The Topklasse table after Round 4

 Bertus de Jong  18:29
Well that’s a wrap from us, HCC and Punjab still undefeated at the top of the table after VRA’s remarkable implosion. VOC, Dosti and Excelsior still looking for their first win. Rod will be back with the review tomorrow, and of course Sander will have some snaps for us from Zomercomplex, which will presumably be an ugly sight for Dosti fans. We’ve another full round next weekend kicking off a bit early as Dosti-Excelsior has been moved to the Saturday, so join us a gain then, until then this is Bertus de Jong signing off from a sunny Loopveld.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 18:26
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 179 all out (47.4 overs)
De Leede wraps things up, finds the stumps again and Baker the last man to go. De Leede finishes with 3-21, Excelsior all out for 179.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 18:21
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 179-9 (47 overs)
Rens van Troost gone too for 42, caught off Ali Ahmed. Another solid score for him but his side aren’t any closer to their first win.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 18:14
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 175-8 (46 overs)
Heinsbroek goes, cleaned up by de Leede for a creditable 23 off 18, and with him any faint hope, you’d think. Jelte van Troost in, but he meets a similar fate in de Leede’s next. Won’t be long now you’d hope.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 17:56
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 151-6 (42 overs)
Excelsior’s extended net session is threatening to become a game meanwhile. Van Troost and Heinsbroek going at 8s the last few overs. They need 10s though. Ahmed into the attack.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 17:45
Sparta: 306-6 (50 overs)
HBS: 116 all out (?? overs)
HBS manage to avoid the humiliation of a 200 run defeat, but aside from Visée’s fireworks at the top the traffic’s been pretty much all one way. Bukhari’s got a few wickets to go with his 120*, but we’re not sure how many. Details to follow.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 17:42
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 123-6 (38 overs)
Etman and van Troost have brought the defecit down to double figures meanwhile, and getting some time in the middle. Etman had been the more positive of the two, his 20 coming at almost a run a ball, but he’sjust been caught off Dutt by Stephen Mulder. That’s four for Dutt now, Heinsbroek in.

 Bertus de Jong  17:34
With the good professor deservedly getting some shut eye, I’ll be taking it from here. Two games still going, if not exactly going concerns. Excelsior look set to bat out their 50 at least, while HBS seem to be doing the decent thing.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 17:26
HCC: 206-7 (45 overs)
VRA: 39 all out (15.5 overs)
Luuk Hartsink doesn’t appear, his injured hand not worth risking in the circumstances, so that’s it. VRA post their third-lowest total since 1971, and HCC complete the win which retains their 100% record.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  17:10
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 120-8 (49.3 overs)
Dot first up outside off, then clipped off the pads for a single square – no – two! A two that was never on but they take it anyway. Last is full and straight, driven back ankle high but de Kok can’t hold the catch. And that’s the game.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 17:22
HCC: 206-7 (45 overs)
VRA: 39-9 (15.5 overs)
The HCC bowlers are now operating to an umbrella field, and they collect another wicket piece as the denouement nears. Overdijk has five for 27, Bijloos three for 11.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  17:10
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 137-8 (49 overs)
Couple off the first to long off, Rutgers doesn’t feel their should have been a second. Back foot drive out to long on brings one more. Next is too short and pulled away in front of square for one more. And another to long off, inside edge into the pads and a shout but no joy,. And another single out through midwicket. Three for the win off the last. Napoleon facing, De Kok to bowl it.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 17:15
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 89-5 (31 overs)
The Excelsior innings is drifting rather purposelessly now, and Ingram is eventually out, caught by Mulder off Dutt for 10. Niels Etman joins Rens van Troost.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  17:10
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 131-8 (48 overs)
De Kok’s first ball yields a speculative LBW shout, but the next offers width and is cut away for a couple, one more off the next brings van Vliet onto strike, who finds a single to long on off a fuller quicker one. Ramesh looks for another to extra cover but it’s really not there, and he’s duly run out for 7. Napoleon in at 10. And a dot. Nine needed. Rutgers calls for the ball.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  17:10
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 127-7 (47 overs)
13 needed in three overs is the situation here, looks like Tim de Kok is handing off the gloves to Jain. Van Vliet in with Ramesh, who will indeed be facing De Kok.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 17:08
HCC: 206-7 (45 overs)
VRA: 31-7 (12.1 overs)
Lees the next to go, caught by Yash Patel off Overdijk, who now has four wickets. Unsurprisingly, no sign of a bowling change.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 17:06
Sparta: 306-6 (50 overs)
HBS: 95-6 (19 overs)
Another one gone at Craeyenhout, and a big win on the way for Sparta.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 17:03
HCC: 206-7 (45 overs)
VRA: 30-6 (11 overs)
As if things weren’t bad enough, a terrible misunderstanding leads to both batsmen at one end and the departure of Rasool, run out. Mitch Lees joins Khan. VRA’s lowest total of the limited-overs era, by the way, is 32 against Rood en Wit Haarlem in 1984.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  16:59
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 118-7 (44.2 overs)
Back after drinks and Bobby Hanif finds the wicket they wanted, but is it too late? Ramesh in at nine, 22 still to get. Could get interesting.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 16:57
HCC: 206-7 (45 overs)
VRA: 25-5 (10 overs)
Borren doesn’t last long either, making just 5 before he’s caught by Floyd off Bijloos. Rasool is still witness to this sorry procession, having made almost half the total, and now Zaman Khan is at the other end.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 16:51
Sparta: 306-6 (50 overs)
HBS: 82-5 (15 overs)
But we know no more than that.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 16:50
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 66-4 (25 overs)
Joost Kroesen goes first ball, LBW to a returning Viv Kingma, and Excelsior’s challenge is fading fast. Rens van Troost in now, with Ingram.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  16:45
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 109-6 (42 overs)
Four more for Kothari as he bisects long on and off, looks keen to get after Durrani. 30 to go and the hosts closing in on the finish line.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 16:45
HCC: 206-7 (45 overs)
VRA: 13-4 (8 overs)
And a third for Overdijk: Cooper trapped in front for 3. Peter Borren joins Rasool, with VRA teetering on the brink.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 16:43
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 64-3 (24 overs)
A wicket at Westvliet too: Verhagen had become becalmed on 26, and eventually falls to a catch by Boissevain off the bowling of Aryan Dutt. Lorenzo Ingram joins Stan van Troost, but four balls later Van Troost goes as well..

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 16:39
HCC: 206-7 (45 overs)
VRA: 9-3 (5.1 overs)
Bijloos gets into the act, taking a return catch to remove Dasgupta. Rasool’s watching all this from the other end, and now is joined by Ben Cooper.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  16:35
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 100-6 (39 overs)
Van Vliet finally off the mark after 28 balls pushing Jain out to midwicket for a single, Kothari on 19 at the other end as Schoonheim continues, and dropped! that could be decisive as Kothari flicks one up over midwicket where it bursts through Rutgers’s hands. Hundred up next ball and VOC only have 40 runs left to play with.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 16:29
HCC: 206-7 (45 overs)
VRA: 8-2 (3 overs)
And that’s a big over from Overdijk, getting Singh caught behind by Lagas and then having Marcus Andrew caught by Staal for 2 three balls later.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  16:25
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 89-6 (35 overs)
Kothari with the first boundary since, oh I don’t know when, driving Shah beautifully through the covers , the cloying outfield unable to arrest the ball’s progress to the rope. Valuable runs at this stage with ACC under pressure. Jain with another maiden at the Amstel end, but runs keep coming off Kothari’s bat – second ball of the 35th is sent over the long on rope into the wind. VOC don’t have the runs to let him bat for long.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 16:25
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 56-1 (19 overs)
Verhagen and Van Troost making steady progress at Westvliet, the former doing most of the scoring and moving on to 26. Stef Mulder into the attack now.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 16:20
HCC: 206-7 (45 overs)
VRA: 5-0 (1 over)
They’re back at De Diepput, Hidde Overdijk opening Vikram Singh and Shirase Rasool – a leg-bye , and then Rasool hits his final delivery to the boundary. Reinier Bijloos from the other end.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  16:09
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 68-6 (30 overs)
And another! Jain this time has Zaidi playing forward, through him and into the woodwork. Van Vliet in, men around the bat and plenty of chat. VOC look to have this game by the scruff of the neck of a sudden.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  16:05
VOC: 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC: 68-5 (29 overs)
Schoonheim has another as ACC stumble toward the half-way mark, Potdar plays all around a half volley and has his stumps disarranged. Kothari in at seven and VOC well in this \game now.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 16:05
Sparta: 306-6 (50 overs)
HBS: 54-3 (5.2 overs)
Visée brings up his fifty, but then is stumped immediately afterwards. Maybe not game, set and match, but certainly advantage Sparta.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 16:02
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 42-1 (13.3 overs)
And it’s Boissevain who gets it, bowling Kroesen for 9. Stan van Troost given the responsibility of batting at three.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 15:59
Sparta: 306-6 (50 overs)
HBS: 50-2 (4.1 overs)
Tobias Visée has his own ideas about this game ought to go, picking up where he left off last week and racing to 46 not out. Bukhari strikes back, however, removing Mason. Navjit Singh in at four.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 15:56
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 39-0 (12 overs)
Run start to flow at Westvliet, Verhagen, having finally got off the mark, taking a liking to Qasim and hitting him for two fours and a six in a single over. De Leede and Boissevain on now, as Voorburg look for the breakthrough.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 15:46
HCC: 206-7 (45 overs)
A very valuable partnership between Floyd and Patel comes to an end when Singh has the latter caught by Jain for 27. Floyd remains not out on 24, their stand having added 49. Another interesting chase in store!

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  15:42
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 52-4 (22.3 overs)
Hanif brings up the fifty for the hosts by spearing the first ball of his second over down leg for anpother wide, but picks up another, fullish outside off and finds McInerney’s outside edge and de Kok takes a good catch diving low to his right. Zaidi in, but first drinks.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 15:42
Sparta: 306-6 (50 overs)
HBS: 2-1 (0.3 overs)
Bukhari seems determined to win this game single-handed, getting Wesel Coster caught behind off the third ball of HBS’s reply.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  15:35
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 46-3 (21 overs)
Van Wingerden bowls out to finish with a commendable 1-16 from his ten. Hanif back at the other end, and gets himself Raza’s wicket thanks to the least enthusiastic appeal I’ve heard in a while, Rutgers (we think) at midwicket casually asking “err, but how is that though? ” McInerney in. Jain takes over at the Amstel end.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 15:29
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 7-0 (5 overs)
If it’s attrition you’re looking for you could wander along to Westvliet, where Luuk Kroesen and Verhagen are battling to survive against Kingma and Qasim. Only three runs off the bat so far (all to Kroesen), but they’re holding their own against a pretty menacing attack.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  15:23
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 40-2 (18 overs)
Attritional stuff here as Potdar and Raza dig in. Van Wingerden still unchanged from the Amstel end, He’s bowled 9 on the trot now for a wicket and just 14 runs. Schoonheim still with the wind.

Punjab Rotterdam vs Dosti 15:22
Dosti: 117 all out (25.4 overs)
Punjab: 120-4 (25 overs)
It’s all over at the Zomercomplex. Saqib Zulfiqar (31 not out) and Teja Nidamanuru (30 not out) finishing the job in a hurry.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 15:18
HCC: 150-6 (39.5 overs)
Borren traps Hennop in front for 12. Clayton Floyd is joined by Yash Patel.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 15:15
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 5-0 (2 overs)

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 15:05
HCC: 138-4 (36 overs)
Debrub Dasgupta gets the wicket VRA really needed, Crowley caught by Singh for 62.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  15:03
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 23-2 (11 overs)
The hosts lose another here as Hosur nicks behind off Schoonheim, Potdar in and a semi-convincing LBW shout two balls later. Raza still scoreless at the other end having seen 13 balls. VOC aren’t rolling over here. Van Wingerden still at the Amstel end, into the wind.

Punjab Rotterdam vs Dosti 14:58
Dosti: 117 all out (25.4 overs)
Punjab: 100-4 (22 overs)
18 needed now, as Punjab have a mind to their net run rate.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 14:55
Sparta: 306-6 (50 overs)
Which they duly achieve, thanks to Bukhari’s unbeaten 120 and Hoornweg’s useful 29.

  🌬️ Weather Update 🌬️   14:53
Can’t say much about the rest of the country, but there’s a howling wind blowing across the ground now at het Loopveld, from the City end to the Amstel end.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 14:51
HCC: 120-4 (32 overs)
The Lees-Abid combination strikes again, Overdijk gone for 30. Dietmar Hennop joins Crowley, who soon afterwards brings up his half-century. Things are nicely poised at De Diepput.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  14:47
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 14-1 (6 overs)
First wicket down here as Mulready drives van Wingerden into the hands of mid off. Raza at three.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 14:45
Sparta: 282-6 (48 overs)
300 in Sparta’s sights now, as Bukhari moves on to 111. He’s well supported by Max Hoornweg, who’s on 20.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  14:41
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 13-0 (5 overs)
ACC’s openers happy to wait on the next bad ball it seems, and Mulready duly punishes Hanif again as he strays from his line, dismissing him to the rope in front of point again. No real sense of urgency yet, not that the scoreboard demands it.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 14:36
Sparta: 252-6 (45 overs)
And so it proves, with Bukhari racing to 96.

<

Punjab Rotterdam vs Dosti 14:33
Dosti: 117 all out (25.4 overs)
Punjab: 82-4 (19 overs)
They’re taking a drink at the Zomercomplex, with Punjab needing 36 runs for victory.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  14:31
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
ACC : 4-0 (1 over)
And a timely restart here, Mulready and Hosur to the middle for the hosts, Hanif with the new ball for VOC. Real gimme on the fifth ball as Hanif sits one up outside off and Mulready cuts it away to the rope in front of point. Van Wingerden from the other end.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 14:30
Sparta: 225-6 (42.3 overs)
HBS get the breakthrough they so badly needed, as Singh is caught by Reece Mason off Julian de Mey’s bowling for 48. But Bukhari’s still there, and there are enough overs left for a big finish.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 14:27
VCC: 221-8 (50 overs)
Kingma and Nota pick up some useful runs in the final overs and Voorburg set a very young Excelsior side a fairly challenging target.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 14:23
HCC: 86-3 (23 overs)
Crowley and Overdijk continue to prosper at De Diepput; Prasuk Jain join Luuk Hartsink in the attack now.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 14:18
VCC: 208-8 (47.5 overs)
Niels Etman returns to dismiss Razzaqi, and then Gijs Kroesen accounts for De Lange for 18. Viv Kingma and Tobias Nota at the crease with just a couple of overs left.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 14:13
Sparta: 193-5 (39 overs)
A very valuable stand this for Sparta: Bukhari 65, Manminder Singh 33. The partnership’s worth 60-plus, and HBS will have a significant chase on their hands.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 14:07
VCC: 196-6 (46 overs)
Qasim is Van Troost’s third victim; the Excelsior seamer finishes with three for 37. Alyan Razzaqi in now, batting with De Lange.

Punjab Rotterdam vs Dosti 14:03
Dosti: 117 all out (25.4 overs)
Punjab: 50-2 (10 overs)
The home side look set to cruise to a comfortable win here.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 13:56
HCC: 59-3 (16 overs)
Another victim for Lees as Gorlee, on 9, edges a Vikram Singh delivery through to the keeper. Hidde Overdijk joins Crowley, who’s on 26.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 13:52
Sparta: 183-5 (37 overs)
Bukhari now on 62, Manminder Singh on 27. HBS are in serious need of a wicket here!

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  13:51
VOC : 139 all out (48.3 overs)
Well they won’t manage even that as it turns out, Shah well caught by Kothari running back from mid off off the bowling of Napoleon. Quite the fightback from the hosts as VOC’s last 7 wickets add just 25 runs. ACC will need 140 after lunch and very much the happier of the two sides.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 13:50
VCC: 178-5 (41 overs)
Another for Van Troost: De Leede caught behind for a solid 128-ball 68. Ali Ahmed Qasim joins De Lange in the middle.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  13:48
VOC : 139-9 (48 overs)
Napoleon back with a maiden, Shah uppercuts van Vliet over the slips for three in the next for the first runs off the bat in some 4 overs, and still the only ones. Another maiden for Napoleon and van Vliet’s next yields only a single wide. VOC may bat their overs here but at this rate it won’t make much difference.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 13:39
VCC: 173-4 (38.2 overs)
Boissevain goes for 13, trapped in front by Rens van Troost. De Leede’s still there, on 65, and Floris de Lange joins him at the crease.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  13:32
VOC : 135-9 (44 overs)
THe procession continues, Hanif edging behind off van Vliet and last man Shah comes in.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 13:32
Sparta: 167-5 (31 overs)
Mudassar Bukhari and Manminder Singh are rebuilding the Sparta innings; they’re currently on 54 and 22 respectively.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 13:25
HCC: 19-1 (4.2 overs)
And a second for Abid as Staal is caught behind by Lees for 1 in the same over. Crowley and Boris Gorlee have some work to do!

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  13:22
VOC : 130-8 (40.1 overs)
And another, Forget slashing at a wide one from Zaidi, and Hosur clings on to a good low catch diving to his right at gully. Hanif at ten and VOC in free-fall.

Punjab Rotterdam vs Dosti 13:22
Dosti: 117 all out (25.4 overs)
Dosti slump from 84 for one to 117 all out, losing their last nine wickets for 33 runs. Sikander Zulfiqar finishes with five for 34 and Suleiman Tariq four for 30.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  13:20
VOC : 130-7 (39.1 overs)
ANother down here, Hussain prodding forward at Kothari and loops up off the bat for the simplest of return catches. Brief break for drinks as van Wingerden makes his way to the middle to join Forget.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 13:18
HCC: 19-1 (4.2 overs)
Trijzelaar goes, caught at mid-off by Ben Cooper off Abid for 14. Damien Crowley joins Staal.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 13:14
VCC: 146-3 (33.1 overs)
And it’s Umar Baker who gets it, Dutt stumped by Roel Verhagen for 64. Bas de Leede has meantime gone on to 55, and he’s joined by Philippe Boissevain.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 13:11
HCC: 4-0 (3 overs)
Under way at last at De Diepput, with A Abid and Peter Borren bowling to Daniel Trijzelaar and Tonny Staal. Quiet start so far.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  13:05
VOC : 125-6 (35 overs)
Schoonheim doesn’t last long though, cleaned up by Zaidi on the last ball of the 33rd. Forget at seven, a lot resting on Jain now. Or rather it was. He’s caught behind for 42 in Zaidi’s next. Having set a fine platform, VOC look to be swan-diving off it.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 13:02
Sparta: 125-5 (21 overs)
We may have missed something, but it now appears that an LBW decision in favour of Reece Mason has produced a fifth wicket for HBS.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  12:54
VOC : 117-4 (32 overs)
Much-needed breakthrough for the hosts as Rutgers goes after a wide one only to cut Zaidi into the hands of Hosur at backward point on the final ball of the 31st. Schoonheim in and should have been a wicket next ball as Jain spoons Kothari to cover but it’s shelled. Could be a costly drop that. Jain continues to live dangerously, padding up to the next and then nearly run out on the fourth ball. He earns himself a mention on the short scores though clipping the fifth ball square to go to 35*.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 12:53
VCC: 119-2 (28 overs)
A half-century for Aryan Dutt, and the hundred partnership comes up at the same time. He’s now on 52, with De Leede on 41. His 50 came off 65 balls, with five boundaries. Ingram’s back into the attack, but none of the six bowlers used so far has been able to secure another breakthrough.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  12:42
VOC: 103-3 (29 overs)
Hundred up for VOC in the meantime, Rutgers also finding some fluency as he risks the occasional sweep. Outfield still denying the batsmen real value for their shots, but this is a turning into a more-than-useful partnership for the visitors.

<

Punjab Rotterdam vs Dosti 12:43
Dosti: 100-6 (20 overs)
Normal service appears to have been resumed at the Zomercomplex, as Punjab start to run through the Dosti batting.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 12:39
Sparta: 96-3 (?? overs)
A wicket for Adil Ahmed.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 12:36
HCC:
And we’re good to go. The match will start at 13:00, and has been reduced to 45 overs. Peter Borren has called incorrectly, and HCC have elected to bat.

<

Punjab Rotterdam vs Dosti 12:31
Dosti: 84-2 (16 overs)
Our trusty reporter at the Zomercomplex tells us that Dosti’s good start is due in large part to skipper Vinoo Tewarie, who has just been caught at midwicket after making a brisk 45.

Rod Lyall 12:29
We’ve also had it drawn to our attention that another debutant today is 15-year-old Martijn Scholte, son of former Dutch international wicketkeeper-batsman Reinout Scholte. He’s in the HBS side taking on Sparta 1888 at Craeyenhout. The verjonging of the Topklasse continues apace!

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  12:29
VOC : 84-3 (24 overs)
Short from McInerney and sits up for Jain, who looks to afford your humble correspondent some much-needed catching practice, but he’s hit it far too well and it’s over the square boundary and our heads and onto the clubhouse roof. He’s into the 20s now. Kothari into the attack from the other end.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  12:22
VOC : 74-3 (22 overs)
McInerney’s rather lost his rhythm post-drinks. No ball first up and then three wides in the over. Nine off it, Raza from the other end. Rutgers finally off the mark with a leg glance for two, has to dive to make it back though after stumbling setting off.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 12:19
VCC: 72-2 (19 overs)
Steady progress at Westvliet, where De Leede (26) and Dutt (28) have brought up the fifty partnership. Rens van Troost and Gijs Kroesen currently operating with the ball.

Punjab Rotterdam vs Dosti 12:16
Dosti: 51-1 (10 overs)
News is sparse from the Zomercomplex, but that’s a pretty dramatic – and much needed – turnaround from Dosti, who have really struggled with the bat so far.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  12:12
VOC : 60-3 (20 overs)
20 overs in before drinks, commendable over rates here at least. Jain on 8*, Rutgers yet to get off the mark. McInerney to continue after the break.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 12:10
We’re informed that there will be an inspection at 12:30 at De Diepput.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  12:04
VOC : 55-3 (18 overs)
De Kok was just starting to warm to his task when Arya produces a well-timed wicket. De Kok on the slog-sweep, doesn’t connect and struck in front. He goes for 22 off 34, Rutgers in at five. McInerney into the attack.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 12:03
Sparta: 44-2 (7 overs)
It’s Sunday, so it follows that Boddendijk has taken another catch, this time off Navjit Singh. Sparta making decent progress though.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  11:47
VOC : 37-2 (14 overs)
And Arya strikes, Durrani pushing forward but not getting to the pitch and it’s past his edge into the top of off. Big shout on the next ball too as Arnav Jain gets his pad in the way of a straighter one, but no straight enough for the umpire. Napoleon to continue.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 11:45
VCC: 38-2 (12 overs)
De Leede and Dutt putting Voorburg back on track, but the big news from Westvliet is that with 14-year-old Jelte van Troost making his debut alongside brothers Rens and Stan and Joost, Gijs and Luuk Kroesen also in the eleven, more than half the Excelsior team come from two families.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  11:40
VOC : 31-1 (12 overs)
Closest thing to a boundary we’ve seen yet as de Kok drives Napoleon straight, but well chased down with a little help from the outfield, de Kok wants three but won’t get them as Durrani sends him back almost the length of the pitch. Arya finds de Kok’s edge next over with a little extra bounce and turn but it drops safe at vacant slip. Little else of note.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 11:38
Sparta: 4-1 (? overs)
We have been here before. Benno Boddendijk combines with Ferdi Vink, and the first Sparta wicket falls.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  11:32
VOC : 23-1 (9 overs)
And apologies to Malik for that classic commentator’s curse, first ball of Napoleon’s next over shoots through low and he’s pinned in front. Tim de Kok in at three and blocks out the rest of the over. Wicket maiden.

HCC vs VRA Amsterdam 11:30
We may be in for a longish delay at De Diepput, where the overnight rain has evidently taken its toll. A leaf blower is being deployed on the mat (I shall spare you the Portland jokes).

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  11:22

VOC : 23-0 (7 overs)
Alangara Napoleon replaces Van Vliet, a quiet first over from him, just one from it. Young Rohan Malik into double figures and looking solid, Arya takes over at the other end.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 11:22
VCC: 13-2 (5.4 overs)
Another wicket for Excelsior and another for Ingram, as he also bowls Pieterse for 5. Aryan Dutt in to join skipper Bas de Leede.

Sparta 1888 vs HBS 11:18
Sparta:
At CRAEYENHOUT, Sparta have won the toss and elected to bat.

Voorburg CC vs Excelsior 11:09
VCC: 4-1 (1.3 overs)
An early wicket at Westvliet: after a maiden from Niels Etman to Righardt Pieterse, Tom de Grooth hits Lorenzo Ingram’s second delivery to the boundary, but is bowled by the next.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam  11:05
VOC : 8-0 (2 overs)
Mees van Vliet shares the with Ammar Zaidi new ball for ACC, Ayaz Durrani and Rohan Malik open for the visitors. Looks to be doing a bit, van Vliet beats Durrani’s edge a couple of times first up and Zaidi draws an edge wide of the slips from Malik, but the latter hits back next ball with a handsome drive for the covers for what would surely have been four but for the traditionally sluggish outfield.

 Punjab Rotterdam vs Dosti  11:00
Dosti : ( overs)
A slight delay at the Zomercomplex too, where we expect a start at 11:15. Dosti have won the toss and elected to bat.

 Sparta 1888 vs HBS  10:49
There’s a delay at Craeyenhout as well, where the umpires will have a look at 11:00.

  ☀ Weather Update ☀   10:42
Sunny and warm for now here at het Loopveld, but dark clouds about and the forecast is somewhat unsettled. We’re expecting to start on time here despite last night’s deluge, but we’ll be lucky to have all five matches on the go by eleven given the amount of water that came down across the country last night.

 Voorburg CC vs Excelsior  10:40
VCC : ( overs)
At Westvliet Bas de Leede has won the toss and elected to bat first.

 HCC vs VRA Amsterdam  10:37
But the news isn’t so good from De Diepput, where the toss has been delayed. There will be an inspection at 10:55.

 ACC vs VOC Rotterdam   10:36

And good morning all from het Loopveld, Raza has won the toss for the hosts here and elected to field. Corey Rutgers stand-in skipper for VOC today, deputising for the incapacitated Pieter Seelaar.

Rod Lyall 10:10
Well, here we are again, ready to go, but very much in the hands of the ground staff and umpires if the Buienradar is anything to go by. If it’s any consolation, it’s been raining all day in Sydney as well. Bertus de Jong will be at Het Loopveld today to bring us all the news from the meeting between ACC and VOC, and Sander Tholen’s at the ironically-named Zomercomplex (make up your own jokes here) to snap the action from the game between Punjab and Dosti. And I shall endeavour to keep you posted with what’s happening elsewhere. The first question, of course, is whether the various tosses will take place on time, and we’ll let you know what we know as soon as we know it.
