Rod Lyall 18:41
So in the end the weather completed a clean sweep. There’s going to have to be some serious rejigging of next weekend’s programme if all nine of the remaining games are to be squeezed in, and no doubt we’ll have news of that before too long. The only real features of the day were Tim Drummond’s maiden Topklasse century and Sparta’s fightback. We’ll have a review of the weekend, such as it was, and of course we’ll preview next weekend once we know what’s happening. Thanks for bearing with us during some very frustrating hours! For now, this is Rod Lyall saying goodbye from Tkcricket.
Sparta
19-0 (3.5 overs)
ACC
128 all out (39.3 overs)
There was a lot of rope hauling around the outfield, and the umpires went out to have a look. There was actually sunshine for a few minutes, but it seems the ground was just too wet and the match has been abandoned.
Sparta
19-0 (3.5 overs)
ACC
128 all out (39.3 overs)
And finally some good news: the work of removing the covers and assessing the damage has started at the Bermweg. There may be some more play after all!
Sparta
19-0 (3.5 overs)
ACC
128 all out (39.3 overs)
Given the match situation, they’re still hoping for a re-start at the Bermweg. There would presumably be a reduction in overs, and hence in the target, if the weather relented.
HCC

VOC

The weather has won at De Diepput as well: match abandoned.
Salland

Not really a surprise: the match at Het Schootsveld has been abandoned.

It is indeed raining as de Diepput, as we had feared. Chances of getting a game in receding rapidly.
Salland

HBS
239-4 (50 overs)
The Salland innings has certainly been delayed by rain in Deventer, so we’ll have a DLS situation if they’re able to get under way again.
Sparta
19-0 (3.5 overs)
ACC
128 all out (39.3 overs)
The rain has set in seriously now: covers on at the Bermweg, and we reckon play may have stopped everywhere.
Sparta
8-0 (2 overs)
ACC
128 all out (39.3 overs)
They’re back at the Bermweg, Hobson and Reddy bowling to Ferguson and Gagandeep. Steady start, until Ferguson cuts Reddy’s final ball powerfully through point for four.
HCC

VOC

And another for Jain as the HCC collapse continues, Gorlee caught for 21. Hidde Overdijk in to join Floyd with the hosts in all sorts of trouble.
HCC

VOC

Niaz into the attack and produces a double-strike in his second over, Vandiar caught Edwards for 3 and Patient Charumbira pinned LBW without scoring four balls later. Clayton Floyd joins Gorlee in the middle.

HBS
239-4 (50 overs)
HBS finish with 239 for four, Tim Drummond supplying the bulk of the runs with his maiden Topklasse century, 123 to his name. 240 will be the target for the hosts.

ACC

It only lasts another three deliveries, Mishra pushing Bashir tentatively into the covers, where Ferguson takes the catch. Precautionary covers come on for the innings break.

Another down at de Diepput where Felix Vecchi is stumped off Arnav Jain for a laboured 3 off 21. Vandiar in to join Gorlee.

ACC
128-9 (39 overs)
Four balls later Hans follows, bowled for 2. This has been a splendid fightback by Sparta after ACC were 98 for two. Devanshu Arya joins Mishra, but he’s beaten by a direct hit from Ferguson as they take a rather casual run. Joe Reddy the last man.
HCC

Jain and Hoornweg are keeping it tight at De Diepput, Vecchi and Gorlee having to fight for every run.

ACC

The rain break in Capelle was only momentary, Clark continuing from the Schollebos End and three coming from his over. ACC need to create some momentum again, but they don’t really have the wickets to do it. And the cause is not helped when Zaidi edges Snoep head-high to keeper Tarr. Arnav Mishra the new man.

HBS
165-3 (38 overs)
The news from Deventer is that Tim Drummond has posted a maiden Topklasse century as HBS build towards a reasonably challenging target.

HCC

VOC

VOC keep the umpires and batters waiting for what seems like an eternity before they eventually arrive in the middle. Even then there doesn’t seem to be any great sense of urgency as Arnav Jain prepares to bowl the first over to Felix Vecchi, opening today with Tonny Staal. He bowls a maiden from what we’ll call the Pavilion End, with Max Hoornweg starting from the Van Alkemadeweg End.

HBS

Barresi’s been dismissed at Het Schootsveld, and Lucas Del Bianco is in to join Drummond. We don’t know how many the opener has, but he must have a decent score.

ACC
107-5 (29.2 overs)
That’s a very big wicket for Sparta, as Potdar is run out looking for a tight second. He turned a Bashir delivery behind square, but was beaten back by Clark’s return, Tarr absolutely destroying the stumps. Ammar Zaidi in to join Anis Raza.

Hobson clips Bashir off his pads for four, but two balls later he reaches for one outside off and holes out to Gagandeep Singh at mid-on. He goes for 34, and Heino Kuhn joins Potdar, who’s on 35*. And lasts two balls, trapped in front by a full delivery! Sparta are fighting back!
Sparta

ACC
82-2 (22 overs)
A cracking cover drive from Potdar off Clark posts the second boundary, and with a two next ball he moves to 24*. He’s taken 47 deliveries, but it’s a hugely valuable innings for his side. Hobson, too, is starting to get going, although Clark hauls things back with a maiden over. Faisan Bashir on now from the Pavilion End, and his first delivery is pulled by Potdar for four in front of square. Later in the over Hobson adds another, as ACC begin to gather some momentum.

Some luck for Potdar, who cuts Clark to the left of Gargandeep Singh in the gully, but he can’t hold onto it. Runs remain at a premium for ACC, though, and if Sparta hadn’t been so prodigal with the wides they’d be well on top here.

First boundary of the morning (well, early afternoon), as Potdar lofts Bukhari a little streakily behind point; then a much more authentic drive through cover point earns him a couple more. Snoep continues from the Pavilion End, Hobson getting off the mark with a square cut for three. Clark from the Schollebos End, four more wides boosting the ACC total.

ACC
22-1 (8 overs)
It’s taken Potdar 18 deliveries to get off the mark, but he does so with a sweet drive through the covers for a couple off Snoep. Wides are comfortably the top scorer in these early stages, both Bukhari and Snoep spraying it around a good deal. It might have something to do with the run-ups, one suspects.

The news from De Diepput is that the soppers are out, as well as the leaf blower. There’s plenty of activity, but it’s unlikely they’ll get a start anytime soon.
Rod Lyall 10:23
Today’s matches at De Diepput and the Bermweg are crucial to the composition of the final four, especially after Punjab’s defeat by Voorburg yesterday. No doubt competition leader Bart Kroesen will have his fingers crossed that as the weather clears there will be a result of some kind in those games – otherwise next weekend will be a stinker!
Rod Lyall 10:20
Full marks to the umpires and players at ‘t Zomercomplex yesterday, who managed to get a result, and thanks to those who enabled us to bring you coverage despite the technical difficulties. We hope those have been resolved overnight – just a pity they couldn’t do anything about the weather!
Rod Lyall 10:15
And good morning (/afternoon/evening) once again, although ‘good’ is very much an aspiration rather than a description at the moment, with slow-moving rain hanging over the whole of the western part of the Netherlands. The best chance of play this morning is perhaps in Deventer, but you can be sure we’ll be here to keep you up to date with any action there is, wherever it is.
Bertus de Jong 19:32
That’s a mid-round wrap from us for today, little has changed really, VRA-Excelsior will be replayed on Saturday, though by then it’ll likely be entirely moot. Punjab have missed a chance to steal a march on the other contenders for the play-offs, but are far from out of the running. VCC are still at the top of the table, but then that was never in doubt. We’ll be back in the morning for the rest of the round, do join us then..

Bertus de Jong 11:12
I think it’s a little early to judge Singh’s captaincy, Dirk, though as mentioned in the preview, Borren was alway going to be tough to replace. Think the chief mistake was a lack of succession planning while Borren was still here. Would have liked to see Turmaine get a longer lead-in as skipper, personally, and Singh another season or two before being burdened with the captaincy, but the dressing room seams to have settled on him as leader so only fair to give him a chance to grow into the role now.
It is, from my view, very easy to see why VRA have lost so many games this season. They miss a real captain. Singh, alrhough a very good batsman is not a very good strategist or leader on the field. Your thoughts?

Good Morning all and welcome back, and indeed welcome back to the two of us too. Our apologies again for the interruption to normal service last week. And quite a dramatic week it was to skip too. Just the two matches today, with the rest of the round scheduled for tomorrow. VRA take on Excelsior here at the Bos, with the former safe and the latter needing one win to be sure of survival. Similarly Voorburg are already assured of the top spot, but Punjab will be looking to cemenet a claim on the second slot at the top. Hope to have some toss news for you in about half an hour, in the meanwhile here’s the preview.
