The Topklasse League Phase table after Round 13

 Rod Lyall  15:52
‘Untroubled’ would be a fair way of describing that HBS victory, but more significantly, they’ve not only opened up a three-point lead over their nearest rivals for a place in the play-offs, they’ve also improved their net run rate; only Punjab and HCC have superior NRRs at this stage. We hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage this weekend, and look forward to keeping you in the loop next week. In the meantime, stay safe!

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  15:41
Dosti : 128 all out (36.1 overs)
HBS : 131-1 (19.2 overs)
Back-to-back fours from De Mey finish it, and HBS cruise into second spot on the table. He ends with 47*, Walbrugh 20*.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  15:35
Dosti : 128 all out (36.1 overs)
HBS : 111-1 (18 overs)
De Mey goes after Hans, driving through mid-off for four and then pulling him wide of mid-on for six. Big over, and suddenly HBS need just 18.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  15:27
Dosti : 128 all out (36.1 overs)
HBS : 89-1 (16 overs)
Walbrugh promptly demonstrates his class, dispatching Naseri for a couple of crisp boundaries. De Mey on 25*, Walbrugh 14*.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  15:15
Dosti : 128 all out (36.1 overs)
HBS : 71-1 (12.3 overs)
The first Naseri comes on, and Visée’s eyes light up: a four and a two, and then he drives uppishly to extra cover, where Tewarie takes a superb catch, diving to his right, and he departs for 44. Tewarie’s side needed that! Although it does bring Walbrugh to the crease . . .

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  15:12
Dosti : 128 all out (36.1 overs)
HBS : 65-0 (12 overs)
A life for Visée as he skies Sayed to shortish, straightish mid-on, where the chance goes begging. Not a lot on offer for Dosti other than that, but Hoseinbaks in particular has put in a solid spell. That said, Visée ha now found his range, and the boundaries are starting to flow. Hans on from the Sportlaan End, but the runs keep coming, Visée on 38* now, De Mey on 22*.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  14:56
Dosti : 128 all out (36.1 overs)
HBS : 34-0 (7 overs)
Visée and De Mey aren’t doing anything silly, but when Hoseinbaks gives Visée a chance he puts him away over wide long on for six. Goes a long way, and takes a long time to come back. A reserve ball doesn’t seem to be an option. The delay runs to eight minutes, and finally umpire Van den Dries goes to have a look himself. And that solves the problem.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  14:34
Dosti : 128 all out (36.1 overs)
HBS : 14-0 (3 overs)
Four singles and a boundary for Visée off that Sayed over, but Hoseinbaks, bowling a pretty flat trajectory, produces a maiden to De Mey.

 Rod Lyall  14:30
Just think how much more interesting this would be if there were bonus points on offer!

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  14:28
Dosti : 128 all out (36.1 overs)
HBS : 6-0 (1 over)
And they’re back, with Asief Hoseinbaks opening from the Scoreboard End to Tobias Visée. Five wides, then a single, and De Mey plays out the rest. Sayed to bowl the second over.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  13:45
Dosti : 128 all out (36.1 overs)
All over: the second Naseri goes, caught by Walbrugh at deep mid-on, and Boddendijk finishes with four for 15.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  13:40
Dosti : 127-9 (35 overs)
As if the Hoseinbaks family weren’t confusing enough, Dosti have TWO Sami Naseris in their side today. The other one’s in now with Jatin Kumar.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  13:31
Dosti : 125-9 (32.5 overs)
Two balls later, Masood gets under a lofted shot and Navjit drops around to take the catch at deepish mid-on. Dot, then Nizarul Sayed goes, caught at fly slip. Three wickets in five balls for Boddendijk.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  13:31
Dosti : 125-7 (32.1 overs)
Wicket for Boddendijk: Asief, on 19, skies a big shot to shortish cover point, where Visée takes the easiest of catches.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  13:18
Dosti : 113-6 (29.1 overs)
But it’s not to be. De Mey from the Scoreboard End, Wegecanyi tries to cut his first delivery, and Scholte takes the catch. Waheed Masood joins Asief.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  13:12
Dosti : 109-5 (28 overs)
Four to Asief off Boddendijk brings up the hundred. Dosti need a decent partnership here.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  13:03
Dosti : 98-5 (25.5 overs)
Left-arm seamer Benno Boddendijk is the eighth bowler for HBS, and opens with a maiden. Still Ahmed from the Scoreboard End, still the Hoseinbakses edging the total upwards. Until Arief pushes the ball into the covers, looks for a run that isn’t there, sent back, stranded, gone. Joe Wegecsanyi joins Asief.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  12:51
Dosti : 89-4 (21.3 overs)
Navjit on for De Mey, and Tewarie drives him straight for four, then lofts him back over his head for six. Double change, as Adil Ahmed comes into the attack. Just one off Navjit’s second, and then Ahmed gets Tewarie with a full toss, pulled to Barresi at midwicket. He goes for 17, succeeded by Asief Hoseinbaks.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  12:35
Dosti : 72-3 (18 overs)
Hoseinbaks gets off the mark, pulling De Mey through midwicket for four. Klein tests Tewarie with a shorter ball, but the pull, not really controlled, falls safely. Dosti have some rebuilding to do.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  12:25
Dosti : 65-3 (14.3 overs)
Klein switches to the Scoreboard End, and Naseri survives a massive, concerted appeal for caught behind. Following over, though, he has to go, a bit lamely, pulling De Mey to Navjit Singh at midwicket, who takes a very good overhead catch. Arief Hoseinbaks in at five.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  12:16
Dosti : 63-2 (12.3 overs)
Four and two off De Mey’s first couple of deliveries, but Ahmed can’t resist the big hit, and this time he holes out to Reece Mason at cow. Departs for 37. Vinoo Tewarie joins Naseri.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  12:13
Dosti : 57-1 (12 overs)
Tayo Walbrugh on for Vink from the Scoreboard End. De Mey keeping things quiet from the other, and after one over Walbrugh gives way to Wesley Barresi. Ahmed lofts him wide of mid-on for four by way of welcome, then works him away for a single. Naseri sweeps him behind square for a couple.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  12:00
Dosti : 41-1 (8 overs)
Julian de Mey on for Klein, three dots then Ahmed despatches him into bovine territory for four. Otherwise a tidy over. And then Vink gets the breakthrough, as Hans edges the final ball of the over through to keeper Martijn Scholte. Sami Naseri in at three.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  11:53
Dosti : 32-0 (6 overs)
Ahmed goes after Klein, getting hold of one he drops short and pulling him over midwicket, then belting him back over his head for another. A difficult return catch goes for a couple more, and then an edge to deep fine leg for another four. 14 off a very eventful over. A loose delivery from Vink to Hans disappears through extra cover. Good start for Dosti, this.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  11:42
Dosti : 10-0 (3 overs)
First boundary for Hans, driving Vink sweetly through the covers. Ahmed lives a little dangerously, pulling Klein high towards midwicket for a single, but Hans plays out the rest of the over, and takes a single to deep third man off the last.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  11:35
Dosti : 2-0 (1 over)
Ryan Klein starts as usual from the Sportlaan End, bowling to Rahil Ahmed. Mahesh Hans at the non-striker’s end. A push into the covers gets Ahmed off the mark. Edge from Hans doesn’t carry to slip, and he survives a big leg-before off the last, probably because it hit the bat. Ferdi Vink from the Scoreboard End.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  11:06
We have it on impeccable authority that they’re looking to start at 11:30, still playing the full 50 overs, that Vinoo Tewarie has called correctly, and that Dosti will bat.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  10:59
And confirmation that an inspection is imminent.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  10:57
We understand there may be a slight delay, but hopes are high beyond that.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Dosti-United  10:49
No news of any kind from Craeyenhout so far, which is presumably not a good sign.

 Rod Lyall  10:15
And we’re back, for the final game of the round. The dodgy weather which affected three of yesterday’s matches seems to be hanging around, but we must hope that it will clear away and that HBS and Dosti will be able to get a game in. It’s more important for the Craeyenhout side, of course, since a win would take them into second place on the table.

 Bertus de Jong  19:38
So four results today, in defiance of the elements. Rain the real loser, along with Sparta, ACC, VOC and VCC. For fans of interesting denouments it’s been a good day for the table if not on the field. VRA’s comfortable win over Sparta keeps them just about in contention, though they’ve gained no ground on Excelsior or HCC, both of whom were more threatened by the weather than the efforts of ACC or VCC respectively. Punjab’s win cements their place at the top of the table, while VOC and VCC are joined on 29 points by HCC, pushing HBS out of the top four, at least until tomorrow. Join us then when the Crows take on Dosti.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  19:28
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Punjab : 157-3 (27.4/32 overs – target 157)
Schoonheim into the attack now, provided Nidamanuru with a full toss on the last ball of the 26th which is put away over the on side. Two balls later he gets another courtesy van WIngerden and puts it back over the bowler for six. He won’t see them home though, holes out off a shorter ball in Schoonheim’s next for 43. Sikander Zulfiqar hit the winnings runs in the end, pulling his first ball behind square for four, Asad left unbeaten on 44*.

 Voorburg vs HCC  19:24
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
HCC : 102-5 (24.5/27 overs; target 102)
In the meantime, De Leede has taken two wickets with successive deliveries, removing Crowley for 41 and then Trijzelaar. But Overdijk was still there, and his winning boundary took him on to 35*. Four points for HCC.

 Voorburg vs HCC  19:21
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
HCC : 97-5 (24/27 overs; target 102)
Aha! It seems there has been a miunderstanding: the 27-over target is 102, not 71 (if 101 is par, that was 71 more than HCC had at the rain break). That makes a lot more sense, frankly.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  19:14
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Punjab : 134-2 (25/32 overs – target 157)
Spin at both ends as Max O’Dowd comes into the attack, but neither bat looks particularly troubled, O’Dowd’s second over goes for 11 as Nidamanuru launches the second ball over cover for four and Zulfiqar sweeps the last hard behind square for the same result.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  19:13
Excelsior : 295-2 (50 overs)
ACC : 51-6 (28/28 overs; target 207)
I assume that’s it, although in view of what’s happening at Westvliet, who can be sure of anything? Zaidi is not out on 13, from 86 deliveries. And Excelsior win by 155 runs (DLS).

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  19:07
Excelsior : 295-2 (50 overs)
ACC : 50-6 (26/28 overs; target 207)
Niels Etman removes Van Vliet for one. Beau te Boekhorst in with the adhesive Zaidi now.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  19:02
Excelsior : 295-2 (50 overs)
ACC : 47-5 (23.5/28 overs; target 207)
Remco van Bochove gets Alves, caught by Tom Heggelman, and Mies van Vliet comes to the crease. Zaidi’s on 12, from 70 deliveries.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  18:59
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Punjab : 103-2 (20/32 overs – target 157)
Drinks at Hazelaarweg, Punjab have three figures on the board and Zulfiqar and Nidamanuru look settled. Bobby Hanif and Dirk van Baren have been trying to do something about that, but it’s time for Siebe van Wingerden to have a go after the break.

 Voorburg vs HCC  18:55
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
HCC : 74-3 (19.1/27 overs; target 71)
Mulder and Philippe Boissevain into the attack, but Crowley and Overdijk have too easy a task, and suddenly the scores are level. Four for Crowley should finish it, but they play on. Have we been misinformed???

 Voorburg vs HCC  18:45
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
HCC : 56-3 (16/27 overs; target 71)
HCC reaping the reward of bowling Voorburg out cheaply, those three early wickets notwithstanding. Crowley now on 29*.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  18:40
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Punjab : 80-2 (16/32 overs – target 157)
Van Baren into the attack and second ball he picks up the prize wicket of Stephan Myburgh, full straight and flicked off the pads straight to short third. Nidamanuru in at four.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  18:40
Excelsior : 295-2 (50 overs)
ACC : 35-4 (19/28 overs; target 207)
There’s not a huge amount to say about events at Thurlede, except that Zaidi and Alves appear to be content with survival, and are making no attempt to chase what is admittedly a pretty imposing DLS target.

 Voorburg vs HCC  18:38
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
HCC : 48-3 (14/?? overs)
Crowley’s batting very positively, moving on to 27*. Dutt and Ali Ahmed Qasim operating now.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  18:28
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Punjab : 62-1 (14/32 overs; target 157)
Arnav Jain and Pierce Fletcher toiling away for VOC. Zulfiqar goes after a full wide ball from Fletcher, opening the face to carve him over point, next ball Fletcher has his revenge however, as Zulfiqar looks to go over the on side but picks out Dirk van Baren. He goes for 27, to be replaced by his younger brother Asad.

 Voorburg vs HCC  18:28
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
HCC : 30-3 (11.1 overs)
They’re back on at Westvliet, but we haven’t yet been favoured with news of overs or target.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  18:26
Excelsior : 295-2 (50 overs)
ACC : 25-4 (13/28 overs; target 207)
Ingram finishes with figures of 6 – 2 – 6 – 3, while Stubbs has a relatively modest one for 13. Joost Kroesen and Umar Baker take over the reins.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  18:17
Excelsior : 295-2 (50 overs)
ACC : 23-4 (10/28 overs; target 207)
ACC caught between the devil and the deep blue sea; looks as if they may repeat last week’s rather pointless crawl. But Ingram’s grabbed another: Arya bowled without scoring.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  18:14
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Punjab : 42-0 (11/32 overs)
They’re back on at Hazelaarweg, Punjab have a target of 157 and 32 overs to get them. Myburgh and Rehmat Zulfiqar have already put a fair dent in that.

 Voorburg vs HCC  18:11
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
HCC : 30-3 (11.1 overs)
Covers are off at Westvliet, so we may be back there as well ere long.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  17:56
Excelsior : 295-2 (50 overs)
ACC : 20-3 (5.3/28 overs)
Turns out that they’ve got a restart at Thurlede as well, with ACC set 207 to win in 28 overs. But Ingram’s bowled Krishna for 2 and trapped Raza in front for 4. Zaidi and Kumar in now. Except Kumar’s gone as well, leg-before to Stubbs.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  17:56
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Punjab : 22-0 (7.4 overs)
They’re back on, but we have no idea for how many overs, or with what target.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  17:43
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Punjab : 22-0 (7.4 overs)
The covers are off at the Hazelaarweg, and it looks as if we may be about to get some more cricket!.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  16:18
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
VRA : 179-3 (27.4 overs)
Ivo Hoornweg bowls from the City End, Szwarczynski edges a single, and then Borren cuts hard to the point boundary to finish it. They finish on 54* and 46* respectively. I’m in Sydney, and I can hear the gnashing of teeth in Schiedam and Voorburg from here.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  16:08
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
VRA : 162-3 (25 overs)
Another fifty for Szwarczynski – he may be 38 now, but what a loss he is to the Dutch national team! Same applies to Borren, who’s moved on to 35*.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  16:03
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
VRA : 155-3 (24 overs)
Manminder Singh on from the City End, and three successive fours for Borren take him to 30* off 17 deliveries. Szwarczynski on 48*. Hoornweg back from Mulder’s End.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  15:54
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Punjab : 22-0 (7.4 overs)
No wicket yet at the Hazelaarweg, but the rain is falling instead. Players off, covers on.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  15:51
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
VRA : 122-3 (20.1 overs)
On the other hand . . . Kwinana gets one past Balbirnie’s bat, he’s struck on the pad, and umpire Van Giezen raises the Dread Finger. Peter Borren in at five.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  15:49
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
VRA : 122-2 (20 overs)
There will be a result in Amstelveen, and at the moment it looks very much like a win for VRA. Szwarczynski on 45* now, Balbirnie 37*.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  15:46
Excelsior : 295-2 (50 overs)
And at Thurlede, it seems.

 Voorburg vs HCC  15:45
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
HCC : 30-3 (11.1 overs)
Rain’s still coming down at Westvliet.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  15:39
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Punjab : 10-0 (4 overs)
Jain and Fletcher are making Myburgh and Rehmat work hard, but it’s crucial for Punjab that they don’t lose early wickets. Rehmat playing and missing a fair bit, but no dramas so far.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  15:30
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
VRA : 98-2 (16 overs)
Four overs to a possible result in the Bos, and VRA are way ahead of the DLS par score. Szwarczynski on 26* now, Balbirnie 32*.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  15:28
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Punjab : 3-0 (1 over)
Arnav Jain opens from the Pavilion End. Tidy from him, just a three for Myburgh from it. Rehmat Zulfiqar’s at the other end as usual. Pierce Fletcher from the Airport End.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  15:22
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
VRA : 85-2 (14 overs)
Faisal Iqbal into the attack, but the runs keep coming. VRA are keen to get this over before the rain arrives. Szwarczynski on 23*, Balbirnie 22*.

 Voorburg vs HCC  15:16
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
HCC : 30-3 (11.1 overs)
The rain has arrived at Westvliet, and the covers are coming on.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  15:13
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
VRA : 67-2 (11 overs)
VRA off and racing, with Balbirnie driving Ibrahimkhil beautifully through the covers, only to see his shot bettered by Szwarczynski a couple of balls later. The next one’s too straight, and turned through square for another boundary. Just a single of Bukhari’s next though.

 Voorburg vs HCC  15:02
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
HCC : 24-3 (8 overs)
Another for De Leede, as De Grooth snaffles Musa Nadeem for two. And now Nieuwoudt has Gorlee leg-before for 10. Damian Crowley’s joined by Hidde Overdijk, with HCC in a spot of bother.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  14:58
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
VRA : 46-2 (8 overs)
Ibrahimkhil has Andrew caught by Faisal Iqbal for 20; Balbirnie in with Szwarczynski now.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  14:40
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
VRA : 24-1 (4.1 overs)
Bukhari strikes: Scully leaves a delivery which just clips the top of off stump. Eric Szwarczynski in to join Andrew.

 Voorburg vs HCC  14:36
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
HCC : 4-1 (0.4 overs)
HCC have started their chase as well, and Bas de Leede sets them back almost immediately, pinning Tonny Staal in front off the first ball he faces. Boris Gorlee in to join Musa Nadeem.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  14:32
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
VRA : 10-0 (2 overs)
They’re back on in the Bos, Bukhari and Max Hoornweg bowling to Luke Scully and Marcus Andrew, the Ogre of the Bermweg.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  14:22
Excelsior : 295-2 (50 overs)
Four off the first, and then another big six over cow brings up Stubbs’s hundred as well. Two more boundaries complete the scoring, Ingram on 114*, Stubbs on 108*. The stand was worth 237. And the covers are on.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  14:22
Excelsior : 277-2 (49 overs)
And 22 come from it, including a six apiece. Ingram now on 114*, Stubbs on 90* with six deliveries from Van Vliet to come. As the rain starts.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  14:17
VOC : 210 all out (48.5 overs)
Tariq wraps things up, Hanif down the track swinging and it skids under the bat, bails off and 210 the final total.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  14:16
Excelsior : 255-2 (48 overs)
A lofted drive over midwicket for four takes Ingram to his second century of the season, and by the end of the over he’s gone on to 105*. Retains the strike with a single. Raza to bowl the penultimate over.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  14:08
VOC : 203-9 (47 overs)
Van Wingerden off the mark running Tariq down to third for a single, and that’s the 200 up for VOC.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  14:11
Excelsior : 240-2 (47 overs)
The final flourish well under way now, and Ingram has moved on to 94*, with Stubbs on 77*. Wickets in hand really telling here.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  14:08
VOC : 198-9 (46 overs)
The end approaches, bit of extra bounce for Ul Haq and Ryters egdes to slip on the cut. Van Wingerden last man. Tariq will continue.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  14:01
Excelsior : 187-2 (42 overs)
A couple of singles off Arya take Stubbs to fifty, and then Kumar returns from the Scoreboard End. A mostly tidy over from him, but no sign of the breakthrough ACC so badly need and the scoreboard ticks over.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  13:59
VOC : 197-8 (44 overs)
O’Dowd falls for 87, pinned LBW by Tariq looking to brush one off his pads. Ruyters joins Hanif as VOC edge toward the 200-mark.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  13:51
Excelsior : 178-2 (40 overs)
Stubbs hammers Zaidi over wide long on for six, a single taking him to 48, with Ingram on 64*.

 Voorburg vs HCC  13:45
Voorburg : 132 all out (40.4 overs)
Voorburg, meanwhile, have imploded at Westvliet, Floyd removing Dutt, Ali Ahmed Qasim and Stef Mulder in rapid succession to finish with five for 18. Klaus has three for 49. Philippe Boissevain is left on 15*.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Punjab  13:43
VOC : 174-7 (39 overs)
O’Dowd running low on partners now, Tariq brings himself back and does for Fletcher, squares him up and finds the outside, edge, Myburgh holds the catch. Bobby Hanif in to join O’Dowd now.

VRA Amsterdam vs Sparta 1888  13:40
Sparta : 175 all out (37.3 overs)
Mitch Lees takes the pads and gloves off and gets a bowl, as VRA are wont to do. His first over’s pretty untidy and includes a six into the water from Saleem, but in his next he gets his revenge as Saleem swings wildly and is bowled.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs ACC  13:38
Excelsior : 158-2 (37 overs)
Ingram on to 62*, Stubbs on 34*, and they take a drink at Thurlede. Excelsior have wickets in hand, and two of the finest batters in the competition well set.

And a duck for Jain too, looking to sweep Zulfiqar round the corner, bottom edged into the ground and it spins round him into the stumps. Schoonheim in, off the mark slogging over midwicket for a couple.

 Voorburg vs HCC  12:52
Voorburg : 92-5 (27 overs)

There’s a suggestion that Excelsior have won the toss at Thurlede and elected to bat. No confirmation as yet.

 Rod Lyall  10:25
Only four games today, of course, with Dosti’s encounter with HBS Craeyenhout not scheduled until tomorrow. But all of them have a bearing on the battle for top four places, none more so than Voorburg-HCC at Westvliet. But VOC-Punjab and Excelsior-ACC are pretty significant as well, and VRA know they need a win over Sparta to keep any realistic hope of making the play-offs alive. The tosses are five minutes away, so watch this space!

Welcome back for another day – we hope! – of Topklasse action, as we move into the final third of the league phase. The forecast suggests that it may be something of a race to get games finished as the rain sweeps in from the south, but one positive is that that may lead to a determined push regarding over rates. Thanks to the miracles of modern technology our live coverage will all be long-distance today, with Bertus bringing news of the game between Voorburg and HCC from his temporary pressbox in Malta, while I shall as usual be surveying the rest of the action from Sydney, where the Covid lockdown continues. Sander doesn’t have a lens quite that powerful, so he will actually be at a game.
