The Topklasse table after Round 6
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 18:45
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
Punjab: 256-9 (50 overs)
It is.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 18:42
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
Punjab: 252-9 (49 overs)
Kingma gives up just two. Surely that’s game over?
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 18:38
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
Punjab: 250-9 (48 overs)
Khan finds three twos in a row to keep the hosts nervous, but then nicks off on the fourth ball. Hussain comes and goes for a first-ball duck. Captain to the crease but it’ll take something special from here.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 18:32
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
Punjab: 243-7 (47 overs)
Five singles and a dot. Good over from Kingma. 32 off the last three now. Still Ahmad, Khan on strike.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 18:26
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
Punjab: 238-7 (46 overs)
De Leede has to finish the 45th as Mulder pulls up with an injury, and all singles for the rest of the over. Ali Ahmad bowls the next and Nidamanuru finds the requisite boundary. Ten off it. 37 to get in the last four. Kingma back.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 18:16
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
Punjab: 223-7 (44.1 overs)
Usman and Nidamanuru hit back at once, taking 15 off de Leede’s next over, but the VCC skipper strikes back, holding a catch off Dutt to see Usman head back for for 12. Bajwa in. And Bajwa out. Mulder into the attack and again de Leede with the catch. Khan to the crease, 52 to get.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 18:06
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
Punjab: 202-5 (41 overs)
And another down. Boissevain has the last Zulfiqar caught and the VCC fightback is entirely on. Usman in and de Leede back into the attack.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 17:55
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
Punjab: 200-4 (39.5 overs)
But Rehmat goes without adding to his score, caught by Pieterse off Boissevain, and in the next over Kingma gets Saqib caught behind by Tobias Nota. A big swing in Voorburg’s favour there!
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 17:47
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
Punjab: 196-2 (38 overs)
A century for Rehmat, his hundred coming from 127 deliveries with seven fours and three sixes. Punjab still need 79 from 12 overs, but if they get there they’ll owe a huge debt to Rehmat Zulfiqar.
VOC vs Dosti-United 17:45
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 160 all out (40.2 overs)
Not this time, though: Asief Hoseinbaks is run out next ball, and VOC have their first points. Hanif finishes with four for 46. Full credit to Dosti, however, for putting up a good fight. And, of course, to VOC, who recovered from 40 for five to set a total they could defend..
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 17:42
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 229 all out (47.5 overs)
Hell for leather at the death isn’t really Potdar’s game, and it tells in the end. He pops one back to Cooper on the slog and goes for a creditable 41, having kept the hosts in the game for the last dozen overs or so. At this point as a tail ender you might as well have a swing, and creditably van Vliet does just that, but only suceeds in getting everyone out of the sun with a top edge off Cooper that Hartsink gratefully grabs.
VOC vs Dosti-United 17:39
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 160-9 (40.1 overs)
Bobby Hanif returns, and with his first delivery has Raji caught behind for 33. That, you might think, just about settles it, but we’ve been caught that way before . . .
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 17:36
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
<b.Punjab: 173-2 (35 overs)
But it’s Boissevain who strikes, as Asad holes out to Kingma and goes for 22. So Saqib joins Rehmat, who’s on 81. 101 needed from 15.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 17:32
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 214-8 (45 overs)
And the pressure tells! The inevitable mix-up sees Kumar stranded half way down the track as Potdar sends him back, Turmaine has time to walk to the stumps and flick the bails off. Van Vliet in, but that’s the game you’d think. 40 needed off the last five.
VOC vs Dosti-United 17:30
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 160-8 (39.4 overs)
Schoonheim traps Ahmad in front, and Dosti have just two wickets left with 20 still needed.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 17:27
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 212-7 (44 overs)
Gunning bowls out for figures of 1-26, and ACC need to find another gear here toward the death. Spin at both ends with Cooper continuing and Turmaine returning now from the river end.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 17:26
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
<b.Punjab: 163-1 (32 overs)
111 needed off 18 overs. Rehmat moves on to 75, Asad on 25. Kingma and Mulder each have four overs left, De Leede and Boissevain six apiece. But Boissevain’s four so far have gone for 32, while De Leede’s have cost just 8.
VOC vs Dosti-United 17:19
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 151-7 (37 overs)
Raji on 28 now, and 29 needed. Still Dosti are in with a chance.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 17:17
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 184-7 (41 overs)
Gunning unlucky not to get his first on the first ball of the 41st as Mulready skews one hard over extra only to be dropped over the rope, but Mulready won’t be riding his luck. He nicks off next ball to bring Kumar to the crease.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 17:15
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
<b.Punjab: 153-1 (30 overs)
Rehmat on 67, Asad on 19, and 122 needed off the last 20. With two batmen well set and plenty of batting to come the odds just about favour Punjab, but they still have a lot to do.
VOC vs Dosti-United 17:10
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 144-7 (35 overs)
And then, of course, they do, Hoseinbaks caught behind by De Kok off Ahsan Malik for 10. Touseef Ahmad joins Raji.
VOC vs Dosti-United 17:07
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 144-6 (34 overs)
Gradually, Raji and Hoseinbaks are gathering the runs they need – just 36 required now, and 16 overs left. Ahsan Malik is back, but VOC can’t get the breakthrough they need.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 17:04
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 184-6 (38 overs)
Cooper takes over at the City End and it proves a judicious move, the extra bounce does for Ramesh on the chop and feathered behind to Lees, three short of a half century. Mulready in.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 16:29
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 177-5 (37 overs)
Ramesh and Potdar quietly chipping away at VRA’s advantage here, and after some discussion Gunning is brought back from the Amstel end. Fielder’s heads starting to dip in the heat, but Potdar and Ramesh only seem to be warming to the task. Game just starting to drift in the host’s favour.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 16:56
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
<b.Punjab: 132-1 (25 overs)
A fifty for Rehmat as well, and Voorburg’s bowlers are unable to make any greater impression on Punjab’s batting than the Rotterdammers could on theirs. A day for the batsmen, at Westvliet at least.
VOC vs Dosti-United 16:51
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 125-6 (30 overs)
Sukumar Raji and Farid Hoseinbaks are showing some admirable resistance here, and they have enough overs to get the 55 they still need. It’s the wickets that are the problem, however.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 16:46
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
<b.Punjab: 118-1 (22 overs)
Myburgh was run out for 54, but Rehmat Zulfiqar is on 44 and brother Asad on 9. This could be another very tight finish!
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 16:41
HCC 237 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta: 84 all out (24 overs)
Floyd bowls Balwantsingh for a duck, and it’s hard to see Sparta creating any miracles here, especially after he adds the scalp of Hoornweg for 4. And then, remarkably, he traps Snoep in front, to finish with a double wicket maiden and figures of three for 21. Overdijk has four for 24 and Klaus three for 9. Another superb effort from the HCC attack.
Excelsior ’20 vs HBS 16:35
HBS : 140 all out (33 overs)
Excelsior: 141-4 (34.4 overs)
Shankar goes for 6, bowled by Ferdi Vink, but Van Troost and Heinsbroek finish it off, the young opener 65 not out at the end. Excellent knock by him, and a solid effort by last year’s champions.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 16:29
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 124-5 (28 overs)
Another for Hartsink, Raza cutting up over backward point, but not up enough. Nashier is under it and makes no mistake. Nor does Cooper in Hartsink’s next over, tracking back from mid on to take a simple catch and send Hosur back to the pavilion. Ramesh and Potdar in now.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 16:18
HCC 237 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta: 76-7 (21 overs)
Things look desperate for Sparta, and Bukhari uses the long handle against Klaus, only to be caught by Vecchi at long off. Klaus now has three for 3 off four overs!
Excelsior ’20 vs HBS 16:23
HBS : 140 all out (33 overs)
Excelsior: 126-3 (32 overs)
Rens doesn’t last long before falling to Geenevasen, and Sanjit Shankar joins Stan van Troost, who now has 59.
VOC vs Dosti-United 16:21
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 104-6 (23 overs)
Himanshu Shah bowls Sudeep Raju for 2, and the slide continues. Not for the first time, a good start is being frittered away here.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 16:18
HCC 237 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta: 67-5 (18 overs)
Raza only knows one way to play, and he hits Overdijk for a couple of fours before holing out to long on off Ollie Klaus for 11.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 16:14
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs
ACC : 107-3 (23 overs)
And one brings two as Turmaine strikes at the other end to pin Knoll in front for 30. Two new bats in now as Raza joins Hosur. ACC into three figures now but pressure back on the hosts you’d say.
VOC vs Dosti-United 16:12
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 104-5 (21.5 overs)
Rohan Malik into the attack, and he has Hans caught by namesake Ahsan for 12. Then he gets Dhaduti as well, caught by Jain. And Dosti are in deep trouble.
Excelsior ’20 vs HBS 16:05
HBS : 140 all out (33 overs)
Excelsior: 113-2 (29 overs)
Etman goes, bowled by De Mey for 34 with Nelson on the board, but Stan van Troost has meantime brought up his first Topklasse half-century. He’s joined now by big brother Rens, and Excelsior are closing in on the win.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 16:04
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 98-2 (20 overs)
Spin at both ends now as Hartsink comes into the attack, leaks seven in his first but castles McInersney with the first ball of his next. Hosur in to join Knoll.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 15:58
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
Punjab: 61-0 (10 overs)
Myburgh has now overtaken Zulfiqar: he’s on 29, and his partner on 23. Punjab seem unfazed by the task ahead.
Excelsior ’20 vs HBS 15:55
HBS : 140 all out (33 overs)
Excelsior: 107-1 (26 overs)
Van Troost has moved on to 49, Etman on 33. They’ve put on 92 together, and HBS’s seven bowlers aren’t making any impression.
VOC vs Dosti-United 15:53
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 89-3 (17 overs)
Dhaduti has faced 18 balls without scoring, Hans is on 6. But at least they’re still there, and there are plenty of overs left.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 15:48
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 83-1 (16 overs)
VRA still toiling in the heat to little effect. Both batsmen in the 20s now as Turmaine comes on from the River End. The hosts have a solid platform here, but a long way to go.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 15:47
HCC 237 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta: 41-4 (11 overs)
And three for Overdijk: the big wicket of Van Wyk, leg-before for 13. And then a fourth, as Faisal Iqbal is caught behind without scoring. He has four for 15 in six overs at this stage. Ali Raza joins Bukhari as Sparta are in danger of crumbling.
VOC vs Dosti-United 15:41
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 83-3 (12.5 overs)
And another one goes, Ravichandran caught behind first ball. Three for Hanif, and Dosti slipping back into their bad old ways.
VOC vs Dosti-United 15:36
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 83-2 (12.4 overs)
Masood’s enterprising innings comes to an end, caught by Arnav Jain off Bobby Hanif for a 33-ball 35 with three fours and three sixes. Amith Dhaduti joins his skipper, who’s on 37. But then Tewarie goes as well, caught by Ahsan Malik. And that’s the cue for a drink.
Excelsior ’20 vs HBS 15:30
HBS : 140 all out (33 overs)
Excelsior: 74-1 (20 overs)
Excelsior go past the halfway point, with Van Troost now on 36 and Etman on 17. Visée has used six bowlers already, but without any further success.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 15:27
HCC 237 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta: 20-2 (7 overs)
A second wicket for Overdijk, as Ambrose is caught by Hennop at midwicket for 9. Bukhari joins Van Wyk for what could be the most crucial partnership of the match.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 15:24
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 52-1 (10 overs)
Gunning with another maiden, but Abid still leaky at the other end. He’s replaced by Andrew now, and not for the first time in the game the bog man makes an immediate impact, Kothari lashes at his first ball and the outside edge flies high and far toward Luke Hartsink who had been hidden at deep third man. Broken hand or no, he rushes in to take a fine catch. Knoll at three and lucky to consensus around the boundary is he’s lucky to get away with what sounded like an edge through to Lees two balls later, though it should be said VRA’s appeal was a little underwhelming. An entertaining over concludes with Knoll driving the last ball through extra cover for four to get off the mark. Gunning to continue.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 15:21
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
Punjab: 14-0 (3 overs)
And they’re under way again at Westvliet, Stef Myburgh and Rehmat Zulfiqar proceeding carefully through the lower slopes of the mountain they have to climb. Interestingly, it’s Zulfiqar who is the more aggressive, hitting a couple of fours to get the scoreboard moving..
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 15:15
HCC 237 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta: 13-1 (4 overs)
Consecutive maidens from Bijloos and Overdijk, but then Ambrose breaks free with two boundaries off the former. Sparta need to keep things moving.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 15:09
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 29-0 (7 overs)
Gunning continues to threaten, finally finds McInerney’s edge but it’s dropped in the gully. Another, tougher chance in the next over as Kothari drives Abid uppishly toward mid off, though may not quite have carried. Kothari clearly the wicket they want though, has looked increasingly assured cutting away anything wide as he moves into the 20s
VOC vs Dosti-United 15:08
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 42-0 (7.1 overs)
Just at the moment Dosti are looking a different side: Ahsan Malik is replaced by Bobby Hanif, and Masood has just despatched Van Wingerden into the undergrowth.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 15:08
HBS : 140 all out (33 overs)
Excelsior: 36-1 (14 overs)
Under no great pressure, Van Troost and Etman are making steady progress. Singh and Ahmed on now, replacing De Mey and Vink.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 15:02
HCC 237 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta: 5-1 (1 over)
An immediate breakthrough at the Bermweg: Mamoon Latif hits Overdijk for four, but then is caught by Floyd later in the over. Van Wyk joins Craig Ambrose in the middle. Reinier Bijloos from the other end.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 15:00
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 15-0 (4 overs)
First runs off the bat as Abid offers too much width and Kothari cuts him away behind point for four. Top-edged swipe at another wide on flies over the cordon for four more. Ten off the over. Gunning gets his maiden in the next, McInerney doesn’t seem to be seeing it terribly well as yet, but Kothari seems very happy with Abid’s errant line and keeps the score ticking at the other end.
VOC vs Dosti-United 14:49
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Dosti: 11-0 (2 overs)
They’re back at the Hazelaarweg as well, with Ahsan Malik opening from the Pavilion End to Vinoo Tewarie and Waheed Masood. Siebe van Wingerden operating from the Airport End.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 14:48
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
ACC : 1-0 (1 over)
McInerney and Kothari to the middle for the hosts, Gunning with the new ball for VRA, A single wide spoils the maiden, but threatens the edge a few times. Abid from the other end.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 14:41
HBS : 140 all out (33 overs)
Excelsior: 15-1 (7.1 overs)
Kroesen goes for 11, stumped by Visée off Ferdi Vink. Niels Etman joins Van Troost.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 14:33
HBS : 140 all out (33 overs)
Excelsior: 7-0 (5 overs)
At Thurlede, meanwhile, Excelsior have started their chase, Luuk Kroesen and Stan van Troost opening against Julian de Mey and Ferdi Vink. No alarums as yet.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 14:30
Voorburg : 274-4 (50 overs)
A maiden Topklasse century for Bas de Leede, and he could scarcely have chosen a better occasion to have posted it. He finishes on 106, made off 137 deliveries with five boundaries. Boissenvain’s given him splendid support in the final overs, making a 17-ball 37 which included three sixes. Voorburg have not only posted the highest total of the day; they have set Punjab a very testing examination.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 14:16
HCC 237 all out (46.2 overs)
Van Wyk cleans it up with a return catch to remove the last man. 237’s a pretty good total at the Bermweg!
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 14:11
HCC 232-9 (46 overs)
This is proving a very valuable ninth-wicket partnership for HCC. But as a write that Lagas leaves a Hoornweg delivery and is bowled for 7. Still, the point stands.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 14:09
VRA : 259 all out (49 overs)
Van Vliet at extra cover practically running in with the bowler to get into the circle there, Lees doesn’t seem terribly distracted though and simply drills the ball right past him to the rope. Adds injury to insult as he repeats the shot against van Vliet himself in the next over. He’ll be thinking about his fifty now. He needs ten more. Or in fact he won’t as Abid nicks off on the final ball. Luke Hartsink is still unfit to bat so that’s that. Not sure why they couldn’t just send him out to stand at the non-striker’s end for the last over given that Lees would have been on strike, but hey-ho.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 14:04
Voorburg : 209-4 (43.5 overs)
De Grooth goes for 65, caught by Saqib Zulfiqar off Sikander Zulfiqar (or vice versa, but I think that’s right). De Leede’s on 81, and that stand added 120. Philippe Boissevain in at six.
VOC vs Dosti-United 13:59
VOC : 179 all out (49 overs)
Two more for Tewarie, first Durrani caught by Asief Hoseinbaks in the deep for 37, and then Himanshu Shah bowled first ball. And then a fourth, last man Moorman stumped for 1. Tewarie finishes with four for 32.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 13:58
VRA : 247-8 (47 overs)
Nashier goes looking to force the pace, big top edge on a cross-batted slog off van Vliet and Knoll makes good ground off the midwicket rope to take a sliding catch on the circle. Abid in to join Lees, who slams the next ball hard and flat over mid off four four. Looks to repeat the shot two balls later, thick outside edge will show up the same in the scorebook. Raza returns.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 13:55
HCC 216-8 (42 overs)
Laurens Lagas and Olivier Klaus are wagging the tail to some effect, Klaus hitting a couple of boundaries off Singh and moving quickly to 19.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 13:50
VRA : 239-7 (46 overs)
Gunning‘s entertaining knock comes to an end first ball after drinks, trapped LBW by Arya for 41 off 45. Very useful runs in the circumstances. Nashier joins Lees, who’s on 23* with 4 overs to go. Van Vliet returns.
VOC vs Dosti-United 13:47
VOC : 167-7 (47 overs)
Rutgers goes after Tewarie once too often, and his slog-sweep is caught by Kumar on the square leg boundary. He goes for 63, and Bobby Hanif joins Durrani, who’s on 28.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 13:41
Voorburg : 184-3 (40 overs)
And now De Grooth has his fifty, as Voorburg look like setting Punjab a pretty challenging total. He’s on 54, De Leede’s on 65, and the stand is now 96.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 13:40
VRA : 227-6 (44 overs)
Kumar and Arya again for ACC, but this seventh wicket partnership between Gunning and Lees is still motoring along at a run-a-ball, Gunning happy to risk the sweep and the occasional charge down the wicket, Lees content just to punish any width on offer.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 13:37
HCC 195-8 (37 overs)
Clayton Floyd comes and goes, caught by Iqbal off Singh for 1, and Yash Patel soon follows, caught behind off the first delivery from the returning Hoornweg. Vecchi brings up his 50 and is then trapped in front by Singh. Really, I blame myself.
VOC vs Dosti-United 13:37
VOC : 156-6 (44 overs)
A half-century for Rutgers as well, and with Durrani moving to 18 VOC are producing a pretty decent recovery from 40 for five.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 13:29
Voorburg : 162-3 (36 overs)
De Leede and De Grooth motoring now, moving on to 60 and 39 respectively, and the stand’s worth 74.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 13:25
HBS : 140 all out (33 overs)
Heggelman returns to get the last, bowling Vink for 18. Geenevasen is left not out on 9. Three for 27 for Baker, three for 18 for Rens van Troost.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 13:20
VRA : 194-6 (38 overs)
Gunning continues the counter-attack after the break, a handsome back foot drive through extra cover off Knoll finds the rope, and then Kothari is treated to a long-levered slog-sweep over midwicket for six next over.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 13:20
HCC 191-5 (34 overs)
Faisal Iqbal bowls a no-ball and suffers accordingly, Vecchi taking two of the delivery itself and then smashing the free hit over long on for six. Vecchi moves to 49.
VOC vs Dosti-United 13:19
VOC : 130-6 (40 overs)
Using all his experience, Rutgers goes after Tewarie, slog-sweeping over midwicket for four and then, after he strengthens the leg-side field, nurdling him down to third man for a couple. He’s on 46 now, and Durrani’s on 14
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 13:15
HCC 176-5 (33 overs)
I should shut up! Singh has Hennop caught by Danish Umar for 23.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 13:10
HCC 166-4 (31 overs)
Drinks at the Bermweg too, with Vecchi moving on to 32 and Hennop on 17. HCC have the basis for a decent score here.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 13:05
HBS : 116-9 (27.5 overs)
Another for Baker: Coster trapped leg-before for 13. HBS hanging on by a thread.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 13:03
VRA : 175-6 (34 overs)
And a third for Knoll as Turmaine is bowled for 2. Gunning joins Lees, and starts positively, lofted straight drive off Raza races to the rope for four. Drinks.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 13:02
Voorburg : 131-3 (30 overs)
De Leede brings up his half-century, and with De Grooth on 18 this is a VERY big partnership for Voorburg. What’s a defensible total for their attack against Punjab’s explosive batting?
VOC vs Dosti-United 12:59
VOC : 90-6 (35 overs)
Hans returns to bowl Schoonheim for 27. Ayaz Durrani joins Rutgers, who is on 21 and who has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 12:56
VRA : 169-5 (32 overs)
Another down here, Cooper on the sweep and it stays low on him and into the pads. He’s a long way down but there’s little hesitation. Lees in and momentum shifting here.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 12:54
HCC 150-4 (28 overs)
Snoep completes an excellent spell, taking two for 35 in ten straight overs of seam. Faisal Iqbal joins Bukhari in the attack.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 12:53
Voorburg : 119-3 (28 overs)
Aryan Dutt doesn’t last long, caught by Asad Zulfiqar off Saqib of that Ilk for 5. But De Leede’s moved on to 46, in company now with Tom de Grooth, who’s on 18.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 12:49
HBS : 109-8 (25 overs)
HBS sink deeper into trouble, as Ingram ends a patient knock by Ahmed, trapping him in front for 26. Wessel Coster and Steven Vink batting.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 12:45
VRA : 157-4 (29 overs)
Andrews’ antics look to have inspired Singh, who puts Kumar onto the clubhouse roof third ball of the 28th. But he won’t make it to fifty. Knoll from the other end and a leading edge pops up for a dolly at mid on and gone for 48. Dasgupta in at five, and gone first ball, pushes forward and that’s another simple catch for Potdar. Turmaine in for the hattrick ball, and barely survives it, outside edge flies low into the cordon but it’s put down. Next one beats the edge and a huge appeal is turned down. VRA wobbling of a sudden.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 12:41
HCC 138-4 (24 overs)
And a wicket at the Bermweg, Snoep bowling Overdijk for 25. Daniel Hennop joins Vecchi, who’s on 23.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 12:38
HBS : 100-7 (22 overs)
Now Umar Baker’s causing problems, getting Vink caught behind by Stan van Troost for 2, then Julian de Mey caught by Ingram without scoring.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 12:36
HCC 131-3 (23 overs)
Bukhari’s back into the attack for Sparta, long with Snoep who is nearing the end of a very tidy spell, but Vecchi and Overdijk are making steady progress.
VOC vs Dosti-United 12:34
VOC : 72-5 (28 overs)
Rutgers and Schoolheim are busily engaged in digging their side out of trouble, against Dosti’s spinners Hoseinbaks and Tewarie. Long way to go, though.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 12:32
VRA : 140-2 (26 overs)
Wheels well and truly off for ACC now. Kumar back and the first ball is dumped over the square boundary, insult to injury as it’s called a no ball with too few men in the circle. Waste high full toss is pulled round the corner for four more. Yikes. Two balls later and a muscular cut through backward point brings up a 19-ball fifty. The carnage finally comes to an end on the fifth (legal) ball of the over, big top edge on the pull and it’s in the air for an age, McInernery under it and makes no mistake. Never have a team been so happy to see Ben Cooper come to the crease, one imagines.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 12:25
HBS : 90-5 (20 overs)
Another for Van Troost: Scholte caught by Heggelman without scoring. Ferdi Vink joins Ahmed.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 12:22
VRA : 117-1 (24 overs)
Andrews’ onslaught continues as he whips Raza effortless over midwicket and the sloot, goes even bigger two balls later, same direction and absolutely massive. He’s on to 37* now, having taken just 12 balls to overtake Singh, who’s on 32* off 75.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 12:21
HCC 106-3 (19 overs)
Felix Vecchi and Hidde Overdijk at the crease for HCC, Manminder Singh into the attack for Sparta.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 12:18
Voorburg : 79-2 (19 overs)
Another inspired bowling change, as Teja Nidamanuru comes on and immediately bowls Razzaqi for 24. A very useful half-century stand for Voorburg, and De Leede’s there on 34.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 12:14
HBS : 75-4 (16 overs)
At Thurlede Rens van Troost comes into the attack and immediately removes both Mason (stumped by Rens’s brother Stan for 24) and Singh (bowled for 15). Adil Ahmed and Martijn Scholte batting now.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 12:12
VRA : 97-1 (21 overs)
McInerney finds the breakthrough. Rasool a bit late getting forward to a fullish ball and is castled for 38. Marcus Andrew to the crease, presumably to provide some acceleration, and so he does. Gets a no ball first up which he puts over the midwicket rope where the scorers are saved by their parasol. The free hit is sent over long on, the next cut viciously through point for four, the next lifted over mid off for another. Fair to say ACC rather regret taking that wicket now.
VOC vs Dosti-United 11:56
VOC : 46-5 (18 overs)
And another one’s gone at the Hazelaarweg, with Ahsan Malik bowled by Hans. Rutgers and Schoolheim at the crease, but VOC in real trouble.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 12:04
HCC 91-3 (13 overs)
So: the departed HCC batsmen are Staal for 16, LBW to Van Wyk, Musa Ahmed run out for 34, and Crowley, bowled Snoep for 20.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 12:00
VRA : 72-0 (19 overs)
Van Vliet comes in for some tap next over as Singh drives straight for four and then glances fine for three more.. Hints of acceleration perhaps? Of a stuttering sort.. Double bowling change as Raza comes on at the city end and gives up just one from his first, but McInerney fares less well. A fine front foot drive from Rasool is hauled in on the long off rope, and the next goes up and over cover for four. He moves on to 37*, Singh on 27* at drinks.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 11:58
HCC 91-3 (13 overs)
News from the Bermweg. We’re chasing a bit more information.
VOC vs Dosti-United 11:56
VOC : 40-4 (15 overs)
But a wicket at the Hazelaarweg as Mahesh Hans comes into the attack, and a direct hit by Jatin Kumar finds Jain short of his ground. And one brings two, as De Kok goes after Ahmad and is caught at deep midwicket for 16.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 11:50
Voorburg : 46-1 (11 overs)
Steady progress at Westvliet, too, where Razzaqi and De Leede are building a useful stand.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 11:47
VRA : 54-0 (16 overs)
Kothari and van Vliet still for ACC, and Singh and Rasool look content to wait on the bad balls, of which there have been few. The second ball of the 16th is one such, however, and Rasool slog-sweeps Kothari high over the midwicket boundary to bring up the team fifty. A speculative LBW shout follows as Rasool misses one going back to the next ball, but no joy.
VOC vs Dosti-United 11:47
VOC : 32-2 (13 overs)
Consolidation on all fronts: at the Hazelaarweg Touseef Ahmad is into the attack from the Pavilion End, but De Kok and Jain are pushing the ball about and accumulating the singles.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 11:33
HBS : 35-2 (7 overs)
Heggelman gets into the act, bowling Boddendijk for 2. Mason’s still there, joined now by Navjit Singh. The rather wobbly HBS batting line-up needs a good partnership here!
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 11:30
VRA : 30-0 (11 overs)
Kothari into the attack and Rasool breaks out the sweep, second ball whipped round fine for four. Van Vliet from the other end now, thick edged swipe over backward point from Singh the only scoring shot of the over.
VOC vs Dosti-United 11:29
VOC : 18-2 (8 overs)
Masood strikes again: this time it’s Van Wingerden who hears the dreaded rattle of timber. Arnav Jain joins De Kok, and Dosti have a dream start.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 11:26
Voorburg : 28-1 (6 overs)
A wicket at Westvliet, where Pieterse is caught by Rehmat Zulfiqar off Usman’s bowling for 9.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 11:23
VRA : 25-0 (9 overs)
Rasool breaks the shackles with a front-foot drive through cover off Arya that races through to the rope. Otherwise uneventful here as the temperature creeps up.
VOC vs Dosti-United 11:22
VOC : 12-1 (6 overs)
Malik goes for 2, bowled by Masood. Enter Tim de Kok.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 11:19
HBS : 30-1 (3.4 overs)
A bit more drama at Thurlede, where Visée produces the usual fireworks, mostly at the expense of Niels Etman. Lorenzo Ingram starts as well, but after one over gives way to Tom Heggelman. But then Etman gets his revenge, as Visée goes, caught by Umr Baker. He made 19 off eight deliveries, with four boundaries. Benno Boddendijk in at three.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 11:13
VRA : 17-0 (6 overs)
Lovely square drive from Rasool off Kumar in the third is just about chased down on the point boundary, but they manage to steal three. Otherwise becalmed as the ACC bowlers settle into their rhythm.
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 11:14
Voorburg : 5-0 (3 overs)
A change in the batting order for Voorburg as well, with Alyan Razzaqi opening alongside Righardt Pieterse. Cautious start here too, against Suleiman Tariq and Yasir Usman.
VOC vs Dosti-United 11:10
VOC : 4-0 (2 overs)
Siebe van Wingerden has been promoted to open with Rohan Malik, and they’ve made a quiet start against Asief Hoseinbaks and Waheed Masood. A single apiece, a wide and a leg-bye get VOC started.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 11:02
VRA : 10-0 (2 overs)
Bit of an early start, and Aryan Kumar back with the new ball for the hosts, Singh and Rasool opening for VRA. The latter takes advantage of a much-improved outfield with a handsome drive through the covers for four on the last ball of the first. Rasool takes note and treats Arya to a similar shot on the first ball of the second. Rare value for shots out there today.
Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS 10:57
HBS: ( overs)
Tobias Visée gets it right, and HBS too will have a bat.
VOC vs Dosti-United 10:50
VOC: ( overs)
Vinoo Tewarie gets the call wrong, and VOC take full advantage by putting Dosti into the field.
Sparta 1888 vs HCC 10:48
HCC: ( overs)
And at the Bermweg Tonny Staal has called correctly, and HCC will also have a bat. Not a day to field first if you can help it!
Voorburg CC vs Punjab 10:45
Voorburg: ( overs)
The first carrier pigeon has arrived, with news that Voorburg has won the toss, and Bas de Leede has elected to have a bat.
ACC vs VRA Amsterdam 10:35
Absolutely appalling heat here at het Loopveld, where Vikram Singh has won the toss for VRA and elected to bat.
Rod Lyall 10:10
Good morning etc. once again to one and all. We hope those of you in the Netherlands are bearing up in the heat. While you swelter, some of us are surviving the coldest, wettest day of the Sydney winter so far. Bertus will be bringing us news of the Amsterdam derby, Sander’s at the Hazelaarweg, and I’ll be collecting all the action from the other games. It’s another round of absorbing encounters, and we hope you’ll enjoy our coverage of it. While observing social distancing and maintaining your liquid intake, of course! News of the tosses in 20 minutes or so.
