The Topklasse table after Round 3

  Rod Lyall  17:54
Another eventful day’s cricket, and there’s no question now that the teams to beat are VRA, Punjab and HCC. ACC pricked Sparta’s bubble, and HBS registered the easiest win of the round after another woeful batting performance from Dosti. Top individual performers were Stef Myburgh, Pieter Seelaar and Boris Gorlee with the bat, while ACC’s Mees van Vliet caused a mild sensation with wickets from the first two deliveries of the match, finishing with four. He was outdone, though, by Wessel Coster, who took five for 16 for HBS. HCC will be at home to VRA next week, and that should be a cracker. We hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage today, and that we’ll have your company again next Sunday. In the meantime, come back to look at Sander’s photos from Thurlede, and my review of all today’s games. This is Rod Lyall saying goodbye for now, wherever you are.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  17:50
HCC : 235-7 (50 overs)
Voorburg: 148 all out (46.5 overs)
And the answer is . . . 87 runs. A figure which sends a chill through any Australian. It’s our Nelson (and by the way, Voorburg lost four wickets on 111 today).

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  17:40
HCC : 235-7 (50 overs)
Voorburg: 139-8 (44 overs)
Voorburg battle on, but Alyan Razzaqi is run out and with six overs left the only question is how big HCC’s winning margin will be.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  17:20
HCC : 235-7 (50 overs)
Voorburg: 111-7 (37 overs)
The wheels now falling off with a vengeance – two more wickets in an over, one of them Floris de Lange for 30. Pretty much settled, you’d think.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  17:18
HCC : 235-7 (50 overs)
Voorburg: 111-5 (36 overs)
And it’s looking increasingly as if that will be HCC, as that crucial partnership is broken. De Leede certainly one of the two recent wickets.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   17:13
VOC : 197-6 (50 overs)
Punjab: 198-4 (38.1 overs)
That was bizarre. With the online score showing 183-4 the players suddenly started shaking hands and walking off. Eventually we discover that the correct total was 198 for four, with Stef Myburgh finishing on 105 not out. Full marks to VOC for putting on a live stream of their matches this season, but there’s really little point if you can’t ensure that the scoreline is correct. At any event, Punjab have a comfortable victory, and join VRA and whoever wins at Westvliet on three out of three.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   16:50
VOC : 197-6 (50 overs)
Punjab: 172-4 (34 overs)
Myburgh acknowledges the applause for his hundred – the first by anyone this season – although the online score we’re following has him only on 95.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  16:51
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
Excelsior : 95 all out (28.1 overs)
Van Troost joins the procession now, drilling a full ball back at Borren who takes a fine low catch diving left. Bhatti the last man joins Baker, and Singh finishes it off with the first ball of the next over, back of a length and drawing the edge from Baker, Gunning shows how it’s done at slip.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   16:50
VOC : 197-6 (50 overs)
Punjab: 163-4 (32.4 overs)
Myburgh into the nineties, but he loses another partner as Sikander Zulfiqar (for, apparently, it was he) edges Rohan Malik into his stumps. He’s replaced by another Zulfiqar, Saqib we’re assured.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  16:47
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
Excelsior : 92-8 (27 overs)
Gunning will have to settle for four again, case to be made that he deserved seven today. Singh into the attack now replacing Nashier at the far end. Van Troost still there on 20, with Baker for company. He’ll be facing for the 28th as Borren returns to replace Gunning, who finishes with 4-31.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  16:03
HCC : 235-7 (50 overs)
Voorburg: 77-3 (25 overs)
Bas de Leede and Floris de Lange are rebuilding the Voorburg innings after that disastrous eleventh over, but they’re going to need a real acceleration of the tempo before too long if they’re to get anywhere near their target.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  16:37
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
Excelsior : 77-8 (24 overs)
Gunning gets his fourth, finds Kroesen’s outside edge and that’s gone straight to Borren at third slip. But reason to feel aggrieved again as he draws a leading edge only to watch it drop short of the fielder belatedly running in off the circle.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   16:32
VOC : 197-6 (50 overs)
Punjab: 125-3 (27.2 overs)
Schoonheim castles Usman, whose 15 came from 14 deliveries, and VOC may think they’re not out of this yet. But in comes Saqib Zulfiqar to join Myburgh.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  16:24
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
Excelsior : 66-7 (20 overs)
Gunning should have had another in his next as Schewe is dropped in the ever-expanding slip cordon. Regulation chance but the reprieve looks unlikely to help the home side. Nashier from the other end with a tidy over, giving just one away, and Gunning claims his third in the next over, as edges through to the keeper, but ought to have five by now as another edge flies through the cordon next ball.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   16:24
VOC : 197-6 (50 overs)
Punjab: 123-2 (26 overs)
Yasir Usman doesn’t believe in hanging around either and he goes after Van Wingerden, hitting him for a four and a six. The lad comes back well though, finishing the over with three dots. Myburgh now on 65.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   16:19
Sparta 101 all out (33.3 overs)
ACC: 102-5 (29.3 overs)
ACC finish the job at ‘t Loopveld, but not before Hoornweg chimes in with two more wickets, getting Burnett for 35 and Raza for 16 with the Amsterdammers on the brink of victiory. It’s left to Shreyas Potdar and Ananda Krishna to see their side home, Hoornweg finiging with a creditable three for 23.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  16:14
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
Excelsior : 57-6 (16 overs)
The chase is unravelling fast now as Kroesen departs spooning Raja high in the air toward mid off, where Cooper comes in to take the catch. Heinsbroek in but doesn’t last long, he’s cleaned up by Gunning in the next over. Hosts on the ropes now as Schewe joins van Troost.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   16:14
VOC : 197-6 (50 overs)
Punjab: 105-2 (23 overs)
The hundred’s up for Punjab, Myburgh now on 62 and Asad Zulfiqar now beginning to go for his shots as well, the best of them a lovely off drive off Jain. But the bowler gets his revenge a couple of balls later, he takes a smart return catch.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  16:04
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
Excelsior : 56-4 (14 overs)
Gunning brought back for the 14th and instant results. Hurries Ingram on the pull and a Zaman holds the catch at deep backward square. Huge wicket to bring Rens van Troost to the middle. Kroesen still there on 24*.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  16:03
HCC : 235-7 (50 overs)
Voorburg: 43-3 (11 Overs)
And Tom de Grooth goes in the same over, a very good one indeed for HCC. They’re starting to take a grip on this game, barring more heroics from Bas de Leede and, of course, Philippe Boissevain.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  16:00
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
Excelsior : 55-3 (13 overs)
Etman doesn’t last long, Raja finds his edge in the next over and held well by Gunning at slip. Ingram in at five and that’ll be the wicket they want. He takes three off Turmaine’s next as Borren persists with spin, Raja giving little away at the other end either.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  15:52-
HCC : 235-7 (50 overs)
Voorburg: 43-2 (10.? Overs)
A good start by the home side, reaching 43 in the first ten overs. But then Righardt Pieterse goes caught behind, and almost immediately afterwards Aryan Dutt is run out.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  15:48
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
Excelsior : 30-2 (10 overs)
Pace off the ball as Borren turns to spin, Raja and Turmaine now. Verhagen and Kroesen still finding runs though, Verhagen on the front foot to drive Turmaine through long off, then lifts him over Cooper at mid on two balls later. Gets a bit carried away perhaps and the final ball of the over fails to clear Cooper, who takes it comfortably above his head. Niels Etman in at four.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   15:45
VOC : 197-6 (50 overs)
Punjab: 70-1 (16 overs)
The news from Hazelaarweg is that Myburgh and Asad Zulfiqar are still together, the former closing in on a half-century. Bobby Hanif is back for Schoonheim, with young Siebe van Wingerden operating from the Pavilion End.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  15:34
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
Excelsior : 30-1 (6 overs)
Dots and shots here. Kroesen uses Borren’s pace to lift him over backward square, then Verhagen with a cracking pair of back foot punched drives through the off side off Gunning next over and then follows it up with a lofted staight one that is over in one bounce.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   15:34
Sparta 101 all out (33.3 overs)
ACC: 66-3 (20 overs)
Manminder Singh has removed Ram Ramesh Babu for 9, but Burnett has moved on to 25 and has been joined by Anis Raza in the middle.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  15:27
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
Excelsior : 8-1 (4 overs)
Kroesen off the mark with arguably the shot of the day, back foot drive off Borren and screaming away to the rope through cover. Slow going for the rest though.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   15:20
VOC : 197-6 (50 overs)
Punjab: 42-1 (8 overs)
A wicket for Jelte Schoonheim, replacing Hanif from the Airport End, as Rehmat is well caught on the midwicket boundary by someone who definitely ISN’T Pieter Seelaar. Myburgh is joined by Asad Zulfiqar.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  15:15
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
Excelsior : 0-1 (1 over)
We’re back and instant action as Borren with the new ball and strikes with the first delivery rising off a length and Luuk Kroesen can only fend at it, edging through to stand-in keeper Szwarczynski who makes no mistake. Joost Kroesen at three. Wicket maiden. Gunning from the other end.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   15:00
VOC : 197-6 (50 overs)
Punjab: 34-0 (4 overs)
Myburgh has moved on to 25 from 12 deliveries, with Rehmat much more circumspect at the other end. But Punjab don’t need to do anything silly here. Plenty of overs in hand.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   14:57
Sparta 101 all out (33.3 overs)
ACC: 45-2 (13 overs)
A wicket for Max Hoornweg, Mulready caught by Faisal Iqbal for 18. Ramesh Babu joins Burnett, who’s on 13.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   14:49
VOC : 197-6 (50 overs)
Punjab: 14-0 (1 over)
They’re back at the Hazelaarweg as well, and Stef Myburgh begins menacingly, smacking two fours and a six off Arnav Jain’s opening over. Bobby Hanif from the Airport End to Rehmat Zulfiqar.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  14:39
VRA : 244 all out (49.3 overs)
And they leave three balls unused as Dasgupta drives uppishly to extra cover where Schewe takes a fine low catch diving forward. 244 the total, VRA may feel they left some runs out there but with the ball not really coming on that’ll take some chasing for the title-holders.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  14:35
VRA : 241-9 (49 overs)
Good running and some comedy overthrows sees them take seven of Gijs Kroesen in the 48th.Ingram returns and has Gunning caught on the pull, but it’s a no ball. He’ll have to settle for Turmaine’s wicket as Heinsbroek holds the next catch coming in off the long on rope. Dasgupta in but they’ve crossed, happily for Gunning who heaves Ingram away over midwicket for four more. He’s gone two balls later though looking for an impossible single. Handy cameo though. Raja in, Raja out. Dasgupta drives straight and Ingram collects, spins round and takes the bails with Raja well out of the crease. Nashier in.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  14:33-
HCC : 235-7 (50 overs)
Overdijk’s wicket (he made 61) is followed by those of Clayton Floyd and, finally, Gorlee for 81, but that’s a pretty solid effort by HCC. Two wickets apiece for Viv Kingma, Ali Ahmed Qasim and Bas de Leede.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   14:26
Sparta 101 all out (33.3 overs)
ACC: 19-1 (6 overs)
They’re back on at ‘t Loopveld, and an early strike by Sparta as Faisal Iqbal removes McInerney without scoring. Cameron Burnett joined by young Jamieson Mulready.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  14:25
VRA : 227-6 (47 overs)
Borren brings up fifty with a contemptuous one-handed slap through extra cover off Bhatti, but is castled next ball looking to go over the on side. Gunning in and a gimme first up from Bhatti, short and wide and put away wide of long off. The next is in the slot and launched over midwicket. Ten off two for Gunning. Handy.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  14:18
VRA : 208-5 (45 overs)
Turmaine flicks Bhatti fine down leg for his first boundary in the 45th, then clubs a full toss over midwicket for a couple more. Tight single to long on is a run-out chance at least in Bhatti’s assessment, but the throw is just wide. Insult to injury next ball as a misfield on the square rope allows Borren to take three and the strike. Expensive over.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  14:12-
HCC : 196-5 (45.5 overs)
Overdijk goes, trying to force the pace and beaten by a slower ball from Ali Ahmed Qasim. Not before he’d reached his half-century, though, and subsequently putting Qasim over the rope. Gorlee’s still there.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  14:08
VRA : 193-5 (43 overs)
Bhatti returns and claims another victim, Rasool looks to glance one down leg but it’s off the pad, umpire lets him run the length of the pitch before allowing him a close-up view of a raise finger. Turmaine joins Borren, who has 38 to his name.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   14:06
VOC : 197-6 (50 overs)
Seelaar finishes on 93 not out, a six in the final over just not quite enough to get him the first century of the season. But undoubtedly a greatly improved effort by VOC with the bat, and something to bowl at.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  14:02-
HCC : 173-4 (44 overs)
And a century partnership for HCC’s fifth wicket, with Gorlee now on 64 and Overdijk on 45.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  13:56
VRA : 184-4 (41 overs)
Gijs Kroesen now from the far end, and tidy enough from him. Cooper kept waiting for his fifty. Borren down the track next over to put Ingram deep into his own dugout where Vikram Singh nearly clings on to the catch, but at least keeps the ball out of the water. Two balls later and Cooper’s impatience undoes him, skewed drive flies high into the off side where Luuk Kroesen comes in to take the catch and send Cooper back for 49. Rasool in at six.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  13:42
VRA : 166-3 (38 overs)
Borren drives the first ball of Baker’s final over through long off for four, but the rest is tidy enough. Borren’s clearly looking to force the pace though. An thin inside edge into the pads on the drive off Rens van Troost brings an appeal, he connects with the next though and it’s away over long on for four. Cooper puts the ball in the same place two balls later with a lofted drive through long off to move to 44*. Ingram returns.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   13:42
VOC : 172–4 (44 overs)
Pieter Seelaar on 77 now, and the fifth-wicket stand is worth over a hundred.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   13:38
Sparta 101 all out (33.3 overs)
Antony Alangara Napoleon grabs the last two wickets for ACC, bowling both Usman Saleem and Nasrat Ibrahimkhill as Sparta finish on 101. Mees van Vliet has four for 39 and Charles McInerney four for 26..

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  13:31
VRA : 143-3 (35 overs)
Drinks break seems to have spoiled Szwarczynski’s concentration, he goes first over back driving Baker to Joost Kroesen at cover, goes for 61. Borren at five joins Cooper, who’s on 37*, and the VRA skipper drives his first ball over the long on rope for four.

 HBS vs Dosti-United  13:30
Dosti : 84 all out (21.2 overs)
HBS: 85-1 (9.1 overs)
All over at Craeyenhout. Visée went for a 24-ball 67, just before the end, caught behind by Ravichandran off Touseef Ahmed, after hitting six fours and five sixes. But Wessel Coster and Reece Mason finished it off.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  13:16
VRA : 133-2 (33 overs)
Rens van Troost returns and is put high over midwicket by Cooper. Schewe out there on the rope looks well set to haul it back in, takes the catch leaping back but may have taken off from outside the rope as he makes no attempt to throw it back in. Baker still from the scoreboard end, four dots to Szwarczynski but the fifth is cut in front of point for one, and the last driven out to long off by Cooper for another to go to 35*.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   13:15
VOC : 77-4 (17 overs)
Complete silence now from the Hazelaarweg. Was it something I said?

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  13:12
HCC : 123-4 (31 overs)
Gorlee on 37 now and Overdijk on 23 as HCC work their way towards a challenging total.

 HBS vs Dosti-United  13:10
Dosti : 85 all out (21.2 overs)
HBS: 47-0 (4.2 overs)
HBS more than half way to their target, and an unhappy day for Dosti is compounded by a second lost ball.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   13:05
Sparta 96-8 (28.4 overs)
A fourth for McInerney in his final over, Hoornweg caught by Chris Knoll for 6. Usman Saleem in now.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  13:03
VRA : 115-2 (30 overs)
Cooper and Szwarczynski still ticking along nicely here at Thurlede. Bhatti returns from the far end and Baker switches ends. Szwarczynski on 56* now.

 HBS vs Dosti-United  12:57
Dosti : 85 all out (21.2 overs)
HBS: 35-0 (3 overs)
Tobias Visée seems keen to get it over with. And as proof, he smashes one into the Bosjes van Pex, delaying proceedings and speeding them up simultaneously. He has 33 of his side’s 35.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  12:51-
HCC : 91-4 (25 overs)
Things are interestingly poised at Westvliet, honours pretty much even at the halfway mark. Boris Gorlee is on 22 and Hidde Overdijk on 6, but they will need to bat on for another ten or fifteen overs to give their side a chance of a big finish.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  12:48
VRA : 101-2 (26 overs)
Szwarczynski cuts Ingram away hard behind point, and the fielder – Gijs Kroesen we think – gives chase . He makes the ground but looks get snagged on the slide, ball over the rope but more alarmingly he stays down for a good while. He’s back on his feet now though and looks to be walking it off . Szwarczynski brings up the hundred for VRA and his own half-century dabbing Baker down fine of third man for two in the next over.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   12:46
Sparta 85-7 (24 overs)
And another for Van Vliet, Umar caught and bowled for 4. Max Hoornweg joins Snoep, with Sparta now in real trouble. Not good trouble.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   12:42
Sparta 85-6 (23 overs)
While all that was going on there’s been a middle-order collapse at Het Loopveld, Mees van Vliet coming back to remove Mamoon Latif and McInerney also adding a third scalp by getting Manminder Singh caught behind. Danish Umar and Joost Martijn Snoep now at the crease.

 HBS vs Dosti-United  12:36
Dosti : 85 all out (21.2 overs)
Wessel Coster picks up a Michelle, and Dosti’s woes continue. Coster took five for 16 in 5.2 overs, with two apiece for Ferdi Vink and Julien de Mey. Dosti’s top scorer Touseef Ahmed, promoted to five and contributing 23, with only Ravichandran and Masood otherwise in double figures.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  12:33
VRA : 86-2 (22 overs)
And of a sudden, some stuff has happened. Cooper edges Baker high over the leaping Heinsbroek at slip, the puts the next up and over long on where it drops just inside the rope and rolls over for four. Ingram still at the other end, three off the 22nd.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  12:31-
HCC : 73-4 (19 overs)
Two more wickets at Westvliet, Damien Crowley leg-before to Stef Mulder, followed in rapid succession by Felix Vecchi, bowled by Bas de Leede.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  12:08
VRA : 73-2 (20 overs)
Spin at both ends now, Baker and Ingram in tandem but it’s been quiet since the break. Szwarcynski on 36* now, Cooper on 3*, a mishit reverse sweep from the former off Baker across the stumps the closest thing to excitment since drinks.

 HBS vs Dosti-United  12:26
Dosti : 71-9 (17 overs)
Dosti have subsided to 71-9, with two more wickets for Coster and another for De Merij. The end is nigh!.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   12:21
VOC : 77-4 (17 overs)
Apparently.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   12:18
VOC : 22-2 (4.2 overs)
You’re not going to believe this, but it appears that the information we have so far received from Hazelaarweg was some form of alternative facts. Back in the real world, Suleiman Tariq actually bowled Ayaz Durrani with the first ball of the game, and in his next over had Tim de Kok caught by a Hussain. Jelte Schoonheim and Pieter Seelaar rebuilding, if current information can be trusted. But in this post-truth world, who can tell?

Nice day for it Photo – Bertus de Jong

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  12:08
VRA : 60-2 (16.1 overs)
Ingram into the attack and immediate reward, Khan pinned on the crease and an enthusiastic appeal wins over the umpire, up goes the finger, Khan gone for 27, Cooper in at four, but first drinks.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   12:08
Sparta 73-4 (16.2 overs)
Another for McInerney at Het Loopveld, Balwantsingh bowled for 29.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  12:03
VRA : 54-1 (15 overs)
Both batsmen starting to find some semblance of fluency now, though Khan’s rather reluctant running has cost them a handful of runs that were there for the taking. He finds an elegant solution to the issue, however, by simply taking three boundaries off Van Troost in the 15th, the stand-out being a high and handsome six over midwicket that drops just inches over the rope.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  12:02-
HCC : 55-2 (12 overs)
Maybe it’s the pressure of playing against his old club, but immediately after conceding four overthrows Philippe Boissevain adds five wides to HCC’s tally. Umpire Campbell won’t have been impressed by that!

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   11:58
Sparta 58-3 (14 overs)
Bukhari goes for 22, trapped in front by Charles McInerney. But Balwantsingh is still there, joined now by Mamoon Latif.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  11:54
VRA : 35-1 (13 overs)
Another fine-looking shot from Khan pulls up short of the rope, just two runs for a handsome back-foot drive off Van Troost. Never looked interested in the third. No ball first up from Gijs Kroesen as he takes over from Etman, but the free hit goes nowhere. Another rare drop from Ingram later in the over, and a far easier chance too as Szwarcynski edges shoulder high through slip. Tidy from Van Troost in the next until Szwarcynski rocks back to cut the fifth ball through point for four.

 HBS vs Dosti-United  11:54
Dosti : 49-5 (12 overs)
Dosti’s collapse continues, and after totals of 55 and 50 in their first two outings, three figures look a very long way off. Wessel Coster picks up the fifth wicket.

 HBS vs Dosti-United  11:46
Dosti : 44-4 (10 overs)
Another one goes at Craeyenhout, but this one doesn’t involve Benno Boddendijk. Julien de Mey gets his man leg-before.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  11.42
HCC : 41-2 (8 overs)
Aha! It was Tonny Staal who went, caught at short extra cover. Damien Crowley in at three, but almost immediately Viv Kingma gets Voorburg’s second.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  11:39
VRA : 25-1 (10 overs)
Real chance there as Szwarczynski flashes at a wide one and a thick edge sails high over Ingram at gully, he leaps and palms it up but it comes down just out of reach. Szwarczynski connects with the next though, cutting Etman away square over the rope and into the sloot .

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  11.39
HCC : 40-1 (7 overs)
HCC lose their first wicket, although the identity of the victim is unknown. What we DO know Is that the successful pairing was a brace of emigrants from De Diepput, bowler Ali Ahmed Qasim, catcher Philippe Boissevain.

 HBS vs Dosti-United  11:35
Dosti : 23-3 (8 overs)
Boddendijk grabs a third, off Vink again, and Dosti’s troubles continue.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   11:32
Sparta 37-2 (7 overs)
Bukhari exacting a heavy toll on Van Vliet, and he’s now reached 21 off 18 deliveries, with three boundaries. Devanshu Arya operating from the other end, but the Sparta skipper’s partnership with Prithi Balwantsingh is restoring some order to proceedings.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  11:30
VRA : 18-1 (8 overs)
Another threatening over from Bhatti sees the ball pass Khan’s edge a few times, but he looks more comfortable against Etman. First ball of the tenth is put back over the bowler’s head, but not quite hard enough to obviate the need to run. Similar shot three balls later yields a similar result, to Khan apparent disappointment. Rens van Troost takes over from Bhatti.

 HBS vs Dosti-United  11:27
Dosti : 19-2 (? overs)
Another wicket at Craeyenhout and another catch for Boddendijk, this time off the bowling of Ferdi Vink.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  11.25
HCC : 22-0 (5 overs)
A steady start for Musa Ahmed and Tonny Staal at Westvliet.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  11:21
VRA : 13-1 (6 overs)
First shot with any conviction from Szwarczynski comes in the fifth over as he pulls Bhatti away square for four. Etman still parsimonious at the other end, just one off the sixth.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   11:20
VOC : 26-1 (2.4 overs)
A dramatic start of another kind at Hazelaarweg, where VOC’s new opening pair of Pieter Seelaar and Jelte Schoonheim start aggressively against Yasir Usman. But then Usman gets his revenge, Schoonheim being caught by Rehmat Zulfiqar for a 12-ball 20.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   11:15
Sparta 13-2 (3 overs)
An even worse start for Sparta, as 16-year-old Mees van Vliet removes Sawan Sardha and Faisal Iqbal with the first two deliveries of the match. Mudassar Bukhari gets things moving with two boundaries before the end of the over, but Sparta have some work to do.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  11:11
VRA : 7-1 (3 overs)
Just a single off Etman’s first over, stolen off a a thick inside edge from Khan, and then Bhatti finds the early wicket in the next, Singh back in his crease and bowled. Szwarczynski in at three and gets off the mark edging through the slips. VRA looking shaky.

 HBS vs Dosti-United  11:07
Dosti : 0-1 (0.2 overs)
An immediate breakthrough for HBS, as Benno Boddendijk takes a running catch of Sander Geenevasen’s second delivery. Not the start Dosti will have been hoping for!

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  11:03
VRA : 4-0 (1 over)
And we’re away. Vikram Singh and Zaman Khan opening the batting for VRA , Sohail Bhatti with the new ball. Bhatti beats Singh’s outside edge with the first ball, Singh blocks a few back before driving a wider ball away to the rope in front of point. Niels Etman from the other end.

 ACC vs Sparta 1888   10:54
Sparta ( overs)
ACC have won the toss at Het Loopveld, we gather, and have elected to field.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  10:43
And more team news, no Tommy Heggelman for the hosts today, Joost Kroesen steps up to skipper the side.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  10:42
Word from the middle here is that the hosts have won the toss and have invited VRA to bat first.

VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab CC   10:41
Punjab : ( overs)
Suleiman Tariq has won the toss at Hazelaarweg, but he’s decided to field first.

 Voorburg CC vs HCC  10:38
HCC : ( overs)
At Westvliet, HCC’s Tonny Staal has also called correctly and elected to bat.

 HBS vs Dosti-United  10:35
Dosti : ( overs)
HBS win the race to announce what’s happening. Vinoo Tewarie has apparently won the toss at Craeyenhout (that’s six lost tosses in a row for Tobias Visee, and Dosti will have a bat.

 Bertus de Jong  10:16
Good Morning all from a hazy but warm Thurlede, teams still warming up here but some news nonetheless, none other than Eric Szwarczynski has arrived in VRA colours, kit in tow, so get your last minute CricketXI fantasy adjustments in if that’s your thing. Bobby Hanif will also be back in action for VOC today we hear. In slightly less relevant news, Excelsior have a new coffee machine and the espresso is rather good.

Rod Lyall 10:10
Good morning/afternoon/evening once again to all our readers. The TKcricket team is positioned to bring you all the developments in today’s third round of Topklasse matches – or very soon will be. Bertus will be at Thurlede for the clash between Excelsior ’20 and VRA, and happy snapper Sander will be with him there to capture all the action. I’m doing my multimedia thing from my Sydney fastness, hoping to demonstrate that scorecard journalism isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Distressed as I am to be missing the Heggelmans’ legendary lunch, it’s some compensation that we’ve just had a magnificent sunset, reminiscent of a Turner (JMW rather than Glenn).
