The Topklasse table after Round 5
Rod Lyall 18:15
So the top four all won today, and VOC and Dosti remain without a win, although for the second week in a row VOC made a fight of it. Stars of the day are Stef Myburgh with the bat and Philippe Boissevain with the ball. The heroes of the week, however, are Sparta’s final pair, Nasratullah Ibrahimkil and Usman Saleem, who added 42 to see their side to an improbable win over Voorburg. We hope you’ve enjoyed the weekend’s coverage, and this is Rod Lyall saying goodbye for now on behalf of the Tkcricket team.
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 18:09
Voorburg: 190-8 (50 overs)
Sparta: 192-9 (47.? overs)
And win it they do! It all seemed to be over when the ninth wicket fell with 41 still needed, but Voorburg were unable to claim that final wicket. That was extraordinary!
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 18:06
Voorburg: 190-8 (50 overs)
Sparta: 188-9 (47 overs)
Three needed off 18 deliveries! Sparta look like pulling off a remarkable victory!
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 18:02
Voorburg: 190-8 (50 overs)
Sparta: 177-9 (45 overs)
Which End, however, is yet uncertain, as Sparta’s final pair are taking it down to the wire!
Punjab CC vs ACC 17:41
ACC: 209 all out (47.4 overs)
Punjab: 212-2 (27.3 overs)
Confirmation at last from the Zomercomplex of a thumping eight-wicket victory for leaders Punjab, for whom Stef Myburgh cracked an unbeaten 127.
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 17:38
Voorburg: 190-8 (50 overs)
Sparta: 150-9 (38 overs)
Another LBW for Boissevain, and the End is Nigh.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 17:26
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 160-10 (44 overs)
Just like that it’s all over. A defiant innings of 44* by Rutgers who signs off with a shrug and a sigh to the press of “Beers, early beers,”. Hanif goes bowled by Dasgupta who claims his second to finish it off. All in all, a wonderful day in de Bos.
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 17:22
Voorburg: 190-8 (50 overs)
Sparta: 142-8 (34 overs)
And I make that a Michelle for Boissevain.
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 17:20
Voorburg: 190-8 (50 overs)
Sparta: 138-7 (34 overs)
A catch for Kingma off Boissevain. Sparta have plenty of overs, but it’s the wickets that are killing them.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 17:17
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 150-9 (42 overs)
Raja gets another and it looks like VOC are staring at the inevitable here. Van Wingerden is replaced in the middle by Bobby Hanif the number 11.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 17:03
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 141-8 (38 overs)
Raja gets the breakthrough but not the one VRA were after, Ruyters gone for 7 but danger man Rutgers is still at the crease on 35 having dislocated his finger earlier today. Cooper bowling in tandem.
Punjab CC vs ACC 16:58
ACC: 209 all out (47.4 overs)
Punjab: 89-1 (13 overs)
We’re told that Punjab have won and that Myburgh has posted another century, but this is unconfirmed and we have no other details. Frustrating doesn’t begin to describe it.
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 16:54
Voorburg: 190-8 (50 overs)
Sparta: 121-6 (26 overs)
Another LBW for Boissevain, and the wheels appear to be detaching themselves from the Sparta vehicle.
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 16:41
Voorburg: 190-8 (50 overs)
Sparta: 108-5 (25 overs)
And three: another for Boissevain, LBW this time, and the game seems to be swinging Voorburg’s way.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 16:43
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 126-7 (33 overs)
Resilience for VOC as Rutgers winds his way to 27, Ruyters still with him on 3. Gunning´s 2nd spell slightly more expensive than his first. Hartsink still going strong from the other end.

Voorburg: 190-8 (50 overs)
Sparta: 106-4 (?? overs)
One brings two: Bukhari follows, stumped by Van der Giessen off Boissevain. That’s a huge change in the balance of the game!
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 16:35

Sparta: 97-3 (22 Overs)
But that’s a big wicket, as Lenert van Wyk departs, caught by Pieterse off Dutt.
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 16:26
Voorburg: 190-8 (50 overs)
Sparta: 82-2 (20 Overs)
The answer, trusty snapper S Tholen informs us, is Van Wyk and Bukhari, and as long as that’s the case you have to make Sparta the favourites from here.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 16:25
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 99-7 (26 overs)
Upadhyaya departs LBW for 14 off the bowling of Raja who bags his second. Ruyters joins Rutgers in the middle.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 16:17
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)

HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout 16:13
HBS : 127 all out (45.4 overs)
HCC: 128-3 (25.5 overs)

VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 80-5 (20 overs)
Wickets galore for VRA, de Kok goes for 38, LBW to Dasgupta. VRA´s youngsters showing their prowess. Tricky for VOC from here, but new batsman Schoonheim will be hoping to have something to say about that.
HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout 15:59
HBS : 127 all out (45.4 overs)
HCC: 105-3 (23 overs)
Patel moves on to 27 and Vecchi 16, and HCC appear to have two points in the bag.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 15:55
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 75-4 (17.6 overs)
Make that; Single, dot , dot, wicket, dot, wicket! 2 in 3 balls for the boys in blue as Ahsan Malik goes without scoring. Dasgupta into the attack replacing Singh. New man at the crease is Ramdas Upadhyaya.
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 15:53
Voorburg: 190-8 (50 overs)
Sparta: 46-2 (10 Overs)
Sparta making reasonable progress, despite a wicket for Viv Kingma. A lot depends, of course, on who’s out, and that we unfortunately know not.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 15:47
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 75-3 (17.4 overs)

VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 15:47
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)

VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 15:32
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 52-2 (12.1 overs)

VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 15:17
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 41-1 (11 overs)
Skipper Singh takes matters into his own hands and replaces Gunning at the other end. Back of a length balls into the wicket seems to be the order he gave himself, Durrani playing him out cautiously for a maiden.

A wicket for Ali Ahmed Qasim. The rest is silence.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 15:10
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 40-1 (9 overs)
Boundaries or nothing at the moment for VOC, with a couple of tasty shots pinging off the bat of de Kok. VRA decide Abid should have a spell and bring on Raja who has a close LBW shout first ball.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 14:58
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)
VOC : 21-1 (6 overs)
Speak of the devil. Abid gets his line right, traps Malik infront, Campbell raises the finger and he´s gone for 4. VRA has their first.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 14:53
VRA : 186 all out (42.3 overs)

Voorburg 190-8 (50 overs)
Ali Ahmed Qasim is on 20 not out at the end.
Rod Lyall 14:24
At 17 years 206 days, it’s a fair bet Vikram Singh, captaining VRA today, is the youngest skipper in the history of the Dutch top flight competition.
HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout 14:19
HBS : 127 all out (45.4 overs)
At De Diepput Clayton Floyd, Reinier Bijloos, Jan Wieger Overdijk and Damian Crowley had two wickets each. Ferdi Vink’s 43 the top score for HBS, with a creditable 22 from Martijn Scholte.

Napoleon bowled by Saqib Zulfiqar for 18. Saqib finishes with two for 37.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 13:43
VRA 181-8 (42 overs)
Lees departs for 40, driving Upadhyaya to extra cover, where Tim de Kok, who has relinquished the glovess, takes a fine catch above his head. Gunning in, and Gunning out as Upadhyaya holds a low return catch two balls later. Raja joins Singh and then deserts him immediately, plumb LBW first ball. Three in four balls and Upadhyaya will be on a hattrick next over if the game lasts that long, with Luuk Hartsink still unable to bat, Abid will be last man. Ahsan Malik returns.
Punjab CC vs ACC 13:44

VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 12:49

Luten’s cameo comes to an end on the first ball of the 28th, sent back by Singh to certain doom, some debate on the balcony whether there was a single there. He made an attractive 17, Singh still there on 39*, Lake joins him now and blocks out the over.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 12:45
VRA 108-3 (27 overs)
Luten gives the home fans something to cheer for with a cracking drive through extra cover for four off Schoonheim to bring up the hundred from VRA, then cuts van Wingerden away fine for a couple more in the next.

VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 12:10
VRA 68-3 (17 overs)
Luten and Singh rebuilding for VRA, and a double bowling change we think, but the scorers are at a loss to know who’s come on at the Mulders end, we reckon it’s Upadhyaya from the city end though. Bit wayward from him, two wides in a row, the second eluding de Kok and running almost to the rope to a couple more. Two balls later and another down leg. 68 the score, Singh on 23* and Luten on 4*. Van Wingerden now takes over from whoever that was.
Punjab CC vs ACC 12:09

Apparently ACC are batting at the Zomercomplex. Potdar and Raza currently at the crease.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 11:54
VRA 50-3 (13 overs)
Malik bags another, and a big wicket too. Cooper on the front foot and reaching, feather edge and de Kok makes no mistake. Luten in, off the mark on the final ball with a thick outside edge wide of the slips for two. Hanif to continue.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 11:44
VRA 50-2 (12 overs)
Another down here as Dasgupta spoons Hanif up high and straight, Durrani takes it safely backpedaling from mid on. Cooper in at four.

Another at De Diepput: Boddendijk gone. Adil Ahmed joins Navjit Singh at the crease.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 11:41
VRA 46-1 (10 overs)
Bobby Hanif into the attack now, a bit leaky, a wide a leg bye a two and a couple of singles keeps the scoreboard ticking. Malik still at the other end, tidy from him with just a wide first up adding to the total. Comedy overthrows on the last ball spoil Hanif’s next over, five from it all told . In other news Ladies and Gentlemen, Thijs Luten is here today in VRA blues, Matt Lake sat next to him similarly attired.

HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout 11:35
HBS : 16-1 (6 overs)
Wessel Coster and Benno Boddendijk are rebuilding for HBS, facing Bijloos and spinner Clayton Floyd
Punjab CC vs ACC 11:30
We’d love to tell you what’s happening at the Zomercomplex, but unfortunately the match seems to be taking place in secret. Even my binoculars aren’t that good!
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 11:26
VRA 34-1 (7 overs)
Malik brings the promising partnership to an end for 32 on the second shout, huge appeal for LBW on the first ball of the 7th, primes the pump, and when he’s struck on the pad again in the second the finger shoots up. Dasgupta in at three.
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 11:25
Voorburg 9-0 (5 overs)
Pieterse and De Grooth open for Voorburg. That’s all she wrote.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 11:10
VRA 14-0 (3 overs)
Ahsan Malik is back for VOC and opens the bowling today, with a maiden to Singh, who’s opening with Shirase Rasool. Van Wingerden shares the new ball, and Rasool takes the first boundary of the innings sweeping powerfully behind square. Singh gets in on the action next over taking putting Malik across the rope twice in the over. A lively start from this pair.
HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout 11:10
HBS : 5-1 (1.1 overs)
Reinier Bijloos gets the wicket HCC will have most wanted: Tobias Visée caught by Daniel Trijzelaar off the left-armer’s opening delivery.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 11:04
VRA : 0-0 (1 over)
In the Amsterdamse Bos VRA have won the toss and batted. The returning Ahsan Malik opens from the City End to Vikram Singh, bowling a tidy maiden which gets a couple past the outside edge. Young Siebe van Wingerden to Shirase Rasool from Mulder’s End.
HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout 10:42
HBS : ( overs)
And the news from De Diepput is that Tobias Visée has called correctly and elected to bat.
Sparta 1888 vs Voorburg 10:39
Voorburg ( overs)
Sparta have won the toss at the Bermweg and have elected to field.
VRA vs VOC Rotterdam 10:35
News from the Bos is that Vikram Singh will be the happier of the two substitute captains, having won the toss and elected to bat. Peter Borren won’t be playing for the hosts, having split the webbing on his hand taking a catch in Friday’s T20 against ACC, and with VOC’s Pieter Seelaar still out with back trouble. It seems both the big dogs will be sidelined for this fight. Bondscoach Ryan Campbell will be taking up umpiring duties again though, standing with Deepraj Das today.
Rod Lyall 10:10
Good Morning (or afternoon, or evening) once again, and welcome to our coverage of this Sunday’s Topklasse fixtures. Just four games today, Excelsior ’20 having stolen a march on the rest by Kroesing to victory over Dosti yesterday, with all three Kroesen brothers and Lorenzo Ingram making significant contributions. So we’re up 1-nil already in the tipping stakes. Bertus will be at VRA today, and Sander and his camera will be at the Bermweg, while I’ll be mopping up the rest of the news from Sydney. Fortunately, I have very good binoculars.
Bertus de Jong 17:46
Hoseinbaks indeed unavailable to bat, having been subbed off in the first innings. So Excelsior have their first points, though given the meek opposition (Masood excepted) it would be tough to say it marks a comeback exactly. We’ll be back tomorrow for the rest of the round, do join us then.
Dosti vs Excelsior 17:43
Excelsior : 296-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 116-9 (36.4 overs)
Thurlede has gone radio silent, and apparently Excelsior have claimed the victory. Seems that Asief Hoseinbaks didn’t come out to bat.
Dosti vs Excelsior 17:33
Excelsior : 296-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 116-9 (36.4 overs)
Mahsood goes for 56, caught behind off Joost Kroesen to become Verhagen’s fourth victim, and that cues the collapse. Hopseinbaks, Ahmad and Perumal all gone for single figure scores and Dosti down to their last pair, still one short of their best score for the season.
Dosti vs Excelsior 17:10
Excelsior : 296-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 108-6 (30 overs)
Mahsood throwing caution to the wind here, brings up his half century and the 100 for Dosti as he takes three boundaries off Heinsbroek in the 30th.
Dosti vs Excelsior 16:50
Excelsior : 296-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 89-6 (27 overs)
Mahsood still playing a defiant knock, hits Baker for six for the third time on the first ball of the 27th, but Baker’s robbed him of two more partners – Dahuti and Ahmad cleaned bowled in successive overs. Hoseinbaks in.
Dosti vs Excelsior 16:30
Excelsior : 296-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 59-4 (19 overs)
Spin now with Baker into the attack. Masood hits him for consecutive fours in his first over, then for six on the first ball of his next. Still some fight in this Dosti side at least, even if their position is all but hopeless again.
Dosti vs Excelsior 16:16
Excelsior : 296-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 42-4 (16 overs)
Kroesen has another and another catch behind the stumps for Verhagen, Raji goes for 5. Masood in.
Dosti vs Excelsior 15:57
Excelsior : 296-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 37-3 (12 overs)
Double bowling change with Rens van Troost and Gijs Kroesen introduced, and the latter finds quick reward, nicking off the Dosti skipper for 17. Dhadutiin. Van Troost follows up with a maiden to Raji and Dosti are on the ropes again.
Dosti vs Excelsior 15:42
Excelsior : 296-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 29-2 (8 overs)
Hans goes, caught off Etman for 10, and Heggelman strikes next over to have Ravichandran caught behind for a golden duck. Raji in to join Tewarie, who’s on 16*.
