The Topklasse table after Round 7

 Rod Lyall  19:10
Well, that’s as weird an end to a day’s cricket as I can remember, though I guess the World Cup final in 2007 runs it pretty close. HBS were on the verge of clinching their match, VOC still needing 30 runs off six overs and only two wickets left, but it could still have gone either way. And HCC-Excelsior was absolutely in the balance when the light intervened. But then to have the controversy about Jelte van Troost’s retirement . . . I did once see Kenya’s Collins Obuya trip over the boundary rope in a T20I and pull his hamstring, but in his case he had arguably not entered the field of play. And ‘retired hurt’ is never ever a wicket anyway. A tie’s probably a fair result, and the point keeps HCC’s unbeaten record and gives them a further edge over Punjab when the two sides meet next week. Anyway, this is Rod Lyall saying goodnight (or good morning, given I’m in Sydney), hoping you’ve enjoyed our coverage over the weekend, and that you’ll join us again next week for what should be a cracker.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   19:04
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 132-6 (41 overs)
After a good deal of toing and froing, the game is indeed declared a tie. There was some uncertainty because earlier in the innings young Jelte van Troost collapsed on his way to the crease with cramp and retired hurt without facing a ball. But that doesn’t count as a wicket, and therefore Excelsior were six wickets down at the end.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   18:33
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 222-8 (45 overs)
It’s official. HBS win by 6 runs on DLS.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   18:30
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 132-6 (41 overs)
There are rumours of a DLS tie, but we’ll wait for the official confirmation.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   18:27
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 132-6 (41 overs)
Play has also been suspended at De Diepput, and we await a DLS calculation. But Ingram’s approach in that previous over is now much more explicable!

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   18:22
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 222-8 (45 overs)
Drama at Craeyenhout, where we understand that the players are off the field for bad light, with VOC just 6 runs short of the DLS par score. We’re awaiting confirmation that that’s a result.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   18:18
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 132-6 (41 overs)
Ingram lifts the tempo, moving on to 45 in the process, and now the equation’s 40 off nine.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   18:07
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 118-6 (39 overs)
A big wicket at De Diepput, too, but not THE big wicket; Shankar goes for 13, caught by Patel off Ahmad. But Ingram’s still there on 35, joined now by skipper Heggelman.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   18:05
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 216-8 (44.? overs)
Game, set and match, one feels, as Rutgers drives Geenevasen uppishly into the covers, is caught by Visée (Scholte having taken over the gloves) and is on his way. That was a great fighting innings, but he didn’t get enough support in the end.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  17:53
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 163-4 (48 overs)
Kingma lofts Gunning’s first over mid off for four, and three balls later back over his head for four more. Stand and deliver stuff. Aborted single keeps him on strike for the last ball which he lifts over mid on for the winning runs.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  17:53
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 148-4 (47 overs)
Six off Nashier’s next and the Raja taken for 9 again in the 47th. Just 12 to get now and VRA have to make something happen. Gunning returns.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   17:53
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 106-5 (36 overs)
And 66 off 14 at De Diepput, with Ingram very much the key. He’s on 30 now, with Shankar on 8. Klaus has bowled out, but Hidde Overdijk and Floyd have three left apiece, and Crowley as well. Musa Ahmed on now.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   17:49
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 193-7 (39 overs)
But Rutgers can’t afford to take a single early in the over any more; the asking rate is creeping up, and he’ll need to do the lion’s share of the scoring. 59 off 11.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  17:37
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 133-4 (45 overs)
Nashier into the attack, five off it but sixes required now. Dots at a premium now for the hosts but Raja can only find one in the 45th and then Dutt finds the rope off the fifth ball sweeping square. Nine off it and VCC with their noses ahead again.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   17:43
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 187-7 (37 overs)
And only three now, as Bobby Hanif departs. 65 needed from 13, but Rutgers is the key.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  17:37
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 119-4 (43 overs)
One brings two. Boissevain on the sweep to Raja and stone dead. Kingma up the order. Advantage VRA?

 Rod Lyall  17:37
All three remining matches are interestingly poised: two of the chasing sides are facing lowish targets, but chasing is proving a tough ask. VOC were looking the least likely to prevail, but as long as Rutgers is there they have a chance. Ditto Ingram for Excelsior, while Voorburg have the easiest task on paper but are just beginning to falter. Stay tuned!

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  17:32
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 118-3 (42 overs)
Huge wicket! Singh finds de Leede’s edge, not easy for Lees behind the stumps but he clings on low to his right and rather loses his cool about it. De Leede goes for 34, Boissevain in. Game on.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   17:31
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 84-5 (30.1 overs)
Hidde Overdijk back into the attack, and he promptly joins the LBW party. Rens van Troost is the victim, and they’re leaving a lot for Ingram to shoulder. Shankar’s with him now.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  17:25
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 111-2 (40 overs)
Singh almost holds onto a screamer off Turmaine, low to his left at short mid on, but did well to stop it really. Dutt takes advantage of the reprieve to sweep the next hard through square for four. Looks like he has instructions to attack. Singh still from the other end, just one off the 40th, Nelson on the board. Raja on from Mulder’s end.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  17:15
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 102-2 (38 overs)
Hundred up for VCC, but the asking rate is just beginning to creep up toward fives. Wickets wouldn’t be a worry except that with Tom de Grooth absent they don’t bat as deep as they’d like. VRA still in this.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   17:19
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 172-6 (31 overs)
After a somewhat hysterical start VOC have settled to their task, and Rutgers has brought up another battling fifty. Bobby Hanif with him now. Plenty of overs left, but only four wickets.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  17:15
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 99-2 (36 overs)
Lapse in concentration, or just boredom perhaps, Pieterse across the line to Singh and loses his off stump for 52. Dutt at four and Singh beats his outside edge first up. Turmaine to continue from Mulder’s End.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   17:06
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 151-6 (?? overs)
Schoonheim is caught by De Mey off Navjit Singh’s bowling. Rutgers is still there, but who will stay with him?

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   17:03
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 67-4 (21 overs)
Another LBW, Etman to Klaus for 15, and it seems to be up to Ingram and Rens van Troost if Excelsior are to get close here.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  16:58
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 96-1 (34 overs)
Pieterse brings up his fifty with a cross-batted swipe off Singh out to long on and a hard run three. De Leede still with him on 28*. Much-needed drinks now with VCC in a commanding position.

 Punjab vs Sparta 1888  16:51
Sparta : 243 all out (46 overs)
Punjab 244-2 (23.3 overs)
Nidamanuru goes for 95 just before the end, but that’s about as comprehensive a win as it’s possible to have. Myburgh finishes with an unbeaten 130.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   16:46
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 51-3 (17 overs)
Kroesen major is also trapped leg-before, by Floyd in this instance. Ingram joins Etman as Excelsior are in something of a crisis.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  16:44
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 80-1 (28 overs)
De Leede brings up the fifty partnership in the 26th, Borren beginning to leak runs as the over goes for 7. Dogged partnership between these two has put VCC well in control. They milk another three singles off Turmaine in the next, and Singh takes over from Borren.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   16:40
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 132-5 (21 overs)
Ahsan Malik has gone, succeeded by Jelte Schoonheim, while Rutgers has moved on to 36.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   16:38
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 39-2 (15 overs)
Luuk Kroesen is trapped in front by Olivier Klaus, and is succeeded by big brother Joost.

 Punjab vs Sparta 1888  16:33
Sparta : 243 all out (46 overs)
Punjab 189-1 (21 overs)
Myburgh’s third century in seven games will come as no surprise, and with Nidamanuru passing his fifty Punjab look to be cruising.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  16:28
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 59-1 (24 overs)
“Attritional” doesn’t begin to describe this. De Leede and Pieterse happy to wear VRA down in the heat. Borren and Gunning for the hosts, singles here and there but not great watching. Turmaine into the attack now to replace Gunning/

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   16:26
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 33-1 (11.3 overs)
Clayton Floyd into the attack and he’s the one that gets the breakthrough, Verhagen caught by Vecchi for 18. Etman in at three.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  16:16
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 51-1 (20 overs)
Hot work out there for VRA as Gunning returns to relieve Raja at the Mulders end. Borren still at the other end. Pieterse brings up the 50 for VCC with a push into the covers for a single. They’re not exactly rollicking along but the asking rate is hardly terribly demanding.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   16:17
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 73-4 (14 overs)
Spin at both ends now, Ahmed from the Scoreboard End and De Mey from the Bosjes van Pex End, and Malik and Rutgers have both donned caps in recognition of the fact.

 Punjab vs Sparta 1888  16:14
Sparta : 243 all out (46 overs)
Punjab 142-1 (17 overs)
It’s starting to look as if 243 might have been well short; Myburgh on 84 and Nidamanuru on 44, and plenty of overs left.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   16:11
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 18-0 (8 overs)
Kroesen and Verhagen have made a somewhat sedate start against Overdijk and Overdijk. No alarums so far.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   15:59
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 45-4 (?? overs)
A promising little recovery, led by Ahsan Malik, comes to an end as confusion between the batmen leads to a run out. That’s all VOC needed. Rutgers joins Malik.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  15:55
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 41-1 (15 overs)
Another maiden from Borren, who looks a handful today. Raja at the other end not giving much away either.

 Punjab vs Sparta 1888  15:53
Sparta : 243 all out (46 overs)
Punjab 92-1 (12 overs)
It’s Nidamanuru, promoted to three, who’s batting with Myburgh, who has moved on to 55.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   15:47
HCC: 171-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 5-0 (2 overs)
Luuk Kroesen and Roel Verhagen open for Excelsior, while HCC, in the absence of Bijloos, start with Overdijks from both ends.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  15:42
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 27-1 (11 overs)
Maiden from Borren for the tenth, looking genuinely threatening, but it’s Raja that finds the real chance , but drops de Leede off his own bowling. Has a huge shout for LBW two balls later but fails even to convince his own team-mates. Still Borren at the other end.

 Punjab vs Sparta 1888  15:37
Sparta : 243 all out (46 overs)
Punjab 62-1 (9 overs)
Stef Myburgh, doing what he does, has raced to 37, despite having lost Rehmat Zulfiqar.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   15:29
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 6-3 (? overs)
Another for Geenevasen, as De Kok also goes for a big hit and skies the ball to midwicket. And then a third, as VOC seem to have little interest in prolonging this any longer than necessary.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  15:25
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
VCC : 17-1 (7 overs)
Gunning finds the first breakthrough here, pinning Razzaqi in front with the first ball for the 7th. De Leede in at 3 and a wicket maiden. Borren takes over at the other end.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  15:23
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
Voorburg: 16-0 (5 overs)
A largely uneventful start as Pieterse and Razzaqi open the Voorburg reply.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   15:20
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
VOC 0-1 (1.3 overs)
Rohan Malik attempts to plant Geenevasen’s first two deliveries onto the road (which is the other side of a car park), but fails to make contact. The third is a yorker, and stumps go flying.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   15:01
HCC 171-9 (50 overs)
That is a VERY useful last-wicket partnership, Overdijk minor and Klaus adding 30 precious runs. Rens van Troost finishes with three for 25, but it’s HCC who will probably enjoy their late lunch more.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   14:48
HCC 150-9 (46 overs)
Jan Wieger Overdijk and Olivier Klaus, HCC’s final pair, are eking out a few precious runs, getting their side past the psychologically important 150 mark. Only ACC have made more against their attack this season.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   14:37
HCC 144-9 (43 overs)
Rens van Troost returns to trap Patel in front for 29.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   14:34
HBS 251-9 (50 overs)
That’s a pretty good effort by HBS, and one which will require VOC to discover a level of batting they have yet to show this season.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   14:29
HCC 140-8 (42 overs)
Lagas falls to Baker, and another catch for Ingram, without scoring. Jan Wieger Overdijk joins Patel.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   14:27
HBS 239-9 (48.? overs)
And De Mey’s fine innings is ended by Ahsan Malik on 92.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   14:25
HCC 139-7 (41 overs)
A run-out means the end for Overdijk for 19, and Laurens Lagas joins Patel, who’s now on 28.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   14:20
HBS 231-8 (?? overs)
Boddendijk goes for 15, caught off Bobby Hanif, but De Mey’s still there, joined now by Ferdi Vink.

 Punjab vs Sparta 1888  14:18
Sparta : 243 all out (46 overs)
Van Wyk went for 113 in the end, with Ali Raza contributing 31 and Teja Nidamanuru taking three for 43. Will that be enough to test Punjab’s batsmen?

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  14:13
VRA : 159 all out (49.1 overs)
Exactly 20 overs since the last boundary and Lees picks up four with a thick outside edge past the keeper, then shanks another over gully for four more. Looping top edge in the same direction brings one to keep the strike, but can only cut Kingma out to deep point for one. Raja gets him back on dropping the ball down behind point, late cut brings a couple, and they sneak another leg bye on the next. Raja’s run out on the next ball looking for a mad single, but a tactically astute on in the circumstances to leave Lees on strike fore the last ball, and he finds the single, but can’t take advantage. He chops Ahmed onto his stumps to bring the innings to a close.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   14:09
HBS 218-7 (44 overs)
De Mey on 83 now, ably supported by Boddendijk on 15.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  14:03
VRA : 143-8 (47 overs)
Kingma returns for the 47th, Lees flashes at a couple and finally makes contact on the third, but just the single. Three more of them in the over, not had a boundary since the 29th. Ahmed back at the other end.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   14:02
HCC 117-6 (35 overs)
Overdijk has smacked a couple of sixes, and in company with Patel he’s busy generating a total that he and the rest of HCC’s formidable attack can bowl at.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   13:56
HBS 193-7 (41 overs)
Our little birds are at sixes and sevens, but Manminder Singh has been and gone, and NOW it’s Boddendijk with De Mey, who’s on 70.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  13:53
VRA : 134-8 (45 overs)
Lees and Raja just looking to pick off what runs they can, no pace on the ball with Boissevain and Razzaqi still keeping things quiet.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   13:40
HBS 176-6 (?? overs)
A little confusion about the total, but what is certain is that Scholte is on his way, run out. De Mey has moved on to 67, and has been joined by Boddendijk.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  13:43
VRA : 124-8 (41 overs)
Another drop as Gunning lofts one up over mid on who’s too late picking it up and sees it drop over his shoulder. He doesn’t ride his luck long though, top edge on the pull comes down for Kingma in the circle and makes no mistake. Lees in to join Nashier, who looks to get after Boissevain. Misses a slog sweep and pinned in front. Raja in, VRA in freefall again.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   13:40
HBS 184-5 (38 overs)
Coster departs, Rutgers’ third catch of the innings, to be succeeded by Martijn Scholte.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  13:38
VRA : 122-6 (39 overs)
Spin at both ends now, Razzaqi and Boissevain operating in tandem. Rasool gifted a full toss from Boissevain and returns the favour by gifting him a wicket, spooned up to mid off for a simple catch. Gunning in.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   13:33
HCC 92-6 (27.5 overs)
A spirited little cameo from Floyd, who tries to get some momentum into the innings with a 20-ball 21, but then he hits a return catch to Akilesh Arun, on for his first bowl. Yash Patel joins a curiously-subdued Overdijk.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   13:29
HBS 155-4 (35 overs)
De Mey on 56 now, and he’s been joined by Wessel Coster.

 Punjab vs Sparta 1888  13:28
Sparta : 180-7 (34 overs)
Aha! A solo effort from Lenert van Wyk, who is on 100 not out, his first Topklasse century for Sparta.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  13:24
VRA : 116-5 (36 overs)
Drinks again here, Nashier and Rasool grinding their way through the middle overs, fairly disciplined from them thus far but a competitive score is a ways away yet.

 Punjab vs Sparta 1888  13:18
Sparta : ???-? (?? overs)
At the Zomercomplex, regrettably, no bird sings, and we have no news of what’s going on there.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   13:15

HBS 148-4 (32 overs)
We no longer have vision from Craeyenhout, but a little bird tells us that Ahmed has gone, run out.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  13:09
VRA : 105-5 (32 overs)
Dutt from the other end now, couple off it, and a change of ends for de Leede too, from the Mulders end now. Rasool brings up the 100 for the hosts working it square off the hip, good running there. And again, stealing two just bunting into the on side. Long way to go still though.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   13:08
HCC 71-5 (23 overs)
And another one goes at De Diepput, too, with Vecchi caught by Ingram off Van Troost. Clayton Floyd joins Overdijk with HCC in a spot of bother.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   13:04
HBS 141-3 (30 overs)
Both batsmen have now passed fifty, first Singh with a lusty blow over midwicket for six, then De Mey with a lofted drive over mid-on for four. The stand is now assuming very significant proportions indeed. And as I write that Schoonheim gets the much-needed breakthrough, Schoonheim removing Singh LBW for a very well-made 67. Adil Ahmed in at five.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   12:53
HCC 68-4 (20 overs)
Ingram gets Gorlee, caught by Etman for 3. Hidde Overdijk in at six.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  12:53
VRA : 87-5 (28 overs)
Kingma’s pace looks to be troubling Szwarczynski somewhat, but it’s Boissevain that gets him, feather edge through to the keeper and he doesn’t wait for the finger. Rasool in at six. And Kingma strikes at the other end, Borren looked to be trying to leave that but if so he doesn’t quite get the bat up in time, faint contact and another catch for Nota behind the stumps. Nashier joins Rasool and sees out the over. Boissevain to continue.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   12:46
HBS 113-2 (25 overs)
Singh and De Mey bring up a very impressive century partnership, now on 47 and 43 respectively. A very sensible mix of watchful defence and controlled aggression.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   12:42
HCC 56-3 (17 overs)
A big turnaround at De Diepput, where Umar Baker removes Ahmad, caught by Lorenzo Ingram for 13. And one brings two, as in Rens van Troost’s next over Crowley follows, caught by Sanjit Shankar for 15. Boris Gorlee and Felix Vecchi at the crease now.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  12:40
VRA : 86-3 (25 overs)
Borren finally takes the knee to Boissevain and slog-sweeps over midwicket for four, the next is dropped short and pulled away in the same direction. Szwarczynski back in the boundaries too next over, driving Dutt through extra to the rope. Good running brings six off Boissevain’s next. Kingma returns..

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  12:30
VRA : 66-3 (22 overs)
Boissevain after the break, just a couple off it. Dutt continues at the other end, tidy from him too as Szwarczynski blocks out another maiden. Nothing cross-batted from this pair as yet, but Borren less than circumspect on the first ball of the 22nd, well down the wicket and inside-edging across the stumps for a couple. Slow progress otherwise.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   12:24
HBS 72-2 (19 overs)
And now we CAN bring you the information that it’s Navjit Singh and Julian de Mey who are rebuilding for HBS, now on 30 and 25 respectively as young Siebe van Wingerden replaces Schoonheim from the Scoreboard End.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   12:18
HCC: 44-1 (14 overs)
Ahmad was becalmed on 2 for quite a while, but he’s now doubled that. Crowley’s doing most of the attacking, with three boundaries in his 14.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  11:44
VRA : 58-3 (18 overs)
Borren and Szwarczynski still rebuilding, de Leede and Dutt still for VCC. Drinks now with the score at 58-3, Szwarczynski on 25*, Borren 4*.

 Punjab vs Sparta 1888  12:06
Sparta : 105-1 (14 overs)
Sparta off at a gallop at the Zomercomplex, with Lenert van Wyk just reaching his fifty.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  11:59
VRA : 44-3 (14 overs)
Szwarczynski and Borren digging in now, de Leede turns to spin with Aryan Dutt brought into the attack. Just one from his first.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   12:00
HBS ??-2 (?? overs)
First bowling changes at Craeyenhout, Arnav Jain and Jelte Schoonheim replacing Bobby Hanif and Ahsan Malik. Unfortunately, we can’t really tell you anything else.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   11:56
HCC: 19-1 (5.2 overs)
But Heggelman gets Staal, caught by Rens van Troost for 15. Damian Crowley in at three.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   11:53
HCC: 18-0 (5 overs)
A steady start by HCC, Staal dominating the strike, Ahmad having faced just two deliveries in the first 30.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  11:44
VRA : 29-3 (9 overs)
Bas de Leede takes over from Kingma at the City End, another big shout on Cooper for LBW first up but looked to be sliding down. Two balls later and he’s gone though, short and that looked to be into the ribs, Cooper looks to evade but it’s somehow ended up clattering into the stumps. Off the glove maybe? Something of a freak dismissal that but they all count. Borren in and VRA in trouble again.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   11:36
HCC: 2-0 (1 over)
They’re under way at De Diepput, with Niels Etman opening up to Musa Nadeem Ahmad and Tonny Staal. A single apiece of his first over, and Tom Heggelman is on at the other end.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  11:29
VRA : 24-2 (6 overs)
Szwarczynski and Cooper counter-attacking, the former cutting Ahmed away for a hard-run three and the latter whipping the next ball off his pads over backward sqaure for four. Kingma no-balled in the next, Cooper misses out on the free hit, but gets his boundary on the last ball with a lofted drive over midwicket. Ahmed calms things down in the sixth though as Szwarczynski blocks out a maiden.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   11:25
HBS 13-2 (? overs)
Reece Mason gone as well, caught by Corey Rutgers.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  11:17
VRA : 4-2 (3 overs)
It’s certainly doing a bit out there, Kingma beats Turmaine’s edge a couple of times and then brings one back into the top of off. Cooper in and a huge shout for LBW on his first ball, no joy but the hosts maybe thinking twice about batting first now.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   11:16
HBS 12-1 (? overs)
An early wicket at Craeyenhout as well, and it’s the crucial one of Tobias Visée!

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  11:10
VRA : 1-1 (2 overs)
Early breakthrough here, Ali Ahmed strikes with his third ball to clip the bail off the top of Singh’s off stump. Turmaine in at three to join Szwarczynski. Wicket maiden, Kingma at the other end.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   11:05
But they’re now good to go at De Diepput, Tonny Staal winning the toss and electing to bat. The start is scheduled for 11:25.

 Punjab vs Sparta 1888  10:47
Suleiman Tariq has won the toss for Punjab, and invited the opposition to have a bat.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs VOC   10:36
At Craeyenhout the home side are also batting first, although we’re not sure whether that’s by choice.

 HCC vs Excelsior ‘20   10:35
There’s a delayed toss at De Diepput, the result of a hole in the cover, it seems.

 VRA vs Voorburg CC  10:35
And word from the middle here is that the hosts have won the toss and will be batting first.

And back we indeed are, with news of four matches to bring you today. Bertus will be in his accustomed chair in the Amsterdamse Bos, Sander and his camera will be at De Diepput, and I’m here in Sydney gazing across the miles and trying to demonstrate that there’s nothing wrong with scorecard journalism. And deeply grateful to all those without whom We Would Know Nothing. News of various tosses as we get it. Them?

 Bertus de Jong  18:40
That’s it from us today. A much-improved showing with the bat from Dosti but still no points for them, Chris Knoll’s maiden century put the game beyond them. We’ll be back tomorrow for the rest of the round, do join us then.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  18:29

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 239 all out (49.4 overs)
Just three off van Vliet’s last, and just going through the motions now. Raza to bowl the last. Rajiv facing, wides and a misfield give them three more and then a laughable run-out closes the game, chopped down and bounces over the keeper, they look for the single and could have had it if Rajiv had run his bat in or Mulready had missed the stumps at the bowler’s end. He didn’t, and that’s that.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  18:21

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 233-9 (48 overs)
The slide is on, a solid catch from Ramesh on the straight rope and an excellent backtracking take from McInerney at extra cover sees Raza claim two more. Rajiv and Hoseinbaks last pair, van Vliet with the ball for the 49th.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  18:17

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 232-7 (47 overs)
Well they’re belatedly having a crack, but it does them no good. Van Vliet safe hands at deep midwicket sees Arya claim his fourth. Hosienbaks gone. Bhagavathy in.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  18:14

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 226-6 (46 overs)
And a wicket, big top edge off Arya in the next comes down for Ramesh at point and Ravichandran goes. Dosti six down.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  18:06

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 218-5 (44 overs)
Ramesh drops one off his own bowling in his next, admittedly a tough chance, but Ravichandran makes him pay for it. Straight flat six to bring up 200 followed by two mows over midwicket each sailing over the rope. Cuts one square to keep strike on the last.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  18:00

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 191-5 (42 overs)
Hans commendably looking to liven things up, puts Arya over the midwicket rope through the hands of the fielder, but gone next ball nicking behind. Ramesh has two put down off his next over, ACC seem to be keen to hang around for the full fifty.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  17:36

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 165-4 (38 overs)
Mahesh Hans brings up his half century with a push down the ground off Ramesh, asking rate into double figures now though. The game turning into something of a net session really.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  17:21

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 135-4 (33 overs)
Grandia looks to inject some urgency, cutting Kothari away for a hard-run three and then advancing down the track before whipping the next off his pads for four through square, but he fall victim to Potday in the next, feather edge and caught behind at second attempt. Raji in and Ramesh now from the city end.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  17:06

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 119-3 (28 overs)
Dosti have rather gone into their shell since Ghori’s departure. Kothari still from the city end but Grandia and Hans happy just to work the ball around. Asking rate getting rapidly out of hand.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  16:56

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 107-3 (25 overs)
Ghori brings up his fifty and then is out next ball, caught in the slips of McInerney by Ramesh. ACC needed that wicket. Grandia in, yet to lay bat on ball.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  16:53

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 105-2 (24 overs)
Kothari into the attack now from the city end, thick outside edge brings up the hundred for Dosti, this partnership is becoming a bit of a problem for the hosts now. Ghori lifts one over midwicket for four more, one a way from fifty now.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  16:27

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 77-2 (18 overs)
McInerney into the attack, but Ghori and Hans look untroubled, both in the 20s now. Raza still from the other end.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  16:20

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 65-2 (15 overs)
Raza into the attack, drops short and Ghori sends the square leg umpire diving for cover. Kumar still at the other, but like most of the ACC bowlers he’s looking erratic. 12 wides so far in the innings keeping Dosti in the game. Thick outside edge over backward point for four doesn’t hurt either.

  ☀ Weather Update ☀   14:02
The Sun has thoroughly burned off the flimsy cloud cover now, and it is horrifically hot again.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  16:00

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 47-2 (10 overs)
Ghori still happy to chance his arm, steps out at Arya to lift him over mid off again. Kumar replaces van Vleit at the Amstel end, low full toss to start is flicked away square for four by Ghori. SHort and wide on the third and it’s cut up just inches over the man at point. But Arya strikes in the next, twice beating Dhaduti’s bat before bringing one into his pads and good enough for the umpire. Hans in and beaten outside off first up.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  15:46

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 31-1 (6 overs)
Still very hot and muggy here. Ghori looks to be struggling with cramp out there already.Van Vliet has looked threatening but erratic, and Dhaduti pounces on a half-volley to dump him over the midwicket rope. Ghori whips out a lovely-lofted drive in the next to take four off Arya, who then beats the outside edge twice in a row. Very back-and-forth stuff out there.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  15:38
ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 20-1 (4 overs)
First wicket down in the third over, short ball from van Vliet rushes Masood a little on the pull and the top edge falls to midwicket, who makes no mistake. Dhaduti in. Just one off Arya’s next.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  15:30
ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Dosti : 14-0 (2 overs)
And we’re back. Ghori and Masood for Dosti, van VLiet with the new ball. Big shout first up as Ghori looks to flick one off his pads but might have been going down. Masood opens his account with a lofted four over mid on, and then van Vliet spears one down leg for five wides. Good start for Dosti, Arya from the other end and threatens Ghori’s edge a couple of times before finding it, but eludes slip and runs away for three.

 Bertus de Jong  14:45
So another stiff total for Dosti to chase, McInerney and Knoll’s 186-run partnership supplying the bulk of it. Lunch now, join us again in 40 minutes or so.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  14:40

ACC : 291-8 (50 overs)
Kumar holes out off Masood in the 49th for a handy 30, and van Vliet’s eager running finally catches up to him as he’s run out in the last. Ter Boekhorst joins Arya and gets him the strike, Arya drives Hans straight for a couple and then lifts him over mid on for a couple more. Single to extra and then good running for two more off the last.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  14:34

ACC : 272-6 (48 overs)
Van Vliet has been busy at the crease and pushing for twos, but Hans and Hosainbaks are doing a good job keeping things in check at the death.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  14:24

ACC : 263-5 (46 overs)
Another gone as Masood gifts Mulready a wide full toss on the first ball of the 46th which he can only cut up and into the hands of deep point. Van Vliet in and runs still coming as Kumar hooks him round behind square for four and the cuts the next behind point for four more.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  14:15

ACC : 243-5 (44 overs)
Knoll punches Masood out to long off and jogs the single, huge cheers from the clubhouse for his maiden Topklasse ton. Ramesh slogs over midwicket for six more. Home crowd is loving it. Hans still at the other end and Knoll steps into the first ball of the 44th, and that’s a long way back over long on. Gets away with one on the next ball as Grandia is far too slow coming in off the long on rope, no such luck for Ramesh though, who holes out at deep extra cover next ball. Knoll follows him, a rather tired looking lofted drive doesn’t quite clear the man on the rope and he goes for 107, looking almost relieved to get out of the heat. Kumar survives the hattrick ball, he’s in with Mulready now.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  14:04

ACC : 220-3 (42 overs)
And finally a breakthrough! McInerney down on one knee looking to ramp Hans but only manages to loft it to Dhaduti at fine leg. He goes for 80, 186 was the partnership. Ramesh Babu in at five, Knoll still there on 97*.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  13:54

ACC : 208-2 (40 overs)
McInerney and Knoll still for ACC, the latter looking to accelerate now. Puts Grandia over the scoreboard, then brings up the 200 for the hosts next over with an absolute monster into the nets off Hans.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  13:25

ACC : 146-2 (35 overs)
They’re taking a drink at Het Loopveld, with the century stand passed and both batsmen with half-centuries, 51 at this stage for McInerney and 58 for Knoll. Things are looking pretty bleak from a Dosti point of view.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  13:10

ACC : 127-2 (31.? overs)
Knoll’s decided that the time has come to go onto the attack, and not only does he overtake McInerney, but he reaches his fifty with a six over long on. That’s his maiden Topklasse half-century. His partner’s on 42.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  12:57

ACC : 101-2 (28 overs)
Hundred up now, and the partnership is becoming a real problem for Dosti. McInerney has moved on to 36, with Knoll on 31.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  12:42

ACC : 84-2 (25 overs)
The progress isn’t dramatic, but it is creating a solid platform for ACC. McInerney on 31 now, Knoll on 20.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  12:35

ACC : 76-2 (22 overs)
McInerney now on 28, Knoll on 16. After a promising start, Dosti are in serious need of a wicket.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  12:18

ACC : 63-2 (18 overs)
McInerney and Knoll making steady progress, on 23 and 10 respectively.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  11:39
ACC : 33-2 (9 overs)
Another one gone, Shreyas Potdar caught by Ravichandran off (can it be true?) Victor Grandia, but McInerney is still there, on 8, and is joined now by Chris Knoll.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  11:20
ACC : 21-1 (3.? overs)
And a breakthrough for Dosti as Kothari goes for 7, caught by Ravichandran (we think) off the bowling of Waheed Masood.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  11:13

ACC : 19-0 (3 overs)
Charles McInerney and Sahil Kothari open for ACC, and they make a pretty confident start.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  10:42
ACC : ( overs)
Some team news as well from the ACC camp: Areeb Shoaib has been injured during the warm-up, and will be replaced by Beau de Boekhorst.

  Dosti-United vs ACC  10:39
ACC : ( overs)
And the carrier-pigeon arrives from ‘t Loopveld to inform us that ACC have won the toss and elected to bat.

 Rod Lyall  10:25
Good Morning/afternoon/evening everyone, and welcome to our (hopefully) live coverage of the rearranged match between Dosti-United and ACC, shifted to Het Loopveld and brought forward to Saturday because of Dosti’s continuing difficulties over their home ground. News of the toss ere long, we trust.
