The final (provisional) Topklasse League Phase table

 Rod Lyall  18:25
Low scores successfully defended might be the theme of the day, were it not for the extraordinary story coming out of De Diepput. Or it might be the way in which a couple of clubs found themselves forced to cobble a side together in what is allegedly the Netherlands’ premier competition. But all that is trumped by the abandonment of the match between HCC and VOC amidst allegations of racial abuse. It seems a shameful situation, although we will of course need to await a Board decision and probably a disciplinary hearing before we have a clearer view of the rights and wrongs of it. Regardless of that, HCC’s decision to walk off has virtually certainly cost them a place in the top four, and it seems likely to have cost VOC third place as well, since VRA’s win at Thurlede was enough to put their net run rate above VOC’s – by 0.009! As things stand, it’s Punjab-Voorburg and VRA-VOC next week. We’ll keep abreast of any developments during the week, and we look forward to bringing you all the play-off action. This is Rod Lyall saying goodbye for now, and stay safe wherever you are!

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  18:19
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 184 all out (48.2 overs)
And now they are, as Bhatti finishes it. Master caught behind, and ACC fall 30 short.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  18:16
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 184-9 (48 overs)
Mubashar Hussain catches Kumar off Tariq for 24, and that’s pretty much game, set and match. Mies van Vliet joins Alves with the task now massive. Two balls later Alves goes. Master the last man. A game battle from ACC, but Punjab are just about there.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  18:11
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 180-7 (47 overs)
Just a couple of singles of the 47th from Bhatti, and now it’s 35 from three.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  18:06
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 178-7 (46 overs)
Tariq and Bhatti are cutting out the boundaries, at least for now, and they can bowl out if necessary. And as I write that, Asad Zulfiqar stumps Raza for 44. Randier Alves joins Kumar, and the balance tips Punjab’s way. Three off it and the wicket!

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  18:01
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 175-6 (45 overs)
Eight off Bhatti, and the equation’s 40 off five. Raza 43*, Kumar 22*. Tariq again.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:58
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 167-6 (44 overs)
Suleiman Tariq returns to restore some order to proceedings, and six come off his next. 48 off six, Raza 38*.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:52
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 161-6 (43 overs)
Make that 54 off seven. Sikander comes in for some tap from his old mate Anis Raza, and ACC’s chances look a little brighter.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:43
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 137-6 (41 overs)
Kumar’s in belligerent mood (in the best possible sense) and has moved briskly to 16*, but ACC need 78 off nine overs now.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  17:35
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
VCC : 102 all out (40.4 overs)
And Klein wraps things up, inswinging yorker does for Kingma. HBS win by 28 runs. The Crows celebrate wildly but given events of the day it’s unlikely to be enough. VRA take their points from Thurlede, VCC and Punjab of course are already assured of a top four spot, and though the points from the HCC-VOC match have yet to be awarded definitively, it’s hard to envisage a scenario where 40 points will suffice.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:29
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 119-6 (38 overs)
ACC have lost another, Hannema caught by Imran ul Haq off Sikander Zulfiqar for 5. Raza’s batting now with Kumar, but the writing’s on the wall.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  17:27
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
VCC : 101-9 (39 overs)
Kingma showing some fight here, picks up Geenevasen full on middle and whips him over the on side for four, hundred up, Klein returns after drinks looking to put a stop to the defiance.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  17:25
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 105 all out (36.1 overs)
Furthermore, that 71-run victory is, by my count, enough to take VRA into third place ahead of VOC on NRR and give them a home semi-final, given that we’re assuming that VOC have won on a forfeit. But no doubt we’ll be hearing a good bit more about that in the next few days.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  17:20
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 105 all out (36.1 overs)
And it’s Borren, appropriately enough, who claims the wicket which takes VRA into the play-offs, Van Troost caught by Scully for 24.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  17:15
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 105-9 (35 overs)
Luuk van Troost had played nearly 300 matches and scored almost 6000 runs when Vikram Singh was born, and the old stager demonstrates that his muscles aren’t losing their memory as he takes seven off a Singh over. It’s all likely to be in vain, though, as a comparatively youthful Peter Borren bowls Gijs Kroesen for 3. Klaas Roelfsema the last man.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  17:10
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
VCC : 92-9 (36 overs)
Wickets continue to fall at Craeyenhout, Vink has van der Giessen caught before Geenevasen strikes twice in the 36th to pin Boissevain and de Lange LBW. Kingma and Mulder last pair for VCC as HBS close in on an improbable victory.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:01
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 97-4 (30.4 overs)
And Knoll’s gone, run out by Rehmat Zulfiqar for 15. Anis Raza in to join Zaidi.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  16:59
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 85-8 (31 overs)
Sure enough, Turmaine gets Van Bochove, caught by Singh for 5. Gijs Kroesen joins Van Troost.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  16:54
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 95-3 (30 overs)
Sikander Zulfiqar on from the Uilenstede End, but Zaidi and Knoll are giving their side a chance, on 18* and 14*. The same applies, although ACC have plenty of wickets in hand.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  16:53
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 82-7 (30 overs)
Van Troost and Van Bochove are coping with Turmaine and Singh, but with 95 still needed there’s going to have to be a change of tempo at some point, and that’s going to be the danger point.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  16:40
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 74-7 (25 overs)
Turmaine ends Heggelman’s resistance as he’s caught by Scully for 30. Remco van Bochove in to join Van Troost, and Excelsior still need 103.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  16:37
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
VCC : 79-6 (27 overs)
The collapse continues at Craeyenhout as van Beek lifts Stephan Vink into the hands of long on. Floris de Lange joins van der Giessen for the seventh wicket with VCC still 52 short.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  16:35
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 73-3 (26 overs)
Sohail Bhatti bowls Potdar for 37, bringing Knoll in to join Zaidi.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  16:27
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
VCC : 71-5 (22 overs)
De Mey has another as Hingorani pulls a shport ball into the hands of square leg. Logan van Beek joins Engelbrecht, but next over Englebrecht too departs, caught off Stephan Vink for 17. Tom de Grooth in, and then out, van Beek pushing for a three that he might be quick enough to get but de Grooth certainly isn’t, and run out for the two he managed. Van der Giessen in, and VCC are five down and still only half-way there…

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  16:32
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 71-6 (23 overs)
Vikram Singh has Woutersen caught by Borren, and Luuk van Troost, also out of retirement in Excelsior’s hour of need, joins skipper Heggelman, who now is on 30*.

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  16:27
Dosti : 164 all out (37.5 overs)
Sparta : 133-9 all out (26.5 overs)
But it was one wicket in hand, since Manminder Singh was unfortunately forced to withdraw just before the start, and Masood’s dismissal of Lars Snoep brings the match to an end. And gives Dosti their first win in two seasons. Martijn Snoep remains not out on 24.

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  16:22
Dosti : 164 all out (37.5 overs)
Sparta : 128-8 (26 overs)
Martijn Snoep, at any rate, isn’t giving up the fight. He’s on 23*, and Asief Hoseinbaks has completed his 10 overs, finishing with four for 29. Sparta need 37, with two wickets in hand.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  16:18
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 63-5 (20 overs)
And another for Abid, as Umar Baker’s caught by Cooper for 6. Heggelman still there on 23*, joined now by the formerly-retired Adam Woutersen.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  16:15
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 56-2 (21 overs)
Mubashar Hussain from the River End, but the runs are starting to flow now for ACC. Still a long way to go, but Potdar’s on 28*, Zaidi on 5*.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  16:04
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 48-4 (17 overs)
Udit Nashier into the attack, but it’s Abid who gets the breakthrough, running Jelte van Troost out for 9. Drinks with the match delicately poised and VRA’s play-off chances in the balance. And not only theirs, as it happens.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  16:04
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
VCC : 66-2 (19 overs)
Dug in short by Geenevasen and Engelbrecht is finally off the mark, pulling hard to the square leg boundary to take VCC past fifty. Picks up four more in Geenevasen’s next, albeit in less authoratative style, french cutting across his stumps. Two balls later and short again, Engelbrecht repeats his first scoring stroke.

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  15:51
Dosti : 164 all out (37.5 overs)
Sparta : 100-8 (21 overs)
A fourth for the estimable Asief Hoseinbaks as Tom Hoornweg’s bowled for 1. Lars Snoep joins Martijn, and Dosti are on the brink of an historic victory.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  15:54
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
VCC : 48-2 (16 overs)
Engelbrecht has been the model of circumspection since coming to the crease. He’s blocked out 15 dot balls to de Mey and Geenevasen. Mohit Hingorani has been comparatively busy at the other end, a couple of singles since the wicket and he’s move him to 26, before pulling a drag-down from de Mey for four to go to 30*.

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  15:51
Dosti : 164 all out (37.5 overs)
Sparta : 95-7 (18 overs)
Sparta are again in full collapse mode: Asief Hoseinbaks gets Umar for 25, Hans follows it up with the wickets of Balwantsingh and Arjan Smelt. Dosti are into the makeshift tail.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  15:47
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 34-2 (13.1 overs)
Nidamanuru has removed Krishna Hosur for 12. Kothari in to join Potdar, but he’s gone as well, a second wicket for Nidamanuru.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  15:45
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 39-3 (13 overs)
Gunning gets the breakthrough: Kroesen caught by Scully for 7. Jelte van Troost in to join Heggelman.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  15:40
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
Voorburg : 41-2 (12 overs)
De Mey into the attack and in his second over draws a baffling lapse of concentration from Bas de Leede, short and wide outside off and de Leede slaps it straight to point. Engelbrecht in and blocks out the over.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  15:41
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
Voorburg : 40-1 (11 overs)
Julian de Mey on for Vink, and De Leede, using his feet, lofts him wide of mid-on for four. Klein’s bowling his heart out, to the extent of hurling himself across to catch what proves to be a bump ball, but without further success. Hingorani 22*, De Leede 16*.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  15:35
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 35-2 (11 overs)
Gunning and Abid still for VRA, but they’ve not found a third wicket yet, Heggelman and Kroesen progressing slowly, but there’s little hurry. Excelsior still only really need a partnership and a half here.

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  15:32
Dosti : 164 all out (37.5 overs)
Sparta : 78-4 (14 overs)
But Asief Hoseinbaks has bowled Tarr for 30, and Dosti are in with a shout here! Prithvi Balwantsingh joins Umar, who’s moved to 16*.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  15:27
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
Voorburg : 28-1 (8 overs)
Vink, on the other hand, offers rather more, and Hingorani in particular takes full advantage. He’s moved to 17*, De Leede on 9*.

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  15:20
Dosti : 164 all out (37.5 overs)
Sparta : 61-3 (11 overs)
Dosti are putting up a fight: Hoornweg’s caught behind off Mahendram, and then Masood bowls Bukhari for 5. Once again, Tarr’s the key. He’s on 30* now, batting with Danish Umar.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  15:17
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
Voorburg : 15-1 (5 overs)
Hingorani gets Voorburg on the board with a couple into the covers. Klein and Ferdi Vink are creating a certain amount of pressure, but Voorburg have plenty of time and can afford to wait for the loose delivery. Not that Klein offers many of those.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  15:11
Punjab : 214-5 (50 overs)
ACC : 4-0 (3 overs)
ACC open with Shreyas Potdar and Krishna Hosur, Punjab with Tariq and Nidamanuru. Not a lot happening so far.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  15:09
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 18-2 (4 overs)
It is indeed Abid, and a happy change for VRA as he bags the huge wicket of Ingram with his second ball. He’s caught for just 15, Joost Kroesen in and VRA suddenly believe again.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  15:06
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 16-1 (3 overs)
Jack Balbirnie sharing the new ball with Gunning, but the slow option doesn’t go as well. Ingram strokes him through the covers for four on the front foot fourth ball, two balls later cuts hime behind point for three more. Looks like Abid will replace him for the fourth.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  15:03
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
Voorburg : 0-1 (1 over)
Klein opens from the Sportlaan End to Aryan Dutt, who’s opening with Mohit Hingorani. And he too gives his side the start they need: Dutt edges the third delivery to Scholte at slip. Bas de Leede in at three.

 Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA  14:56
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Excelsior : 1-1 (1 over)
And they’re back on, Gunning with the new ball gives VRA the exact start they wanted, fulling and shaping in, Etman falling over in the shot rather and pinned in front first ball. Ingram in to join Heggelman

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  14:53
Dosti : 164 all out (37.5 overs)
Sparta : 26-1 (7 overs)
Hoornweg shaping promisingly, with Tarr also starting confidently. They’re on 13* and 10*.

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  14:37
Dosti : 164 all out (37.5 overs)
Sparta : 5-1 (2.1 overs)
Max Hoornweg promoted to open, together with Craig Ambrose. And first blood to Asief Hoseinbaks, who traps Ambrose with the first ball of his second over. Garnett Tarr in early, not for the first time.

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  14:24
Dosti : 164 all out (37.5 overs)
Snoep and Tom Hoornweg clean up, with four for 51 and three for 17 respectively. Masood top-scores with 35, Suresh Mahendram contributing 19 towards the end.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  14:18
Punjab 214-5 (50 overs)
Usman goes after Kumar with a vengeance, so that it’s Van Vliet who bowls the last. Saqib Zulfiqar finishes on 53*, made from 82 deliveries, but Usman’s 48* comes from just 42, with two fours and three sixes. He tries to plant the last ball onto second ground, but to his evident disgust doesn’t connect properly.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  14:14
HBS : 130 all out (48 overs)
Kingma finishes it with a yorker which splatters Visée’s stumps. De Leede the pick of the bowlers with three for 21. HBS are going to have to bowl very, very well.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  14:10
VRA : 176-7 (50 overs)
Alternate sweeps and reverse sweeps from Turmaine and some hard running see them take nine off Baker in the 49th without finding the rope. Heggelman to bowl the last over, tight from him, just three off the first three deliveries before Turmaine attempts the slog sweep, chance of a catch goes down and they take a single, big top edge from Nashier next up lands safely too as they take a couple but no boundaries in this over either as Nashier drives through extra for two more. VRA finish on 176-7, Turmaine unbeaten on 41*. An impressive recovery given the start and normally that would be a competitive score at Thurlede but the pitch has played better today than VRA’s top order made it look.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  14:09
HBS : 127-9 (46 overs)
Vink and Visée are providing one of those irritating little last-wicket partnerships which frustrate the bowlers no end. Kingma back from the Scoreboard End, but they’re still there.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  14:05
Punjab 170-5 (46 overs)
Kothari and Kumar at the death for ACC, with Saqib edging towards a half-century – he’s 48* now – and Yasir Usman offering good support with 13*.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  13:39
VRA : 154-7 (47 overs)
Turmaine brings up the 150 for VRA with a flick off the toes for one before Baker finally breaks the partnership, Balbirnie looking to deploy the reverse sweep as VRA seek acceleration at the death, misses and into the pads, up goes the finger. He goes for a crucial 45 off 103. Nashier joins Turmaine, who’s on 31*.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  13:50
HBS : 115-9 (40.1 overs)
Four for Vink, but then Dutt gets Boddendijk, caught by Engelbrecht at cover. Yoran Visée the last man.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  13:46
HBS : 111-8 (39.1 overs)
De Leede gets his man, Vink bowled all ends up for 19. Nelson strikes again. Stephan Vink joins Boddendijk.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  13:42
VRA : 134-6 (43 overs)
Balbirnie and Turmaine have done a fine job stopping the rot for VRA, but even at Thurlede the visitors are a long way from a competitive score. Signs of acceleration now though as Balbirnie sweeps Ingram behind square for four, and next over Turmaine takes a brace of twos off Heggelman square to leg and then through point, good running from these two.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:42
Punjab 145-5 (40.4 overs)
Sikander doesn’t last long, as young Master beats him in the flight and hits the stumps. Saqib’s on 42*, but Punjab will need a few more here, one fancies, as Yasir Usman joins him at the crease.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  13:35
HBS : 107-7 (36 overs)
Vink takes two four off De Leede, first top-edging the ball to fine leg, then another edge to third man. In between, a full-blooded hoick wide of mid-on. De Leede, evidently unamused, responds with a pretty good bouncer.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:26
Punjab : 136-4 (37.4 overs)
Wicket for Anis Raza, as Asad tries to sweep and is bowled for a VERY patient 20. Saqib, now on 40*, is joined by Sikander.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:18
Punjab : 128-3 (35 overs)
Zinesh Master now from the River End, and Saqib and Asad milk him for five singles. Runs are coming slowly, but ‘t Loopveld’s not a high-scoring ground, and Punjab have a solid platform.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  13:14
HBS : 96-7 (31.5 overs)
Geenevasen lofts Mulder wide of mid-on for four, but he mistimes the next and Kingma takes the catch at cover. Benno Boddendijk joins Vink in the middle.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  13:13
VRA : 105-6 (36 overs)
Looks like a run out here as Turmiane pushes Woutersen out on the off side, thinks twice and slips as he turns back. Looked well short as the bails are broken, but he reckons Joost Kroesen has broken the wicket with his gloves before he had the ball I think, and the umpire seems to agree.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  13:06
VRA : 101-6 (35 overs)
Turmaine briefly overtakes Balbirnie’s score before the latter reclaims the lead with a back foot punch through cover for three. Turmaine takes VRA to three figures clipping Jelte van Troost off his toes for a single. 15 overs to go, Adam Woutersen into the attack.

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  13:01
Dosti : 116-6 (24 overs)
Tom Hoornweg removes Shazai, but Masood’s gone onto the attack, his 36* including three fours and two sixes so far. He’s batting now with Shirfariesh Bhoelan.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  12:58
HBS : 87-6 (28 overs)
Klein trapped in front by Mulder for 12. Ferdi Vink to the crease, with HBS in serious need of a captain’s knock.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  12:56
VRA : 89-6 (30 overs)
Turmaine has joined Balbirnie in the middle now after Lees shanked Bochove into the hands of van Troost at cover Balbirnie has ground outt 11 runs off 55 balls now, Turmaine has crontributed a brisk 9 off 15. Luuk and Jelte van Troost operating in tandem now.

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  12:55
Dosti : 87-5 (18 overs)
Some resistance from Masood and Shazai, now on 10* and 13*. Mudassar Bukhari into the attack.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  12:53
Punjab : 90-3 (26 overs)
Three wickets for Kothari, with Myburgh caught behind for 42 and Nidmanuru gone for a duck, caught by Shreyas Potdar three balls later. Saqib Zulfiqar batting with Asad now.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  12:45
HBS : 78-5 (25 overs)
Van Beek back from the Sportlaan End. Just a single for Sander Geenevasen off it, taking him to 7*, with Klein on 12*. Stef Mulder continues from the Scoreboard End.

 HCC vs VOC Rotterdam  12:36
VOC : 45-1 (16.3 overs)
It seems that the match won’t be resuming. It’s not clear precisely what was said out in the middle, but apparently it was bad enough that Patel is not willing to continue, and his team have backed his decision it seems.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  12:36
VRA : 71-5 (25 overs)
Balbirnie and Lees are just about holding their own against Ingram and Remco van Bochove, but runs are like hen’s teeth at Thurlede at the moment.

 HCC vs VOC Rotterdam  12:30
VOC : 45-1 (16.3 overs)
A protracted hold up in play at de Diepput after a verbal altercation between Dirk van Baren and and Yash Patel behind the stumps. Patel has walked off followed by his team mates, and word is the game may be called off altogether.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs Voorburg  12:29
HBS : 61-5 (21.2 overs)
HBS’s woes increase as Navjit gets a leading edge to De Leede and is caught by Engelbrecht in the covers. Ryan Klein in to join Scholte. But now Scholte’s gone as well, skying a catch to keeper Hingorani off Philippe Boissevain.

 Dosti-United vs Sparta 1888  12:16
Dosti : 67-5 (15 overs)
Both Hoseinbakses have gone, followed by Joe Wegecsanyi. A wicket apiece for Snoep and Tom Hoornweg, and a run-out which actually started the mini-collapse. Waheed Masood and Shirzaman Shazai are currently trying to hold things together.

 HCC vs VOC Rotterdam  11:42
VOC : ??-1 (?? overs)
We’d love to keep you posted on events at De Diepput, we would really. But short of ignoring all the other games and scoring it ourselves, there’s not a lot we can do. An occasional shot of the scoreboard would help, assuming it’s working. But Van Baren and Edwards are still there, and they’re taking a drink.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VRA Rotterdam  12:06
VRA : 64-5 (17 overs)
Umar Baker and Lorenzo Ingram strangling the scoring, and now another wicket down, Borren pushing forward at Baker, on with the arm and takes the outside edge, straight to first slip and gone. VRA in all sorts of trouble now. Lees in.

 ACC vs Punjab Rotterdam  12:05

Cricket does not exist in a vacuum, and I’m sure that our thoughts will at least in part be with the people of Kabul, and all Afghanistan, in the coming hours and days. The engagement of Afghans with cricket, in Afghanistan and among their emigre communities everywhere, has been a remarkable story, and our hearts go out to all those with families in that long-suffering country.

 Rod Lyall  10:25
The many permutations do not only arise from who wins and loses: with VOC and VRA just 0.06 apart on NRR, should they both win or both lose, it will come down to how well or badly they do one or the other. It’s hard to quantify, but 0.06 over 18 games ain’t much! The tosses should be five minutes away.

And so here we are: welcome, one and all, to TKcricket’s live coverage of the final round of league matches in the 2021 Topklasse! There are, of course, the play-offs to follow, but who plays whom next week will be settled today, and specifically at De Diepput, Thurlede and Craeyenhout. Bertus and I will be bringing you updates on all those games, and naturally from ‘t Loopveld and Drieburg as well. Remarkably in a season in which rain has seemed to be to the Topklasse as mint sauce is to roast lamb or rookworst to erwtensoep, the skies appear to be clear and the prospects for uninterrupted matches everywhere appear good. So we hope you’ll enjoy the action, and our take on it, over the coming hours.
