Another absorbing day’s cricket, with the top of the table again being reshuffled at the end of it. The rain stayed way enough to produce five results, and we had centuries from Ben Cooper (VRA) and Garnett Tarr (Sparta). Excelsior had the most convincing win, and are rewarded by moving to the head of the table on net run rate (or, if you prefer, by virtue of having beaten HBS on Saturday). After two final-over games in three days, there may be a distinct shortage of finger-nails at Craeyenhout. One more round to the half-way mark, so we look forward to bringing you next Saturday’s action – let’s hope it’s as gripping as today’s!

Voorburg vs VRA 19:08
VRA : 189 all out (50 overs)
VCC: 143-2 (26.1 overs)
While that was happening, Noah Croes and Nic Smit were seeing their side through to an eight-wicket victory which was clearly on the cards even before the break for rain.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 19:02
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 205-8 (50 overs)
“Just one dot from you!” is the call to Coster at the top of his run up. He does better than that. Full, fast and straight, into the pads. Stone dead. Saqib out for 61 and HBS hold on for a 2 run win.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 19:01
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 205-7 (49.5 overs)
Dot first up, Barends down the track but Coster thinks better of a shy at the stumps after gathering in his follow through. The next is pushed into the off side and they look to get back for the second but Barends is short. Run out but he’s got Saqib back on strike. Kumar in and inside edge fine gives two, out to midwicket for one and four needed off the last two. Flicked fine for one by Kumar and Saqib needs three off the last.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 18:54
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 200-6 (49 overs)
Nerves creeping in, overthrows and misfields see them to 191 by the start of the 49th, which will be bowled by Gibson. Dot first up but the next is whipped around fine by Saqib for four and his fifty. Just singles off the next two and a hard run two. Single to finish and ACC ahead of par for the first time heading into the last over. Eight needed from it, Coster to bowl it, Saqib on strike.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 18:44
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)

ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 18:34
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 166-6 (44 overs)
And a much needed wicket here, Zulfiqar and Mulready had got them up at par as the skies continue to darken, but Singh gets the breakthrough as Mulready tries one shot too many and is caught by De Mey, who anticipates well coming round on the square boundary to take the catch head high on the rope. Barends in.
Sparta 1888 vs Quick Haag 18:36
Quick : 199-8 (50 overs)

Dosti : 151-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 130-0 (31 overs)
Excelsior are closing in on their target, with Etman on 58 and Verhagen on 54. 12 needed now off 15 overs.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 18:22
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 143-5 (41 overs)
Young Mulready hits the ground running, seems to have a knack for chipping the ball just high enough to tantalise the HBS fielders as they hurl themselves full length after it only to see it evade their fingertips. Zulfiqar’s found a change of gear too and the rate is ticking up. They’ve closed the DLS deficit to ten runs as the first rumbles of thunder are heard.
Voorburg vs VRA 18:21
VRA : 189 all out (50 overs)
VCC: 89-2 (18 overs)
There will be a resumption at Westvliet at 18:30, with a revised target of 142 from 33 overs.

HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 124-5 (38 overs)
Raza’s been looking to hit out but hasn’t found the rope since that big over off Barresi, looks to target Navjit Singh but chips one to mid off where Barresi himself is waiting and looks entirely delighted to take the catch. Mulready in.

Play has resumed, with Verhagen now on 45 and Etman on 34. Tewarie brings Waheed Masood into the attack, but Dosti are on the ropes here.

ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 17:52
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 107-4 (35 overs)
Rain looks to be staying away, but the outfield is still wet. Slips out of Westdijk’s hand and a beamer that beats everyone is the result, five no balls and then Saqib lofts the free hit out high over long on for four more. 101 to get off the last 15 overs.
Excelsior vs Dosti 17:52
Dosti : 151-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 89-0 (22 overs)
The rain has gone at Thurlede, and they’ll be starting again at 18:00. The match has been reduced to 46 overs, with a revised target of 142.

VOC Rotterdam vs HCC 17:40
VOC : 198-9 (50 overs)
HCC 134-2 (28 overs)
A half-century for skipper Tonny Staal as HCC appear to be pretty much in command at the Hazelaarweg.
Sparta 1888 vs Quick Haag 17:38
Quick : 199-8 (50 overs)
Sparta 112-2 (30 overs)
Garnett Tarr has his side well in front at the Bermweg, and has moved onto 69. Sparta are 23 ahead on DLS at this stage.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 17:34
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 85-4 (31 overs)
Some 30 behind on DLS, Raza seems to sense the urgency of the situation, depositing Wesley Barresi over cow for six, and then taking a further two boundaries off the over, the second a particularly fine looking straight drive. Still a lot of work ahead for this pair though. .
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 17:17
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 66-4 (26.2 overs)
And indeed we may not even reach the rain, brainless run-out here does for Rasool and the hosts in real trouble. Two new bats in the middle as Raza joins his captain .
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 17:15
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 66-3 (26 overs)
Three for Gibson, Sikander loses his off stump. Replaced by Saqib. ACC now 25 off the pace according to DLS, though the radar is suddenly more promising.
Voorburg vs VRA 17:16
VRA : 189 all out (50 overs)
VCC: 89-2 (18 overs)
Rain interrupts the Voorburg chase, with two overs required for a valid result. I reckon Voorburg are well ahead on DLS at the moment, but they’ll need to get back out at some stage.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 17:03
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 55-2 (23 overs)
We have a game, and indeed may get a full one as the rain seems to be staying away. ACC still off the pace here and HBS containing well, almost 20 behind DLS par, but plenty of wickets in hand and looks like we’ve a few more overs to play.
Voorburg vs VRA 17:05
VRA : 189 all out (50 overs)
VCC: 70-2 (14 overs)
Tom de Grooth is caught behind for 38.
Excelsior vs Dosti 16:45
Dosti : 151-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 89-0 (22 overs)
The rain duly arrives in Schiedam, with Excelsior very favourably placed on DLS – by my unofficial count they’re currently 50 ahead.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 16:36
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 36-2 (14 overs)
And we’re back, Coster resumes from the other end, big shout for LBW on Rehmat as a full toss hits him on the knee roll, turned down. Coster makes sure next ball though, clean bowled and you don’t have to appeal too hard for those today. Sikander in.
Voorburg vs VRA 16:38
VRA : 189 all out (50 overs)

To Dosti’s enormous credit, they’ve got 19 overs in before the first drinks break – no hanging about waiting for the rain to arrive. Roel Verhagen’s now on 36, Tim Etman on 30.
Sparta 1888 vs Quick Haag 16:28
Quick : 199-8 (50 overs)
Sparta 45-2 (10 overs)
Despite those early wickets Sparta are up with DLS at the 10-over mark, thanks to a brisk 25 not out from Garnett Tarr.
Voorburg vs VRA 16:24
VRA : 172-7 (43 overs)
VCC: 19-0 (5 overs)
Voorburg also make a steady start, and it’s the sort of afternoon where everybody will have one eye on the DLS printout and the other on the weather radar.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 16:13
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 34-1 (13. overs)
And the rain is here, but doesn’t look to be lasting long. The players have scurried off but the umpires are already striding back out, drier now than what they’ve been playing in all innings.
Excelsior vs Dosti 16:12
Dosti : 151-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 61-0 (12 overs)
Etman and Verhagen are steaming along now: Tewarie has already tried five bowlers in his quest for a wicket, but they’re on 24 each and apparently intent on an early finish.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 16:02
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 32-1 (12 overs)
First bowling change as Gibson replaces Coster, and immediate result as Marais chases a wide one and feathers through to Visee. Rasool in and spoons one up ovver long on, they run back and forth but will only get one for it, one short is the call. 54 now the target after 20 now assuming now more wickets, still just drizzling slightly
Sparta 1888 vs Quick Haag 16:01
Quick : 199-8 (50 overs)

Voorburg vs VRA 15:49

Excelsior vs Dosti 15:47
Dosti : 151-9 (50 overs)

ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 15:33
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 17-0 (6 overs)
And they might have had one there, Marais with a leading edge off Coster that’s spilled at mid on diving forward. Still just spitting here, looks like they’ll be playing through for the time being at least.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 15:28
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 11-0 (5 overs)
First drops of rain here now with ACC at 11 without loss after five overs. they would need to be on 46 at 20 overs for the win assuming no wickets fall, add another 8 or so runs per wicket for the first few that may or may not go down.
Excelsior vs Dosti 15:26
Dosti : 151-9 (50 overs)
Excelsior: 3-0 (1 over)
The second innings is under way at Thurlede, Davids opening to Tim Etman and Roel Verhagen. 3 runs off the first over, with Kohli starting from the other end.
Sparta 1888 vs Quick Haag 15:25
Quick : 199-8 (50 overs)
Sparta
The rain has passed in Capelle, and they’re looking at a 15:35 start. Still 50 overs, and the target still 200.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 15:13
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
ACC : 6-0 (1 over)
Weather looking ominous here too of a sudden, but we’ll have some play before what looks an inevitable interruption. Marais and Rehmat opening for ACC, Westdijk takes the first over. Marais slaps a wide one in front of point for a couple second ball, wide single and Wesdijk beats Rehmat outside off final ball. Otherwise uneventful. Coster from the other end.
Rod Lyall 15:00
The threatened rain seems to be moving in from the south: the covers are on in Capelle and Rotterdam, and Voorburg may be next in line. There’s a band of rain now, and another in a couple of hours, so we may be in for a frustrating afternoon.
Sparta 1888 vs Quick Haag 14:40
Quick : 199-8 (50 overs)
Aaaaargh!!! The alarming news from Capelle a/d IJssel is that it has started raining during the innings break.
Excelsior vs Dosti 14:27
Dosti : 151-9 (50 overs)
A fighting unbeaten 48 from Anees Davids enables Dosti to get past 150 – just! It’s unlikely to be enough, one suspects, but it’s given the Dosti attack something to bowl at.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 14:26
HBS : 207-8 (50 overs)
Barends takes Gomes’ poles as he looks to swing hard across the line, gone for a largely unsupported 81. Coster joins De Mey and all singles for the rest. Barends finishes with 1-24 from his ten. Sikander takes the ball for the final over, starts with a wide and is then put back over his head for four by Coster. Bags a wicket two balls later as De Mey skies a pull, held by Saqib. They’ve crossed though and back on strike Coster bags a hard-run two and then thumps the next over long on for six. Dies by the sword on the final ball though, caught Saqib again, but a more than handy 15 off 6 to get them to 207-8. Well clear of par here you’d say..
Sparta 1888 vs Quick Haag 14:23

Voorburg vs VRA 14:08

Waheed Masood is trapped in front by Umar Baker, and the Dosti decline continues. Davids is still there on 30, though.

HBS : 171-6 (45 overs)
Barends is back, with Saqib operating at the other end ACC keeping a lid on things as we head toward the death, a wicket or two here could forestall a big finish. And as I write one arrives, Singh down the track to Saqib, swing and an miss and stumped. Gibson joins Gomes, who’s on 69* And Gibson goes. Pushes one to mid off and jogs after it down the track, and can keep jogging to the pavilion. Run out by a country mile as Gomes rightly refuses to budge. Double wicket maiden for the 45th, De Mey in.

ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 12:17
HBS : 74-2 (18 overs)
Drinks here at het Loopveld and welcome relief for ACC, who had started to leak rapid runs. We learn that Vikram Singh was the first to go at Westvliet, followed by Leon Turmaine. Szwarczynski and Cooper are currently lending some much-needed solidity to the VRA innings.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 11:52
HBS : 44-1 (13 overs)
Gomes and Elkin have settled into their task, and double bowling change as Raza relieves Arya, and then Sikander Zulfiqar takes over from Barends at the Amsel end. Doesn’t look to be unduly troubled by the side strain he had been carrying, but not alarming the batsmen either.
VOC Rotterdam vs HCC 11:46
VOC : 35-2 (10.2 overs)
Sebastiaan van Lent is dismissed for 6. How and by whom, we wot not.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 11:35
HBS : 37-1 (9 overs)
Things have calmed down rather here after Visée’s departure, as they usually do. Still Barends and Arya, Gomes and Elkin watchful, though the latter does punish Arya when he drops short, pulling him away behind square for four. Barends gives up a free hit in the 9th but Elkin can’t get bat on the bouncer.

A direct hit by Niels Etman accounts for Ghori, and Dosti are in real trouble.

A huge wicket for Excelsior, as Tom Heggelman bowls Kohli for 8. Shahdab Ghori joins Bali at the crease.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 11:22
HBS : 25-0 (5.1 overs)
BUt Arya has his revenge on the first ball of the sixth, top edge comes down for Raza at short midwicket and no mistake. Visée gone for 18, Gomes in at 3.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 11:21
HBS : 25-0 (5 overs)
Quick correction here, it is in fact Divanshu Arya sharing the new ball with Barends, though he’s not having the best time of it, Visée hits him for consecutive sixes over midwicket, as is his wont. Elkin comparatively becalmed at the other end as Barends gives up just a single from the fifth.
Sparta 1888 vs Quick Haag 11:19
Quick : 11-2 (4 overs)
Quick in early trouble at the Bermweg, with Andrew Fletcher removing first Jay Bista, caught behind by Buurman, and then trapping Abhinav Gill in front.
☀ Weather Update ☀ 11:12

Excelsior vs Dosti 11:16
Dosti : 12-1 (3 overs)
A wicket in the first over at Thurlede as well: Rahil Ahmed caught behind by Verhagen off Parchment’s fifth delivery. Taruwar Kohli in early again, joining debutant Abhinav Bali.
Sparta 1888 vs Quick Haag 11:13
Quick : 9-0 (2 overs)
Hayden Brain has been promoted to an opening slot as Quick look for a more solid batting line-up. He and Bista weather the first couple of overs, bowled by Bukhari and Fletcher.
Voorburg vs VRA 11:10
VRA : 1-1 (1 over)
A wicket for Viv Kingma in the opening over at Westvliet, but the carrier pigeon failed to inform us of the identity of the victim.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 11:05
HBS : 2-0 (1 over)
And we’re underway here at het Loopveld under surprisingly sunny skies. Brady Barends opens with a wide, then a leg bye, but no runs off the bat from the first over. Visée and Elkin opening for HBS. Arjan Kumar to share the new ball.
ACC vs HBS Craeyenhout 10:49
And at Het Loopveld ACC have won the toss and elected to field.
Sparta 1888 vs Quick Haag 10:45

Vinoo Tewarie calls correctly at Thurlede, and also decides to bat first.

Good morning/afternoon/evening once again, and welcome to TKcricket’s Pentecostal live coverage. There will be a switch of roles today, with Bertus de Jong bringing you all the action from the big match of this eighth round, ACC taking on HBS at Het Loopveld in Amstelveen, while I’ll be gathering updates from the other four games. The sun is currently shining, and there’s a light cloud cover: we may get some rain later in the day, but it seems likely that all five matches will get underway on time. If you haven’t already read Bertus’s preview or my account of Saturday’s games, you can find them here https://tkcricket.com/2019/06/09/round-8-preview-2/ and here https://tkcricket.com/2019/06/09/the-contest-tightens-at-both-ends-of-the-table/.
