 Bertus de Jong  19:16
Well that was a wild ride at the end there, Kuldeep Diwan, reprieved on the rope, got Dosti outrageously close to an impossible upset. Admittedly the non-functioning scorecard may have made it look closer than it was, VOC closing out the win by a twenty-plus run margin, but while Diwan was clearing the ropes at the death they looked in real danger. Not sure anyone would have picked that to be the closest game of the day, though Kampong’s 2-wicket upset victory over Punjab does probably pip it on that front. The vagaries of the format this season unfortunately mean Kampong will likely benefit little from that win unless they could somehow make the top three, but a remarkable show nonetheless. Progression from Group A now looks firmly in the hands of Punjab, HBS and HCC, while on the other side of the draw VCC march on, while VRA’s demolition of Salland takes them clear of Excelsior and VOC in the race for the other two slots. A remarkable day’s cricket all told, and of course we’ve another coming up on Thursday already. Do join us again then, but for now this is Bertus de Jong signing off from my own sofa.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  18:59
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 247-9 (50 overs)
Outside off, left alone, okay says the umpire, lots required off three. Into the pads, brushed to leg, no run. Must be impossible now? Well now it surely is. Diwan holes out to long on for a hundred and some, Dosti still need twenty or so off the last ball I think. It goes nowhere.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  18:56
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 247(?)-8 (49.2 overs)
First ball of the last is in the slot and six it is. By my estimate they need one of those every ball. Or wides, and that’s what the next is outside off. And again. And slot. And six. This is getting silly. 20 or so needed off four balls possibly?

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  18:56
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 233-8 (49 overs)
Seelaar back and Diwan launches him over the midwicket rope third ball, then puts a full toss away through extra. Then another slog-swept over the on side. Then drives for one, I reckon that’s his century. 233-8 the total by my count. Diwan on stike, looks like Hoornweg still.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  18:51
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 218-8 (48 overs)
Well what’s happened here? Full on the pads from Hoornweg and Diwan’s hit that hard but far from cleanly, high and away into the on side, and we have little clue what’s happened exactly. My guess is van Wingerden’s taken it on the rope and nobody knows if it’s six or out. Lots of chat, Diwan is asking but apparently not getting a concrete answer. Seems he’s going to get the benefit of the doubt after all as the umpire raises both arms and Diwan remains at the crease. The scorers appear to have given up in frustration at the whole business.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  18:43
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 208-8 (47 overs)
So back to Hazelaarweg, where Masood has just been bowled on the sweep by a profoundly bored-looking Pieter Seelaar. Diwan’s still there on 76* though, and he’s taken Dosti past 200 for the first time in what I estimate to be several hundred years. Hoseinbaks with him, Hoornweg from the other end, 61 needed off three overs.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  18:37
Excelsior : 180-9 (50 overs)
VCC : 184-6 (46.4 overs)
Full toss from Hampton is clubbed over long on for four, next ball is short and van Beek pulls it away square for four more. Two to get, Heggelman back. Ahmad, who’s quitely played a handy little innings, punches one back past him for a single to go to 18*. Two balls later and it’s done, full and driven through cover for four and the game. Van Beek finishes on a match-winning 70*, and VCC’s batting depth sees them survive another scare.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  18:33
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 194-7 (44 overs)
Diwan still playing like Dosti have a chance, slogs Schoonheim over deep midwicket for six, gives van Wingerden similar treatment in the next. He’s on 65 off 49.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  18:27
Excelsior : 180-9 (50 overs)
VCC : 168-6 (45 overs)
Hampton back and milked for singles, Excelsior just can’t find a way through here, not that there seems to be any effort to. Nothing around the bat, field spread, easy singles everywhere. Four more off van Troost’s next and then a no ball, van Beek takes two off the free hit out to the cover sweeper.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  17:57
Excelsior : 180-9 (50 overs)
VCC : 156-6 (43 overs)
Picket fence off Etman in the 42nd, Van Troost back, overpitched on the third and driven through the covers for four by van Beek to go to fifty.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  18:13
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 155-7 (40 overs)
Diwan loses another partenr, full toss from Shoonheim hits Ghori high on the pad but dipping and there’s little doubt. Masood in.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  17:57
Excelsior : 180-9 (50 overs)
VCC : 143-6 (41 overs)
Plenty of #intent being shown by van Beek and Ahmad, taking five off Ingram in the 41st through some rather aggressive running. Etman from the other end, they need about than 4 an over.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  18:03
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 143-6 (38 overs)
Raji goes, squared up and nicked off by Schoonheim. Ghori in with Diwan, who is on a carefree 26 off 23.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  18:02
HCC : 260 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 116 all out (34 overs)
Overdijk puts the game out of its misery in the space of two balls, Gohil slogging and send up a huge leading edge, Klaus under it we think and goes for 57. Saleem next ball falls to the same combination, Sparta all out for 116.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  17:57
Excelsior : 180-9 (50 overs)
VCC : 135-6 (38 overs)
In the one game that could still get interesting, Ingram’s got Niewoudt a few overs ago, flashing wide and top-edging toward gully, Luuk Kroesen quickly round from backward point to take the catch. Shariz Ahmad in with van Beek now, who’s on 39*. Englebrecht, Hingorani, Boissevain and Kingma still to come, 46 runs to get.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  17:53
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 132-5 (35 overs)
Dosti closing in on the half-way mark now but this game’s also only going one way. Diwan and Raji in the middle having a net.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  17:52
HCC : 260 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 113-8 (33 overs)
Back to the going games and Sparta continue to slide, two wickets for Ollie Klaus. Gohil got his fifty but it’s going to be in a losing cause.

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:50
Punjab : 145 all out (49.2 overs)
Kampong : 146-8 (40.4 overs)
Saqib back, too full and swept around the corner by van Harten for a couple, the next is dinked into the on side for one, then Roy lofts him back just out of reach for a hard-run three. Two runs needed, wide, cut and they’ll get them. Both bats end unbeaten on 36*, won’t see many better 9th wicket partnerships than that. Huge upset win for the hosts, albeit one that may not have a huge impact on the season.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs ACC  17:45
ACC : 199-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 203-1 (43.2 overs)
Barresi whips McInerney away off the toes to seal the win, he finishes unbeaten on 91 from 142, Walbrugh 105 from 116. A comprehensive nine-wicket win for the Crows..

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:42
Punjab : 145 all out (49.2 overs)
Kampong : 134-8 (39 overs)
Roy and van Harten still working the ones and twos, on 29* and 31* respectively, this has been a fantastic partnership under pressure.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs ACC  17:40
ACC : 199-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 197-1 (42 overs)
Dragged short by McInerney and Walbrugh takes a knee to pull square, finds the rope and that’s his ton. Barresi drives straight for four two balls later to go to 85*, but there’s just three left to get.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  17:36
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 106-4 (30 overs)
Seelaar brings himself on and elicits a leading edge from Tewarie with his second ball, De Kok holds itt somewhere on the on side and gone for 36. Next over van Wingereden has Amitoze Singh caught in the deep. Hans and Diwan now, facing a stiff T20 target.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  17:27
Excelsior : 180-9 (50 overs)
VCC : 119-5 (31 overs)
Baker and Etman now looking to do something about this partnership, which is one short of fifty now. Van Beek and Nieuwoudt batting the hosts back into a rather more comfortable position. 62 to get, 19 overs to get them.

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:02
Punjab : 145 all out (49.2 overs)
Kampong : 122-8 (35 overs)
Yeah guessing Punjab are getting nervous now…

 HBS Craeyenhout vs ACC  17:22
ACC : 199-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 168-1 (38 overs)
Barresi and Walbrugh still cruising, Barresi on 77*, Wlabrugh on 85*. No space for them both to ton up and looks like they know it.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  17:19
HCC : 260 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 76-6 (23 overs)
Scratch that, Malik caught off Venter, Ibrahimkhil in with Gohil now.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  17:15
HCC : 260 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 70-5 (22 overs)
Clayton Floyd has done a number on the Sparta middle order. Allen drives straight to mid on after a belaboured 2 off 21, Bukhari Lbw two balls later, and then Singh edging tamely to slip. Ahsan Malik in with Gohil now, who’s still there on 30*.

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:02
Punjab : 145 all out (49.2 overs)
Kampong : 99-8 (30 overs)
How long do van Harten and Roy. Have to bat before Punjab start getting worried again? 145 is still a one-partnership total, though generally you don’t want to leave it to the ninth wicket to find it. Both bats in the teens now, 47 needed off the last 20 overs, or, more realistically, two wickets.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  16:58
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 67-2 (19 overs)
Schoonheim breaks the partnership, Paja going back to one he probably shouldn’t have and pinged in front. Amitoze Singh in to join Tewarie, who’s on 23. Dosti a good ways off the pace here, 202 needed off 31 overs.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs ACC  16:51
ACC : 199-6 (50 overs)
HBS : 123-1 (29 overs)
Fifty for Barresi now too, he and Walbrugh look intent on finishing this themselves. Van Vliet and Knoll looking for the breakthrough, in vain thus far.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  16:47
Excelsior : 180-9 (50 overs)
VCC : 81-5 (21 overs)
Anoether leg-side stumping and it’s de Leede that’s gone, Verhagen smartly across as van Troost starys down leg and gets a wicket for it. Nieuwoudt in to join van Beek. Half the team in the pavilion and still 100 runs needed.

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  16:45
Punjab : 145 all out (49.2 overs)
Kampong : 76-8 (26 overs)
Wheels coming off for Kampong now as Said bowls Alphonse swiping across the line and three overs later Zulfiqar floats one into Singh Jhala’s pads and draws the finger. Van Harten in with Roy.

VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 55-1 (15 overs)
Fifty up for Dosti as Hoornweg oversteps andTewarie misses out on the free hit but puts the next ball away through the on side for four. He’s on 19* now, Raja on 28*.

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  16:25
Punjab : 145 all out (49.2 overs)
Kampong : 67-6 (22 overs)
Double strike from Saqib Zulfiqar puts Punjab back on top, Briggs chasing a wide one and caught first slip, Jacod in and pinned LBW two balls later. Roy joins Alphonse and still a long way to go.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  16:20
HCC : 260 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 35-2 (7 overs)
Sparta lose another, Raza unbalanced on the pull to Overdijk and skies it into the deep on the on side but well short of the rope., Klaus is under it and gone for 16. Rikus Allen joins Gohil.

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  16:15
Punjab : 145 all out (49.2 overs)
Kampong : 66-4 (20 overs)
Briggs and Alphonse look to have put the shock of early wickets behind them, Kampong only really need one partnership here. Could this be it? It’s worth 29 now, Briggs on 28*, Alphonse on 28*. Said into the attack.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs ACC  16:13
ACC : 199-6 (50 overs)
HBS :90-1 (20 overs)
Walbrugh goes to fifty reverse-sweeping Arya for four behind point, and Barresi cuts hard for four more two balls later. HBS cruising now.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  16:10
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
Dosti : 23-1 (6 overs)
All action at Hazleaarweg, Ahmed and Raja opening for Dosti and the latter takes Niaz for 16 runs in the fifth, but Jain strikes in the next as Ahmed picks out Hoornweg at deep midwicket. Tewarie at three.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  16:04
Excelsior : 180-9 (50 overs)
VCC : 56-4(12 overs)

HCC : 260 all out (50 overs)
Sparta : 13-1 (2 overs)

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  15:45
Punjab : 145 all out (49.2 overs)
Kampong : 43-4 (13 overs)
Salarazai again, and a big wicket too, fourth stump line and jags back in, van Biljon was shaping to leave and pads up outside off, no stroke offered and the umpire think’s that’s hitting. Alphonse in.

ACC : 199-6 (50 overs)
HBS :36-1 (6 overs)
And ACC have a quick wicket too, Mason smartly stumped off a leg-side wide from van Vliet. Walbrugh’s going nicely at the other end though, he’s on 28 off 24, with Wes Barresi for company.

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  15:25
Punjab : 145 all out (49.2 overs)
Kampong : 21-3 (8 overs)
Well Punjab needed early wickets , and they’ve three of them already. Salazarai puts his first ball full fast and straight through Sherry Butt into the stumps, before Abhyankar steps down to Tariq three overs later to go high and straight but not long enough. Salazarai then bags his second, top of off and Malik plays around it. Briggs and the long-awaited van Biljon in.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  15:13
HCC : 260 all out (50 overs)
Malik gets Pringle with three balls to go, very slow yorker dips under the swing and into the base of the stumps and gone 9 short of a ton. Ollie Klaus in and slapped into the off side, bit of a mis up and run out. Last man Floris de Lange comes out to face the last ball, and as team hattrick to close as he’s run out too. 261 will be the target.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  15:10
VOC : 268-4 (50 overs)
…And run it up they duly do, O’Dowd taking Singh for back-to-back sixes in the 49th on his way to an unbeaten 130 off 165, Schoonheim chipping in a ten-ball eleven and 268-4 the total, which should be plenty .

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  15:03
HCC : 249-7 (47 overs)
Floyd goes for a run-a-ball 48, And Pringle loses another partner in the next over, Malik slow full outside off and Floyd chopping it onto the stumps and another down next over, Ahmadi shaping it away and Patel swinging down the wrong line, nicked and well taken by the keeper.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  15:01
VOC : 235-4 (48 overs)
O’Dowd goes to hundred working Diwan away to leg for a hard-run two, no boundaries in the over but seven off it. Twelve balls left to run up the score…

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  14:54
VOC : 219-4 (46 overs)
Tim de Kok has come in and done his thing, or rather one of his two things. In this case the tonking it thing rather than the getting out immediately thing. Tewarie gets dumped over his head and over the scoreboard in the 44th, Masood then gets to watch him take a knee and club it over long on for six in the next. Diwan does however bowl him round his legs in the next over, completing a most entertaining 20-ball innings that yielded 30 runs. Schoonheim in, O’Dowd still there just two shy of a ton.

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  14:35
HCC : 208-5 (43 overs)
Short from Ahmadi and sits up for Pringle, who swivels on his heels to pull that away for six. He’s on to 77* now, Floyd still with him on 32*.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  14:34
VOC : 174-3 (40 overs)
Bit of rip from Tewarie and rushes through Jain into off stump. Lovely ball that but there’s no celebrations. Not the wicket they wanted and a little late either way. De Kok in to join O’Dowd, who is on 82*.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  14:25
Excelsior : 180-9 (50 overs)
Kingma ends Stan van Troost’s impressive innings of 37 off 48 in the final over, holding on to a hefty top edge himself to claim his second wicket. Umar Baker last man and Excelsior scape their way to 180-9 at the break. Unlikely to be enough against this VCC side but something to bowl at at least.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs ACC  14:24
ACC : 199-6 (50 overs)
Kyle Klein’s excellent figures of 0-13 in 9 are rather spoiled in the final over, giving up 10 runs to finish with the merely very good 0-23 in 10. Ought to have had a wicket really but Ackermann was put down deep in the onside and the ball rolls over the rope. HBS will need 200 exactly for the points after lunch.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  14:20
Excelsior : 166-8 (48 overs)
Van Beek brought back with immediate effect, clean bowls Etman for 10. Stan van Troost still there on 31*, Rens van Troost in with him now for the last two overs.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs ACC  14:04
ACC : 160-6 (44 overs)
Knoll holes out to deep backward square off Barresi looking to force the pace, and two balls later McInerney follows him to the shed, lofted straight to de Mey on the long on rope. Kumar and Ackermann in now.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  13:42
Excelsior : 138-7 (42 overs)
Kroesen goes, caught on the sweep at deep backward square by Musa Ahmad off the bowling of his little brother Shariz. Niels Etman in.

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:51
Punjab : 130-8 (45 overs)

 HBS Craeyenhout vs ACC  13:44
ACC : 150-4 (40 overs)

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  13:28
HCC : 136-4 (28 overs)

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  13:24
VOC : 91-1 (20 overs)
First wicket down at Hazlelaarweg, Edwards looking to slog sweep Hans and sends up a big top edge behing square and safely held. He goes for 37. Durrani in, O’Dowd still there on 39*.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  13:23
Excelsior : 108-5 (33 overs)

 HCC vs Sparta 1888  12:13
HCC : 111-3 (24 overs)
Crowley and Pringle still for HCC, they’ve done a decent job too though the early momentum has rather crept out of the innings. Saleem and Gohil in tandem for Sparta now.

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:10
Punjab : 111-6 (35 overs)
Punjab lose another, Sikander narrowly gets away with a top edge off van Harten as the leaping Alphonse can only palm it up behind the stumps, but Jacod gets a wicket with a much worse ball soon after, Tariq chasing one that’s short and wide outside off but can only toe-end it to deep point. Salarazai in.

 Salland vs VRA Amsteram  12:54
Salland : 36 all out (? overs)
VRA : 37-3 (4.2 overs)
All over at Deventer. VRA managed to lose three wicket in the chase but it won’t bother them much. Singh unbeaten on 28 gets them home inside five overs. Hardly worth the drive over, that.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  13:03
Excelsior : 86-3 (28 overs)
Fifty partnership for Ingram and Kroesen, the latter celebrates by swinging a drag-down from Boissevain away over the midwicket fence for six. Shariz Ahmad at the other end.

 Salland vs VRA Amsteram  12:54
Salland : 36 all out (? overs)
VRA : 28-1 (? overs)
VRA not wasting any time, they’ve lost Visser for a duck but it’s not slowed them. Singh and Dutt in the middle and almost there already.

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  12:52
VOC : 53-0 (11 overs)
Edwards and O’Dowd have begun to accelerate now, the latter bringing up the fifty partnership with a big staright six off Masood in the 11th over. Both bats in the twenties now.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs ACC  12:49
ACC : 91-3 (26 overs)
ACC had been becalmed since the wicket, but when Vink serves on in the slot Hobson’s not going to miss out. Creamed over long on and into the bushes. Barresi from the other end and strikes back for HBS, Hobson down the track and can’t clear Ferdi Vink at long on this time, he goes three short of fifty. McInerney in at five.

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  12:43
Punjab : 88-5 (27 overs)
Punjab in some trouble now, Saqib gets a shorter ball from Roy that tails back into him, gloved through looking to cut and gone for 9. Tariq in.

Nidamanuru looks to hit out after a comparatively constrained innings, trying to launch Jacod over long on but doesn’t get enough of it, holes out for 8. Sikander joins Saqib in the middle.

 Voorburg vs Excelsior ’20  12:35

They’re underway at de Diepput, Worden and Staal setting a brisk pace too. Malik and Ahmadi share the new ball for Sparta, the former serving Staal one that sits up on off stumo and is clubbed over mid-wicket for a one-bouncer. Salland : 13-5 (6 overs)
Some clarification: that’s three wickets for Ashir Abid; Ranjendram LBW, Victor Lubbers caught behind and Hashim Khan bowled. Two for Visser; Gopinath and van der Molen gone too. It’s Ginsburg and Nasir in the middle now trying to slavage the innings, or at least it was when we last had word. It’s a rapidly evolving situation as they say.

ACC : 29-1 (9 overs)
One down at Craeyenhout now too, nice ball from Vink, top off off just a bit of nip away, Razxa poking at it on the back foot and nicked behind. Potdar joins Hobson in the middle.

 Kampong vs Punjab Rotterdam  11:10
Punjab : 2-1 (2 overs)
Early wicket at Utrecht, and it’s a big one. First ball from Usman Malik offers width, Myburgh on the cut but it’s uppish and held at deep point by Briggs, Myburgh gone for a first ball duck. Asad Zulfiqard joins his eldest brother at the wicket.

 HBS Craeyenhout vs ACC  11:02

 VOC Rotterdam vs Dosti  10:27
It seems Hazelaarweg will still need some drying time. Delayed start there due to a damp pitch.

 Bertus de Jong  10:26
Morning everyone, and against all odds it does look a lovely one. No sign of the heavy rain that’s been afflicting the Netherlands all week, though we’ll have to see how all the grounds around have weathered the weather. The good professor Lyall is off doing professorly things this weekend, so afraid you’ll have to make do with me in the TK Media centre. Hope to have some toss news for you all shortly, in the meantime here’s our preview for the round.
