The Topklasse League Phase table after Round 8
Rod Lyall 13:54
Short but not particularly sweet, that one. Voorburg have demonstrated the way to deal with the absence of the interntionals: pick the strongest team you can, and ask everyone to step up. Which, even allowing for Dosti’s all-too-obvious limitations, they unquestionably did, Karl Nieuwoudt’s opening spell striking blows from which Dosti never recovered. That’s it from us for this weekend, but there’s Super League action tomorrow, and a double programme next weekend under the KNCB’s new replay policy. We’ll post some news about that later, so check in for that and my review of this weekend’s games. For now, though, it’s goodbye from me.
Dosti vs Voorburg 13:49
Dosti : 64 all out (24.1 overs)
Voorburg 68-1 (14.5 overs)
And it’s all over, Dutt smacking Ravichandran for six to finish on 38*, from 30 balls with seven fours and that six. We haven’t seen many more one-sided Topklasse matches than that.
Dosti vs Voorburg 13:45
Dosti : 64 all out (24.1 overs)
Voorburg 54-1 (14 overs)
Nizarul Sayed is putting in a gallant effort here, his four overs so far going for just 6 runs. But the damage is occurring at the other end, with Dutt now on 24*, Hingorani on 15*.
Dosti vs Voorburg 13:38
Dosti : 64 all out (24.1 overs)
Voorburg 46-1 (12 overs)
I’m sorry to go on about it (I’m not really), but if ever there was a game that justified bonus points, it’s this one. 4 points is not an accurate reflection of the difference between the teams here. Dutt has gone after Hans, moving swiftly on to 19* with a six offThe Tip the off-spinner. Just 19 needed now.
Dosti vs Voorburg 13:26
Dosti : 64 all out (24.1 overs)
Voorburg 26-1 (8 overs)
Sayed replaces Masood, with Hingorani and Dutt proceeding at a measured pace toward the target. No need for anything silly.
Dosti vs Voorburg 13:16
Dosti : 64 all out (24.1 overs)
Voorburg 17-1 (4.4 overs)
Ahmed and Hingorani start confidently enough, but then Hoseinbaks beats Ahmed’s bat and he’s stumped by Rahil Ahmed. Aryan Dutt in at three.
Dosti vs Voorburg 13:04
Dosti : 64 all out (24.1 overs)
Voorburg 3-0 (1 over)
They’re back already, and it appears to be Arief Hoseinbaks opening up to Ali Ahmed Qasim and Mohit Hingorani. A wide and a couple to Ahmed off the first. Waheed Masood from the other end.
Dosti vs Voorburg 12:44
Dosti : 64 all out (24.1 overs)
Three for Ali Ahmed Qasim: Shazai caught behind and it’s all over. That was a really disappointing effort from Dosti, and a terrific one from a half-strength Voorburg.
Dosti vs Voorburg 12:35
Dosti : 60-9 (22.2 overs)
The End Is Nigh: Ali Ahmed Qasim returns to trap Asief Hoseinbaks in front. Last pair together now.
Dosti vs Voorburg 12:24
Dosti : 57-8 (20 overs)
A first wicket for Sajjad Kamal, as he bowls Arief Hoseinbaks.
Dosti vs Voorburg 12:19
Dosti : 54-7 (18.2 overs)
But Ravichandran’s resistance is ended by Mulder; leg-before for 22. Hoseinbakses at both ends now as Asief joins Arief. Or ‘Hoseinbakses about’, in the old dominoes phrase.
Dosti vs Voorburg 12:13
Dosti : 53-6 (18 overs)
Rearguard action by Ravichandran and Hoseinbaks against Mulder and Kamal, but Voorburg are still in charge.
Dosti vs Voorburg 11:57
Dosti : 43-6 (14.3 overs)
Stef Mulder and Sajjad Kamal are on for Ahmed and Nieuwoudt, and it’s Mulder who bowls Masood without scoring. Arief Hoseinbaks in to join Ravichandran, who’s on 19*.
Dosti vs Voorburg 11:47
Dosti : 35-5 (11.5 overs)
Hans and Ravichandran were setting about a rebuilding exercise, but Nieuwoudt strikes again, trapping Hans in front for 12. Ravichandran’s on 13, and is joined by Waheed Maood.
Dosti vs Voorburg 11:27
Dosti : 19-4 (5.4 overs)
Three for Nieuwoudt; Tewarie bowled for 3. Satish Ravichandran in at six, with Dosti absolutely on the ropes.
Dosti vs Voorburg 11:22
Dosti : 19-3 (4.2 overs)
Now Wegecsanyi’s gone, bowled by Ali Ahmed Qasim. Mahesh Hans joins his captain. Voorburg in rampant mood.
Dosti vs Voorburg 11:18
Dosti : 15-2 (3.3 overs)
And another for Nieuwoudt, as Rahil Ahmed is caught by Stef Mulder. Dosti in early trouble again, with skipper Vinoo Tewarie coming to the crease.
Dosti vs Voorburg 11:11
Dosti : 10-1 (1.4 overs)
Another boundary for Raji, but then he edges to keeper Mohit Hingorani. Joe Wegescsanyi in at three.
Dosti vs Voorburg 11:07
Dosti : 6-0 (1 over)
Ali Ahmed Qasim opens up to Rahil Ahmed and Sukumar Raji. A single to the former, then a boundary for Raji, followed by another single. Karl Nieuwoudt from the other end.
Dosti vs Voorburg 10:56
Voorburg have won the toss and elected to field. We’re in business!
Blue skies over Drieburg | Photo – Floris de Lange
Dosti vs Voorburg 10:31
Voorburg are, of course, without internationals Bas de Leede, Viv Kingma, Logan van Beek and Philippe Boissevain, as well as the injured Tom de Grooth. They bring in Floris de Lange, Remco van der Giessen, Sajjad Kamal and Laurens Boissevain.
Rod Lyall 10:19
And good morning/afternoon/evening once more. In the words of the song ‘It seems like years since you’ve been here.’ It doesn’t, of course, although covering these games from Sydney does mean it all becomes a bit of a blur. The plan today is to bring you news of the match between Dosti United and Voorburg at Sportpark Drieburg, although we’re not yet sure what information will be available. We hope the KNCB’s online scorecard system will keep us in touch, so stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed!
Rod Lyall 18:53
Four very different matches there, but the upshot is that Punjab will be top of the table on Monday after their hard-fought victory over HCC and VOC’s defeat by Excelsior. Two terrific centuries at Craeyenhout, by Tayo Walbrugh and Peter Borren, brightened the day considerably, HBS moving up to fifth as a result of their win, while Sparta remain winless at the bottom after ACC’s much-needed victory. There’s more Topklasse cricket tomorrow, when Dosti United will be trying to break their duck against a depleted Voorburg. So join us for that, and for now it’s Rod Lyall saying thank you for your company, and goodnight.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 18:43
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 193-9 (50 overs)
The final over is quietly played out, and Sparta have at least avoided being bowled out. The stand between Tarr and Bukhari was the high point for them, but the rest of the batting continues to be a worry. Anis Raza finishes with three for 35, Sahil Kothari with three for 29 for ACC.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 18:38
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 190-9 (49 overs)
Balwantsingh is bowled by Kothari. Last pair together.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 18:31
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 181-8 (47 overs)
Nasrat Ibrahimkhil is bowled by Raza, and Max Hoornweg joins Balwantsingh at the crease. But he’s soon stumped by Hannema off Kothari as the Sparta innings stutters to a conclusion.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 18:20
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 170-6 (44.? overs)
Raza and Kothari wrapping this up, with 75 till needed from just 36 deliveries. And now Singh’s stumped by Hannema off Kothari.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 18:13
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 152-5 (42 overs)
Raza adds the scalp of Bukhari, LBW for 71. Balwantsingh joins Manminder. That’s about the end of it, you’d think.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 18:09
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 146-4 (40 overs)
Tarr goes, bowled by Raza. Manminder Singh in to join Bukhari.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 18:07
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 140-3 (38 overs)
Bukhari reaches his half-century with six off Anis Raza, adding another off the same over as Sparta strive to raise the tempo. Tarr’s on 63*, Bukhari on 60*.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 18:03
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : ?174-6 (45.5? overs)
The live scoreboard suddenly went mad there, runs disappearing as Punjab neared their target, but what we can say for definite is that Punjab have won by four wickets, and that Asad Zulfiqar stayed until the end.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 17:57
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 167-6 (45 overs)
Asad and Irfan content to push the singles, which is all they need to do now.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 17:53
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 111-3 (35 overs)
Tarr’s on 53*, Bukhari on 42*. Tarr is living dangerously, dropped twice in the space of three deliveries. It’s a terrific partnership, but the asking rate is pushing up all the time. 132 from 15.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 17:50
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 159-6 (43 overs)
La lutta continuà at De Diepput, with Floyd and Venter keeping things quiet apart from the appealing. But Asad and Irfan are still there, and only 15 are needed now.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 17:42
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 238 all out (47.3 overs)
Borren tries to put Boddendijk over the midwicket boundary, but holes out to Stephen Vink instead. He goes for a 97-ball 104. His reaction, and that of the fielders, show that for them the chase was still on. Two balls later Hartsink is caught by De Mey, and it’s all over. Boddendijk finishes with six for 67.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 17:18
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 102-3 (33 overs)
Tarr goes to fifty with a straight six off Arya. 141 needed off 17 overs.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 17:35
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 231-8 (46 overs)
And Borren reaches an extraordinary fighting hundred, his ninth in the top flight, but he hasn’t scored many better. 42 needed off four, but he hasn’t given up just yet!
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 17:28
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 141-6 (36.5 overs)
Mubashar, for it seems it was he, tries a very ambitious scoop off Bijloos and is caught by Staal running back from slip. Irfan ul Haq joins Asad, now on 52*.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 17:25
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 140-5 (36 overs)
It’s not quite stalemate at De Diepput, more like trench warfare. But Asad has reached a painstaking half-century, and Hussain’s giving him good support. A boundary off Klaus takes him to 27*, relieving the tension considerably. 34 needed off 14.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 17:18
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 72-3 (25 overs)
Tarr and Bukhari still there, Zaidi on now.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 17:17
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 203-8 (42 overs)
The hat trick delivery strikes Abid on the pad, and Klein can’t believe it as the umpire’s finger stays down. Borren in all-out attack mode now, three fours and a six off Boddendijk’s next. He’s pacing between deliveries like an ageing, caged lion. But he’s on 75*.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 17:10
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 183-8 (40.5 overs)
And a wicket they duly get, Boddendijk finally getting Lees, cught by Klein for 67. Borren’s still there on 56, but Turmaine has come and gone, bowled by the returning Klein. He now has three for 9. Four for 9, as Nashier is trapped in front first ball. Klein on a hat trick.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 17:04
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 60-3 (20 overs)
Interesting situation at ‘t Loopveld as well, with Tarr and Bukhari building a solid partnership after those quick wickets. Devanshu Arya now into the attack.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 16:56
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 177-5 (38 overs)
They’re taking a drink at Craeyenhout, with Borren on 54* and Lees on 64*, the stand worth 126. 96 needed from 12 – a huge ask, but not out of the question. HBS need a wicket.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 16:55
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 112-5 (29 overs)
A real attritional battle going on at De Diepput, with the game delicately poised. 62 needed from 21, but with five down it’s all about the wickets. Overdijk back.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 16:48
VOC : 102 all out (45.2 overs)
Excelsior : 103-4 (25.1 overs)
Upadhyaya has another as Etman edges behind for 44. Takes a minute for VOC to remember to appeal rather than celebrate but the finger goes up as soon as the question is asked. Shankar joins Stubbs, who looks keen to wrap things up. Drives van Wingerden through cover for four, reverse sweeps for four more, and then puts him over the midwicket rope to tie the scores. An anti-climactic finish as de Kok fumbles the first delivery of the 26th and they run a bye to finish things off.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 16:42
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 153-5 (35 overs)
Lees has reached his half-century, and with Borren on 48 the stand’s worth 105. Boddendijk is back, but he doesn’t yet have the breakthrough.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 16:38
VOC : 102 all out (45.2 overs)
Excelsior : 77-3 (22 overs)
Upadhyaya takes over from Fletcher, and finds the breakthrough, Kroesen going after a wide one and swatting it into the hands of cover. Stubbs in now to join Etman who’s on 39*. Exclesior just 25 behind now.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 16:34
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 90-5 (22.3 overs)
Tariq was shaping quite well there, but a massive appeal for leg-before off Floyd sees the umpire’s finger go up. Tariq is not amused, pointing significantly to his bat and reviewing his position in relation to the stumps, but he has to go. Asad’s on 35*, and Mudassar Hussain joins him.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 16:28
VOC : 102 all out (45.2 overs)
Excelsior : 74-2 (19 overs)
Fletcher looks like he’s planning to bowl his ten on the trot here, Jain also still going at the other end but less disciplined. Drags one down almost into his own foot and it ends up at fine leg, swept for four behind square by Etman three balls later. Fletcher will indeed bowl out, five dots and then the last is away through third for four. Looks like van Wingerden on from the other end now. We are told, incidentally, that Corey Rutgers has not broken any fingers but has in fact dislocated his wrist this time. Never let it be said that he’s a one-dimensional cricketer.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 16:27
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 77-4 (20 overs)
Asad’s still there, now on 32*, but Clayton Floyd has removed Usman, and Suleiman Tariq is in at six.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 16:24
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 127-5 (30 overs)
The counter-attack continues, with Borren now out-scoring Lees. He’s on 32*, Lees on 38*. Stephan Vink operating from the Sportlaan End, Navjit from the other. But 146 are still needed, from just 20 overs.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 16:15
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 21-3 (10 overs)
A second for Van Vliet, as Ambrose edges to Ramesh Babu in the slips and leaves without scoring. Tarr, who has shown some aggression with a couple of boundaries off Kumar, is joined in the middle by Mudassar Bukhari.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 16:08
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 55-3 (16 overs)
Venter and Klaus have taken over the attack, but Asad, now on 21*, and Usman are building a useful partnership. Still a long way to go, though, and not a huge amount of batting to follow.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 16:03
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 13-2 (7 overs)
Raza goes caught on mid on of the bowling of Mees van Vliet. Ambrose the new batsman, as Sparta’s batting travails continue.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 15:58
VOC : 102 all out (45.2 overs)
Excelsior : 49-2 (14.1 overs)
Another maiden from Fletcher, who is bowling extremely well, but hard to see it saving his side. Etman puts Jain over his head for an absolute monster six over the sightscreen, the water and deep onto the second field. That will take some fetching, seems a good time for drinks.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 16:00
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 83-5 (22 overs)
Mitch Lees is certainly not going to die wondering: he’s raced to 25 from 19 deliveries, with Borren playing an unaccustomed second fiddle. It’s a quixotic battle, but you have to admire the effort.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 15:55
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Sparta : 10-1 (5 overs)
Aryan Kumar has an early wicket, trapping Mamoon Latif in front. Garnett Tarr joins Ali Raza.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 15:47
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 33-3 (11 overs)
Sikander’s gone too, not sure how but Overdijk was the bowler. The absence of a live card is a pain in the gluteus maximus. Yasir Usman has joined Asad Zulfiqar. The pitch was far from easy for HCC, but the extra pace of Bijloos and Overdijk is causing real problems.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 15:42
VOC : 102 all out (45.2 overs)
Excelsior : 32-2 (11 overs)
Rutgers off the field now, Fletcher continues. Full and quick and a maiden to Ingram, Jain profits from the pressure next over as Ingram aims a big swipe at him and shanks an easy catch to cover. Joost Kroesen in, crowded around the bat with a slip, leg slip and short leg. Kroesen blocks out the over.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 15:41
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 51-5 (17.5 overs)
Apologies for giving the VRA captain out there, but the rest of the comment stands. Now Marcus Andrew has gone as well, skying Boddendijk to Manjinder Singh at deep extra. The left-armer now has three for 12.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 15:35
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 27-2 (8.2 overs)
Bijloos and Overdijk are giving it their all in defence of a modest total (though a lot less modest than last week’s), and Bijloos is rewarded with the wicket of Nidamanuru, well caught by a diving Patel behind the stumps. Sikander Zulfiqar in now.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 15:32
VOC : 102 all out (45.2 overs)
Excelsior : 31-1 (9 overs)
The responsibilities of captaincy don’t seem to be weighing Fletcher down any, if anything he’s gained a yard of pace. Beats Ingram’s outside edge to draw a huge appeal that subsides into a chorus of oohs and ahhs. Jain draws an appeal too as hit turns one into Etman’s pads, but equally speculatiive and the next ball is too short and whipped away high over square leg, just evading the fielder to cross the rope on one bounce. Jain responds with a ripper that fizzes up off the glove toward short leg, who can’t quite get there. Looks like Rutgers there and he’s in a bit of pain. Presumably broken a finger or three as is his wont, but gets right back under the lid regardless.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 15:30
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 33-4 (15.1 overs)
And now Balbirnie’s gone, edging a wideish Boddendijk delivery to De Mey at slip. The VRA wheels coming off again!
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 15:25
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 30-3 (13.4 overs)
A wicket for Benno Boddendijk, as Szwarczynski is caught by keeper Martijn Scholte for 6. Borren joins Balbirnie.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 15:20
VOC : 102 all out (45.2 overs)
Excelsior : 23-1 (6 overs)
Ingram’s seen enough of Jain, down the track and a far from risk-free four lofted just over the leaping mid-on, couple of balls later and a better connection, slog-swept over the midwicket rope for six.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 15:19
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 18-1 (5 overs)
Rehmat goes: immediately after hitting Bijloos for another four he’s surprised by extra lift and spears a catch to Crowley in the gully. Nidamanuru in at three..
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 15:16
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
Punjab : 13-0 (4 overs)
Back at De Diepput, too, with brothers Rehmat and Asad Zulfiqar facing Bijloos and Overdijk. Rehmat straight onto the attack, 12 off 14 so far.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 15:13
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 19-2 (11 overs)
Klein having done his initial job, removing both openers, Julian de Mey replaces him immediately after the end of the first powerplay. Right on the spot, just a single apiece for Szwarczynski and Balbirnie off his first over. Vink continues.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 15:06
VOC : 102 all out (45.2 overs)
Excelsior : 10-1 (3 overs)
Well they needed an early wicket or three, skipper Pierce Fletcher delivers the first. Back of a length fourth ball of the second over, squares Verhagen up, takes the edge and gone. Ingram in early to join Etman. Spin from the other end, Arnav Jain sharing the new ball with his captain.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 15:06
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 13-2 (8.3 overs)
Rasool’s gone, a second wicket for Klein, bringing Eric Szwarczynski to the crease.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 15:01
ACC : 242-7 (50 overs)
Aha! Zaidi ended on 88*, while Hannema was out for 50. Max Hoornweg finished with three for 42. More we cannot tell you, I’m afraid.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 14:54
ACC : 221-6 (47 overs)
We assume the ACC innings has now finished, but with no update to the online score we have no idea what’s happened.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 14:49
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 6-1 (4.1 overs)
Klein’s getting a lot of bounce and carry, with Vink skiddier but equally on the spot. And with that, Singh goes, edging Klein low to Walbrugh at second slip. Jack Balbirnie joins Rasool.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 14:42
ACC : 221-6 (47 overs)
The stand’s gone on to 68, with Hannema now on 47* from just 22 deliveries. Zaidi on 75*.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 14:39
HBS : 272-5 (50 overs)
VRA : 0-0 (1 over)
They’re back at Craeyenhout, although we’re in some doubt about the total VRA will be chasing. It may be 281; it may be only 273. Or something in between. At any event, Ryan Klein opens with a maiden to Vikram Singh from the Sportlaan End. Shirase Rasool at the other end in the absence of Ben Cooper, and he will face Ferdi Vink. We now understand that the HBS total was indeed 272 (Walbrugh 171*).
ACC vs Sparta 1888 14:29
ACC : 194-6 (45 overs)
Zaidi and Hannema are giving ACC a pretty good finish; they’ve added 41 so far. Hannema’s the main aggressor, his 28* includes a four and two sixes. Zaidi’s on 68*.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 14:22
HCC : 173 all out (48.2 overs)
But this time it IS a catch for the keeper; Patel nicks Bhatti and goes for 34. Bhatti and Nidamanuru finish with the same figures, three for 36.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 14:16
VOC : 102 all out (45.2 overs)
Well he had to try it. Fletcher gets low to try to slog Stubbs over midwicket, edged and flies to backward point, taken. VOC all out for 102.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 14:14
HCC : 170-9 (46.4 overs)
Bhatti claims his second, a full delivery crashing into the base of Venter’s stumps. Klaus was bowled as well, I now discover. Reinier Bijloos the last man..
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 14:09
VOC : 101-9 (44 overs)
Van Wingerden drive’s Stbbs through the covers for a couple, the hundred comes up off Fletcher’s inside edge first ball of Ingram’s next, and van Wingreden blocks out the over. He’s seen 29 deliveries for three now, but you’d think Fletcher will have to start swinging at the other end at some point.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 14:08
ACC : 153-6 (40 overs)
Manminder Singh removes Aryan Kumar, caught by Ambrose for 5. Zaidi on 59* now, joined by Stephan Hannema.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 14:03
HCC : 164-8 (44.1 overs)
Another catch for Asad Zulfiqar, this time Klaus off Bhatti, bringing Henrico Venter to the crease.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 13:59
VOC : 97-9 (41 overs)
Van Wingerden’s doing well to hang in there with his skipper. He’s seen off 16 deliveries for his 1 run. Fletcher seems happy to trust him with the strike as they edge up the score. Stubbs into the attack.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 13:56

Baker bags another as Hanif drives to Ingram at extra cover, van Wingerden last man. Three figures looking a long way off at this point. The break in play hasn’t helped VOC any.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 13:50
HBS : 280-5 (50 overs)
It’s a tough ask for VRA’s young bowlers, trying to contain a batter of Walbrugh’s class in full cry. Abid’s the one who really suffers, the back end of his last over going for 6 4 4 6 4. Borren bowls the last, and after Manjinder Singh gets a four and a single even he gets the Walbrugh treatment: six over cow. The rest of the over includes the run out of Singh, but Walbrugh finishes on 177*.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 13:38
VOC : 86-8 (33 overs)
Malik’s belaboured innings of 3 off 25 is brought to an end as he loses his patience and tries to hoik Ingram over the on side and loses his poles. Skipper to the crease and VOC will need a captain’s knock from Fletcher here as he immediately loses his partner, Upadhyaya looking to cut a ball that came back into him low and is caugfht behind off the bottom edge. Hanif in at ten.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 13:39
HCC : 130-7 (37.5 overs)

Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 13:26
VOC : 80-6 (29 overs)
A young footballer taken ill over the other side, and given all the roadworks it took a helicopter to get her medical attention. She was able to get in the ambulance under her own power in the end though, so hopefully a happy ending there. We’re back in action again, Malik connects with the sweep to get off the mark against Baker, next ball is short and wide and cut away for four by Upadhyaya.Ingram into the attack at the other end, and starts with a maiden
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 13:24

And there it is! Walbrugh brings up his century with a push to midwicket off Turmaine.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 13:14
HBS : 163-3 (42 overs)
VRA continue to hammer through their overs, and Walbrugh hammers the bowling at every opportunity. A six off Nashier takes him into the nineties, and a string of singles off Turmaine bring him to 98*. Klein’s on 10*.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 13:06
VOC : 74-6 (26.5 overs)
Still Baker and van Troost for Excelsior, pressure mounting, just two runs added since the wickets fell, both from Updhyaya. Frustration showing perhaps for Malik who treis to sweep Baker but can’t connect. And there’s an unscheduled break here now as an air ambulance descends on Thurlede, landing on the adjacent football field.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 12:46
VOC : 72-6 (24 overs)
Heggelman turns to spin now as Baker replaces Kroesen, Schoonheim and van Baren not taking any chances though. Van Baren turns Baker round to leg into the gap for a couple. Closing in on a half-century here and has held the innings together thus far, but he won’t get there. Van Troost sneaks one past the bat and he’s struck on the pad, Excelsior convinced, umpire is too, he has to go for 46. Rohan Malik (for it is he) in to join Schoonheim, who’s on 8. Baker continues, and another down. Schoonheim goes back in the crease and rushed in the shot, spooned up to midwicket and taken. Upadhyaya in and a short leg in for him. Pressure on. He’s off the mark shuffling back to push into the off side. Malik blocks out the over.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 12:39
HCC : 97-3 (23 overs)
Gorlee goes to his fifty with a six off Hussain; it comes from 64 deliveries with two fours and three sixes. Teja Nidamanuru into the attack.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 12:25
VOC : 56-4 (19 overs)
Van Troost and Kroesen continue after drinks, job to do for van Baren and Schoonheim. Van Baren beginning to look settled though, drives van Troost hard through mid off and again only the outfield saves the boundary. Goes inside out up over the off side three balls later and this time the ball just beats the chasing fielder to the rope.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 12:19
HBS : 91-2 (24 overs)
Walbrugh brings up his half-century, from 57 deliveries with nine fours. Navjit’s on 19*, as the HBS pair keep the runs coming off Hartsink and Nashier.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 12:12
VOC : 42-4 (16 overs)
Gijs Kroesen into the attack, goes short and van Baren releives the pressure with a flat-batted slog for four over mid on. A single and a couple of wides follow, but Kroesen too finds reward on the final ball, Rutgers chasing a shorter wide ball and edging to gully who holds on at the second attempt. Schoonheim will join van Baren after drinks.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 12:03
ACC : 33-2 (12 overs)

Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 12:02
VOC : 35-3 (14 overs)
Well de Kok and van Baren had looked to be recovering well from that first ball wicket, but the hosts are well on top again now. Maiden from Heggleman on van Baren, Rutgers off the mark bunting van Troost wide of the slips, but that’s the only scoring shot for a while. Rutgers looks to take on Heggelman in the next but miscues the drive, repreived as the catch is put down at mid off. One more single off a thick outside edge, neither bat looking comfortable. Rutgers sees out another maiden from van Troost.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 11:55
HBS : 58-2 (15 overs)
Borren turns to spin, with Leon Turmaine on for Singh and Luke Hartsink replacing Abid. Walbrugh has started very positively; six fours in his 29* so far.
HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 11:53
HCC : 56-2 (12 overs)
No problem about the S Zulfiqars today, with Saqib unfortunately nursing a hamstring injury in the Super League bubble in Utrecht. It’s Sikander who replaces Bhatti from the Van Hogenhoucklaan End, and he opens with a full toss which Gorlee puts over square leg for six. Four to fine leg for Crowley later in the over, and twelve off it in all. Mubashar Hussain on for Tariq.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 11:48
VOC : 33-3 (11 overs)
Rens van Troost replaces Etman, bangs one in short first up at de Kok and is pulled round the corner, but there’s a man back for it, just one. Thick inside edge on the last ball brings the same fielder into play, two off the over. Heggelman continues at the other end, finds van Baren’s edge on the drive but flies high wide of gully. Gets de Kok with his next though, less bat on that and into the gloves. Two dots later and new man Arnav Jain is gone too, into the pads and up goes the finger. Van Baren might have gone two ball later, top edging a pull off van Troost high into the on side but deep backward square can’t cling on to a diving catch.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 11:45
HBS : 46-2 (12 overs)
Vikram Singh replaces Borren and Walbrugh goes after him, taking two fours off his first over. Still Abid from the Sportlaan End.

Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 11:32
VOC : 27-1 (8 overs)
In the slot from Heggelman and de Kok gives it the treatment, up over long on for six. Search party dispatched into the bushes. Etman continues after the unscheduled break, overpitches and is driven square to the rope by van Baren first ball. Goes short on the final delivery and is pulled away square the other way. Reports of Ahsan Malik’s return have proved unfounded, incidentally. The Malik here today is his cousin Rohan.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 11:33
ACC : 6-2 (5.1 overs)
And another for Max Hoornweg, and ACC’s dangerous Sahil Kothari is the man to go, also bowled. Ammar Zaidi in at four, with his side in early trouble.

And a wicket at Craeyenhout, where Mason edges Abid through to keeper Mitch Lees. Tayo Walbrugh to the crease.
ACC vs Sparta 1888 11:22
ACC : 5-1 (3 overs)
Max Hoornweg strikes early for Sparta, bowling Anis Raza for 1. Kothari is joined by Krishna Hosur.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 11:20
VOC : 10-1 (5 overs)
Van Baren off the mark guiding Heggelman just wide of gully for a single, just one off the over though. Etmam oversteps in the next and van Baren’s baseball sliug over midwicket plugs a bit in the outfield and stops just an inch inside the rope, but they’ll run three. Just the single off Heggelman’s next, but de Kok pounces on a wider ball from Etman to cut hard in front of point, the still dewy outfield saves Excelsior a run but they’ll take three.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 11:19

HCC vs Punjab Rotterdam 11:09
HCC : 1-0 (1 over)
Just a wide off Suleiman Tariq’s opening over at De Diepput, bowled to Daniël Trijzelaar. Sohail Bhatti from the other end.
HBS Craeyenhout vs VRA 11:07
HBS : 1-0 (1 over)
Julian de Mey has been promoted to open in the absence of Tobias Visée, but it’s Reece Mason who takes strike against Ashir Abid. Peter Borren takes the new ball from the Scoreboard End.
Excelsior ‘20 vs VOC 11:05
VOC : 0-1 ( 1 over)
Ayaz Durrani and Dirk van Baren opening for VOC, and their partnership lasts all of one ball. Niels Etman with the new ball, back of a length and angling across, climbs on Durrani who tamely fends to Ingram at second slip for the easiest of catches. De Kok in at three and the next is fuller from Etman past his outside edge. Beats the bat again two balls later. Wicket maiden. Heggelman from the other end.

Good morning etc., playmates, and welcome back to TKcricket’s unique coverage of this fascinating season. We hope you’ve been feasting on the Super League since we were last together, and that you’re ready for a Round 8 which is full of interest despite (or for some, because of) the absence of the national squad players. Bertus de Jong will be bringing us all the developments from Thurlede, where Excelsior are hosting leaders VOC, and I shall be rounding up the other three games taking place today.
