Bertus de Jong 17:54
In retrospect 187 was never likely to be enough on a pitch that’s playing well coupled with an outfield that is small, fast and somewhat bobbly. Lubbers made it look easier than it was perhaps, though the 38 extras Dosti gave up also made it easier than it needed to be. Given the state of the table this result puts a big dent in Dosti’s hopes of Topklasse survival, while Salland may just start thinking about how close a top three spot looks just now. Still a long way to go of course, and pkenty to play for. We’ll be back live next Saturday for ROund 6 of course, with all sorts of galleries, reviews and previews popping up in the interim, so do check back. For now though this is Bertus de Jong signing off from a sunny Sportpark Drieburg.
Dosti-United vs Salland 17:43
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 189-5 (38.5 overs)
Well that’s a way to go to fifty, Lubbers two steps down and slams Hoseinbaks hard and flat over long off onto the football ground. Looks to finish it in style two balls later but thick edge into the on side yields just one, and it’s van Molen who does the honours, off the mark with a four through the covers that wraps up the day’s play.
Dosti-United vs Salland 17:43
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 178-5 (38 overs)
Tewarie indeed and tidy from him, bowling quicker and flatter than is customary, but gives away just the one. Hoseinbaks still at the other end, and five more wides down leg. Probably not enough time for extras to get to a half century, but certainly headed that way. Lubbers closing in on his though as he punches Tewarie out wide of long on for four, then pushes to long on to go to 49*.
Dosti-United vs Salland 17:34
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 166-5 (35 overs)
Hoseinbaks from the football end now, Bharathi drives him out through extra second ball and the fielder can’t catch up to it, but next ball it’s stumps akimbo, gone for 32. Lubbers still there on 42* off 65, he’s joined by van Molen, who blocks out the over. Looks like Tewarie’s taking matters into his own hands now.
Dosti-United vs Salland 17:27
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 161-4 (34 overs)
Was that an edge? Consensus here is Bharathi ‘s gotten lucky there, put down by Hanoeman who is having an objectively rubbish day with the gloves. Injury to insult, or vice versa for Diwan as he’s cut away through backward point for four a couple of balls later. The game’s probably gone anyway at this point but one worries this might all be affecting Dosti’s collective mood now.
Dosti-United vs Salland 17:17
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 145-4 (31 overs)
Hans sends down five tidy dots and then gives it away on the last, sat up on leg and slapped round the corner for four by Bharathi. Hoseinbaks at the other end now, tidy from him, just one off it. Lubbers on 34* now, just ahead of extras on 33. Diwan replaces Hans.
Dosti-United vs Salland 17:04
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 135-4 (28 overs)
Bhutta replaces Diwan, Dosti need a bag of wickets now really. No runs off the bat but a wide, a no ball and a leg by keeps Ectras in the hunt for top scorer. Hans back at the other end and is creamed wide of long on for four by Bharathi, then through the on side for four more.
Dosti-United vs Salland 16:54
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 118-4 (25 overs)
Bharathi drives Diwan through extra for four, and then insult to injury is dropped next ball in the slips. Dosti can’t afford to be spurning chances at this stage. And again five wides in Ahmad’s next, that’s 28 extras in the innings already.
Dosti-United vs Salland 16:43
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 107-4 (22 overs)
Lubbers strokes Diwan out toward long off for one, but the outfield is playing tricks and a bobble leaves the man out there looking rather silly, through his hands for four.. We shall spare him the naming and shaming as he is commendably rehearsing his long barrier now. Another breakthrough in the next revives the crowd’s flagging interest, full and straight from Ahmad and Khan plays all round it, low into the pads on the full, can’t judge the line of course but it wasn’t going over. Umpire reckons it wasn’t going either side either. Khan gone for 32, Bharathi in to join Lubbers, who’s on 24*.
Dosti-United vs Salland 16:34
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 100-3 (20 overs)
Lubbers looks intent on clubbing the competitive tension right out of this match, rocks back and thumps a short ball from Ahmad over midwicket for a one-bounce four Diwan back at the other end, three largely risk-free singles off him, Salland don’t really need to take chances at this point. Ball slips out early their from Ahmad too and Lubbers has to evade the beamer, keeper misses it to and they run a bye, Khan can only pick out midwicket off the free hit for a tight single, and another quick run to mid on brings up the hundred for Salland in exactly twenty overs..
Dosti-United vs Salland 16:13
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 80-3 (16 overs)
Dosti need to keep finding wickets to make this interesting, because strangling this chase does not look like an option any more. Lubbers drives that point home and the ball through extra on the up off the back foot for four. Fine-looking shot that. Hoseinbaks on the receiving end of it, still Raja from the other side.
Dosti-United vs Salland 16:03
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 64-3 (13 overs)
Bowling change, Raja takes over from Masood and that’s paid off right away. Short and shanked high into the air and Bhutta takes it, tracking back from extra and takes a tricky catch over his shoulder diving back toward the boundary. Victor Lubbers, who had presciently handed off scoring duties to go pad up, joins Khan in the middle.
Dosti-United vs Salland 15:55
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 62-2 (12 overs)
Ask and ye shall receive it seems, Hoseinbaks delivers the breakthrough clean bowling Piyaranga for 23. Ganesan in at four.
Dosti-United vs Salland 15:51
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 61-1 (11 overs)
Hoseinbaks replaces Diwan, but no luck stemming the flow of runs. Masood takes over from Bhutta after the powerplay. Too much width from him though and Khan cuts him away through backward point for four. Wide down leg next ball beats the keeper and that’s fifty up for Salland, Masood then drops short and is pulled through midwicket for four more. The game already drifting away from Dosti here. Wickets needed.
Dosti-United vs Salland 15:42
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 41-1 (9 overs)
Hans into the attack and immediately finds Piyaranga’s outside edge, but it’s through the slips and away for four. The next ball tields the same result, albeit off the face of the bat lifted over extra. Four byes first upin the next as again Diwan evades both bat and gloves, before Khan drives him beautifully through cover for four. Bhutta straight back at the other end.
Dosti-United vs Salland 15:30
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 15-1 (6 overs)
Webber had looked far from comfortable against Diwan, gets him away for a couple through midwicket as he overpitches, but can’t keep the fourth ball out, clean bowled for 3. Tahla Khan in.
Dosti-United vs Salland 15:23
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 13-0 (5 overs)
Couple of singles in Bhutta’s next, and Diwan concedes his first run as Piyaranga comes down the track to drive out to long off. The next is down leg and beats everyone, running to the rope for five wides. The customary LBW appeal in the fifth is followed by four through fine leg as Bhutta loses his line.
Dosti-United vs Salland 15:13
Dosti : 187 all out (49.5 overs)
Salland : 1-0 (2 overs)
And we’re back. Piyaranga and Webber opening for Salland, Bhutta with the new ball for Dosti and a big shout for LBW on Piyaranga first up, no joy though. Bhutta looking pretty quick from here, too much width last ball though and cut late to deep third for one. Spin from the other end as Diwan shares the new ball. Rahil Ahmed under the lid at short leg and takes a blow second ball too, laughs it off though, and claims a one-hand-one bounce two balls later. Maiden over.
Dosti-United vs Salland 14:23
Dosti : 187 all out (49.3 overs)
Bharathi still and Bhutta steps down to him, lofted drive high toward long on, who gets a hand to it but can’t keep it in Lubbers will bowl the last, pace off is the plan it seems, Hoseinbaks rather misses out on a full toss third ball, pulling square for one. Bhutta is done by a bumper two balls later, top edge and Lubbers can take that himself. one ball unused but a decent effort from the Dosti tail. The hosts will feel 200+ was on offer however, and one suspects Salland are the happier side at the break.
Dosti-United vs Salland 14:17
Dosti : 174-9 (48 overs)
Lubbers brings himself back for the death and finds reward, full and wide and Ahmad flashes hard, thick outside edge for a simple catch for Bharathi in the gully. Hoseinbaks last man.
Dosti-United vs Salland 14:12
Dosti : 171-8 (47 overs)
Bharathi still and removes Masood with the first ball of the 47th, on the sweep and misses, struck on the pad and the umpire has to think about it but the finger goes up in the end. Bhutta in and off the mark glancing fine for a couple, but Salland have effectively defused the danger of a big finish here..
Dosti-United vs Salland 14:07
Dosti : 168-7 (46 overs)
Four more. For Hans on the sweep to Bharathi, his skipper on the sidelines worries hemay be getting over-exuberant however. “Bat through! Wait till the last three then you can go!” is the shout. He won’t make it to the last three though, as Nasir castles him in the next over. Hans goes for 33, Ahmad in to join Masood, who’s on 12*.
Dosti-United vs Salland 14:00
Dosti : 160-6 (44 overs)
Bharathi back from the football end now, tidy enough from him, but Nasir is leaking runs at the other end, too much width and cut very late by Masood for four fine of deep third. Goes short three balls later and Hans hooks him high over fine leg for four more.
Dosti-United vs Salland 13:54
Dosti : 145-6 (42 overs)
Diwan looking to keep the momentum going, but that’s a shot too many. Short from Nasir and pulled hard out toward deep square leg, but he’s not got enough of it and Ganesan checks the rope, sets himself and holds it comfortably. Masood in to join Hans, who’s on 20*.
Dosti-United vs Salland 13:44
Dosti : 137-5 (40 overs)
Diwan survives a low catching chance at backward point off Nasir, but otherwise this partnership has looked promising. It’s worth 28 now and the runs are coming in rather quicker time. Ten overs to come, can the hosts get somewhere close to 200? Still Ganesan from the football end.
Dosti-United vs Salland 13:34
Dosti : 126-5 (38 overs)
Another break in play here, Diwan responsible this time having slog-swept Gopinath over the midwicket fence and into the water. Drives Nasir through the covers in the next over, but comfortable though he looks he’s decided Nasir’s just a little too pacey to be facing without a helmet and calls for some headgear. Four more next ball as Nasir strays down leg and is glanced fine. Handy runs for Dosti here. Looks like Ganesan back at the other end now.
Dosti-United vs Salland 13:20
Dosti : 109-5 (36 overs)
Hundred up for Dosti as Raja drives Ganesan hard out wide of long on for four, belated applause for his fifty too as the scoreboard catches up. He won’t get much further though, Fuller from Nasir next over and he playes around it, though him and back goes off stump. Diwan in.
Dosti-United vs Salland 13:11
Dosti : 97-4 (34 overs)
Hans finds the first boundary in almost thirteen overs working Barathi round the corner for four through fine leg, next over Raja takes a knee to Gansean and slog-weeps high and handsome over the rope wide of long on. Left arm spin replaces left arm spin as Gopinath takes over from Barathi, Raja brings up his fifty cutting wide of point for one.
Dosti-United vs Salland 12:59
Dosti : 77-4 (30 overs)
Ahmed’s frustrating season continues, on the sweep to Barathi and sends up a looping top edge that comes down for Lubbers at slip. He goes for just two, Hans in.
Dosti-United vs Salland 12:48
Dosti : 72-3 (27 overs)
Ahmed’s played a bagful of attractive shots since coming to the crease but Salland have been very sharp in the field, .and for all his stroke-making he’s still just got one single to his name. Raja making little more headway at the other end, Barathi and Ganesan keeping it tight.
Dosti-United vs Salland 12:38
Dosti : 61-3 (23 overs)
A delay here as once again there’s trouble with the ball. Has been a consistent problem plaguing the competition this season, KNCB appear to have been stuck with a bad batch. First sign of spin after the extra break, of the southpaw variety as Elam Barathi comes on from the korfball court end. Just one off his first and then a change at the other end too, Ganesan on and finds the breakthrough, Hanoeman caught at cover off his second ball. Rahil Ahmed to the middle to join Raja, who’s on 25*.
Dosti-United vs Salland 12:21
Dosti : 54-2 (20 overs)
Nasir continues after drinks, drops short to Hanoeman and is pulled high over square for four to take the hosts to fifty, then full on leg and flicked away wide of fine leg next ball for four more.. Hanoeman moves from 2 to 10 off 35 balls, Raja on 24* off 50 or so at the other end. Still Khan from the football end.
Dosti-United vs Salland 12:11
Dosti : 46-2 (19 overs)
Hashim Khan on at the football end now, Lubbers sticking with seam for now. It’s been slow going out there, a genuine event when Raga runs Nasir out wide of third for the first two of the game. And suddenly another! Full and pushed out toward long on for two more.
Dosti-United vs Salland 11:50
Dosti : 34-2 (13 overs)
Still the brothers Lubbers for Salland, Raja and Hanoeman have been cautious since the wickets fell, content to pick up the occasional single. Raja comes close to breaking the monotony as he aims a swipe across the line at the Salland skipper, but a thick edge toward fine leg only brings another single. Looks like a bowling change here now though, as Nasir takes over from Reinder at the Korfball court end.
Dosti-United vs Salland 11:35
Dosti : 30-2 (9 overs)
First boundary for Tewarie now, full and straight from Victor Lubbers and a wristy flick lifts it over the man at midwicket and away to the rope. Four more next ball glanced off the toes through fine leg, but Lubbers finds his line on the next, right through Tewarie iand splay the stumps. Tewarie goes for 13, Ghori at three in and gone first ball, half forward and hit on the front pad, can’t judge the line from here but the appeal was very convincing. Hanoeman in and blocks the hattrick ball toward mid on.
Dosti-United vs Salland 11:25
Dosti : 20-0 (7 overs)
First boundary of the day as Reinder loses his line, short on leg stump and glanced fine for four by Raja, who finds the rope again in the next over as Victor offers too much width and is cut away in front of point for four.
Dosti-United vs Salland 11:15
Dosti : 6-0 (4 overs)
Both Lubbers proving tricky to get away, mostly extras in the form of a smattering of wides keeping the scoreboard attendant busy. Raja doubles his score opening the face to thread the gap between point and gully for a single, Tewarie still with just the one to his name.
Dosti-United vs Salland 11:05
Dosti : 1-0 (1 over)
Victor Lubbers takes the new ball himself for the visitors, Vinoo Tewarie to face, opening with Raja. Tewarie off the mark second ball glancing fine off his hip, the over otherwise unblemished. Looks like Reinder Lubbers will share the new ball.
Dosti-United vs Salland 10:45
And the word here is that the hosts have won the toss and elected to bat.
Bertus de Jong 10:44
Good morning all and welcome back, just the one match left in the round and a lovely day for it at Drieburg, where Dosti welcome Salland for what all agree is a “real four-pointer” at the bottom of the Group B table.
Rod Lyall 18:45
Well, that was a pretty remarkable day’s cricket. Two absolute hammerings, Punjab beating HBS by 9 wickets in double-quick time, and VOC beating Excelsior by 222 runs, the fourth-largest margin by runs this century (or, indeed, millennium); a low-scoring victory for Voorburg over VRA; and then two very tight finishes, especially Sparta’s last-ball, last-wicket win against Kampong. And it’s not all over yet: Salland will travel to Sportpark Drieburg tomorrow for the final game of the weekend, against Dosti. We’ll be back to bring you that, but for now, this is Rod Lyall saying goodbye, and go well wherever you may be!
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 18:39
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 212-9 (50 overs)
Dot, then a full toss driven back for one. Bukhari on strike. Eight from four. The next one’s hammered over midwicket for six. Two to win. A sweep for one, and the scores are level. A dot. Scores still level! But Hoornweg drives the last through extra cover and takes the run celebrating. Sparta react as if they’ve just won the World Cup. That was quite a finish! Bukhari finishes on 55*.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 18:34
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 203-9 (49 overs)
The first one’s short, but Bukhari’s pull is a bit top-edgy, and they only get a single. Full and straight, you’d think. But it’s a half-volley, pulled for another single. One off the third as well, but then Van Harten lands his yorker to Ibrahimkhil. Another one, but the batter gets it past the bowler for a single. Nine needed off 7 deliveries. Bukhari swings and misses, Alphonse grabs the ball, Ibrahimkhil comes for the single, Bukhari stands in his crease, Alphonse runs the length of the pitch, and Ibrahimkhil has to go. Nine still needed, and Bukhari’s at the wrong end as Tom Hoornweg comes to the crease.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 18:27
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 199-8 (48 overs)
Ibrahimkhil survives a big LBW appeal, then slice the last ball away for two through backward point. Three off that. 13 off two, with Bukhari on strike against Van Harten.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 18:24
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 196-8 (47 overs)
Just three off Malik’s final over. 16 required off three, two wickets in hand. Bukhari 45*.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 18:21
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 193-8 (46 overs)
At Maarschalkerweerd Noor Raza has gone, caught by Abhyankar off Singh Jhala for 5. Ibrahimkhil in to join Bukhari, who’s on 44* now. This is even more nail-biting than the ACC-HCC game, as Sparta are in danger of clutching defeat from the jaws of victory.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 18:18
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 240-6 (49.4 overs)
Patel picks up his first delivery early and belts it over long on for six. That pretty much settles it, but the game goes into the final over with two still required. Ackermann, characteristically, starts with a bouncer. Patel chases a wideish second delivery, starts for an impossible run, and is beaten by the keeper’s throw. Clayton Floyd comes in with two runs needed from four balls. He turns his first to fine leg for the single that levels the scores. And a push to mid-on by Overdijk sees HCC home.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 18:11
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 231-5 (48.4 overs)
Van Vliet to bowl the penultimate over, with 14 runs needed. Gorlee turns it HCC’s way with a four off the third delivery, Van Vliet grabs it back when Potdar catches the HCC captain at backward point off the fourth. He goes for 79. Yash Patel in to join Overdijk.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 18:07
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 188-7 (43 overs)
Sparta don’t need to hurry here, but they really, really need Bukhari to stay until the end. 24 to get from 7.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 18:03
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 221-4 (47.3 overs)
Pringle skies a heave into the leg side, and Hobson takes a steepling catch. Advantage ACC.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 18:00
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 220-3 (47 overs)
20 off 18 deliveries. Gorlee 72*, Pringle 9*. Ackermann to bowl.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 17:57
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 184-7 (40.2 overs)
Roy gets Ahmadi, caught behind for 13. Debutant Raza Noor joins Bukhari with 28 still required.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 17:56
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 213-3 (46 overs)
Five singles off an Ackermann over keeps ACC’s hopes alive, with 27 needed off four. HCC need boundaries to keep pace with the required rate.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 17:53
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 178-6 (40 overs)
An Ahmadi heave over square leg off Jacod brings Sparta six closer to their target, and at Maarschalkerweerd it’s all about the wickets now. Only 34 needed from ten overs. Bukhari’s on 38*.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 17:49
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 203-3 (44 overs)
Half-century for Gorlee, and he moves rapidly on to 63* as HCC are in a little danger of running out of overs. Still, with wickets in hand, they really should do this.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 17:41
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 180-3 (40.3 overs)
Wicket at ‘t Loopveld as well, with Crowley caught by Chris Knoll on the midwicket boundary for 33. Gorlee still there on 46*, and Pringle, who batted so well in a losing cause last week, is in ahead of Overdijk.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 17:39
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 155-6 (35.4 overs)
Singh Jhala into the attack and he gets the breakthrough: Manminder Singh bowled for 14. Ahmadi in to join Bukhari, who really needs to see his side home. He’s on 29*.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 17:37
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 177-2 (40 overs)
And indeed Gorlee, down on one knee, slog-sweeps Arya over midwicket and into the trees for six. He’s on 45*, with Crowley on 33*. 63 needed off the last ten.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 17:28
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 152-5 (35 overs)
Bukhari and Singh are digging Sparta out of trouble here, with Bukhari now on 28* and Singh on 13*. Kampong again desperate for a wicket.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 17:21
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 162-2 (38 overs)
An expensive Arya over is followed by a more economical one from Van Vliet, but you have to think that unless ACC pick up a couple of wickets soon HCC should win this fairly comfortably, even though they need 78 off the last 12.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 17:1
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 154-6 (40.4 overs)
Abid back, Hingorani pulls him toward the tree, just misses though. Will have to settle for a conventional four to level the scores. Two balls later and that’s down leg. Wide. Done. A few more runs on the board or a couple more wickets and VRA might have been in the game, but in truth they never were. VCC’s depth does the job, Hingorani finishes unbeaten on 13 from 29, van Beek on 57 off 77.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 17:16
VOC 317-6 (50 overs)
Excelsior 95 all out (32.1 overs)
All done at Hazleaarweg though, first ball of the 33rd, Schoonheim back of a length and Baker looks to pull, edged and gone. That’s an absolute shellacking. 222 runs the margin, which must be some sort of record.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 17:14
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 146-6 (40 overs)
Dutt drops short and van Beek pulls him through midwicket for four and fifty, then cuts the next out in front of point for a single. Hingorani blocks out the over. Just a matter of time.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 17:11
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 130-5 (30 overs)
A chance goes begging as Singh top-edges Kumar, back from the University End, but he just can’t take the return catch as it lobs behind him. Sparta need 82 from 20 overs, and Kampong need wickets.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 17:09
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 145-2 (35 overs)
But Gorlee and Crowley continue unperturbed, both now on 22*, and 95 needed off 15 overs as Van Vliet returns.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 17:06
VOC 317-6 (50 overs)
Excelsior 89-9 (29 overs)
Speaking of inevitable results, Excelsior have lost another wicket. Rens van Troost rushed by Schoonheim and a leading edge into the on side where Hoornweg is waiting. Baker last man, a long way to go just to avoid a 200+ run defeat.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 17:04
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 136-6 (37 overs)
This is the trouble with playing VCC this season of course. There’s rarely been a side able to send a bat like Hingorani out at eight. He’s doing a job here, getting van Beek onto strike, who duly punches Singh through long off for four. He’s one away from fifty now, and while VRA have made a game of it the result still looks inevitable.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 16:58
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 125-2 (31.1 overs)
We’ve had some moments of oddness today, but this is right up there: Smith, standing up to Reddy, appears to be struck on the right hand as Crowley chops the ball into the ground. Glove’s off immediately, and there’s a longish delay as he gets treatment. It’s a little hard to see how that could have happened if his hands were behind the stumps. But no no ball is called.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 16:50
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 113-5 (25 overs)
And indeed three: Raza hits Malik for four, but then he skies him to deep mid-off and is caught by Chaturvedi. Life’s never dull when Raza’s batting. Manminder Singh in now, with Sparta in a spot of bother.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 16:49
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 121-6 (34 overs)
Dutt back and immediate reward, VRA keeping things interesting here. Fourth ball and Nieuwoudt just looking to push that out on the off side, nicked and a great low catch from Singh at slip. Hingorani in, van Beek still there on 41* though. Visser still at the other end.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 16:43
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 105-4 (22.4 overs)
One means two at Maarschalkerweerd, as Roy returns and catches the edge from Allen. Alphonse gratefully accepts, and Sparta have two new batters at the crease as Ali Raza joins Bukhari.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 16:40
VOC 317-6 (50 overs)
Excelsior 66-8 (21 overs)
Six for Burhan Niaz, unthreatening pace but jags in off the seam through the gate and Hampton’s gone for 3. This is turning into a proper pasting.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 16:39
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 110-5 (32 overs)
Nieuwoudt steps down to Nashier and puts him away over long on into the water. VCC only need one partnership and it rather looks like this could be it. Visser back in search of the breakthrough.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 16:39
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 110-2 (28 overs)
A big wicket at ‘t Loopveld as well, as Worden is stumped by Smith off Reddy for 53. Damian Crowley in to join Gorlee.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 16:36
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 99-3 (21.1 overs)
Just as I was preparing to remark on how complete a package Gohil appeared to be, batting with all the time in the world, he goes after a Van der Harten delivery wideish outside off and gets the edge through to Alphonse. He goes for 36. Allen’s still there on 23*, and is joined by Bukhari.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 16:35
VOC 317-6 (50 overs)
Excelsior 64-7 (19 overs)
Another down at Hazelaarweg, Luuk Kroesen on the sweep to Seelaar, misses and dead in front. Niels Etman in to join Hampton, who’s on 3 off 13.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 16:31
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 101-1 (25 overs)
Trivia question of the week: who was the last player to begin his career in the Dutch top flight with five consecutive half-centuries? I don’t know the answer, or indeed if it’s been done before. But it’s been done now, as Zac Worden moves on to exactly 50*.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 16:30
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 96-5 (30 overs)
Turmaine brings himself on and almost has a wicket second ball, van Beek back to cut a thick edge through slip. Travelling fast though and while Singh’s got a hand to it he can’t hold on. Still Nashier at the other end.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 16:25
VOC 317-6 (50 overs)
Excelsior 63-6 (17.3 overs)
Three slips in for Niaz now as he bowls to van Troost, but the Belgian only needs Verhagen. On the spot and a feather edge through. He’s got his five-fer.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 16:22
VOC 317-6 (50 overs)
Excelsior 63-5 (17 overs)
Niaz again and that’s the game you’d think, outside off, wild slash, inside edge onto the stumps and Ingram’s gone. Stan van Troost in to join Hampton for a net session.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 16:21
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 92-1 (22 overs)
Anis Raza comes on himself from the Uilenstede End as he shuffles the pack, looking for that first wicket. But Worden and Staal are firmly in control, happy to work the singles and pick up the occasional boundary. But as I write this, Reddy knock over Staal’s leg peg, and he departs for 40. Worden’s still there on 46*, and is joined by Boris Gorlee.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 16:10
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 67-2 (15 overs)
Rikus Allen is in with Gohil now, and they are gradually guiding their side into a solid position. Shashank Kumar, a lively young left-armer, is operating with Van der Harten, with Kampong beginning to be in serious need of a wicket. More particularly, Gohil’s.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 16:05
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 84-5 (23 overs)
Virkam Singh has the breakthrough, Nadeem driving uppishly to cover and caught Balbirnie for 34. Niewuoudt in and miraculously survives an LBW appeal four balls later. Going through the stumps I assume. Van Beek still there on 20. Nashier at the other end.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 15:59
VOC 317-6 (50 overs)
Excelsior 51-4 (12 overs)
Fifty up for Excelsior, but they’ve lost their skipper, Heggelman along the way, caught off Niaz for 19. And now Verhagen goes too, flashing outside off and held low by O’Dowd at a wide slip position and Niaz has two. Joost Kroesen and Ingram in the middle now. Or rather then, as Kroesen is pinned low in front for a three ball duck.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 16:01
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 71-0 (16 overs)
Joseph Reddy on for Arya now. This partnership is beginning to look very dangerous for ACC, with Worden on 34* and Staal on 31*. With plenty of batting to come, HCC are currently well placed.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 15:47
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 57-0 (13 overs)
Robert Ackermann into the attack as well, but Worden’s motoring now, overtaking Staal and moving on to 31*. Staal’s on 20*.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 15:43
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 37-2 (9.4 overs)
Latif is getting into his stride, quickly onto a shorter ball from Roy and pulling it high over backward square for six. But the old fox Usman Malik gets him in the end, as he gets under an onside drive and Abyhankar’s out there to take the catch.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 15:35
VOC 317-6 (50 overs)
Excelsior 41-1 (4 overs)
They’re back on at Hazelaarweg, Etman’s gone early, caught off Jain. But Heggelman is in the middle with Verhagen now and the start has been brisk.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 15:37
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 37-0 (10 overs)
When Hobson gives Worden a bit of width he takes full advantage, easing him through the covers for four. Another maiden from Van Vliet, and Devanshu Arya is on for Hobson from the River End. A fairly solid start from HCC, with Staal now on 19* and Worden on 14*.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 15:27
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 53-4 (14 overs)
Musa drives the hattrick ball in front of point for four, but three balls later another loose drive outside off and a definite inside edge this time, into de Grooth’s stumps and gone. Van Beek in.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 15:28
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 25-0 (7 overs)
Staal clips Van Vliet through point for four, then two balls later clobbers him over wide long on for six. Worden, meanwhile, has picked up a couple of singles.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 15:23
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 16-1 (5 overs)
Gohil takes a few deliveries to settle, then plays a glorious cover drive off Malik to get off the mark with a four. If he gets in here, Kampong could be in serious trouble.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 15:17
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 46-3 (12 overs)
Suddenly looking a bit tougher out there, and tougher still as de Leede goes. Full and straight from Visser, into the pads and no hesitation from the umpire. Potgieter in at four, and gone first ball! Very full on off and Potgieter with a loose swing around it, inside edge maybe? Hard to tell but off stump is pegged back and Tom de Grooth’s in. Visser will be on a hat trick next over, but first an over from Dutt.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 15:16
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 7-0 (4 overs)
No alarums at Het Loopveld, although Worden has, notably, faced 17 deliveries and is yet to get off the mark. Van Vliet yet to concede a run after two overs. ACC building the pressure early on.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 15:13
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 5-1 (1.4 overs)
First blood to Roy, who has Sardha very well caught at first slip by Abhyankar, low and a little to his left. Samit Gohil in at three.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 15:09
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Sparta : 3-0 (1 over)
They’ve started again at Maarschalkerweerd as well, with Usman Malik bowling the first over from the Pavilion End to Sandeep Sardha and Mamoon Latif. Then Alex Roy from the University End.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 15:05
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
HCC : 0-0 (1 over)
Mees van Vliet opens to Zac Worden from the Uilenstede End, with Tonny Staal the non-striker; first over’s a more-than-tidy maiden. Hobson gets the new ball from the other end.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 14:59
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 35-1 (9 overs)
Bit of a gift from Visser to Ahmad, short on leg and just helped round the corner for four. Spin early now as Dutt replaces Abid. And that’s worked out rather well, five dots and Malan reaches to get to the pitch of the last, pops a leading edge back low, Dutt and a fine low catch. Gone in the teens again. Bas de Leede in.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 14:50
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 31-0 (8 overs)
Ahmad and Malan continue their unhurried progress, Ahmad the more proactive of the two, not afraid to throw hands outside off, but just the one boundary for him so far and none for Malan. Not that they need them of course, VRA need wickets soon if they’re to make a game of this.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 14:35
VOC 317-6 (50 overs)
Schoonheim takes a knee and absolutely thumps Hampton over midiwcket for a huge six, next over Durrani shanks the next over long on but enough of it for four. Two balls later and gets all of it, brings up the 300 with a huge hit straight for six. Heggelman takes the ball for the last over, four balls in and Schoonheim goes over the on side and gets just enough of it. Two dots to finish, Schoonheim ends on 26* off 14 and VOC finish on 317-6.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 14:32
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
VCC 9-0 (2 overs)
And they’re back on here, Malan and Musa opening for VCC, Abid and Visser sharing the new ball. Quiet start so far.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 14:28
Kampong : 211 all out (46.2 overs)
Kumar chops Bukhari into his stumps, and Kampong are all out. Wickets shared for Sparta, with Bukhari, Gohil, Ibrahimkhil and Hoornweg picking up two apiece. Considering they were 127 for two, they’ll be a little disappointed with that total, I reckon.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 14:25
VOC 280-6 (47 overs)
Seelaar lifts Etman over the covers for four more, but next ball reaches for a wide one, too high and picks out deep extra cover. Durrani in.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 14:24
ACC 239-6 (50 overs)
Ackermann is bowled by Overdijk off the penultimate ball of the innings, and a single for Aryan Kumar off the last sees ACC to a total they’ll be fairly happy with against one of the better attacks in the competition. Smith remains on 101*, made from 83 deliveries with five fours and six sixes. HCC will need to bat pretty well if they’re to chase this down.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 14:17
VOC 272-5 (46 overs)
Etman back and short, pulled hard, falt and over the man on the rope at midwicket, but that will be the last boundary for de Kok today, Hampton puts one outside off, a little slower, doesn’t really get up and de Kok chops on on the cut for a 71-ball 110. A quite extraordinary innings from him. He’s off to a deserved ovation, Schoonheim replaces him, Seelaar still there on 62 off 61.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 14:17
ACC 236-5 (49 overs)
Pringle gets Knoll, caught by Patel for 12 as he tries to cut. Robert Ackermann joins Smith, who’s still a couple short of his century. Which he proceeds to bring up off the final ball of the over.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 14:12
Kampong : 193-9 (43.2 overs)
Raza gets his fourth catch of the innings, Singh Jhala off Ibrahimkhil this time, and Kampong may not be able to bat out their overs. And then a fifth, as Chaturvedi falls to the same combination. Debutant Shashank Kumar joins Robert van der Harten.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 14:07
VOC 257-4 (44 overs)
Hampton back, de Kok on strike, beats the edge first up, the next is short and pulled high over midwicket for a couple, then bunted toward cover for a single. In the slot to Seelaar and deposited over the onside for six. Single next ball brings de Kok onto strike for the final ball, on the hip and turned to leg, it’s on, they go, comfortable single and that’s Tim de Kok’s first Topklasse hundred and it’s come off just 66 balls.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 14:06
ACC 215-4 (46 overs)
Another at ‘t Loopveld, as Wegener gets under a big drive and Pringle runs to his right to snaffle the catch off his own bowling. Chris Knoll has joined Smith, who smacks Bijloos for six to move to 94*.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 14:01
Kampong : 182-7 (40 overs)
Sparta’s fielding is becoming a bit ropey in the latter stages, not greatly to the pleasure of Bukhari, who has returned from the Pavilion End. But there’s some relief for the Capellenaren when Manminder Singh bowls Jacod for 21.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 14:00
VOC 246-4 (43 overs)
Kroesen drops short and is lifted over extra cover by de Kok, and a misfield brings him four more.. Heggelman comes in for some tapin the next too, but it’s Seelaar dishing it out, scooped over fine leg for four, then two balls later pulled hard and square for a one-bouncer and then slog-swept for four more next ball and then a edge single takes him to 45* of 51 now. Next over and a pair of two’s off Kroesen to start, the second swept round the corner to go to 49* and then dinked into the off side to bring up his half century. De Kok I n the 90s at the other end, makes room to cut hard behind point for four to move to 95, but can’t get the next cleanly, inside edged to leg for a single. He’s on 96*, one hit away.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 13:51
ACC 197-3 (43.1 overs)
And Floyd, in his final over, gets the breakthrough HCC so badly needed: Potdar down on one knee sweeping, and the umpire has no hesitation. Fergus Wegener in to join Smith.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 13:48
VOC 198-4 (39 overs)
De Kok still going, walks down at Hampton and a cross-batted swat flies hard and flat for six onto the football fields, where there are reportedly some shenanigans afoot. De Kok on 77* off 53 now, Seelaar on 23 off 40. Heggelman still at the other end.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 13:47
ACC 197-2 (43 overs)
No more success for HCC at Het Loopveld, though. Potdar has moved on to 59*, his second consecutive half-century, but he’s been overtaken by Smith, who is now on 80*.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 13:46
Kampong : 167-6 (37 overs)
While our attention was on Punjab’s brief chase, Kampong have lost two more wickets: Briggs caught and bowled by Gohil for 53, and Alex Roy leg-before to Ahmadi for 5. Jacod’s still there on 16*, batting now with Shivdutt Singh Jhala.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 13:42
VRA 153 all out (37.2 overs)
150-up for VRA as Abid inside-edges Potgieter fine for four, Lees take three off Ahmad through third next over, but two balls later it’s all done, Abid flicking up to short midwicket and well held, Ahmad finishes with figures of 3-25. VRA all out for 153. Given their start it’s more than they might have expected, but less than they’d have hoped for and a long way from defensible against this VCC line-up you’d think.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 13:42
HBS : 57 all out (21.5 overs)
Punjab : 61-1 (7.2 overs)
Rehmat drives Vink through mid-off for four, then takes a single to level the scores. And when De Mey drops a little short Rehmat hammers him through point to complete a remarkable Punjab victory.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 13:38
VOC 183-4 (37 overs)
Hampton back and de Kok welcomes him with a six dead straight over his head. Next is short and edged for four through slip on the pull. Full next ball and driven beautifully wide of mid off for four more. He’s onto 64* striking at close to 150 through the middle overs. Remarkable innings this.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 13:38
HBS : 57 all out (21.5 overs)
Punjab : 52-1 (6.2 overs)
Myburgh pulls Vink for six, and it takes a moment for the ball to come back from the undergrowth. He skies the next one into the off side, and Mason is under it. He goes for a 21-ball 38, to be replaced by Khogyani.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 13:34
VRA 145-9 (36 overs)
It’s been a fine innings from Nashier in the circumstances, but he won’t make it to fifty, floated up by Ahmad and Nashier looks to flick to leg, leading edge and a good low return catch, gone for 42. Ashir Abid last man, Lees on 17*.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 13:34
HBS : 57 all out (21.5 overs)
Punjab : 46-0 (6 overs)
Ferdi Vink replaces Ryan Klein from the Harbour End, and Myburgh lashes him through cover, uppish but safe and hit very, very hard. Julian de Mey from the Equestrian Centre End starts with an extremely commendable maiden.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 13:31
VOC 169-4 (36 overs)
De Kok gets one on the hip from Etman after drinks and tucks it to leg to bring up his fifty, handy knock after a tough start to the season from him. Seelaar into the twenties now too, pulling Etman hard behind square for four.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 13:29
HBS : 57 all out (21.5 overs)
Punjab : 41-0 (4 overs)
Rehmat joins the party with six eased over square leg off Kyle, then a push through mid-on for four.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 13:25
VOC 161-4 (35 overs)
Joost Kroesen into the attack, De Kok drives him straight for a single to bring up the 150 for VOC. First ball of Kroesen’s next he drops short and is hammered away over midwicket by de Kok, who then sweeps for one to go to 49*, where he will have to stay over drinks.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 13:25
HBS : 57 all out (21.5 overs)
Punjab : 31-0 (3 overs)
Myburgh seems intent on doing it on his own: two more boundaries from Kyle Klein, then a six over square leg and a punch through the covers off the first two balls of Ryan’s next. Punjab halfway there in eighteen deliveries.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 13:21
VRA 135-8 (33 overs)
TNashier and Lees still battling out there, they’ve taken the hosts to 135 by what is now a very welcome drinks break. It is getting a bit hot out there. Nashier on 40* now and an indispensable innings for the day’s play that. Lees with him on 9*. Still a long way from a competitive score, but the risk of a pre-lunch finish has at least abated.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 13:19
HBS : 57 all out (21.5 overs)
Punjab : 10-0 (1 over)
They’re back at ‘t Zomercomplex, the brothers Klein opening to Rehmat Zulfiqar and Myburgh. The latter starts by driving Ryan through mid-off for four, repeating the dose with a rather agricultural version through extra cover next ball. Punjab do not intend to delay this long.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 13:18
Kampong : 146-4 (30 overs)
More drama at Maarschalkerweerd, as Tom Hoornweg is no-balled and removed from the attack for bowling a beamer, presumably his second. Mamoon Latif gets to complete the over, including the free hit from the no ball.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 13:10
VOC 143-4 (31 overs)
Ingram bowled out now, finishes with figures of 3-25. Rens van Troost at the other end. De Kok’s onto 40* off 29 now, Seelaar playing a supporting role on 6 off 17.

Alphonse doesn’t last long, as he gets a thick edge to Hoornweg and Raza takes a great one-handed catch low to his right. First-class keeping. Pierre Jacod in at six, with Briggs on 52*.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 13:02
Kampong : 134-3 (27 overs)
Thomas Hoornweg on from the University End for Sparta, and he gets Malik caught behind by Raza for 28. Briggs, however, continues, lofting Gohil over midwicket for four and then pushing a single to bring up his fifty. Ratha Alphonse is his new partner.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 13:00

VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 12:48
VOC 111-4 (25 overs)
No sign of nerves from de Kok despite his recent dry spell, steps down to Baker and thumps him back straight and high for six to take VOC to three figures, then steps away for room and cuts away square for four more. Nelson on the board, and Nelson strikes! And the big wicket too, Ingram offers a little width but O’Dowd plays for turn that’s not there, chopped onto the stumps and gone for 37. Seelaar in.

Kampong vs Sparta 1888 12:38
Kampong : 109-2 (22 overs)

VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 12:30
VRA 81-6 (18 overs)
Too full outside off from Potgieter and and Balbirnie lashes it through point for four, follows it up with a lovely drive through extra but the outfield still a little sluggish, so just a couple. Boissevain into the attack.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 12:29
HBS : 46-8 (17.3 overs)
The Zomercomplex game is like a spoiled toddler: every time you turn elsewhere, it demands your attention again. Now it’s Ashiqullah Said who replaces Salarazai at the Harbour End, and with a full first delivery bowls Ryan Klein for 6. Benno Boddendijk lasts two balls before he’s leg-before. Stephan Vink in at ten.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 12:28
VOC 89-1 (20 overs)
Spin at both ends now, Baker and Ingram operating for Excelsior and keeping things tight, but Fourie finds his first boundary backing away for room and guiding Ingram behind point to the rope. He’s into double figures, O’Dowd on 35 off 45 and calls for a change of headgear. Batting in a white floppy now. You love to see it.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 12:23
ACC 69-2 (20.4 overs)
Another wicket for Venter, who’s switched to the Uilenstede End and gets Hobson for 31, cutting at one which was too close to him and caught by Staal at point. Robin Smith in to join Potdar.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 12:15
HBS : 44-6 (15 overs)
Time for a drink at ‘t Zomercomplex, with De Mey finally getting off the mark with a well-timed drive to the cover boundary. Tariq has three for 20 from eight overs, Salarazai the same figures from one over fewer. They’ve given almost nothing away, and maintained the pressure relentlessly.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 12:14
VRA 62-6 (14 overs)
Balbirnie gives the home fans something to cheer for as he drives Potgieter handsomely through long on for the four on the last ball before drinks, but this pair will have to bat long if the spectators are to get their money’s worth today.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 12:08
VRA 49-6 (13 overs)
And Singh’s been trying to hold the innings together, but they’ll have to muddle on without him now, leading edge off Nieuwoudt loops up for Musa Ahmad at mid on, who makes no mistake. Nashier in.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 12:08
ACC 58-1 (17 overs)
Clayton Floyd on now for Bijloos, but no further wicket for HCC, with Hobson (28*) and Potdar (9*) steadily building a platform.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 12:04
VOC 76-1 (15 overs)
Hampton strikes, and it’s the in form Edwards that goes, quicker and Edwards is half-forward, takes the edge and Verhagen clings on. Edwards goes for 37, Fourie in at three to join O’Dowd, who’s on 29*.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 12:02
Kampong : 61-2 (14 overs)
Gohil has the adhesive Abhyankar leg-before for 14, and Usman Malik joins Briggs in the middle.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 11:59
HBS : 39-6 (11.3 overs)
You can’t afford to turn your back on ‘t Zomercomplex for a moment, because Barresi has skied a lofted drive off Tariq, and is caught by Saqib Zulfiqar coming in from the gully. Then, in the next over, Navjit has his stumps almost completely demolished by Salarazai, falling flat on his face as he tries to deal with a yorker. That made it 36-5, but now Kyle Klein has gone as well, caught by a Zulfiqar (one suspects Saqib again) at backward point. Julian de Mey in to join Ryan Klein. It’s fair to point out that 14 of the runs are from extras.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 11:53
VRA 38-5 (10 overs)
Potgieter into the attack and down goes another, full and Dutt plays right over it and loses middle stump. Balbirnie in and and blocks out the over, another wicket maiden.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 11:51
Kampong : 46-1 (11 overs)
Still a lot of grumpiness at Maarschalkerweerd, Bukhari making his feelings all too evident when a leg-before appeal against Briggs is turned down. Samit Gohil to succeed Ahmadi from the University End.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 11:48
VOC 57-0 (11 overs)
Hampton into the attack and almost has the breakthrough, O’Dowd down the track and flashing at it, nicked high and wide of Verhagen who goes one handed but can’t hold on. Edwards brings up the fifty in less than convincing style, edging Heggelman across his stumps for four.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 11:45
ACC 36-1 (11 overs)
Henrico Venter replaces Overdijk from the River End and immediately has Raza leg-before for 10. Shreyas Potdar joins Hobson, who’s on 19*. Bijloos to continue from the Uilenstede End.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 11:43
VRA 34-4 (8 overs)
And there’s the inevitable run out to punctuate the collapse, Smal top-edging van Beek high into the on side, drops safe but Smal’s coming back for a second and Singh’s not moved. Nor will he, as Smal changes course to walk to the pavilion. Dutt in.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 11:41
HBS : 35-3 (8 overs)
While that was going on Tariq removed Mason, straightforwardly caught at slip by Teja Nidamanuru for 2. Navjit Singh has joined Barresi, who’s now on 19* from 12.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 11:39
VRA 31-3 (7 overs)
Too full from Kingma and Smal drives him out square right toward his teammates sat behind the point boundary. Three men after it, near run thing on the rope, VCC think they’ve pulled it back but loud remonstrations from the VRA bench change their minds. Kingma still struggling with his line five wides in that over in the end. Extras leading the scoring at the minute.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 11:36
Kampong : 35-1 (8.4 overs)
A moment of drama at Maarschalkerweerd, where Sparta are convinced Ahmadi’s got Abhyankar, chasing one down the leg side. So convinced that they appeal only belatedly, and can’t believe it when the appeal’s turned down. They get some compensation three balls later, when Butt’s caught behind by Raza off Bukhari for 20, but the discussions go on. Cole Briggs enters the maelstrom at three.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 11:35
VOC 42-0 (8 overs)
Six more for O’Dowd as Etman drops short to him now and slapped away over the on side. He’s on 23 now at a run a ball, Edwards with him still on 15*.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 11:31
HBS : 27-2 (6 overs)
Consecutive fours for Barresi off Salarazai take him to 17* from nine deliveries, with Mason (1* from 17) still the soul of watchfulness at the other end. HBS need a big knock from the former international here!
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 11:26
VRA 20-3 (5 overs)
And another for Kingma, Rasool flashing outside off, thick edge and held at second slip by van Beek. Johan Smal in and VRA in all sorts of trouble. Singh still there on 11* .
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 11:25
Kampong : 24-0 (6 overs)
A steady start by Kampong at Maarschalkerweerd as well: Sherry Butt has been pushed up to open, and he’s on 10*, with Abhyankar on 7*. Bukhari and Ahmadi sharing the new ball for Sparta.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 11:20
ACC 23-0 (4 overs)
Solid start by ACC, Thomas Hobson hitting three boundaries to go to 13*, with Anis Raza on 6*. Overdijk and Bijloos looking for the breakthrough for HCC.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 11:19
VOC 28-0 (4 overs)
Van Troost short to O’Dowd and thrashed through the on side for four. Heggelman brings himself on, drops a little short on fourth stump and is slammed over midwicket for four by O’Dowd first ball. Two balls later and overpitched, put away through the off side for four more. Good start for the home side.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 11:18
VRA 12-2 (3 overs)
Singh hits back with a cracking cover drive for four off Kingma, but two balls later Kingma swings one into Khan’s pads, finger up and VRA in early trouble. Rasool in.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 11:17
HBS : 4-2 (3.3 overs)
And another, as Walbrugh goes third ball, trapped in front by Salarazai. Wesley Barresi joins Mason.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 11:14
HBS : 3-1 (3 overs)
Still no run off the bat at ‘t Zomercomplex, and now Vink has gone, lofting Tariq rather half-heartedly to Khogyani at mid-off. Tayo Walbrugh again at the crease earlier than he might like.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 11:11
VRA 7-1 (2 overs)
Singh and Visser opening for VRA here, Kingma takes the new ball and a little wayward early, couple of wides in there and seven off it in the end. Logan van Beek now for the first time this season and doesn’t take long to make an impact, Visser steps down to him and a big swing, edged behind and gone. Wicket maiden. Zaman Khan at three.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 11:05
HBS : 1-0 (1 over)
Suleiman Tariq begins as usual from the Equestrian Centre End, bowling to Reece Mason. Ferdi Vink standing in for Visée at the other end. Just a wide off the first. Safiullah Salarazai from the Harbour End.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 11:03
VOC 9-0 (1 over)
And they’re underway at Thurlede, Niels Etman takes the new ball, Edwards and O’Dowd opening, and a brisk start for the visitors as Edwards finds the first boundary off the third ball, flicking Etman behind square for four. Rens van Troost from the other end. No Pierce Fletcher for the visitors today, carrying a shin injury we’re told by the man himself. He’s retired to the comms box in the company of none other than Spain head coach Corey Rutgers.
ACC Amsterdam vs HCC 11:00
ACC ( overs)
ACC are batting first at Het Loopveld after Boris Gorlee again won the toss.
Punjab Rotterdam vs HBS 10:47
HBS : ( overs)
Not sure who won the toss at the Zomercomplex, but HBS will bat. They’re missing the injured Gavin Kaplan and Tobias Visée, who has to work.
Kampong vs Sparta 1888 10:41
Kampong ( overs)
Mudassar Bukhari has called correctly at Maarschalkerweerd and invited Kampong to bat first.
VOC vs Excelsior ‘20 10:37
VOC ( overs)
At the Hazelaarweg Pieter Seelaar has won the toss and elected to have a bat.
VRA Amsterdam vs Voorburg 10:33
Word here is that VRA have the toss and will bat first. Leon Turmaine standing in as skipper for Peter Borren today, the latter indisposed. No Luke Scully either, Zaman Khan and Jack Balbirnie back in the side. Logan van Beek also returns for VCC, otherwise no surprises.
Bertus de Jong 10:15
Good Morning everyone, or good other time of day or night as appropriate to your location. It’s morning here at the Amsterdamse Bos anyway, and a rather fine one too. I’m here to bring you the action from this Group B clash between VRA and VCC, with the hosts looking to break the Voorburgers’ winning streak. Still about fifteen minutes from the toss, so plenty of time to peruse the preview.
Rod Lyall 10:15
Good morning etc., everyone, and once again welcome to our live coverage of a busy Saturday of Topklasse action. There will, of course, be lots of interest in the top-of-the-table clash in Group A between Punjab and HBS, and I’ll be following that closely, along with the other two matches in the group. Bertus de Jong will be looking at the no less significant meeting of VRA and Voorburg in the Amsterdamse Bos, along with today’s other Group B game between VOC and Excelsior, which is an absolute must-win for the Rotterdam side. They’ll be tossing, as ever, in about a quarter of an hour or so, and we’ll bring you the news as we get it.
