Topklasse Live | T20 Round 4 | As it Happened

   Rod Lyall  14:50
And interesting it undoubtedly was! With three games to play, VRA, HCC and Punjab are probably one win away from a place in the semi-finals, while Excelsior have greatly improved their chances of joining them by beating both VOC and Sparta today. VOC are still in with a shout, and even Vooburg can’t be entirely ruled out. At the other end of the table, Salland gave themselves a ray of hope by beating Voorburg, although rivals HBS have games in hand, and Sparta may yet be grateful for the point they took from the rained-off match on Thursday evening. There’s a lot still to play for, and we’ll be back next week to tell you all about it. For now, though, this is Rod Lyall saying good night, and have a great week!

   Punjab
  144-5 (19.3 overs)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

Single to Mohammad Shafiq to keep the strike, and Naqash returns to bowl the last. Starts with a wide, then Shafiq pushes a single. Asad levels the scores, and then Shafiq swings him to leg for the winning run. Punjab win by 5 wickets.

   Punjab
  139-5 (18.5 overs)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

Victor Lubbers back, and Asad hammers him over long off for another six. But just when it seemed to be settled, Rehmat gets under what might have been the winning blow and is caught in the covers by Ganesan for 34. Five still needed, seven balls remaining.

   Punjab
  131-4 (18 overs)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

Asad relieves the gathering tension by driving Nasir back straight for four, eight off that one. There’s a whole lotta sweeping going on, but off Bharathi it yields only singles. Until Rehmat slog-sweeps him over cow for six. Eleven off it, and 13 are needed off 12 deliveries.

   Punjab
  112-4 (16 overs)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

Ten in all from Victor Lubbers’ third over, and Rehmat finishes off Gopinath’s next by sweeping him for four. Nasir back into the attack with 32 needed from four.

   Punjab
  74-4 (14 overs)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

Lubbers, Gopinath and now Elan Bharathi are gradually hauling their side back into this, cutting out the flow of boundaries and keeping Asad and Rehmat Zulfiqar on a fairly tight leash. 144 looks a little more distant now . . . But as I write that Rehmat sweeps Bharathi behind square for four, and a misfield off the final ball enables Asad to come back for two.

   Punjab
  78-4 (10.3 overs)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

Victor Lubbers into the attack, and his third ball strikes Sikander pretty much dead in front. The umpire’s finger goes up. Big wicket for Salland, that!

   Punjab
  77-3 (10 overs)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

A worrying moment for Salland – and Germany – as Naqash dives to his left to try to save off his own bowling, falls heavily, and is slow to get up. But he appears to be OK. Gopinath replaces Elam Bharathi from the Harbour End, just four coming from his over. And that’s the mid-innings drinks break.

   Punjab
  59-3 (6.6 overs)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

Naqash maintains his fifth stump line outside off, and although Asad gets off the mark with a boundary, off the final ball of the over Minhas gets an edge and Ottachchige takes another catch. He made 40 from 27 deliveries, and Sikander joins Asad.

   Punjab
  53-2 (6.2 overs)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

Mohsin Riaz’s unhappy T20 run continues, as he slashes at a Sahir Naqash delivery and Ottachchige dives to his right to take a terrific catch. Asad Zulfiqar is again the first of the clan to come to the crease.

   Punjab
  53-1 (6 overs)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

Minhas keeps up the momentum, despatching Gul Ahmed Nasir over mid-on and cover for back-to-back boundaries. A quiet over from Reinder Lubbers, then Elam Bharathi is next up from the Harbour End. Minhas sweeps him for four, then lofts him high and handsome over long on. Suddenly 144 doesn’t look so far off.

   Punjab
  29-1 (2.4 overs)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

Minhas belts Bartholomew over long off for six, then picks him up from outside off and over square leg for another. Punjab seem keen to deal almost exclusively in boundaries, Usman driving Reinder Lubbers back straight for four before cutting him over point and then hitting him there again – in the air but safe. Then he clips him to midwicket, and Ganesan takes the catch. Salland needed that!

   Punjab
  5-0 (1 over)

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

They’re back out at ’t Zomercomplex, Shoaib Minhas guiding Reinder Lubbers’ second delivery from the Equestrian Centre end behind point for four. A single is the only other scoring. Fraser Bartholomew from the Harbour End.

   Punjab
  yet to bat

Salland
143 all out (19.2 overs)

While all that was happening, another Salland implosion was taking place at ’t Zomecomplex, the last seven wickets falling for just 13 runs. Three wickets for Tariq, including two with successive deliveries, and two for Mohammad Shafiq. Punjab will be chasing rather less than seemed likely when Raxworthy and Lubbers were up and going.

   Excelsior
  125-6 (20 overs)

Sparta
120-7 (20 overs)

They can only manage four off those three deliveries, and Excelsior win by 5 runs.

   Excelsior
  125-6 (20 overs)

Sparta
116-7 (19.3 overs)

Ouch! When Heggelman returns with 18 needed off the last, Kroesen eases him effortlessly over midwicket for six, reducing the deficit to 11. A fumble at long off enables him to come back for a second, but then he miscues over the keeper’s head and is caught at third man by Blankestijn. Ten needed off the last three deliveries.

   Excelsior
  125-6 (20 overs)

Sparta
105-6 (18.3 overs)

And as if that’s not enough Clark, after smacking Blankestijn over long on for six, gets under the next and is caughtby Verhagen in front of the sightscreen and goes for a 38-ball 50. Manminder Singh in to join Kroesen.

   Excelsior
  125-6 (20 overs)

Sparta
92-5 (17.1 overs)

Ahmadi swinging with increasing desperation at Etman,  but it’s Ingram who gets him, caught by Luuk Kroesen at deep extra cover. Which brings Joost Kroesen to the crease, facing his old teammates with the game in the balance. Spicy!

   Punjab
  yet to bat

Salland
130-4 (14.6 overs)

Wicket at Het Zomercomplex: Raxworthy smacks a Sohail Bhatti full toss down the throat of Riaz at long off and departs for 41. Bartholomew joins Lubbers, who’s on 32*.

   Excelsior
  125-6 (20 overs)

Sparta
92-4 (16 overs)

Ahmadi does what he was presumably sent in to do, belting Verhagen back over his head for six. A tidy Niels Etman over, however, claws things back Excelsior’s way: Sparta need 34 off the last three overs. But Clark’s still there, on 40*.

   Punjab
  yet to bat

Salland
112-3 (13 overs)

Lubbers decides the time has come, closing out a Minhas over with a six and a four, and then hoists Sohail Bhatti over midwicket for another six. Salland have the basis for a pretty imposing total here.

   Excelsior
  125-6 (20 overs)

Sparta
72-4 (13.5 overs)

Nine come from Rens van Troost’s next, all in ones and twos as Clark and Balwantsingh hustle some momentum into the Sparta innings. Roel Verhagen into the attack from the City End, and Golden Arm strikes again, bowling Balwantsingh and swinging the balance back Excelsior’s way. Khalid Ahmadi join’s Clark, who’s now on 32*.

   Excelsior
  125-6 (20 overs)

Sparta
61-3 (12 overs)

Clark and Ingram look to be the key figures at Thurlede, with Sparta needing 65 off eight overs. A second win for Excelsior would reinforce their hopes of reaching the semi-finals, but Sparta need the win to stave off any possible resurgence by Salland.

   Punjab
  yet to bat

Salland
78-3 (10 overs)

This could turn into a very good day indeed for Salland and a very bad one for Punjab, but there’s still a long way to go. Still and all, Raxworthy has just lifted Minhas over long on for six, and they have a platform for a good total if they can avoid another of their batting collapses.

   Punjab
  yet to bat

Salland
65-3 (7.5 overs)

Naqash lasts just two balls, overbalancing and very smartly stumped by Asad Zulfiqar. Victor Lubbers in at five.

   Punjab
  yet to bat

Salland
65-2 (7.3 overs)

Sulaiman Tariq has a bowl himself, but the runs continue to flow, 14 coming from his first over including a straight six by Raxworthy. But when Minhas comes on from the Harbour End, Ganesan holes out to Hamza Cheema at extra cover and departs for a 26-ball 40. Sahir Naqash in to join Raxworthy.

   Excelsior
  125-6 (20 overs)

Sparta
42-3 (7.5 overs)

Ingram into the attack; they milk him for a brace and a couple of singles, but when Ferguson makes to sweep he beats the bat and into the stumps. Balwantsingh joins Clark with the game nicely poised.

   Punjab
  yet to bat

Salland
32-1 (4 overs)

Ganesan swings Shafiq behind square for four, then hoists Hussain high over midwicket for six. In between, Ottachchige hammers Hussain over mid-on for four, but when he tries to do it again he succeeds only in holing out to Minhas and departs for 8. Raxworthy in to join Ganesan.

   Excelsior
  125-6 (20 overs)

Sparta
24-2 (4.2 overs)

Ferguson and Tarr push things along briskly, but then Tarr gets a leading edge to Niels Etman, and it’s another catch for Heggelman. The third member of the Sparta overseas triumvirate, Will Clark, joins Ferguson.

   Punjab
  yet to bat

Salland
6-0 (1 over)

They’re straight back out at ’t Zomercomplex, Punjab winning the toss and asking Salland to bat. Shafiq bowls the first over to Ganesan and Ottachchige from the Equestrian Centre End, Mubashir Hussain takes the second.

   Excelsior
  125-6 (20 overs)

Sparta
1-1 (0.4 overs)

Immediate success for Jens Blankestijn: Bukhari goes back and slaps at the first ball he receives, miscuing to Heggelman at deep mid-off. Garnett Tarr in to join Sam Ferguson.

   ACC
  137-8 (20 overs)

VRA
99-3 (11.1 overs)

No mistake at Het Loopveld either, Balbirnie taking over with a 24-ball 34*, Smal keeping him company with 17*, and VRA win by 7 wickets. That will keep them firmly at the top of the table.

   Salland
  122-4 (16.1 overs)

Voorburg
119 all out (19.4 overs)

No, they couldn’t: Naqash (22*) and Bartholomew (13*) see their side home, Bartholomew settling it with a boundary, and Salland win by 6 wickets. That’s been a very strange day for Voorburg, Musa’s century ending Punjab’s unbeaten run and then they end Salland’s winless run in the afternoon. Weird stuff, but that’s T20, I guess.

   Salland
  94-4 (12.1 overs)

Voorburg
119 all out (19.4 overs)

Another one goes, as Laurens Boissevain and Cedric de Lange combine to run out Victor Lubbers. Surely Salland can’t blow this?

   Excelsior
  125-6 (20 overs)

Sparta
yet to bat

Not 140, certainly, but Ingram finishes with a 56-ball 69*, and Excelsior do have something to bowl at.

   Salland
  94-3 (12 overs)

Voorburg
119 all out (19.4 overs)

Van Vliet returns to get the breakthrough, Ottachchige caught by Musa Ahmad for 38. Victor Lubbers in to join Naqash, and Salland need 26.

   ACC
  137-8 (20 overs)

VRA
99-3 (11.1 overs)

Arya strikes, bowling Visser for 21. But Smal’s still there, and VRA need only 38 now.

   Salland
  87-2 (11 overs)

Voorburg
119 all out (19.4 overs)

Ottachchige and Naqash bring Salland to within 33 of their first win in this competition, on 33* and 13* respectively. Voorburg in desperate need of some quick wickets.

   Excelsior
  94-6 (16.5 overs)

Sparta
yet to bat

Technical gremlins have made keeping up with events at Thurlede well-nigh impossible, but we can now tell you that Ingram has made his way to 46*, despite losing both Niels Etman and Rens van Troost to Faisal Bashir. He needs to stay there if Excelsior are going to get anywhere near, say, 140.

   ACC
  137-8 (20 overs)

VRA
74-2 (8 overs)

Van Luin is run out by a return from Knoll to Devanshu Arya, having made a 25-ball 38. Johan Smal in at four.

   Salland
  53-2 (6 overs)

Voorburg
119 all out (19.4 overs)

Philippe Boissevain into the attack, and he gets Raxworthy, caught by Floris de Lange for 37.

   Salland
  46-1 (5 overs)

Voorburg
119 all out (19.4 overs)

Ottachchige and Raxworthy take to Kamal, and then Raxworthy goes after Mees van Vliet with a vengeance, 22 coming from his first over. Raxworthy’s raced to 32* from 14 deliveries, Ottachchige on 17*.

   ACC
  137-8 (20 overs)

VRA
34-1 (4.2 overs)

A much-needed wicket for ACC, Kumar bowling Zamaan Khan for an 11-ball 21. Van Luin’s on 14*, and Visser’s the new man.

   Salland
  0-1 (0.1 overs)

Voorburg
119 all out (19.4 overs)

Disaster for Salland, as Ganesan’s run out by Stef Mulder off the first ball of the innings. Finn Raxworthy joins Ottachchige in the middle.

   ACC
  137-8 (20 overs)

VRA
17-0 (1 over)

Tyler Van Luin and Zamaan Khan set out on VRA’s chase, the first over bowled by Anis Raza. Expensive first over, including a Van Luin four and back-to-back sixes for Zamaan. Allegrissimo start by VRA.

   Excelsior
  33-3 (9 overs)

Sparta
yet to bat

Verhagen’s gone as well, falling to the same Clark-Balwantsingh combination and departing for 10. Ingram and Stan van Troost engaged in a rebuilding exercise for Excelsior, against Snoep and Tom Hoornweg now.

   ACC
  137-8 (20 overs)

VRA
yet to bat

A run-out at ’t Loopveld as well, Raza beaten by Balbirnie’s throw and departing for 18. Then bowler Balbirnie picks up a second wicket, Mark Wolfe caught by Ashir Abid, and it’s a rather diminuendo conclusion to the ACC innings.

   Salland
  yet to bat

Voorburg
119 all out (19.4 overs)

Fraser Bartholomew bowls Van Vliet and then Ganesan catches Kamal off Gul Ahmed Nasir, and Voorburg’s last six wickets have fallen for 29 runs. Salland will be pretty happy with that.

   Salland
  yet to bat

Voorburg
115-8 (18.3 overs)

Lubbers again, this time responsible for the running out of Cedric Lange as Voorburg’s slump continues.

   Excelsior
  8-2 (2.6 overs)

Sparta
yet to bat

Another fine catch, this time by Will Clark at slip off Balwantsingh, and Tim Etman goes without scoring. Lorenzo Ingram in to join Verhagen now.

   ACC
  130-5 (18 overs)

VRA
yet to bat

Raza’s still still there, but he’s lost two partners: first Rahil Ahmed, caught by Van Luin off Balbirnie for 4, then Mahesh Hans, caught by that man again off Aaditt Jain, for 1. Van Luin has had a hand in all five wickets to fall so far.

   Salland
  yet to bat

Voorburg
109-7 (17 overs)

Victor Lubbers removes both the brothers Boissevain, Philippe leg-before and Laurens caught bty Naqash. And now Floris de Lange has been bowled by Elam Bharathi. This is more reminiscent of Voorburg’s batting horrors of last week than of this morning’s shock win against Punjab.

   Excelsior
  3-1 (1.3 overs)

Sparta
yet to bat

Prithvi Balwantsingh bowls the first over from the Chalet End, conceding three runs, but with the third ball of the second wicketkeeper Garnett Tarr takes a fine catch off Khalid Ahmadi, diving to his right to grasp the edge from Michael Hart. Tim Etman in to join Verhagen.

   Salland
  yet to bat

Voorburg
90-4 (13 overs)

Stijn de Leede’s gone at ‘’t Zomercomplex, caught by Abbas Sherzad off the bowling of Gopinath for 27. Philippe Boissevain’s on 10*.

   ACC
  107-3 (12.4 overs)

VRA
yet to bat

At Het Loopveld ACC have been making good progress against their second opponents of the day, Auld Enemy VRA. Chris Knoll and Shreyas Potdar put on 45 for the first wicket before a double strike by Tyler van Luin removed them for 32 and 18 respectively. Since then, Hobson and Raza have taken them to 107, but Van Luin’s return brought about the fall of Hobson for 37. Raza’s still there, on 10*.

   Rod Lyall  14:50
Thanks, Bertus. With the news that Max O’Dowd’s 90 has taken the Netherlands into the Super Six in Harare, we’re ready to bring you the rest of today’s T20 Cup action.

   Bertus de Jong  14:49
And I fear that’s the end of my brief cameo today, but Rod’s padded up and ready to go as I head back to the pavilion. And I can leave you with news that the Dutch have secured their spot in the CWC Qualifier Super Sixes, Max O’Dowd falling just ten runs short of a well-deserved century, but having set up a comfortable 7 wicket win for the Netherlands over Nepal.

   Salland
  yet to bat

Voorburg
68-3 (9 overs)

.De Leede and Kulkarni have kept the runs flowing, but Kulkarni gets a little over-eager and pays for an adventure down the track, stumped off Bararthi to bring Phillippe Boissevain to the middle.

   Excelsior
  0-0 (0 overs)

Sparta

And we’re looking for a quick turnaround, Excelsior win the toss and will bat first again.

   Excelsior
  133-5 (20 overs)

VOC
122-8 (20 overs)

No mistakes from the hosts, Blankenstijjn and Verhagen tidy at the death and close out a the win, Hoseinbaks and Upadhyaya swinging for the hills but can’t get the distance, fielder happy to take the ball on the bounce. Excelsior win by 11 runs..

   Salland

Voorburg
38-2 (5 over)

.Gigani and Musa came racing out of the blocks at the Zomercomplex, but Salland are rid of both now, Gigani caught off Bartholomew and Musa off Nasir, maiden the fifth, de Leede and Kulkarni in.

   Excelsior
  133-5 (20 overs)

VOC
112-8 (18 overs)

Asking rate tells here as Schoonheim and Jamil hole out in succession, 22 needed off the last two with Upadyaya and Hoseinbaks in the middle, Excelsior’s game to lose, Blankenstijn to bowl the 19th.

   Salland
  yet to bat

Voorburg
12-0 (1 over)

Meanwhile at the Zomercomplex VCC have won the toss and elected to bat, and Gigani’s got them off to a brisk start, two boundaries off Reinder Lubbers’ first.

   Excelsior
  133-5 (20 overs)

VOC
94-6 (15 overs)

The hosts have done a good job keeping VOC contained since the drinks break at ten, and the pressure almost cost Jamil as he looks to put Heggelman into the sight screen, mishit loops up but falls safe. De Kok shows him how it’s done next ball, drilled so hard you’d almost think it would go staright through the slats as it bounces off the screen and almost back into the circle, but next ball he’s needlessly run out and evidently furious. Gone for 33. Schoonheim in, 40 needed off five.

   Excelsior
  133-5 (20 overs)

VOC
69-5 (10 overs)

TdK keeping the momentum flowing despite the wickets, slamming Ingram over the rope and almost into the club-house. Jain was struggling to accelerate at the other end though, and holes out off Blankestijn looking for the big shot over square leg. Jamil in and edges behind second ball, but spilled.

   Punjab
  164-8 (20 overs)

Voorburg
166-7 (19.5 overs)

Musa Ahmad takes a bow, as well he might. 13 off Hussain in the 19th, Musa facing every ball. 13 needed off the last, Bhatti to bowl it, two fours in four balls leaves five to get, Musa goes one better, get low to lift that over the midwicket rope for six, his century and the match. 100* exactly off 63 balls and without question the finest inning this young competition has seen, surely one of the finest T20 knocks in the history of the short format in the Netherlands. VCC win by 3 wickets.

   Punjab
  164-8 (20 overs)

Voorburg
138-7 (18 overs)

All happening South of the river too, as Shafiq bags a hat-trick in the 17th, accounting for Boissevain, de Lange and Kamal – giving up just one run. Van Vliet in with Musa, who immediately counters by plundering 17 off Bhatti in the next.

   Excelsior
  133-5 (20 overs)

VOC
41-4 (5.1 overs)

Recordon is caught for5 off Niels Etman, but VOC look in a real hurry. Niaz has smashed two sixes off Blankestijn including a monster over the new scorer’s box and onto the next field over. Seelaar slams Ingram over the rope for his first six, but then is well caught in front of the wicket next ball. Jain in, and Niaz gone next ball top edging Etman skywards. Captain to the crease, TdK at six. All happening.

   Punjab
  164-8 (20 overs)

Voorburg
121-4 (16 overs)

Musa making a game of it at the Zomercomplex, he’s keeping VCC in the hunt with 59 off 47 so far. Flip Boissevai contributed a couple of sixes before departing, he’s been replaced by Laurens of the same name, who’s doing an even better job. five fours and striking at almost 200.

   ACC
  103-9 (20 overs)

HCC
109-5 (18.5 overs)

ACC manage to dislodge Staal and Crowley, but it comes too late to deny HCC. Yash Patel and Jonathan Vandiar take them comfortably home. HCC win by 5 wickets with 7 balls to spare.

   Excelsior
  133-5 (20 overs)

VOC
5-1 (1 over)

And they’re back on, and Blankenstijn strikes an early blow for the hosts as Berry spoons one up for Tim Etman tracking back from mid off. Niaz joins Recordon.

   ACC
  103-9 (20 overs)

HCC
77-3 (15 overs)

Staal and Crowley starting to find the gaps at ‘t Loopevld, as Raza cycles through his bowlers looking for the breakthrough. Seven he’s used now, Knoll into his third. They need something…

   Punjab
  164-8 (20 overs)

Voorburg
58-3 (10 overs)

Voorburg going nowhere slowly at the Zomercomplex. Musa’s still there on 36 off 31 with Boissevain for company, but 4 boundaries in 10 overs isn’t gonna cut it. They need trens and then some from here..

   Excelsior
  133-5 (20 overs)

VOC
yet to bat

The Etmans (Etmannen?) have done a decent job here, run-a-ball 25 for Niels and and unbeaten 46 off 36 for Tim, with Jain picking up another wicket to finish with 3-17. Hardly an imposing total, but didn’t look easy out there. Lots resting on the home spinners.

   Bertus de Jong  12:21
Meanwhile at Takashinga a barage of short stuff from van Beek and de Leede has blasted through the Nepali tail, skittled for 167. And just as well too, because Rajbanshi and Lamichhane will be a handful on that track .

   ACC
  103-9 (20 overs)

HCC
42-3 (10 overs)

Over at ‘t Loopveld HCC are taking an extremely measured approach to the chase, the early loss of Alphonse followed by a doyble strike from Hobson having put them on the back foot. Crowley in with Staal and a run-a-ball needed with half the innings to go.

   Punjab
  164-8 (20 overs)

Voorburg
24-2 (5 overs)

VCC ‘s chase has got off to a stuttering start, Gigani and de Leede gone, caught off Hussain and Shafiq respectively. Kulkarni joins Musa Ahmed, who’s on 17, having struck the sole boundary of the innings thus far..

   Excelsior
  74-4 (13 overs)

VOC

Ingram looks to inject some urgency, but can ‘t clear the man on the rope off Jamil and goes for 26. Brothers Etman looking to make something of the innings now. VOC sticking to spin, Hoseinbaks at the other end.

Tough going for the hosts here at Thurlede, Upadhyaya has Stan van Troost caught behind and Tim Etman’s in with Ingram now, but runs hard to come by. Barely better than a run-a-ball at the minute..

   ACC
  103-9 (20 overs)

HCC
yet to bat

ACC meanwhile finished on 103-9, Alphonse and Staal setting off in pursuit.

   Punjab

Voorburg

Rehmat’s dropping down the order seems to have done him some good, slog-sweeps Boissevain over midwicket, carves van Vliet for six more over point, then takes back-to-back maxima off Mulder next over. Losing a lot of partners as Shafiq is caught behind off van Vliet though and then Bhatti is run out. Another run-out in the final over does for Cheema, and just six off it, van Vliet will be happy with that, but Zulfiqar’s unbeaten 45 has seen Punjab to a decent score.

   Excelsior
  27-2 (5 overs)

VOC

Turn on offer here at Thurlede too, where a promising start for the hosts is cut short as Jain bowls Hart round his legs looking for the reverse, then has Verhagen stumped two balls later.

   Bertus de Jong  11:21
Morning everyone, cheers Rod. Lovely day for it here at Thurlede, do recommend getting along if you’re in the area. But if not I’ll do my best to keep you updated on the day’s games (with half an eye on Harare, where the Dutch have Nepal six-down for 116 on what looks a raging turner).

Bertus is now ready to take over and complete the coverage of these games, so I’ll leave you in his capable hands. I’ll be back later to bring you the final chapters of the day’s story.

   ACC
  76-5 (14 overs)

HCC
yet to bat

ACC are still well short of a satisfactory total at ’t Loopveld, with Hans and Aryan Kumar needing more than singles if they are to get their side well past the hundred.

   Punjab
  115-5 (16 overs)

Voorburg
yet to bat

Rehmat and Shafiq are keeping up a fair momentum at ‘’t Zomercomplex, helped by a couple of wides from Musa and an edge by Shafiq which runs to the third man boundary. But they’ll need to accelerate a bit from here if they’re to set a demanding target.

   Excelsior
  0-0 (0 overs)

VOC
yet to bat

At Thurlede VOC have won the toss and put Excelsior in.

   Punjab
  94-5 (12.3 overs)

Voorburg
yet to bat

That’s the one Voorburg really needed: Minhas, on 44, skies Stef Mulder square, there’s a long, long wait for it to descend, and when it does Stijn de Leede is there to take the catch. Mohammad Shafiq to the crease, and Punjab have some work to do.

   ACC
  65-5 (11.3 overs)

HCC
yet to bat

A run-out was all ACC needed at this stage, and it comes from an excellent return from Doram from the square leg boundary to beat Rahil Ahmed’s dive as he and his old Dost clubmate Mahesh Hans attempt an ambitious second.

   Punjab
  85-4 (11 overs)

Voorburg
yet to bat

Sikander hammers a De Lange full toss over bovine territory for six, but then an inside edge deflects the next ball into his stumps. Rehmat Zulfiqar is there with Minhas now, and the opener has moved on to a 23-ball 37*.

   ACC
  52-4 (9.5 overs)

HCC
yet to bat

Another for Venter, as Raza lofts him towards cow corner and is caught by Crowley. ACC lapsing into trouble here now.

   Punjab
  68-3 (7.5 overs)

Voorburg
yet to bat

Asad Zulfiqar has come and gone at ’t Zomercomplex, making 13 before pulling Floris de Lange to Laurens Boissevain at deep midwicket. Minhas is on 32* now from 18 deliveries, as Sikander Zulfiqar comes to the crease.

   ACC
  47-3 (8.2 overs)

HCC
yet to bat

Now Potdar’s gone, a leading edge off Philip Opperman going straight to Jan-Wieger Overdijk at cover. Rahil Ahmed joins Raza with a lot of rebuilding to be done.

   ACC
  47-2 (7.5 overs)

HCC
yet to bat

Scrub that: Hobson tries to belt Henrico Venter into the River Amstel (metaphorically speaking), and is struck on the pad. The umpire’s finger goes up, and he departs for 11. Anis Raza joins Potdar, who’s on 28*.

   ACC
  42-1 (7 overs)

HCC
yet to bat

Three boundaries for Potdar off successive deliveries from Jan-Wieger Overdijk, and ACC are recovering pretty well from that early setback.

   Punjab
  42-2 (4.3 overs)

Voorburg
yet to bat

But as I post that Van Vliet gets the breakthrough: Usman tries to smash him over long on, gets under it a little, and Musa’s there to take the catch. He goes for 17, Mohsin Riaz in at threebut he lasts just two balls, his first attacking shot finding Philippe Boissevain at square leg.

   Punjab
  42-0 (4 overs)

Voorburg
yet to bat

Mees van Vliet quickly replaces Musa, but Usman twice hits him for four, convincingly cutting through point, rather less so off the edge to fine third man. Kamal generally keeps Minhas quiet, although he does manage a four of his hip to fine leg and then clips the final delivery off his toes and over the midwicket boundary.

   ACC
  10-1 (2.3 overs)

HCC
yet to bat

A wicket for Damian Crowley: Knoll caught by Henrico Venter for 5. Thomas Hobson in early to join Potdar.

   Punjab
  12-0 (1 over)

Voorburg
yet to bat

Shoaib Minhas and Yasir Usman open for Punjab as usual, Musa bowling the first over from the Equestrian Centre End. Minhas off the mark immediately with a single, Usman following suit. Then Minhas slog-sweeps him square for six, and chops him through point for four. Punjab off to a flier. Sajjad Kamal from the Harbour End.

   ACC
  6-0 (1 over)

HCC
yet to bat

Daniel Doram takes the new ball for HCC, six coming his first over as Chris Knoll, opening with Shreas Potdar, takes a four off the final ball. Jan-Wieger Overdijk to bowl the second.

   ACC
  0-0 (0 overs)

HCC
yet to bat

But at Het Loopveld ACC, having won the toss, have elected to bat first.

   Punjab
  0-0 (0 overs)

Voorburg
yet to bat

At the Zomercomplex Musa Ahmad has called correctly and invited Punjab to have a bat.

Dutch cricket fans will, of course, have one eye on events in Harare, where Logan van Beek has an early breakthrough in the Netherlands’ vital World Cup Qualifier match against Nepal. We all wish Scott Edwards and his team the very best!

Good morning (/afternoon/evening), everyone and once again welcome to TKcricket’s live coverage of the T20 Cup. The weather has reverted to its summer setting after Thursday evening’s washout, and we will have seven games for you over the coming hours. Punjab and ACC will start at 10:00 CEST against Voorburg and HCC respectively, with Excelsior taking on VOC an hour later. I’ll be bringing you all the latest on those, with Bertus hopefully chiming in to keep you posted on the lunchtime games. Then I’ll be back with the day’s final match, the last element of the triptych at the Zomercomplex. It should be another very interesting day!
