Bertus de Jong 17:15
And that’s a wrap for the round, a comfortable win for VRA in the end, Borren and Scully getting them well ahead of the game and Dosti never getting back into it. Won’t hurt VRA’s net run rate any either, which could prove significant in a couple of weeks’ time. Dosti meanwhile look increasingly likely to head into the relegation fight without any points to their name, though they have matches against Exclesior and crucially Salland at the end of Phase one to improve their position before the relegatioin battle royale begins. We’ll be back for the final two rounds of Phase One after the Windies series. That kicks off on Tuesday of course, hope to see you there.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 17:12
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 219-5 (37 overs)
Balbinrie sweeping again, top edged but falls safe and that’s two, pops a leading edge back to the bowler next ball though and we think he’s just missed out on fifty. Turmaine in, top edged sweep again to level the scores, then stroked out to long on for a single to finish things off.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 17:09
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 214-5 (36 overs)
Another lovely front foot drive from Rasool for four off Hoseinbaks in the next, just 13 to get now. Masood returns, and that’s mullered over midwicket by Rasool for six first ball, Vikram Singh takes a flamboyant one-handed catch on the run behind the rope. Next is clipped fine for a couple, a dot and a wide down leg, and a dot to finish. Five needed for the win. Hoseinbaks still from the korfball end.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 17:01
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 200-5 (34 overs)
Balbirnie on the sweep again to Hans and four more through backward square. Then goes reverse tweo balls later for four more. Fumble at backward point lets them through for two off the last and that’s the 200 up. Balbirnie in the forties now.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 16:55
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 186-5 (32 overs)
Cracking shot from Rasool on the drive off the front foot to Singh, peircing the gap between extra and mid on across the rope and into the bottom left corenr of the football goal behind the boundary. Hoseinbaks takes over from the korfball end.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 16:48
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 176-5 (30 overs)
Dutt goes driving Hans straight to Singh at mid on, Rasool in and off the mark with a single tucked behind square. Tewarie into the attack, a smattering of singles off his first. Hans goes short to Rasool in the next, way too short and hooked over backward square for four.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 16:38
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 168-4 (27 overs)
Balbirnie sweeps Diwan behind square for four, then survives three vociferous LBW appeals in a row, hard to judge the merits from here. Sweeps him finer for four more by way of response.. Singh back from the other end, fifth ball is through everyone for four byes and VRA pass 150. Diwan still from the other end and slog-swept for six over backward square by Balbirnie, next is squarer and along the ground for four.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 16:20
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 137-4 (22 overs)
Things have calmed down a bit since the dismissals of Borren and Scully, but Smal and Dutt continue to keep the scorebaord ticking. Diwan back now, and a chance there as Dutt drives hard and straight back at him, but he can’t hold on. Three balls later ands the breakthrough comes however, Smal LBW on the last ball of the 22nd. Balbirnie in.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 15:56
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 111-3 (15 overs)
Four more square off the pads for Scully in Ahmad’s next, but then one shot too many for him too. Nelson stikes, along with a leading egde and a juggled catch at mid on and gone for a run-a-ball 38. Smal in to join Dutt.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 15:46
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 102-2 (13 overs)
Wide from Ahmad and cut hard in front of point by Borren from halfway down the track, but next ball and Dosti can finally enjoy the long-awaited sight of the back of Peter Borren, flashing at another wide one and a feather edge through to the keeper. He goes for 63 off 40-odd. Dutt in to join Scully, who’s somehwere in the thirties.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 15:42
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 98-1 (12 overs)
Borren goes to fifty rather sedately tucking Diwan to leg for one, 32 balls it took him to get there, must say it fely like less. Touseef Ahmad replaces Masood, and is pulled behind square for four by Borrwen first ball. Gets a few dots in there and then, well, that’s almost a straight sweep somehow, bisects longs on and off for four more. Hans takes over at the football end. Six bowlers in 12 overs remarks VRA scorer Kate Holdsworth.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 15:32
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 87-1 (9 overs)
Another bowling change, Masood on from the korfball end and is duly slogged over midwicket for six by Borren first ball. Couple more off the next out to long on, then driven dead straight for four, then six more into the fencing again. Hope poor Vikram Singh can see the funny side from the sidelines.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 15:27
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 63-1 (8 overs)
It’s not slowing down any, Borren down the track to Hoseinbaks first of the seventh and that’s hard and flat into the fencing again. Fifty up. And Scully goes again a few balls later, up and away over extra for six more. Breaks out the sweep to Diwan in the next, shot of the innings that even if it only brought three.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 15:22
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 45-1 (6 overs)
Early change in the bowling, Hoseinbaks replaces Singh. Scully lofts hinm over mid on for a couple, then steps into him and slams it into the korfball court fencing on the full. Diwan still from the other end, tidy for five and then Scully launches him over extra cover for six more.. This pair look in a hurry.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 15:12
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 21-1 (3 overs)
Two dots into the over and Diwan is down, not sure if it’s cramp or something more significant. He does look in some discomfort, but makes his way back to his mark in the end. Just the single off it. Next over and that’s what Borren’s up the order for, Amitoze ramped over the shoulder for six first ball. Three balls later and that’s a big top edge on the same shot, up and away and it’s landed well back over the rope at backward square somehow. Short from Amitoze two balls later and flat batted through midwicket for four. Diwan still from the football end.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 15:01
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
VRA : 2-1 (1 over)
And we’re back, Vikram Singh opening with none other than Peter Borren, who has promoted himself up the order. Amitoze Singh opens the bowling for the hosts. Singh off the mark third ball driving out to the cover sweeper for one, Borren down the track on the next and turns it to leg for one more. Next ball it fullish and straight, Singh meets it with a drive that heads straight for the bowler’s face, who electes to catch it rather than wear it. Scully at three, looks like Diwan sharing the new ball.
Bertus de Jong 14:20
Well that’s been an impressive fightback with the ball from VRA after Tewarie and Singh had given Dosti a solid platform. Diwan did some damage toward the death but some good work from the VRA slow bowlers kept them in check, Turmaine economical while Balbirnie and Dutt bagged regular wickets. Certainly the visitors won’t have been planning to let Dosti get well past 200 of course, and 220-ish (we’re working on pinning down an exact number) is a substantial total to get at Drieburg. Game evenly poised at the break you’d say.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 14:11
Dosti : 218 all out (49.3 overs)
Big swing from Hoseinbaks and doesn’t connect, Dutt’s on target and back goes off stump. Down leg from Dutt next ball and Scully sees that one alright, smart work from him as Ghori overbalances and stumped.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 14:11
Dosti : 217-8 (49 overs)
It pays off too, Hans holes out to long off in the next, should have been two in two as Ahmad is put down on the rope at long on next ball. Dutt to bowl the last.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 14:08
Dosti : 208-7 (48 overs)
Dutt replaces Turmaine, seems like Scully isn’t picking him behind the stumps. Spills two in a row, though not sure either was a chance. Won’t matter for that one though, bottom edged into the stumps by Diwan and gone for 39 off not many. Great over from Dutt there. Balbirnie still from the football end, Borren clearly doesn;t want any pace on the ball at the death. Touseef Ahmed in.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 14:03
Dosti : 206-6 (47 overs)
Still Balbirnie and Turmaine, and Balbirnie bags another. Hanoeman on the pull but that’s a big top edge and Borren’s under it walking in from midwicket. in to join Diwan, who stikers back immediately for Dosti, putting another shorter ball from Balbirnie out of the ground over midwicket to take Dosti past 200, then cuts the next for four more through point. Mahesh Hans with him now.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 13:55
Dosti : 187-5 (45 overs)
Tidy pair of overs there from Turmaine and Balbirnie, just one each off the 42nd and 43rd. Fumbles in the field in Turmaine’s next let them steal a few more, but every over without a boundary is a won for the visitors now. Diwan’s winding up almost every ball too, big backlift but they’ve kept him comparatively quiet so far, and it’s Hanoeman that finds the rope in the end, gets under Balbirnie and lofts him over mid on for four. Two balls later and Diwan gets one he likes the look of too, cross batted slog straight and clears the leaping long on, then next ball goes had through midwicket and the man on the rope slips in the chase. Four more. Good over for Dosti that, 16 off it, closing in on 200 with five overs to go.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 13:43
Dosti : 166-5 (41 overs)
Balbirnie strikes again, Ahmed steps down and looks to whip that away over the on side. Too straight and too short though, Visser in off the rope and takes it comfortably. Hanoeman in at seven, and off the mark with a four too, thick edge through vacant slip.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 13:38
Dosti : 161-4 (40 overs)
And another down, first ball of the 40th and a bit fuller from Turmaine and Tewarie goes back to it and regrets it, loses his off stump. He goes for 66, a more than handy knock but he’s certainly not happy to be back in the dressing room. Had looked entirely in control till he suddenly wasn’t. Diwan in and off the mark with a four through square leg. Dangerous bat to have in at the death, as VOC can tell you. Still Balbirnie from the football end.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 13:22
Dosti : 137-3 (35 overs)
CLosest thing to a chance in a while as Tewarie miscues a drive high up over Lees at mid off, he’s tracking back fast but that’s a nigh-impossible chance over the shoulder and he can’t get into position for it. Balbirnie still at the other end and finally the breakthrough, beats Singh’s bat into the pads and a top-notch celebr-appeal bounding back down the ground in elatation. Singh goes for sixty-odd, Rahil Ahmed in to join Tewarie, who is also somewhere in the high fifties we reckon. Turmaine from the korfball end now.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 13:13
Dosti : 131-2 (33 overs)
Width from Dutt and is punished, Singh runs the first through third, well chased down but they take three, Tewarie cuts the next harder and squarer and gets four for it. Balbirnie changing his footwear, and yep he’ll be taking over from Turmaine. Tidy start from him too, just the one off it. Looks like Visser coming back at the korfball end now.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 13:00
Dosti : 119-2 (29 overs)
Turmaine starts with a maiden to Singh to start. Dutt on at the other end and he drags Singh forward, Scully (who has taken the gloves off Lees) is a bit far back but has the bails off quick enough. Or does he? Not according to the umpire. Insult to injury again as two balls later Tewarie lofts him over mid off for a one-boucer. Both bats break fifty in Turmaine’s next over, this partnership putting the hosts well on top here.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 12:45
Dosti : 101-2 (24 overs)
Reckon it was a no ball in that last Borren over, for too many out perhaps. Scorers in a bit of confusion. Hundred up for Dosti though, both bats in the forties now. Looks like Turmaine into the attack.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 12:39
Dosti : 96-2 (23 overs)
Some sort of hold up here, not quite clear what the issue is but protracted discussions in the middle. Seems to be resolved now, Borren goes short and is pulled hard over the on side for four by Singh. Three balls later is driven hard through long off for four more. This pair motoring now.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 12:29
Dosti : 73-2 (20 overs)
Abid bowls his ten straight through, half appeal for LBW on Singh in his last but more in hope than expectation. He finishes with 2-38 from his quota. Singh still from the other end and almost a breakthrough – back of a length and takes the edge, between keeper and slip but neither get a hand to it, and away for four. Borren replaces Abid, bowling with his cap on again.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 12:14
Dosti : 63-2 (17 overs)
Drinks now, and Dosti will be fairly happy with their progress. A speculative half- appeal for caught behind on Singh off Abid the only hint of danger. Tewarie on 35* now, Singh on 13*
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 11:58
Dosti : 55-2 (13 overs)
Tewarie continues to deploy the drive, lovely sound off the bat there as he goes hard and straight off the front foot and it skims across the grass to the rope. That’s the fifty up for Dosti. Looks like a bowling change at the other end, Vikram Singh into the attack.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 11:50
Dosti : 40-2 (11 overs)
Half a chance there as Tewarie pulls Dutt again, but uppish and headed toward deep square leg, who’s maybe a shade slow off the rope and it doesn’t quite carry. Does well not to dive over it in the end. Abid still from the other end, and he finds the breakthrough, Masood half forward and past the bat, off stump flattened. Amitoze SIngh at four.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 11:38
Dosti : 32-1 (8 overs)
Early bowling change as Dutt takes over from Visser, starts with a maiden on Masood. Two singles and a leg bye off Abid’s next. Dutt gives away his first runs with the third ball of the 8th, short and pulled round the corner by Tewarie, good work on the rope saves a couple. Tewarie onto 23* now, Masood on 6*.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 11:26
Dosti : 26-1 (5 overs)
A few spots of rain again but not enough to come off, brighter skies behind. Just a single and a leg bye blemishing Visser’s first. Lovely backfoot drive from Tewarie through the covers in Abid’s next and the fielder fumbles in the chase, four more. Pretty slippery out there by the looks of things, neither of VRA’s opening bowlers going full tilt. Enough pace on that though, straight drive from Tewarie again and four more off Abid, then too much width and cut away through point for four more. Hosts very much on top since the rain.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 11:12
Dosti : 5-1 (1 over)
And we’re back, still pretty grim but nothing coming down. Abid resumes, too sraight third ball and Tewarie flicks him languidly over backward square and the ball beats deep fine leg to the rope. Bit soft underfoot to risk a dive out there I guess. Single thtough midwicket to retain strike. Visser from the other end.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 11:01
Dosti : 0-1 (0.1 overs)
Just time for one ball before the rain arrives, it’s full and straight from Ashir Abid and pins Raja LBW. Vinoo Tewarie was preparing to head out to join Wahid Masood, but the rain beats him to it. Covers on, but shouldn’t be lond according to the radar.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 10:59
Perumal and Mahangoe sitting out for Dosti today, Touseef Ahmed and Hanoeman come in. Shirase Rasool in for VRA, Udit Nashier absent. And the sun has also disappeared.
Dosti Amsterdam vs VRA 10:39
And we have a timely toss, which the hosts have won. Dosti elect to bat first.
Bertus de Jong 10:00
Good morning all and welcome back, just the one match to catch up today – Dosti welcoming their Amsterdam rivals VRA to Drieburg for the now-traditional Sunday epilogue to the round. VRA will have watched with growing concern as the round unfolded yesterday, with wins for Excelsior and VOC knocking them from second to fourth place and raising the real danger of a second half in the bottom half come Phase 2. They’ll be looking to reclaim their foothold on the podium today against a still winless Dosti, who have however looked increasingly dangerous with the arrival of Amitoze Singh coupled with Kuldeep Diwan’s beligerent form. The weather’s also a slight worry today, with a fair bit of rain falling overnight and deep grey clouds around. Sunshine for now though, should have some toss news in about half an hour.
Rod Lyall 18:08
Well, that was quite a day, with two upsets for the price of one, or arguably three if we include VOC’s ending of Voorburg’s unbeaten record. But Kampong’s demolition of HCC was a real turn-up, and so was Sparta’s comfortable victory over HBS. It’s probably too little too late for Sparta, but it ensures there will be some interest in the penultimate Group A round. And Group B could scarcely be tighter. VRA have their chance to move level with VOC and Excelsior again tomorrow, when they play Dosti; we’ll be here to cover it, but until then, it’s goodbye from me.
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 17:59
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 164 all out (39.2 overs)
Ahmadi back with the old one-two, a bouncer to Vink followed by a yorker which uproots his off stump. A very important win for Sparta, though they still need everything to go their way if they are to squeeze into the top three in the group.
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 17:57
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 164-9 (39 overs)
Inevitably, Vink’s resistance comes to an end: he lofts Singh to deep midwicket, where Allen’s under it, and he goes for 33. Stephan Vink the last man.
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 17:53
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 162-8 (38 overs)
Spin at both ends, Manminder Singh on from the Sportlaan End. Tidy enough, but Vink lifts a full toss over square leg for six to finish the over. Just two off Gohil’s next, but they’re still there. This would be one of the great turnarounds, HBS needing 86 from 12 with two wickets in hand.
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 17:46
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 152-8 (36 overs)
Gohil averts any trouble by coming on in place of Ahmadi. But the action’s at the other end, Vink taking three successive boundaries off Snoep. Given the potential importance of NRR, these runs could be significant. And Vink sweeps Gohil to get the deficit below 100. He’s on 25* now.
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 17:33
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 124-8 (32 overs)
Some real hostility from Ahmadi, peppering the batters with bouncers and striking Vink on the shoulder as he ducks. Evident that they’re not wildly impressed by his tactics, but play continues.
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 17:23
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 117-8 (30.4 overs)
Sparta edge closer: Snoep gets Boddendijk, caught at slip. This time it goes hard and shoulder-high, and Saleem makes no mistake. Three wickets for Snoep, as Julian de Mey comes in at ten.
VOC Rotterdam vs Voorburg 17:13
VCC : 153 all out (49.1 overs)
VOC : 153-5 (36.4 overs)
Well they’ve shaken hands on what we assume must be a five-wicket win for VOC, perhaps someone missed a wide somewhere, we’ll try to sort that for you later. Big win for VOC, not a huge loss for VCC, though they could come to regret it if VOC do make the top three from here, which got a lot more likely today.
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 17:13
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 114-7 (29.1 overs)
A let-off for Boddendijk as he edges Snoep to two-and-a-halfth slip and the chance goes down. It’s a maiden over, and although Kyle Klein has moved on to 17* HBS are running out of overs as well as wickets. Another of which falls as I write this: Klein is leg-before to Malik, who has returned from the Scoreboard End, and we’re into the endgame.
VOC Rotterdam vs Voorburg 17:03
VCC : 153 all out (49.1 overs)
VOC : 153-5 (36.4 overs)
Some hostile stuff from van Beek to Jain gives him something to think about, and his thinking seems to be “let’s just get this done in the next then”. Down the track to Boissevain and lifts him over mid off for four, couple of singles and they’re shaking hands. One run too early by my count. Unless we’ve missed something the scores are currently level…
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 17:00
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 108-6 (26.2 overs)
Snoep back again, Martijn Scholte chases a lifting delivery outside off stump, and Raza snaffles his fourth catch of the innings. Benno Boddendijk in, and Sparta look like keeping their hopes of making the top three alive (barely, but there you go).
VOC Rotterdam vs Voorburg 16:53
VCC : 153 all out (49.1 overs)
VOC : 143-5 (34 overs)
Logan van Beek back for a last ditch effort to break this partnership, but it’s too late now you’d think.
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 16:48
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 96-5 (22.4 overs)
The rain stops before they can get the covers on, and Kyle Klein joins his brother in the middle. Ahmadi returns from the Sportlaan End, Snoep having presumably done his job by removing Kaplan. Klein minor clips him for four, resulting in the removal of the slip, but that doesn’t prevent them from taking three more. But then Klein major pulls at the next, rising outside off stump, and Raza does the rest. Clearly advantage Sparta now.
VOC Rotterdam vs Voorburg 16:38
VCC : 153 all out (49.1 overs)
VOC : 123-5 (29 overs)
Double change, Stef Mulder from the airport end, loosener outside off first ball, but tidy enough for the rest. Jain squeezes Bpoissevain out through point in the next and O’Dowd running hard for a man that’s been out there for thirty-odd overs. Three more, 31 to get.
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 16:38
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 87-4 (21 overs)
And Snoep gets his man, Kaplan skying the ball to mid-off and departing for 38. So high did that go that it’s brought on the rain, and there’s a general rush for the covers.
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 16:33
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 82-3 (20 overs)
Ahmadi and Usman Saleem operating for Sparta, but Kaplan, now on 36*, and Klein (15*) are gradually accumulating the runs. Kaplan mostly content to push the singles, Klein more inclined to play his shots. Snoep into the attack now.
VOC Rotterdam vs Voorburg 16:28
VCC : 153 all out (49.1 overs)
VOC : 114-5 (26 overs)
VCC just can’t string enough good balls together to keep the pressure up. Ahmad and Kingma both take for four off the first balls of their respective overs. They need to get O’Dowd two overs ago really, but since being put down twice in two balls he’s not looked like offering a third chance. Boissevain into the attack.
Salland vs Excelsior ’20 16:17
Salland : 110 all out (39.5 overs)
Excelsior : 111-2 (21.3 overs)
Well that was some acceleration. Van Molen into the attack and made to regret it. Etman takes his first three balls for four, six, six and fortunately for van Molen that’s the game. That was not close.
VOC Rotterdam vs Voorburg 16:13
VCC : 153 all out (49.1 overs)
VOC : 98-5 (23 overs)
Seelaar back in the crease and trying to brush Ahmad off his pads, misses and that’s clipping leg according to the man in black. Jain in.
Salland vs Excelsior ’20 16:10
Salland : 110 all out (39.5 overs)
Excelsior : 91-2 (20 overs)
The chase is picking up pace, as Ingram takes Ganesan for four, six, four in consecutive deliveries. 15 off the over as Excelsior accelerate into the final straight.
VOC Rotterdam vs Voorburg 16:10
VCC : 153 all out (49.1 overs)
VOC : 96-4 (22 overs)
Potgieter takes both edges in consecutive balls, but no reward as de Grooth can only get a hand to a tough chance wide of slip before Hingorani puts down an inside edge behind the stumps to reprieve O’Dowd. Game slipping away.
HBS Craeyenhout vs Sparta 1888 16:07
Sparta : 247 all out (49.5 overs)
HBS : 56-3 (14.5 overs)
Ahmadi on for Malik, and after missing Navjit’s inside edge he takes the outside one with his next delivery. Another catch for Raza, and Sparta well on top as Ryan Klein comes in at five. No Barresi today, and the HBS batting looks thinnish.
VOC Rotterdam vs Voorburg 16:01
VCC : 153 all out (49.1 overs)
VOC : 86-4 (20 overs)
Another wicket, but not the one they want, De Kok on the pull and bottom-edges Potgieter into his stumps. Seelaar in at six, and almost gone first ball. Looking to leave but off the inside edge just across the stumps.
VOC Rotterdam vs Voorburg 15:55
VCC : 153 all out (49.1 overs)
VOC : 82-3 (19 overs)
Potgieter strays too straight and is clipped fine for four by O”dowd to bring up his half century at exactly a run a ball. Ahmad finally gets Fourie with the first ball of the next though, with the worst ball he’s bowled all day. Looping full toss outside off and pulled straight to van Beek at midwicket. Tim de Kok in at five.
HCC vs Kampong 15:53

VCC : 153 all out (49.1 overs)
VOC : 35-0 (7 overs)
Ball changed, and it’s no longer swinging. Edwards takes advantage, nine runs off the first five balls of the seventh, and then insult to injury Edwards pinned dead in front on the last, but going through the stumps presumably. Finger stays down. Heads going down in the field too.

Meanwhile VCC are batting at Hazelaarweg, out of choice we believe. Malan and Musa Ahmad opening, Jain and Niaz sharing the new ball. Bit of slapstick early as Malan nurdles Niaz to leg, Ahmad sets off and is sent back, slips and lands sprawled in the middle of the pitch. Throw goes wide however and Niaz is stoo slow back to the stumps, so Ahmad can scramble back. Maiden over in the end.

Kampong : 0-0 (1 over)
Abhyankar and Alphonse open for Kampong, who may have decided on an alphabetical batting order. Clayton Floyd does the honours for HCC, bowling from the Van Hogenhoucklaan End.
