at Nieuw Hanenburg, and Berend Westdijk strikes twice in his first over. Van Gigch and Brain gone, Mol joins Bista.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  15:26
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 24-3 (10 overs)
VRA consolidating here with Cooper on 15 and Borren on 3 trying to prevent any further collapse, in the mean time we’ve seen no change in the bowling with Diwan and Davids still pushing on, even with Diwan carrying what looks like a suspected inner thigh injury since his first over.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  15:18
Excelsior : 192-7 (50 overs)
VOC : 7-1 (3 overs)
Big wicket early for Excelsior, Parchment cleans up the in-form O’Dowd for 1. Van Baren in.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  15:12
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 5-3 (5.6 overs)
And another goes for VRA, Lake opts for the expansive drive but can only find Davids at a slightly deep mid off. Short and not so sweet for Lake as Borren makes his way to the middle. Diwan and Davids combining for all the catches and wickets so far.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  15:11
Excelsior : 192-7 (50 overs)
VOC : 2-0 (1 over)
They’re back on at Thurlede too, van Lent and O’Dowd for VOC. They pick up a single each in the first over.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  15:06
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 2-2 (4.2 overs)
2 balls later we see Singh place one straight to the hands of Diwan at mid on, who adds, what can only be described as an eccentric dive afterwards. Singh goes for naught. Lake makes his way to the middle.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  15:02
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 2-1 (3.6 overs)
1st wicket down for VRA, Van den Burg bowled by Diwan for 1. His dismissal brings Cooper to the crease, Singh sits on 0.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  14:50
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
VRA : 0-0 (1 overs)
And we are back in de Bos, as suspected Singh and Van de Burg are out in the middle for VRA, with Davids opening the opening the bowling with a maiden from the Mulder end for Dosti. Diwan to share the new ball from the city end.

247 needed for VRA, won’t be easy Photo: Max Charlesworth

 Quick Haag vs HBS   14:42
HBS : 323-7 (50 overs)
Barresi falls in the final over, caught behind off Dake for 110 off 92. Dake follows that up by bowling Ahmed and Coster in succession to claim a consolation hattrick. Barresi’s done a job for his side though. 324 the target and that will take some chasing.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  14:35
ACC : 186 all out (50 overs)
An unbeateb 44 from Raza lifts ACC to 186, with last man Arya commendably run out on the final ball. Could be a competitive score at Berweg, that.

 Voorburg vs HCC  14:33
HCC : 237-6 (50 overs)
Some fine late hitting from Matt Haye sees HCC to 237-6, he finishes on 30 from not many.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  14:27
Excelsior : 192-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior finish on 192-7, Skipper Tom Heggeman’s half century the best fo the batting.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   14:23
HBS : 308-4 (47 overs)
Bista has Elkin caught for 85, but Barresi presses on with Gibason for company. Brings up his century and the 300 for HBS with a six, still 3 overs to go.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  14:22
Excelsior : 181-7 (49 overs)
Wickets tumbling at Thurlede too, Heggelman bowled van Baren for 52, Kroesen and Wourtersen follow him to the shed in short order.

 Voorburg vs HCC  14:18
HCC : 208-6 (48 overs)
Street falls trying to force the pace at the death, LBW to Kingma for 86. Itagi’s gone too, bowled by Floyd for 33. Overdijk run out in between, but 200 on the board at least.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   14:13
HBS : 276-3 (44 overs)
Barresi and Elkin still cruising along at sixes. Six overs to go and the 300 in sight. Barresi on 84*, Elkin 78*, both might be thinking about their centuries already too.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  14:07
Dosti : 246-6 (50 overs)
With 3 balls left in the innings, Davids is gone stumped by Lees of the bowling of Raja, and then cleans up Diwan bowled for a duck. New batsmen Masoon keeps the last ball out for a dot leaving VRA needing 247 to win after the luncheon interval. See you back here shortly.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  14:07
ACC : 151-7 (41.4 overs)
Another down at Bermweg, Barends caught behind off Bukhari for 32. 200 looking a long way off now.

 Voorburg vs HCC  14:01
HCC : 182-3 (44 overs)
Street and Itagi still for HCC, on 70* and 30*. Six overs to go and you’d think they’d be hitting out now.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   13:58
HBS : 247-3 (40 overs)
Barresi’s caught up to Elkin meanwhile, they’re on 69* and 68* and HBS will be looking to get well north of 300 from here..

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  13:57
ACC : 140-6 (40 overs)
ACC have consolidated somewhat since that flurry of wickets, but need to kick on here if they’re to get much over 200.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  13:53
Dosti : 230-4 (47 overs)
With 3 overs to go the big shots have started to come out, however, boundaries have proved difficult to find for Rahil Ahmed (25) and Davids (19), only 1 in the last 5 overs, and that off a misfield. Raja to continue from the Mulder end.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  13:52
Excelsior : 158-4 (44.4 overs)
Some belated acceleration at Thurlede, Parchment the man largely responsible, but he’s caught off Seelaar for 42.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  13:41
Dosti : 202-4 (43 overs)
200 up for Dosti in the 43rd over, wickets seem to have slowed the scoring down and they couldn’t have come at a better time for VRA, they’ll be hoping to keep them under 240 at this stage, but with wickets in hand we’ll have to wait and see.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   13:38
HBS : 203-3 (35 overs)
200 up for HBS with 15 overs to go, Barresi and Elkin both closing in on their fifties.

 Voorburg vs HCC  13:34
HCC : 144-3 (37 overs)
Fifty for Street, Itagi with him now.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  13:33
Dosti : 194-4 (41.5 overs)
And another wicket falls, this time the other set batsmen in Singh, 8 short of his ton he holes out to mid off, off the bowling of Turmaine. VRA have brought themselves back into this match, however these last 10 overs will be crucial. The new man in is Davids.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  13:31
Excelsior : 109-3 (36 overs)
Slow going at Excelsior as Heggelman and Parchment eke out the runs, been going at threes since Ingram’s wicket ten overs ago.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  13:31
ACC : 106-6 (32.3 overs)
ACC belatedly bring up three figures but they lose another wicket, Saqib Zulfiqar trapped LBW by Ibrahimi.

Lovely day for it at VRA Photo: Max Charlesworth

 Quick Haag vs HBS   13:18
HBS : 176-3 (30 overs)
Renewed acceleration at Nieuw Hanenburg, Barresi the man driving the scoring now. He’s almost caught up to Elkin already, they’re on 34* and 35* respectively. Mol and van Schelven operating now for Quick.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  13:13
Dosti : 174-3 (36.5 overs)
Its wicket time here in de Bos as Kohli falls for a very well made 81. Looking to take Borren over the top down the ground, all he can do is pop it up for an easy catch straight to the waiting hands of Gunning at mid-on. Singh still there on 82, the new man to the crease is Rahil Ahmed.

 Voorburg vs HCC  13:04
HCC : 125-3 (33 overs)
Breakthrough at Westvliet meanwhile, Gorlee deposits a Boissevain full toss into the hands of mid on, gone for 42.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  13:12
Excelsior : 101-3 (33 overs)
Hundred up for Excelsior in the 33rd, still Parchment and Heggelman.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  13:11
Dosti : 170-2 (36 overs)
Singh into the attack for VRA as the Dosti partnership crosses 150. Irritation for VRA as Singh supposedly bowls Singh but the bails fail to be dislodged. With 14 overs to go it seems that the Dosti batsmen will look to accelerate again shortly in hopes of perhaps pushing the 300 mark.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  13:06
ACC : 98-5 (30 overs)
Ship-steadying the order of the day at Bermweg too, ACC’s mini-collapse now some 30 runs behind them. Competitive score still a ways off though with the visitors still in double figures and only 20 overs to go.

 Voorburg vs HCC  13:04
HCC : 113-2 (30 overs)
Street and Gorlee still accumulating steadily, both well into the 30s now and closing in on a century partnership.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   13:00
HBS : 152-3 (26 overs)
150 on the board for HBS as Barresi and Elkin steady the ship after van Gigch’s boat-rocking exploits, Crows still set for a big score here, but Dake has returned to the field.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  12:58
Dosti : 152-2 (32 overs)
150 up for Dosti in this, the 32 over. This partnership has not looked like breaking besides a half chance at silly-mid on 2 overs prior, smart cricket shots and gap finding means the batsmen are coasting to what looks to be a more than highly competitive total. Both batsmen in the 70’s now, Kohli on 73 and Singh on 71 whilst Borren replaces Turmaine at the City end.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  12:48
Excelsior : 79-3 (26 overs)
Big wicket at Thurlede, O’Dowd has Ingram caught behind for 3. Parchment joins Heggelman, who’s on 22.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  12:45
Dosti : 140-2 (29 overs)
Another 50 up in de Bos as Singh reaches his milestone in 79 balls, in the meantime this 3rd wicket stand has also exceeded 100 runs. VRA will need a wicket soon to stay right in this match, however these 2 batsmen are well and truly settled with chances few and far between. Gul has replaced Raja at the Mulder end.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   12:45
HBS : 138-3 (22 overs)
A third for van Gigch! Singh caught Bista at long on to bring Barresi to the crease.

 Voorburg vs HCC  12:40
HCC : 92-2 (25 overs)
Street and Gorlee setting a platform for HCC. No apparent urgency as yet.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  12:36
ACC : 67-5 (21.3 overs)
Something of a collapse at Bermweg meanwhile as Sikander Zulfiqar is caught behind off Saleem without scoring, and Jamie Mulready is run out for one.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   12:35
HBS : 128-2 (20 overs)
Another for van Gigch, holds a return catch off Gomes, Navjit Singh joins Elkin, who’s on 22 now.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  12:35
Excelsior : 70-2 (22.2 overs)
Excelsior lose their second, Verhagen bowled Upadhyaya for 27.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  12:28
Dosti : 110-2 (24 overs)
100 up for Dosti in the 23rd over. Spin from both ends now for VRA with Turmaine introduced into the attack from the City end to partner Raja, the boundaries have somewhat dried up but plenty of singles still available for Kohli and Singh who are on 58 and 41 respectively.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   12:25
HBS : 120-1 (17.2 overs)
Seems Quick have an answer after all, in the form of Bob van Gigch who has Visée caught next ball, 88 from 60 his final score. Gomes joins Elkin.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  12:25
ACC : 66-3 (18.5 overs)
ACC lose another as Rehmat is bowled by Saleem.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   12:24
HBS : 120-0 (17.1 overs)
Quick have no answers in the face of Visée’s belligerence, not helped by the fact that Dake’s had to leave the field after bowling five overs, struggling with his ankle. Visée on 88 off 59 now and accelerating.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  12:18
Dosti : 94-2 (21 overs)
50 up for Kohli off 46 balls, Singh rests on 33 at the other end. These 2 continue to build, their partnership now worth a more than handy 81. VRA still prying for that wicket with more pace off the ball coming from Raja at the Mulder end.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  12:10
ACC : 62-2 (16 overs)
ACC lose another, Rasool clean bowled by Snoep.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  12:07
Dosti : 79-2 (18 overs)
Double bowling change in de Bos, as Borren replaces Graber and Cooper replaces Gunning, not much movement through the air anymore, one could even say it looks a little flat out there.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  12:06
Excelsior : 52-1 (14 overs)
And for Excelsior too, one over sooner. Verhagen and Heggelman at bat.

 Voorburg vs HCC  12:05
HCC : 50-2 (15 overs)
Fifty up for HCC after 15 overs, still Street and Gorlee in the middle.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   12:02
HBS : 84-0 (13 overs)
Visée getting into the swing of things ahead of his upcoming double T20 franchise stints. He’s on 65 off 49 balls, 12 fours and now the first six. Elkin more or less a spectator on 9 off 29.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  11:57
Dosti : 61-2 (15 overs)
50 up for Dosti as they put the pressure back on the bowlers with a flurry of boundaries, 5 in the last 3 overs. Graber has replaced Gul at the Mulder end as Singh makes his way to 25 and Kohli one ups him by one run.

 Voorburg vs HCC  11:56
HCC : 46-2 (13 overs)
Street and Gorlee rebuilding for HCC meanwhile.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   11:52
HBS : 70-0 (11 overs)
And another fifty for Toby Visee.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  11:50
ACC : 54-1 (11.2 overs)
First wicket at Bermweg too, Marais run out for 32.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  11:40
Dosti : 35-2 (11 overs)
11 overs in and the Dosti batsmen have tentatively made their way to 35 for 2, apart from the last over from Gunning which conceded 10 from it. Gul and Gunning bowling unchanged so far, Kohli on 13, Singh on 12.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  11:42
Excelsior : 34-1 (8.4 overs)
First down at Thurlede, Hanif has Etman caught at slip.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   11:37
HBS : 39-0 (7 overs)
HBS off to a good start too, Visee dominating the scoring as usual, he’s on 29 off 33, Elkin with him on 2 off 9. Mason and Dake opening the bowling.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  11:35
ACC : 39-0 (8 overs)
Solid start for ACC meanwhile, Marais and Rehmat Zulfiqar opening the batting, Bukhari and Hoornweg share the new ball for Sparta.

 Voorburg vs HCC  11:30
HCC : 25-2 (6 overs)
Double breakthrough at Wesvliet, Glover does for Wiffen and Floyd has Staal caught. Street and Gorlee in.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  11:19
Dosti : 13-2 (5.1 overs)
Gul picks up another as a visibly (and audibly) delighted Borren takes the catch at first slip, slow scoring here from the Dosti batsmen in the middle as Singh joins Kohli who sits on 4.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  11:14
Excelsior : 10-0 (2 overs)
A certain wildness seems to have affected VOC’s new-ball attack at Thurlede: Tim Etman 2, Roel Verhagen yet to score, extras 8.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  11:07
Dosti : 4-1 (1.6 overs)
It’s Gul who gets the early breakthrough for VRA, Tewarie edging to 2nd slip with a sharp grab from Lake. Kohli makes his way to the middle.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  11:02
Dosti : 3-0 (1 overs)
Gunning takes the new ball from the City end for VRA, Tewarie and Bali both pierce the gap on the offside to get themselves, and their team off the mark. Gul to take duty at the other end.

And the scorecard from yesterday’s game for all you fantasy fanatics.

 📷 New Gallery 📷  10:44
While we wait for things to get started, why not check out Sander’s photo’s from VRA vs VOC yesterday.

 Sparta 1888 vs ACC  10:46
ACC :
Saqib Zulfiqar is another who calls correctly, and ACC too will bat first.

 Voorburg vs HCC  10:44
HCC :
Tonny Staal, though, gets it right, and HCC will bat.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC  10:42
Excelsior :
Pieter Seelaar has also called incorrectly, and Tom Heggelman decides to have a bat.

 Quick Haag vs HBS   10:40
HBS :
Quick have won the toss at Nieuw Hanenburg and chosen to have a bowl.

 VRA vs Dosti-United  10:35
Dosti :
First news comes from the Bos, where Vinoo Tewarie has called correctly and elected to bat.Used wicket here at VRA due to the first game of the double header weekend yesterday, interesting to see how it will play in the second innings.

 Bertus de Jong  09:55
And good morning again, we’re back for the rest of the round. And a much more promising day today with the sun out and five matches in store. VRA will look to make it two in a row when they take on Dosti at the Bos, whilst VOC will look to bounce back as they take on table-toppers Excelsior at Thurlede. HCC meanwhile will be at Westvliet looking to take two points off Voorburg to keep in the hunt for the title, whilst Sparta and Quick, having fallen further behind the pack, will both be looking to take points off title contenders ACC and HBS respectively. All this and more in the preview as ever, tosses in a little over half an hour…

 Bertus de Jong  19:46
All sorts of drama today, and again VRA and VOC have delivered a cracker. The weather robbed us of a fair few overs where VOC might have fought back, but Borren and Cooper’s partnership proved game-defining in the end, together with the dogged Matt Lake surviving at least to the rain break, a small detail that likely added about 15 runs to the total. Pieter Seelaar and support made more than a game of it, van Baren and Mullet chipping in to keep VOC in the hunt to the end, but the hosts held their nerve and closed out a deserved win. Those two points will be invaluable as the relegation race heats up, one which VOC have arguably joined today. Along with Dosti both sides have a four-point margin to defend over the trailing sides Sparta and Quick, though with Quick having played an extra game there’s a fair cushion for all three as it stands. That could all change tomorrow of course, so join us again then.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  19:34
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC :181-9 (25 overs)
Hard run two, and not hard enough run two as Ashiqullah is run out off the second ball. Single and another chancy two, bunted single and a comedy run out to finish as Durrani is sent back on the second, presumably to protect Forget’s Topklasse average, which is currently infinite.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  19:26
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC :174-7 (24 overs)
Graber has definitely Fletcher caught calmly in the deep by Szwarzcynski off a big top edge. Durrani in, 15 needed off the last over. Borren to bowl it.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  19:22
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC :169-6 (23 overs)
Seelaar dropped off Graber at deep midwicket but doesn’t cost too much in the end, big appeal for LBW on the next ball, or bowled? Nobody seems to know. Seelaar half-way down the track and the bails are off, Lees says it’s nothing to do with him. Eventually we work out Seelaar’s likely trod on his stumps. Probably. Umpires have said it was bowled but it definitely wasn’t. Mullet was though a few balls later. Ashiqullah and somebody else, probably Fletcher, now with a job to do. Probably Fletcher starts well carting Cooper over long on for six.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  19:13
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC :148-4 (21 overs)
Mullett getting in on this too, big six over long on off Borren after Seelaar had put a wide half volley away behind point. Looks like VOC will cruise this if these two stay together. 41 needed.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  19:09
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC :134-4 (20 overs)
Seelaar brings up his fifty putting Graber back over his head, looks in a mood to win it himself 55 needed from the last five. Still Borren at the Mulders end.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  19:00
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC :111-4 (18 overs)
Mullett in now with Seelaar, and they’re finding twos at times but boundaries hard to come by. They’re aboput in touch but VRA will feel one wicket will seal it here, required rate in double figures and not much batting to come.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  18:45
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC : 81-4 (13 overs)
Spin at both ends now with Turmaine and Cooper in tandem, and after what by the sounds of it was a speculative appeal for caught off a likely bump ball, Cooper bags the fourth, Edwards lofting a drive toward long on where Singh judges it well enough, clinging on diving forward.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  18:35
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC : 68-3 (10 overs)
VOC about where the’d want to be, at least until Gunning uproots van Baren’s off stump. Seelaar traditionally the bigger wicket but VRA will be glad to see the back of van Baren, who had been driving the scoring. Edwards in.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  18:25
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC : 54-2 (8 overs)
They’re swinging hard and running harder, with mixed results. Lofted drive from van Baren to put Gunning back over long off the pick of the shots so far, though thick edges also proving productive. Borren replaces Gul.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  18:15
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC : 31-2 (5 overs)
Big wicket there! O’Dowd half forward, through the gate looked like from here, admittedly at a distance. Either way his stumps aren’t looking healthy. “$35k out, $35k in” jokes some wag on the balcony as Pieter Seelaar replaces O’Dowd at the crease.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  18:09
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC : 28-1 (4 overs)
Three dots on the trot and pressure tells, Gunning has van Lent fending to Borren at slip. Van Baren at three, another dot, and then a glanced four to fine leg off the last deprives him of a wicket maiden.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  18:05
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC : 24-0 (3 overs)
No fun at all bowling to O’Dowd at the moment. Drives Gunning hard over the leaping man at mid off to the rope, two balls later whips him off his pads for four more. Van Lent pulls out a fine looking square drive off Gul to pick up his first boundary next over, great start for VOC.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  17:55
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
VOC : 3-0 (1 over)
So a quick turnaround here thanks to the exemplary work of the curator Prasad. 189 is the target, 25 overs to get there. Haseeb Gul takes the new ball for VRA, O’Dowd and van Lent for VOC. Just three off the first, Gunning from the other end.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  17:40
VRA : 154-6 (25 overs)
Gunning finds himself facing for the last over, and makes a pretty decent fist of it. Hard swept four bisecting the men on the rope on the second ball was the highlight, hard run two on every other ball gets them 14 off it. 154-6 the total, though the target will likely be 185-190 from 25. Details when we get them.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  17:36
VRA : 140-6 (24 overs)
Pace odff and bowl filth proving a winning tactic for VOC here. Durani had Lake caught in the deep off a full toss, Lees runs himslef out, and Borren slaps Seelaar to cover. O’Dowd to bowl the last.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  17:19
VRA : 128-3 (22 overs)
Half six restart is the word. 25 each way, so VRA get three more overs to have a slog. Reckon DLS will add another 30-35 on top of whatever they end up with.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  16:55
VRA : 128-3 (22 overs)
well we’ve had quite astorm blow through here, but the sun’s back now and there’s no more rain expected for a while. VRA will likely get back on for a handful of overs, and DLS will likely add a fair chunk of runs to the eventual total.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  16:19
VRA : 128-3 (22 overs)
Never mind all that, it’s raining again.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  16:18
VRA : 128-3 (22 overs)
Optimistic talk of a restart, with an almighty downpour about five minutes out says the radar. Another four overs off each innings as it stands.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  15:48
VRA : 128-3 (22 overs)
Borren and Lake survive a dangerous passage of play with the rain clearly inbound. Takes them a while to come off even when it arrives, much to the irritation of the scorers who are entirely exposed. Your humble correspondent to the rescue armed with the world’s worst umberella, and somehow we all get through it. VRA will be pretty happy to get to the rain just three down, DLS likely playing in their favour now as overs come off.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  15:31
VRA : 114-3 (19 overs)
Just when this pair looked to have the game by the scruff of the neck, Cooper throws it away. Short from Ashiqullah and pulled down the throat of deep square. Cooper gone for 30 and Borren looks at least as annoyed about it as Cooper himself. Matt Lake at five.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  15:18
VRA : 92-2 (16 overs)
Flow of the game decidedly shifting in the hosts’ favour now, Borren puts Seelaar high and hard over the sightscreen for six, and the brings up the fifty partnership chipping him over mid on next ball. Wide down leg evades Edwards to add to the misery.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  15:08
VRA : 68-2 (13 overs)
Fletcher’s next goes for eleven, Cooper and Borren both happy to take a chance over the infield. Seelaar brings himself on looking to stem the flow but a lofted drive by Cooper over mid off spoils his first over. Borren clips Hanif off his toes to bisect the fielders behind square, this pair buliding some momentum now. They’ve doubled the score in four overs and VOC could use that third wicket right about now.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  14:52
VRA : 34-2 (9 overs)
Van den Burg wasn’t really seeing them, looks to be struggling with his right leg too after a hard-run three too many. Bobby Hanif gives him an excuse to go have a sit down, disarranging his stumps with his first ball. Borren in at four and off the mark second ball with a straight driven four.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  14:48
VRA : 30-1 (8 overs)
Fletcher looks to have both batsmen in a spot of bother, Cooper drives him square for four but leaves the next just inches over the stumps, big shout for LBW on the next too. Ashiqullah has rather less luck though, a hard run three and four leg byes down leg, then insult to injury as Cooper survives a very adjacent LWB shout hit low on the full. A lot of potential runs in that call, remarks VRA skipper Peter Borren on the boundary.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  14:30
VRA : 11-1 (4 overs)
Some nice shots for none so far, Singh and van den Burg finding fielders in front of the wicket, though Singh has the first boudary to his name, a fines straight drive off Fletcher in the second over. It will be the only one he scores today though as Fletcher nicks him off in his next. Cooper in at three.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  14:18
VRA : 4-0 (1 over)
We’re off! Ashiqullah opens the bowling from the Mulders end, Singh and van den Burg for VRA. Attractive drive through the covers from the latter the high-point, just a couple though. Fletcher from the other end.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  13:48
And we’ve had a toss, Pieter Seelaar calls correctly and VOC will chase.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  13:30
Lovely weather here now. Most unexpected. Both teams present and correct, getting some lunch down for a 2.15 start. 38 overs each way as it stands.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  12:55
Honest to goodness sunshine here now. VRA have got the cones out. VOC had best get a move on…

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  12:20
They’ve had a look and everyone’s pretty positive. VOC have been summoned. Will be a while yet, early lunch is the plan, but barring a lot more rain we should have plenty of overs this afternoon.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  11:35
Not raining now, but there’s another hefty shower headed our way if the radar is to be trusted. VOC are on call, but their hosts judiciously warned them off getting up early for nothing. They’re expected in about an hour, no chance of play before then but the feeling is we’ll get a game of some sort in this afternoon.

 VRA vs VOC Rotterdam  10:45
Brightening up, but still raining. Toss delayed for the forseaable.

 Bertus de Jong  10:16
Good morning all, or rather quite a bad morning really, at least for cricket. Drizzling already as I make my way to Amstelveen for VRA – VOC, and likely to get worse before it gets better. Expect a long wait this morning, though it is supposed to clear up eventually. The outlook’s much better for tomorrow though, when of course we have a full slate of games on. More on that, as ever, in the preview.
