The Topklasse League Phase Table after Round 15

 Bertus de Jong  19:00
Well a very brief day of Topklasse bar one match, Punjab losing two on the trot puts them in danger of missing out of a top two finish despite their dominant season thius far, but arguably makes things less interesting down-table. VRA’s win over ACC keeps them in the hunt but other results have not gone their way. HCC brushed Sparta aside and VOC won comfortably at Dosti, so as it stands it looks like Punjab, HCC, and VCC remain odds-on for a top four finish, while HBS have strengthened their claim to a play-off spot. Excelsior and VOC remain well in the chase however, and plenty still to play for as we head into the final three league rounds.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  18:50
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 172-4 (47.1 overs)
Well we predicted a grind, and so it was. Singh especially batted with creditable discipline to see HBS home, taking advantage of the hosts uncharacteristic lapses in discipline. He finishes unbeaten on 73, Klein with him at the end, putting Kroesen across the rope to end up on 20*. An impressive show from the upper middle order to come back from three early wickets, and a crucial four points for the Crows.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  18:40
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 158-4 (44 overs)
Niels Etman back into the attack, Klein finds his first boundary pulling him round the corner for four. This pair look set to take the Crows home from here, hosts looking out of ideas.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  18:20
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 140-4 (39 overs)
Klein yet to score having seen 11 balls, Singh on to 63 now, DLS has HBS well ahead but Excelsior well in this if past results are anything to go on. Has not been easy to find runs. 32 needed off the last 11 overs, looks like Ingram back after drinks.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  18:05
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 127-4 (33 overs)
Singh goes to fifty punching Kroesen through cover but Barresi won’t make his half century, slaps Kroesen away through the on side for four but he’s caught on the midwicket boundary next ball slog sweeping on the last ball of the 33rd. Klein in to join Singh, Stubbs to continue.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  17:55
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 114-3 (31 overs)
They’ve gotten away without any loss of overs we gather, so 172 still the target. Barresi and Singh still building, both into the forties now. Exclesior need a breakthrough here, Joost Kroesen into the attack. Opens with a maiden.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  17:37
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 93-3 (25 overs)
They’re back on at Thurelede, Barresi and Singh resuming their partnership, Roelfsma and Stubbs for the hosts. No word on any overs off as yet though you think they might have lost a couple. Likely not a huge amount though, and DLS adjustment will probably help HBS you’d think.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  17:07
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 85-3 (23.4 overs)
HBS are indeed ten ahead of where they need to be for the win if they don’t get back on, but the expectation is still that there will be some more play today.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  16:37
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 85-3 (23.4 overs)
The rain has arrived at Thurlede, heavy but breif is the expectation. HBS about ten ahead of DLS by my estimation, will try to get confirmation on that.

 Voorburg vs Punjab Rotterdam  16:20
Punjab : 84 all out (31.3 overs)
Voorburg 86-2 (27.4 overs)
All has been revealed. Voorburg’s destroyers with the ball were Stef Mulder with four for 19 and Sajjad Kamal with three for 16, Asad Zulfiqar’s 23 was the top score for Punjab. Then Mohit Hingorani anchored the Voorburg reply with 35*, Saqib Zulfiqar getting Tom de Grooth and Bas de Leede before Sybrandt Engelbrecht helped Hingorani get them over the line.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  16:20
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 71-3 (20 overs)
Fifty partnership for Singh and Barresi, and they’ve brought HBS right back into the game. Spin at both ends now as Stubbs comes into the attack. Four off his first.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  16:04
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 62-3 (17 overs)
So this the last going concern of the day as everyone taht’s not already home tucks into their lunch. Singh and Barresi just picking off the rare bad balls here, Etman offering little and Ingram even less. They’ve plenty of overs to play with but not a whole lot of batting behind them. 110 to get and 33 overs to get them. Prepare for a grind.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  15:49
Dosti : 143 all out (38.2 overs)
VOC : 145-3 (23.1 overs)
Edwards decides to get it over with in a hurry. Two fours off Hans bring the deficit down to single figures, and then a massive six for Durrani off Nawaz finishes it. Edwards ends on 29*.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  15:45
ACC : 121 all out (30.5 overs)
VRA :123-2 (24.1 overs)
Scully glances Zaidi behind square first ball of the 25th and the ball trickles down ttreewards, just making the rope. He finishes on 62*, comfortable win for the hosts.

 Voorburg vs Punjab Rotterdam  15:44
Punjab : 84 all out (?? overs)
Voorburg ??-2 (?? overs)
Voorburg won by eight wickets, we believe. We hope to have more details for you in due course.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  15:39
Dosti : 143 all out (38.2 overs)
VOC : 122-3 (20.2 overs)
Van Baren faithfully observes VOC’s fifty-and-out rule. He smacks Hoseinbaks back over his head for six, going to 54*, then goes back to the next one trying to cut, is too close to it, and chops it into his stumps. That’s drinks, with Edwards on 10* and 22 needed.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  15:35
ACC : 121 all out (30.5 overs)
VRA :111-2 (22 overs)
A rare fumble from Knoll behind the stumps denies Arya a breakthrough, Scully the lucky batsman. Nelson doesn’t count for antipodeans of course. Just one off the over, Zaidi and Arya doing a good job of delaying the inevitable here.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  15:34
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 30-3 (8 overs)
A really good spell from Roelfsema here, and Niels Etman is now on for Ingram from the Chalet End. But there’s no real scoreboard pressure on Navjit and Barresi; they have plenty of overs to work with.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  15:27
Dosti : 143 all out (38.2 overs)
VOC : 113-2 (18 overs)
Hans and Hoseinbaks are sticking to their task, but with so few runs to play with they have no margin of error. Van Baren on to 47*, Edwards on 8*.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  15:23
ACC : 121 all out (30.5 overs)
VRA :105-2 (18 overs)
Zaidi still from the Mulder end, Scully drives through the off side for four more, one shot away from fifty now. Rasool off the mark with a similar shot to the rope through wide mid off. Van Vliet continues, Rasool drives out to cover, and then Scully brings up his fifty cutting behind square and the ball beats a particularly lazy looking chase from the man at deep third to the rope. Hundred up for VRA won’t be long now.

 Voorburg vs Punjab Rotterdam  15:21
Punjab : 84 all out (?? overs)
Voorburg ??-? (?? overs)
We’d love to bring you a progress score from Westvliet, really we would, but with no live card, no commentary, nobody tweeting, and four games in progress, we literally have no idea what’s been happening.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  15:17
Dosti : 143 all out (38.2 overs)
VOC : 93-2 (14 overs)
One brings two: Rahil Ahmed stumps De Kok off Nawaz for 1, and that brings Edwards to the crease. Van Baren still on 33*.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  15:16
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 18-3 (4 overs)
Opening with a spinner to Visée pays off again as, having lofted Ingram over extra for four, he doesn’t get over an off drive and Kroesen takes a good low catch at cover. Then Roelfsema takes the prized wicket of Walbrugh, trapped in front for 7. Barresi joins Navjit with HBS in early trouble.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  15:11
ACC : 121 all out (30.5 overs)
VRA : 83-2 (15 overs)
Zaidi gets ther breakthrough, Khan with a big heave across the line swiping at air and stumps akimbo. Breaks a likely match-winning 81-run stand for the second wicket. Shirase Rasool in at 4, Scully on 41*. Van Vliet at the other end now.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  15:10
Dosti : 143 all out (38.2 overs)
VOC : 90-1 (11.2 overs)
A breakthrough for Dosti as O’Dowd, having turned Hans to the square leg boundary to go to 52*, opens the face to the next and is bowled. Tim de Kok joins Van Baren, who’s on 33*.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  15:04
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 2-1 (1.3 overs)
HBS open with Tobias Visée and Julian de Mey, while Ingram bowls a tidy first over from the Chalet End. Two leg-byes off it. Roelfsema from the other: two dots, then De Mey tries to pull a ball that gets big on him, and the top edge flies to Kroesen at cover. Tayo Walbrugh in early again.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  14:59
Dosti : 143 all out (38.2 overs)
VOC : 72-0 (9 overs)
VOC halfway to their target in just nine overs, with O’Dowd on 41* and Van Baren on 29*. Cruising.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  14:55
ACC : 121 all out (30.5 overs)
VRA : 77-1 (12 overs)
Scully and Khan still for VRA, Scully driving the scoring early, his first five scoring shots all boundaries, but Khan keeping pace now. Opening bowlers back now and Khan pulls Kumar away for a lofted four through square. Rain won’t save ACC now either, even were it to washout from here VRA would be past the 20-over target.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  14:50
Dosti : 143 all out (38.2 overs)
VOC : 40-0 (6 overs)
Van Baren and O’Dowd have no intention of hanging around either: they’re on 21* and 17* respectively now. Asief Hoseinbaks and Hans on for Dosti.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  14:42
Dosti : 143 all out (38.2 overs)
VOC : 25-0 (4 overs)
Don’t know what Scott Edwards has against opening against Dosti, but it’s Dirk van Baren who’s Max O’Dowd’s partner today. And he’s the more aggressive initially, moving quickly on to 16*, with O’Dowd on 8*.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  14:37
ACC : 121 all out (30.5 overs)
VRA : 55-1 (7 overs)
Arya and Kothari have replaced Kumar and Alangara Napoleon, but Khan and Scully are on 21* and 25* respectively. Rain may be ACC’s only real hope here, although we must remember how they managed to squeeze out a victory against VOC.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  14:27
ACC : 121 all out (30.5 overs)
VRA : 37-1 (4 overs)
Scully has quickly gone onto the attack, hitting five fours on his way to 21*. Khan has 8* at the other end. With rain in the offing in Amsterdam, VRA aren’t going to hang around.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  14:15
Excelsior : 171-6 (50 overs)
Etman goes quietly on to 36*, with Stan van Troost on 6*. Excelsior have a reputation for defending low totals, but you’d have to say advantage HBS at the half-way mark.

 Voorburg vs Punjab Rotterdam  14:16
Punjab : 84 all out (?? overs)
Voorburg 0-0 (1 over)
They’re back at Westvliet as well, and we can tell you that Voorburg need 85 to win. The rest is, I fear, silence, except that Hingorani and De Grooth have opened, and Siam Main (whose name is almost a palindrome) has bowled the first over.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  14:10
ACC : 121 all out (30.5 overs)
VRA : 2-1 (0.2 overs)
They’re back in the Bos, and Vikram Singh’s contribution is brief; he turns Kumar’s first delivery wide of mid-on for a couple, and then is strangled down the leg-side by the second. Knoll obliges, Singh goes. Luke Scully in to join Zamaan Khan.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  14:05
Excelsior : 151-6 (47 overs)
Klein and De Mey are keeping it very tight, and Etman and Van Troost have been unable so far to achieve any real acceleration.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  13:58
Excelsior : 143-6 (44.2 overs)
Another for De Mey and another catch for Scholte as Van Troost attempts to carve the spinner away and edges to the keeper. Stan van Troost succeeds his big brother.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  13:49
Dosti : 143 all out (38.2 overs)
O’Dowd gets Jibobh as well, caught behind by Edwards. Fletcher the pick of the bowlers with four for 20.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  13:48
Excelsior : 136-5 (42.3 overs)
Kroesen and Etman making gradual progress, but they will need to up the tempo pretty soon. And Ryan Klein still has four overs to bowl. As I write that, Kroesen goes for 27, driving at De Mey and well caught by Navjit Singh, dropping back at point. Rens van Troost in now.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  13:43
Dosti : 142-9 (36.5 overs)
Some decent resistance from Jibobh and Bhoeland, but when the latter tries to hit O’Dowd back over his head he succeeds only in edging to Fletcher at slip. Abdul Nawaz the last man.

  Sparta 1888 vs HCC  13:39
Sparta : 40 all out (24.4 overs)
HCC : 43-3 (5.4 overs)
And a four for Overdijk finishes it off. The less said about that one, the better.

 Voorburg vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:36
Punjab : ?? all out (?? overs)
Punjab are all out in what is arguably the mot important match of the day, but I’m afraid we can’t tell you at the moment how many they made. Or anything else, really.

  Sparta 1888 vs HCC  13:35
Sparta : 40 all out (24.4 overs)
HCC : 39-3 (5.2 overs)
Crowley’s gone now, another wicket for Balwantsingh. But it’s clear that the wickets don’t matter too much for HCC. Hidde Overdijk joins Hennop.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  13:30
Excelsior : 119-4 (38 overs)
Benno Boddendijk claims the near-priceless wicket of Stubbs, caught by Navjit Singh for 24, and Excelsior still have a lot of work to do. Kroesen’s on 21*, batting now with Niels Etman.

  Sparta 1888 vs HCC  13:27
Sparta : 40 all out (24.4 overs)
HCC : 32-2 (3 overs)
HCC have embarked upon one of their all-or-nothing run chases, no doubt with one eye on NRR. Musa Nadeem hits Hoornweg for two sixes and is bowled for a 4-ball 14, Boris Gorlee falls to Balwantsingh for 1. But Daniël Hennop is still there, joined by Damian Crowley, and only nine more are needed.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  13:22
Dosti : 129-8 (32 overs)
Fletcher adds the scalp of Asief Hoseinbaks, another catch for Edwards, and Bobby Hanif, making a welcome return for VOC, gets Sayed, caught by Upadhyaya. Fletcher then gets his fourth, bowling Jatin Kumar, and Dosti have two debutants, Shaief Jibobh and Shifariez Bhoeland, at the crease.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  13:18
ACC : 121 all out (30.5 overs)
Turmaine and Singh finish it off, removing Kumar and Van Vliet respectively. ACC are, as they say, going to have to bowl very, very well.

 Voorburg vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:15
Punjab : 74-6 (25 overs)
Sajjad Kamal has three now, his latest victim Sikander Zulfiqar. Saqib’s still there, batting now with skipper Suleiman Tariq.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  13:11
Excelsior : 103-3 (34 overs)
With so much happening elsewhere, Excelsior’s steady progress is getting less attention than it deserves. Stubbs is on 24* now, with Kroesen on 8*. Geenevasen has finished his 10-over spell with one for 23, and Julian de Mey and Stephan Vink are operating at the moment.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  13:05
ACC : 119-8 (29 overs)
Arya goes, attempting a suicidal single to midwicket. Bowler Turmaine is quickly across, and extra cover’s in to take his return and whip off the bails. Mies van Vliet in to join Kumar.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  13:03
Dosti : 124-5 (29 overs)
Fletcher returns to get Arief Hoseinbaks caught behind by Edwards for 35. Asief is still there, batting now with Nizarul Sayed.

  Sparta 1888 vs HCC  12: 56
Sparta : 40 all out (24.4 overs)
The debacle at the Bermweg comes to a merciful end. And it’s Clayton Floyd who finishes it off, removing Wahab Umar, Tom Hoornweg and Lovepreet Singh in quick succession to end with three for 3 in 2.4 overs, and three wickets in ten deliveries in that second spell. Bijloos four for 17 from his ten overs, Overdijk three for 12 from his. They’re good, but are they that good?

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  12:51
ACC : 111-7 (25 overs)
The dam’s broken in the Bos. Borren gets the breakthrough, bowling Zaidi for 38, and then Leon Turmaine gets Shreyas Potdar, caught by Luke Scully. Another catch for Scully, this time off Gunning, removes Knoll for 26. Aryan Kumar and Devanshu Arya have the task of giving themselves something to bowl at.

 Voorburg vs Punjab Rotterdam  12:46
Punjab : 54-5 (20.4 overs)
The wheels are coming off for Punjab at Westvliet, with Stef Mulder removing Teja Nidamanuru and Yasir Usman falling to Kamal. It may actually be worse than that, but the scoring system appears to have frozen.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  12:39
Excelsior : 78-3 (24.4 overs)
Another catch for young Martijn Scholte, and this time it’s Ingram who goes for a very circumspect 22, made from 77 deliveries. Sander Geenevasen the bowler. Joost Kroesen in at five.

  Sparta 1888 vs HCC  12: 36
Sparta : 33-7 (20 overs)
The Sparta procession continues, Imran Choudhry bowled by Bijloos. Wahab Umar in to join Nasrat Ibrahimkhil. Four for 17 for Bijloos, three for 12 for Overdijk.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  12:32
Dosti : 90-4 (21 overs)
Tewarie’s gone, trapped in front by Ramdas Upadhyaya for 31. Hoseinbakses at both ends for Dosti with Asief joining Arief, while O’Dowd has joined Upadhyaya in the attack.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  12:29
Excelsior : 69-2 (22 overs)
It’s Wesley Barresi, the Netherlands’ answer to Nathan Lyon, who gets the breakthrough, getting Verhagen caught by Visée for 28. Tristan Stubbs at the crease with Ingram for his final Topklasse innings of the season.

 Voorburg vs Punjab Rotterdam  12:25
Punjab : 47-3 (18.3 overs)
Rewards for Voorburg’s discipline are coming now, as Rehmat Zulfiqar goes for an uncharacteristically subdued 41-ball 5, and then Asad is bowled by Sajjad Kamal for 23.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  12:22
ACC : 102-4 (18 overs)
Zaidi and Knoll building a very valuable stand in the Bos, on 34* and 25* respectively now. Vikram Singh and Peter Borren into the attack, but with no positive results as yet.

  Sparta 1888 vs HCC  12: 13
Sparta : 25-6 (14.4 overs)
More trouble for Sparta: Manminder Singh and Balwantsingh both go without scoring, and then Max Hoornweg into the bargain. Bijloos and Overdijk have three apiece at this stage. That sixth wicket is the cue for a drink, with Sparta in complete disarray.

 Voorburg vs Punjab Rotterdam  11:59
Punjab : 29-1 (13 overs)
De Leede and Nieuwoudt have been doing a terrific job at Westvliet, containing Punjab’s menacing top order. Rehmat and Asad Zulfiqar are still there, but runs have been at a premium.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  11:58
Dosti : 36-3 (13 overs)
Van Wingerden strikes again: Wegecsanyi caught by O’Dowd for 4. Arief Hoseinbaks in now with Tewarie, who’s moved on to 27*. Dirk van Baren replaces Fletcher from the Airport End.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  11:53
ACC : 56-4 (11 overs)
A useful little stand between Hosur and Zaidi, but it’s broken by Quirijn Gunning, who gets the former caught behind for 25. Chris Knoll joins Zaidi in the middle.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  11:51
Excelsior : 46-1 (13 overs)
While we’ve been trying to make sense of events at the Bermweg, Verhagen and Ingram have been quietly going about their business at Thurlede. Verhagen’s on 26* now, and Ingram on 8*.

  Sparta 1888 vs HCC  11:47
Sparta : 15-3 (10 overs)
It’s taken a while to get things sorted at the Bermweg, but the essence of the story is that Hidde Overdijk and Reinier Bijloos are in charge for HCC. Sparta are Bukhariless today, and the further bad news for them is that Garnett Tarr has been and gone for 2, bowled by Bijloos, while Overdijk has removed Salman Yaqub and Gagandeep Singh. Manminder Singh and Prithvi Balwantsingh are currently trying to dig them out of trouble.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  11:37
Dosti : 26-2 (8 overs)
Another wicket for VOC, as Ahmed is caught by Ayaz Durrani off Van Wingerden for 11. Joe Wegecsanyi in with Tewarie now.

 Voorburg vs Punjab Rotterdam  11:21
Punjab : 8-1 (3 overs)
A big wicket for Voorburg, Steph Myburgh gone for 4, caught by Tom de Grooth off Karl Nieuwoudt. Asad Zulfiqar joins big brother Rehmat.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  11:17
ACC : 15-3 (3.1 overs)
High drama in the Bos, where young left-armer Ashir Abid has grabbed three wickets before you can say ‘Amsterdamse derby’. Anis Raza caught behind, Ram Ramesh Babu bowled, and Sahil Kothari LBW. All in his first 13 deliveries. Krishna Hosur is joined by Ammar Zaidi with ACC in deep trouble.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti-United  11:11
Dosti : 7-1 (2.2 overs)
Dosti batting at the Hazelaarweg, Vinoo Tewarie having won the toss. Rahil Ahmed and Mahesh Hans open as usual, but interestingly, Siebe van Wingerden is Pierce Fletcher’s new ball partner. It’s Fletcher who gets the first breakthrough, Hans nicking to Scott Edwards and departing for 3. Tewarie himself joins Ahmed.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  11:05
Excelsior : 6-1 (1.1 overs)
And a wicket from his first delivery, as Etman edges a lifting delivery through to keeper Martijn Scholte. Lorenzo Ingram in early again.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  11:03
Excelsior : 6-0 (1 over)
They’ve actually started EARLY at Thurlede, where Joost Kroesen has elected to have a bat. Ferdi Vink opens from the Scoreboard End to Tim Etman, who puts his first ball away for four. Just a wide and a single from the rest of the over. Ryan Klein from the City End.

 VRA Amsterdam vs ACC  10:56
ACC : 0-0 ( overs)
Likewise, after winning the toss in the Bos Peter Borren has asked ACC to have a bat.

 Voorburg vs Punjab Rotterdam  10:53
Punjab : 0-0 ( overs)
At Westvliet Bas de Leede has won the toss and put the leaders in.

  Sparta 1888 vs HCC  10:42
Sparta : 0-0 ( overs)
Boris Gorlee has called correctly at the Bermweg and invited Sparta to have a bat.

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  10:38
Correction: they’re starting on time at Thurlede! (That’s OK, guys, we know it’s all a bit fraught at the moment . . .)

Excelsior ‘20 vs HBS Craeyenhout  10:32
First news from the grounds: some hard work by the Excelsior ground staff after their T20 Cup match yesterday was abandoned without a ball being bowled means that they expect to get a start at Thurlede at 12:00.

 Rod Lyall  10:25
I’ve been saying for years that the effect of climate change might mean that the Dutch cricket season would need to introduce a summer stop, with games played in March/April and September/October as the climate becomes more and more subtropical. And I thought I was joking. But with the May monsoon this year and more rain more recently, it is becoming something of an issue. Meanwhile, we’ll keep our eye out for news of any tosses which take place shortly.

 Rod Lyall  10:15
Welcome once again, one and all, to TKcricket’s live coverage of the day’s Topklasse action. After rain overnight we wait with bated breath to see whether games will be able to get under way on time, and then to what extent the threatened showers interfere with proceedings. Every match in this fifteenth round matters for the top four, so there will be every incentive for the teams – especially those who are among the seven contenders – to avoid the dreaded one point apiece. I’ll be keeping you posted from my Sydney eyrie this morning, while Sander and his camera will be at Lake Thurlede for the crucial encounter between Excelsior and HBS. You’ll doubtless recognize Bertus’s inimitable contributions when he chimes in a little later on.
